He shows such intelligence. He waits but we keep a respectable space. He watches atop a dirt mound and follows knowing the route taken. There is something special connecting to the wild things... Think maybe will make a video to show him off...;)

I'm sure the coyote is just as misunderstood as the wolf; do read world-famous French concert pianist's Helene Grimaud's book (she lives in upstate New York amongst wolves) "Return to Salem" about how wolves are greatly misunderstood-

Hmmm this story is timley... I was Classic Nordic skiing today through the "Kettles" of Northern Kettle Moraine in SE Wisconsin when I was joined by a brown dog with a radio collar. He followed me for a couple miles while I skied then he was gone. I learned later he was tracked by his owner that was tracking and shooting coyotes. Yeah, they make a big deal about the coyote in the midwest of US, while at my home in Southern California Desert there are coyotes driving cars, bowling and eating cats and dogs no one seems to notice or be overly concerned... go figure.

you left me completely in the dust with this one- could you please explain?- I'm clueless (or am I in the wrong film?)

Ha hah! No it was just my poor attempt at humor - there are so many coyotes in the California desert that no one really bothers them and they don't bother us but in the Midwest there are few and they successfully and ruthlessly eliminate them.
