A Tory aide who was caught plotting to smear a deputy council leader in a clip posted on YouTube has resigned.

Andre Walker, once considered a rising star in Conservative circles, was allegedly overheard
telling a colleague that he had “injected poison” into the career of Alison Knight, deputy leader
of The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Robert Bobbin, a fellow passenger on a commuter train from Waterloo last Tuesday, recorded
the mobile phone conversation and placed it on the YouTube with a picture he took of Mr Walker
in his seat.

The political aide to the council’s leading Conservative Party told a colleague named Phil that he
was planning to oust Cllr Knight from her position as deputy leader because she had “gone bananas”
about an initiative from Tory central office.

Mr Walker said the deputy leader had “kiboshed” proposals to give council residents greater influence
over policy decisions which the Royal Borough had been asked to trial.


“We need to put the word round among our friends that she should be removed as deputy leader,”
he can be heard to say in the recording.


“No one likes her, total liability. Total liability should come up in all the discussions. We could put that out.”

Mr Bobbin claims that before he began recording the conversation he heard Mr Walker say of Cllr Knight:
“She’s dead mate she’s ------- dead. I told you I'd inject poison into her and I did, didn't I?”

Mr Walker, who previously co-hosted the news bulletins on the now defunct internet TV channel 18 Doughty
Street with Iain Dale, the influential Tory blogger, has now resigned from his job at the council.

He said: "I put the council in a difficult position, I have apologised for that. A conversation I had was overheard,
I said the wrong thing, I have apologised. That apology has gone to various people in the group including Alison Knight."

But he claimed that he had been the victim of a left-wing plot to damage the Conservative Party.

"I was incredibly unlucky to sit next to a left wing activist who decided to record me,” he said.

Mr Bobbin has denied that he has left-wing sympathies and said he voted Conservative in the 2005 General Election.

“It wouldn't matter if I was but I've never been on the left and in fact have been inclined towards the Tories for
many years. I recorded him because ordinary people sitting on trains must stand up for clean politics,” he wrote on YouTube.

The council confirmed that Mr Walker had resigned but refused to make any further comment.

look can we create a system whereby each local community does their own

idea to be honest where you take control of your local district and you do the
planning and the council just signs it off.

Alison went bananas about it, yeh yeh yeh so Liam was furious, well she kyboshed
it and of course what Liam had to do was go back to camerons office and tell them
he failed now peter and x trusted x which incidentally means that were growing
stronger. Well of course we are

She was our problem but now weve removed her. What? Oh f**k off dont be
ridiculous. ?I suggest you go on the cabinet seriously

What she tried to play on was that youre a rough and ready guy and she tried to
make you out to be a moron well of course but it doesnt matter. Shes dead. No-one
likes her any more not even her friends like her any more

Well I. Well now what we need to do is, in may theres going to be a one to one
where all the councillors are going to talk to the leader we need to put the word
round amongst our friends that she should be removed as deputy leader. No-one
likes her, total liability. total liability should come up in all the discussions. We could
put that out

For deputy leader who cares its only 900 quid who cares
Well alright alright listen dont move yourself because as it stands you will be solid
for years right, just give it to someone like Dudley or someone

Alright so the word goes out that Phils brilliant in his job but I think people love you
anyway youre very popular.

I think the word goes out that Alison needs to be replace by Dudley for deputy but I
tell you why its slightly risky because Dudleys not 100% controllable by us. Hes not
100% controllable. Dudley.

But you put yourself up for deputy leader you set yourself up for a fall its not worth
it. As it stands everyone respects you we dont want to f**k about with that

But what needs to happen if we put Dudley in for deputy leader is he needs to
know it was us. So I think what we need to do in the next couple of weeks is have a
word with him and say look. Let me do that. We need to tell Dudley that we want
him for deputy leader and were sorting it for him. But he needs to thank us for it in
the fullness of time

A Tory activist who Elliott Johnson claimed had 'betrayed' him in a suicide note has
revealed they were in a romantic relationship until 'the day he died'.

Days before Mr Johnson's suicide, Andre Walker was secretly recorded in a meeting
lambasting him for making a complaint about 'Tatler Tory' Mark Clarke.

He called Mr Johnson a 'f****** d*******' and told him he had behaved 'disgracefully'.
But the political journalist yesterday denied bullying and said the pair were close.

'We hit it off straight away and the relationship started pretty soon after that and it lasted
until the day he died, as far as I was concerned,' he said.

'The reason that I have been coy about that is because I know that saying that will upset
the family and I'm very sorry about that.'

A friend of Mr Johnson said: 'Elliott absolutely adored [Mr Walker] ... I don't think that was
reciprocated. Andre is in his late 30s and Elliott was 21, so young and sensitive.'

Andre Walker was giving his first interview since Elliott Johnson's suicide BBC Sunday Politics

The man young Conservative Elliott Johnson accused of “betraying” him in an
apparent suicide note has said that the pair were in a relationship.

Mr Johnson was 21 when he died on train tracks on September 15 last year, amid
claims of bullying by former parliamentary candidate Mark Clarke.

In a note addressed to “Mum and Dad” the young Tory said journalist and fellow
activist Andre Walker had “betrayed” him and the former chair of Conservative
Future Mark Clarke had “bullied” him.

Good video and good thread around it. Really, Andre Walker's meltdown was pretty minor and I thought Kevin Barrett finessed it rather nicely. I might have called Andre an adamantly clueless useful idiot myself. I'm not really sure what to make of the Freemason baiting. It doesn't matter what group a person is a member of, it's what a person chooses to use that membership for that matters.
