I really like Mike Ruppert a lot. I have much respect for him and the work he has done for many years. He wrote what I believe to be the definitive book [Crossing the Rubicon: The Decline of the American Empire at the End of the Age of Oil] that very accurately outlines the 9-11 timeline and builds an airtight case naming Dick Cheney as being responsible. He did much to raise people's awareness of the U.S. governments involvement with drug smuggling, trafficking and profiteering and the connections between that money and major American banks and Wall street institutions. In the past few years Mike has weathered some major challenges, has bounced back quite well. He's a tough bugger.
While he is aware of so much his view of reality is a bit too narrow. All of his positions and arguments are based firmly on the subject of peak oil. For me the jury is out on that one. Many of his predictions have indeed happened but not all of them, and maybe not the most important ones. I have not read any of his stuff lately but I'm sure he will be connecting the recent rise of the TSA's full body scanners and invasive searches at airports as a planned operation to get people to stop flying, thus destroying the demand for oil and helping to stave off the effects of the peak. His focus and message these days, and in the film "Collapse" is one of doom for humanity. He's just like a dog on a bone with peak oil.
The problem is that he is not aware of the existence of free energy technologies, among other things that can and will help solve problems or is not able to see that they exist, so he only sees the end of civilization and is convinced that we will all go back to living as we did 2000 years ago.
Mikes intentions are only good. He is coming from the heart. He is extremely well informed in a lot of big picture issues, but not as many as the people here on this forum are. His information is good, accurate and not dis-info. But "Collapse" is a bit of overly dramatic fear-porn. The doc wasn't his idea but he was approached by a producer to make it. I myself didn't think much of it. But if you are not familiar with him do search for and watch all his videos available on Youtube, especially the old ones. I'm betting you'll come across something you didn't expect.
