View Full Version : Aajonus Vonderplanitz is dead

He died in august of 2013. I just found out an hour ago. I'm absolutely stunned.

He was arguably the founder of the paleo diet movement..and no doubt the founder of the raw meat diet.

He fought tirelessly for food rights, particularly the right to purchase raw milk legally. Predictably, he made some enemies in the process. He believed strongly that several attempts were made on his life. In one instance he claims "agents" tied him to his bed in Thailand and injected him with various toxic substances. In another, his car was tampered with in some way and he wound up upside down in a swamp...

His death does nothing to temper these claims...

Apparently his 2nd floor balcony mysteriously collapsed while he stepped outside one evening. He fell and broke his back.. He survived for a couple days but ultimately succumbed to death. It smells very funny to me..

This man was one of my nutritional heroes. His books and.influence gave me hope in some of my darkest times. It was my hope to meet him someday, if only to shake his hand. He always had my utmost respect. A great man. Thats about all I can say now. I'm just too stunned to say anything worthwhile at the moment

I read somewhere that he recommended that you smeared raw meat with feces and left it for days before eating it. I never wanted to try his "regimen".

I first learned of Aajonus in 2003 when I was in the San Francisco Bay Area figuring out how to recover from a lifetime of chronic slow deterioration that peaked with a cancer diagnosis in 2002.

A group of friends in the area who knew of my situation highly recommended his book based on their own experience following his advice. It totally resonated with me and made perfect sense to eat as close to nature as possible.

I saw Aajonus at least a half dozen times when he came to Chicago (I live in the Midwest)--he was the only one who could tell me the root cause of my chronic deterioration. I had been to many doctors and healers--no one got it diagnosed until Aajonus.

I saw him almost yearly starting in 2004--he would read my irises, give me a progress report, and fine tune his recommendations. I would also attend his workshop.

I totally respected him because he taught us to not be afraid of our bodies--to use nutrition and other natural routines to help our bodies heal. He wanted us to use our intuition and be self-sufficient.

Aajonus totally walked his talk. Am still following his advice now for almost 13 years (eat all my food raw but no meat at the moment) and works great for me!

I found out about his death the day after it happened--total tragedy. Took me a while to realize I would never see him again ... :(

He was definitely an advocate of eating "high meat" (i.e. rotten, raw meat). Google it if you doubt this.

I have his book "We Want to Live", was quite amazed by it when I read it.

Hi there,

I have the book too. And his recipe book. Almost all his recommendations are for fresh, raw meat.

I only found 1 quote having to do with spoiled meat in his books. Its on the bottom of pg 25 of his recipe book "the recipe for living without disease". It's as follows: "a little spoiled raw food has been shown to be beneficial to health, but not when processed, sterilized and eaten repeatedly. Diets of spoiled, cooked and processed foods have proved repeatedly to coincide with disease. We may pay twice more for them, through loss of health and work..."

Besides, I have no problem with a little rotten or spoiled meat. The research ive done on it is quite positive. If true, it doesnt change my opinion of Aajonus one bit.

I do object to wiping feces on meat and eating it. That would change my opinion of him. It was an absurd comment

I first learned of high meat from Dawn’s thread. Here’s one such post #360 (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?43548-The-gut-of-most-disease...-NOT-what-you-think-&p=694322&viewfull=1#post694322):

I'm speaking of making your own 'high meat'. I started mine in advance of completing this protocol because I knew I'd benefit from it. It takes a full 30 days to make high meat so you need to plan ahead. This is an excellent source of natural supportive e-coli and can even cure colon cancer and heal other ailments of the digestive tract. Here are the benefits:
1) an effective and inexpensive probiotic
2) known as 'high' meat because you will be very happy for 3days to 10 days after consumption. Apparently the 'wee beasties' in it secrete happiness chemicals!

Here's how you do it. Buy some grass fed beef. I bought a smal filet mignon tri tip steak. Cut it into little 1/2 inch cubes and place in a clean jar with a tight fitting lid. Don't fill the jar more than 1/2 to 1/3 full so there is lots of room for air in the jar. Refrigerate your meat cubes. Every 3-4 days take your jar out and remove the lid... waive the jar around in the fresh outside air for a few minutes and put the lid back on. Refrigerate until it is time for the next 'outing'. Be sure to do this OUTSIDE(!) because it will begin to smell strongly after 10 days or so. After 30 days it is ready to eat... and it is good for at least a year... as long as you refrigerate it and air it out every few days. (note: if you go on vacation it will be OK... just air it out when you get home)

When I made my first 'High Meat' I was pretty scared to take that first bite. Strangely my body was not frightened at all. It actually smelled and tasted good to me and I would get cravings for it. In the beginning I craved it every few days, then that changed to weekly, and slowly the length of time between cravings grew. One day after about 5 months I realized I hadn't eaten any high meat for about a month... eventually I threw the left over high meat away.

So... now I am starting again. My mouth actually waters when I think of taking my first bite ... but I can't do that until July 17... it will be 30 days old then and safe to eat.

"Aajonus also recommends eating animal products for b12. But he says its not enough and you must put some meat in a glass jar and leave it in the fridge for a few months to 'get high'. Im talking black, green and blue 'high'. He also advise coprophagia (eating your own s***e). One recipie Aajonus Vonderplanitz advises is 'a cut of fatty meat, smeared with your own faeces and put inside a glass jar in the fridge for 6months plus.'"

“Tenderizing meat” is not my cup of tea. Stating the obvious...there are degrees to anything and it’s up to each of us to find the right fit.

Not so off topic based on some of the above posts…what came to mind was something I read about how John Duff, a retired submarine commander, saved Catherine, his wife’s life.

"And I had been literally dying the day before," she says.
"I was going into renal failure - I was dying."

Article By-Line (http://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-27503660): You would have to be desperate to take a sample of your husband's excrement, liquidise it in a kitchen blender and then insert it into your body with an off-the-shelf enema kit. This article contains images and descriptions which some might find shocking.

In April 2012, Catherine Duff was ready to try anything. She was wasting away with crippling abdominal pains, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea so severe she was confined to the house. At 56, in the US state of Indiana, she had come down with her sixth Clostridium difficile infection in six years.

[Mod hat on]

@ Delfine: Not okay. The links you provided were interesting (and I read them), but your attitude from the start was hostile and confrontational. That's on a thread where Mike shared that he was shocked that someone he had valued had died a little while back, unbeknownst to him. You could easily have presented the information you wanted others to know without being so offensive.

I read somewhere that he recommended that you smeared raw meat with feces and left it for days before eating it. I never wanted to try his "regimen".Please! I have all of Vonderplanitz' books and I don't recall anything remotely akin to eating feces. He does advocate infant fecal matter transplants, but with that protocol the feces goes in the sound end of the alimentary canal, not the north end!

High meat is a fascinating subject, said to be extremely healing. It seems we could live on raw honey, raw milk, and raw meat. "Hey, we're having a dinner party". "No, no, er, ah, no thanks". haha. Aajonus wrote of eating high meat that was over a year old, going on to say you'd best open the jar outside due to the smell. Any high meat eaters here? Dawn would be likely to have tried it, but she isn't around much anymore. Edit: Sorry, I posted before reading the whole thread. RunningDeer already made reference to my thoughts.

Dawn shared her good-byes in March, 2015: "I am finally flying again (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?80730-I-am-finally-flying-again--How-to-revoke-spiritual-contracts-&p=943166&viewfull=1#post943166)." She's a pioneer with expanded ideas and the patience to share them in a straightforward way.

That's probably really good for you... Do you really think your distaste for something you haven't tried has any relevance to what is healthy?

"Rotten" meat is probably amazing for you... probably even moreso than fermented veggies (also amazingly healthy for you).

Hey delfine, did you know that you have 3-7 pounds of microbes in your gut at all times?

I've drank my own pee several times & I'm sure I've used semen as a topical cream on accident at least once (my wife certainly has).

Just because you haven't done it before doesn't mean you shouldn't... especially when it's just based on a feeling or emotion.

No worries delfine! I acted with a little too much sensitivity to your posts and was a bit snarky. Again, I apologize...

As far as drinking urine: ive never seen where aajonus advocated this. It certainly doesnt mean he didnt. You may be right. It doesnt turn me off too much...in fact I even tried it once or twice. I believe there is a thread on it here somewhere. Theres some interesting logic behind it, actually. Not for everyone, of course..

The semen on the face thing: Not for me, safe to say;)...but as weird as it sounds, I cant see it doing anyone harm. And it is so out there that id expect aajonus to have included it somewhere at least once in his books. Along with the feces thing, i'd have to see a direct quote from him to truly believe that one..

Re high or spoiled meat: youre absolutely right on that one. Even though he writes very little about this in his books, It appears he practiced and taught this much more than I ever realized

Cheers

Yes, I think that instinctual distaste towards something is often a sign that you shouldn´t ingest it.Most people feel like throwing up, when they smell something rotten. I guess for a very good reason. And think about cholera, it comes from water polluted with human waste. If feces was so healthy, it would be no problem drinking water polluted with, would it?

Hmm, I think Brussels sprouts are disgusting and cannot eat much fish due to the texture... so it sorta falls apart there...

(I also thought pee was disgusting and it took me a bit of a workup to overcome that one as well... it's not that bad ;) haha)

I'm not usually one to appeal to authority, but they agree with me, so why not?

A big difference between urine and poop is that urine is sterile while poop is, well, you know, smelly and full of bacteria.

That said, those are the same bacteria that live in your gut and play many healthy roles in your body, so coprophagy [Ed.: this means "eating poop," write it down] is not necessarily unhealthy unless the poop originates from an unhealthy individual.

In fact, a recent article published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine showed that fecal transplants, where poop from one individual is infused into another individual's intestines, have performed better than regular antibiotics in treating certain bacterial infections that cause severe diarrhea.

Thank you for this interesting inquiry. Drinking your own urine and eating your own poop is perfectly safe. Urine is sterile, poop is not, but they are your own bugs. There are no positive effects of eating your own poop that I know of. Hope this helps.

Interesting question. In theory, ingesting your own stool should not be harmful, as long as it "clean" (i.e., not contaminated with stool from others, as might occur by contact in a toilet bowl, etc). Furthermore, there may be a theoretical minor health benefit in doing so. Bacteria in the colon can metabolize non-absorbed food materials (fiber) and generate useful nutrients (e.g. vitamins such as biotin, or sugars and amino acids from fiber and other undigested materials) that are only partly absorbed during initial production, the rest is excreted with the stool. Re-uptake of these nutrients by ingestion of stool would give a second opportunity for absorption in the gut. In fact, coprophagy in mice (a normal behavior) helps to extract extra energy from food compared to mice that are prevented from coprophagy.

However, any theoretical biological benefit is heavily outweighed by our strong aversion to coprophagy.

Bottom line: the human body is a wondrous machine, with complex systems designed to extract nutrients from food and, during metabolism, excrete the waste products in the form of both liquids (urine) and solids (feces). The body is not 100% efficient, however (no machine is), so there could be some residual nutrition left in the waste.

That said, whatever small amount of nutrition that remains, which can have utility in some cases—-a likely explanation why certain species do eat their poop, like dogs; why poop from some species provides nutrients for others; etc—-it's not a terribly efficient way of obtaining energy and nutrition for humans. Your body has excreted this waste, and reconsuming it is literally a waste of energy

I can anecdotally attest to this working...

When I was in Iraq the food preparation conditions were.... questionable at best & I'm fairly certain I ate a good share of "bugs" I was not used to being exposed to... and HOLY CRAP what a turn around in my digestive tract...

I went from semi weekly fecal eliminations to daily, or twice daily like clockwork... I can eat ANYTHING now with no issues (super spicy food being the exception... I can't eat that like I used to)....

So yeah, I'm pretty sure I ate some Iraqi poop, and it made my life way better....

Next I'll tell you about the time I spent a year wearing uranium ore and what THAT did for me and my wife ;)........

the "taste instinct = good food choices"theory...

I love the taste of beer, but I think that's healthy for you (in my mind it is!) so maybe that one does fit the taste-good=is-good theory (though "taste" is so fluid... mine have changed quite a lot as I've grown older).
