This eerie outline of a man with outstretched arms floating above houses has some people believing that Jesus has finally returned.

The admittedly strange sight was captured in the village of San Sebastian Bernal - now known as Magico de Bernal, or Magical Town - in Mexico.

Footage shows the dark figure appearing briefly in the sky before disappearing almost as quickly as it arrived.

People are now divided as to what the dark figure actually is - and explanations range from the sensible to the utterly bizarre.

Sceptics say the image was either edited or it was a bird flying by underneath the sun, creating the distinctive shadow.

One user wrote: “It’s obviously an insect that flew close to the lens.”

Another wrote: “First investigate if there was a party at the time because you can clearly see the lights projecting a hologram, this technology is very elementary for those who want to try it, and this is them projecting the image of Jesus accompanied by his angels.”

Some dismissed both theories out of hand, with one person writing: “This is not a bird or a fairy, this is a phenomenon seen before in places with a high energy charge.

“This is an animal which up until now has not been seen due to the speed of its flight.”

Others have looked to the fantastical for answers and have called the figure a bad omen, an angel or even an extraterrestrial.

One user wrote: “Aliens exist and they’re in your town.”

Well, we already knew that.

Might be a bug too close to the camera.

But the video of the female apparition is neat.

Or is it the apparition that started the Mothman Prophecies?

Correct! It is very most likely a bug of some sort in front of the camera. Where's the "footage" -- why do we get only one still frame? Is it a coincidence that more frames from this footage would reveal if it were an insect?

"San Sebastian Bernal" is directly on a ley/vortex energy line. We've had two earthquakes in japan, in the past 36 hours or so.

Energies are 'up', and sightings, specifically on vortex/ley lines.... is going to be happening.

Dimensional egress.

Energies, are afoot. For example, Deutschbank was just found to be fixing silver markets. Those meeting at the whitehouse, and so on.

For this particular image, one can possibly find out what the image capture device is, and then discern how it constructs a frame. (which is exceedingly normalized across imaging platforms)

Global shutters are rare and expensive, so the camera will have a 'normal' scan type video frame grab. In such a case, the image can be treated in reverse of the frame build behaviour for that particular design type, and a better, or 'clearer' representation of a blurred image origin component can be seen. Depending on the result of the given processed image, it is highly probable that one could get a better grasp on what is actually in the image, be it fabricated, or other. Ie, photoshop insertions can show themselves in multiple ways. Importantly, speed based image anomalies (blurred image components from non-global shutter based stills or frames--which accounts for +99.95 of all cameras) are exceedingly unlikely to possess symmetry.
