‘Saudi Arabia appears to be blackmailing the US, saying it would sell off American
assets worth a 12-digit figure sum in dollars if Congress passes a bill allowing the
Saudi government to be held responsible for the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

The warning was delivered by Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir last month
during a visit to Washington, the New York Times reported. He said his country
would sell up to $750 billion in US treasury securities and other assets before the
bill puts them in jeopardy.

The newspaper said Riyadh’s resolve to actually deliver on the threat is dubious,
since selling off those assets would be technically challenging and would damage
the dollar, against which the Saudi national currency is pegged.’

I believe I first heard from Jim Marrs a long long time ago- in the late 90s/early 00s- that Saudi Arabia buys 1 million copies of every US President's Autobiography before it even hits shelves; which is why they're all marked "bestsellers" in the first week. The whole issue of the 28 pages might be nothing more then a means of leverage (extortion) over the Saudi's to keep them in line with US interests.

Because I had been through the Pentagon right after 9/11. About ten days after
9/11, I went through the Pentagon and I saw Secretary Rumsfeld and Deputy
Secretary Wolfowitz. I went downstairs just to say hello to some of the people on
the Joint Staff who used to work for me, and one of the generals called me in. He
said, "Sir, you've got to come in and talk to me a second." I said, "Well, you're too
busy." He said, "No, no." He says, "We've made the decision we're going to war
with Iraq." This was on or about the 20th of September. I said, "We're going to war
with Iraq? Why?" He said, "I don't know." He said, "I guess they don't know what
else to do." So I said, "Well, did they find some information connecting Saddam to
al-Qaeda?" He said, "No, no." He says, "There's nothing new that way. They just
made the decision to go to war with Iraq." He said, "I guess it's like we don't know
what to do about terrorists, but we've got a good military and we can take down
governments." And he said, "I guess if the only tool you have is a hammer, every
problem has to look like a nail."

So I came back to see him a few weeks later, and by that time we were bombing in
Afghanistan. I said, "Are we still going to war with Iraq?" And he said, "Oh, it's
worse than that." He reached over on his desk. He picked up a piece of paper. And
he said, "I just got this down from upstairs" -- meaning the Secretary of Defense's
office -- "today." And he said, "This is a memo that describes how we're going to
take out seven countries in five years, starting with Iraq, and then Syria, Lebanon,
Libya, Somalia, Sudan and, finishing off, Iran." I said, "Is it classified?" He
said, "Yes, sir." I said, "Well, don't show it to me." And I saw him a year or so ago,
and I said, "You remember that?" He said, "Sir, I didn't show you that memo! I
didn't show it to you!"

By ramping the oil price up or bringing it down, it's easy to plunge counties into
deep recession or stimulate economic boom, a tactic used by the US to regain
lost ground in the Middle East, geopolitical analyst William Engdahl told RT.

RT: The US is considering lifting its decades-old ban (since 1975) on exporting
crude oil. Should we view this as a first step toward expanding exports worldwide?

WE: The more significant one is that the oil companies are pressuring for lifting a
ban on exporting oil or gas, mainly to get the price of domestic gas up because
there was so much surplus on the market four to five years ago, it collapsed the
price on natural gas in the US and brought a lot of these fracking companies to
the brink of bankruptcy. The other thing is that the big oil majors simply want
to make money wherever they can, in whatever markets they can.

RT: Is there any connection between large gas and oil reserves and instability
in the Middle East?

WE: It certainly does, especially one of the crucial issues of the Syrian war and
of the foreign intervention into Syria from Saudi Arabia, from Qatar, from the US
and others is the fact that the Bashar Assad government signed an agreement
with Iraq and Iran to bring a pipeline from Iran's South Pars gas field in the
Persian Gulf, one of the largest gas fields in the world, up through Iraq and into
Syria and on into the Mediterranean, where it would go to the European gas
market and in direct competition with Qatar which wants to be a dominant gas
player in the European market. The entire Middle East conflict, the attempt to
destroy Syria is an attempt to get control of that potential pipeline route in the
hands of the Saudi Arabia, Qatar and certainly the Gulf Emirates there.

RT: How big is the role of oil in the modern world?

WE: There is a very significant oil component in many post-1945 conflicts. First
of all you have to understand the power of oil and this is something I talk about
in 'Myths, Lies and Oil Wars'. Originally seven companies, two British and five
American, and now it is simply down to four - that is Exxon Mobil, Chevron, BP
and Shell -- those four giants, the Anglo-American oil cartel, dominate the
world energy market.

Hydrocarbons, oil and gas, are the governor or the driver of economic growth
or economic recession and depression. If you can ramp the price dramatically
up, you can plunge counties and whole economies into deep recession or worse,
and if you bring the price dramatically down, you can have an economic boom,
as was done at certain points, not so often.

So the wars over oil from the side of the Anglo-American powers are mainly wars
to control, to strategically deny countries like China or others an energy independence
that would allow them to make direct one-on-one deals with different countries, have
secured supply of energy and secured price. So it is an attempt to control the
economic growth.

RT: In Iraq, Libya and Syria, armed conflicts have severely damaged oil infrastructure.
Doesn't the US oil industry stand to gain from this situation?

WE: The infrastructure can always be replaced. The problem is in Libya and this was
beautiful cock-up on the side of the US and the Obama Administration, [is that] the
political structures have been so ripped apart and now you have these blood feuds
between tribal clans that are armed to the teeth and are shooting each other for
territorial control. That is a process to get a new figure that all tribes agree on in Libya.
That process with Muammar Qaddafi took 15 years. So this is not going to happen in
Libya any time soon. Iraq is a different story but that depends a lot of what it ultimately
becomes in terms of stabilizing Syria and what happens in Iran.

RT: If the US does become a major crude exporter, do you see this having an impact on
how the country conducts its foreign policy?

WE: There is a lot of hype on the US exporting oil story. The US is by no means energy
independent. We are talking about an increase of million barrels per day in economy that
consumes 70-80 million barrels a day of crude oil. So the idea the US people are projecting
shocked growth rates, which is the case with fracking experiences when you start a well,
the surge of production is maximal for the first two months and then it drops by some 60
percent after 12 months. That's a dramatic decrease. The growth rates of the US oil
production are not going to be anywhere as dramatic as people are blatantly projecting
from certain energy think tanks in Washington. So the premise of this is not going to
be proven out.

worth of assets in the US if congress passes a bill which allows the Saudi government
to be held responsible in connection with the 9/11 attacks.

Saudi Arabia says it will be forced to sell up to 750 billion dollars in treasury securities
and other assets in the United States in order to prevent them from being frozen by
American courts. US government officials have reportedly lobbied with senators to block
the bill’s passage. They have warned Congress of diplomatic and economic fallout from
the legislation. President Barack Obama is expected to visit Riyadh next week. It’s not
clear whether the issue will be discussed during the visit.

Fifteen of the 9/11 “hijackers” from Saudi Arabia were CIA agents working for
the United States government, which was seeking to destroy the Middle East
for Israel and to double the American military budget, says Dr. Kevin Barrett,
an American academic who has been studying the events of 9/11 since late 2003.

Dr. Barrett, a founding member of the Scientific Panel for the Investigation of 9/11,
made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Wednesday, after a number
of US lawmakers called on the White House to declassify documents that shed light
on Saudi Arabia’s possible complicity in the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

The former congressmen say the 28-page classified document proves two Saudi
nationals who were behind the 9/11 attacks received support and assistance from
Riyadh while in the United States.

“It appears that Release the 28 Pages movement has succeeded or at least it is on the
brink of success. We heard on Monday from an Obama administration source that the
president is planning to finish the review process, presumably meaning he would be
declassifying these pages before the end of his presidency,” Dr. Barrett said.

“And now this is Wednesday, and Nancy Pelosi has called for releasing the 28 pages.
It does appear that it actually is quite likely to happen very soon. This is fascinating
news. It will certainly cause more issues in the relationship between the United States
and Saudi Arabia, because it appears the 28 pages primarily focus on the support from
Saudi ruling circles for some of the alleged 19 hijackers, who were in fact falsely blamed
for the crimes of September 11, 2001,” he added.

“The real issue here is whether this will end up prying open the entire case of 9/11 or
whether it could become a sort of a limited hang-out. It could be simply used to channel
popular anger against the government of Saudi Arabia, perhaps create a little more
distance in the US-Saudi relationship, but not really change anything,” he stated.

“And that would be a tragedy, because we need to reopen the entire 9/11 case. The actual
relationship between the Saudis and 9/11 is certainly not one of having this Saudi ruling
family completely controlling the 9/11 attacks and in charge of the plot; that’s ridiculous.
Saudi Arabia is a US puppet state.”

15 Saudi men were ‘patsies’

“We know that the 15 hijackers who were Saudis, the alleged hijackers, because they were
not on those planes – not one of the 19 hijackers, or any Arabs, were on any of the four
planes, according to the passenger list, and according to all of the evidence that would be
there if they were on the planes, but has not been produced,” Dr. Barrett said

“So these 15 Saudi patsies, who were set up to take the blame for 9/11, were in fact CIA
agents. We know this – I had this confirmed directly by a CIA source that these 15 Saudis
entered, and repeatedly reentered on these supposedly – they call them employment visas,
but there’s a special number for employment visas that are only given to CIA assets as a
reward for their service to the Central Intelligence Agency, and this visa allows them to
come to the US. Typically they’re paid for their work for the CIA in Saudi Arabia, and then
they are given this special kind of visa which is disguised as an employment visa but it’s of

‘The United Nations torture committee has called on Saudi Arabia to stop physical
punishment, including flogging and amputations, in the Persian Gulf kingdom.

In its first review of Saudi Arabia since 2002, the committee that monitors the UN
Convention against Torture also expressed concern about the abuse of bloggers,
activists and human rights lawyers in Saudi prisons on Friday.

“Has Saudi Arabia taken steps to prohibit… corporal punishments, such as flogging
and amputation of limbs, which are in breach of the convention?” committee member

Poor President Barack Obama flew to Saudi Arabia this past week but its ruler, King Salman, was too busy to greet him at Riyadh’s airport.

This snub was seen across the Arab world as a huge insult and violation of traditional desert hospitality. Obama should have refused to deplane and flown home.

Alas, he did not. Obama went to kow-tow to the new Saudi monarch and his hot-headed son, Crown Prince Muhammed bin Nayef. They are furious that Obama has refused to attack Iran, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Syria’s Assad regime.

They are also angry as hornets that the US may allow relatives of 9/11 victims to sue the Saudi royal family, which is widely suspected of being involved in the attack.

Interestingly, survivors of the 34 American sailors killed aboard the USS Liberty when it was attacked by Israeli warplanes in 1967, have been denied any legal recourse.

The Saudis, who are also petrified of Iran, threw a fit, threatening to pull $750 billion of investments from the US. Other leaders of the Gulf sheikdoms sided with the Saudis but rather more discreetly.

Ignoring the stinging snub he had just suffered, Obama assured the Saudis and Gulf monarchs that the US would defend them against all military threats – in effect, reasserting their role as western protectorates. So much for promoting democracy.

Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states have been de facto US-British-French protectorates since the end of World War II. They sell the western powers oil at rock bottom prices and buy fabulous amounts of arms from these powers in exchange for the west protecting the ruling families.

As Libya’s late Muammar Kadaffi once told me, “the Saudis and Gulf emirates are very rich families paying the west for protection and living behind high walls.”

Kadaffi’s overthrow and murder was aided by the western powers, notably France, and the oil sheiks. Kadaffi constantly denounced the Saudis and their Gulf neighbors as robbers, traitors to the Arab cause, and puppets of the west.

Many Arabs and Iranians agreed with Kadaffi. While Islam commands all Muslims to share their wealth with the needy and aid fellow Muslims in distress, the Saudis spent untold billions in casinos, palaces and European hookers while millions of Muslims starved. The Saudis spent even more billions for western high-tech arms they cannot use.

During the dreadful war in Bosnia, 1992-1995, the Saudis, who arrogate to themselves the title of ‘Defenders of Islam” and its holy places, averted their eyes as hundreds of thousands of Bosnians were massacred, raped, driven from their homes by Serbs, and mosques blown up.

The Saudi dynasty has clung to power through lavish social spending and cutting off the heads of dissidents, who are routinely framed with charges of drug dealing. The Saudis have one of the world’s worst human rights records.

Saudi’s royals are afraid of their own military, so keep it feeble and inept aside from the air force. They rely on the National Guard, a Bedouin tribal forces also known as the White Army. In the past, Pakistan was paid to keep 40,000 troops in Saudi to protect the royal family. These soldiers are long gone, but the Saudis are pressing impoverished Pakistan to return its military contingent.

The US-backed and supplied Saudi war against dirt-poor Yemen has shown its military to be incompetent and heedless of civilian casualties. The Saudis run the risk of becoming stuck in a protracted guerilla war in Yemen’s wild mountains.

The US, Britain and France maintain discreet military bases in the kingdom and Gulf coast. The US Fifth Fleet is based in Bahrain, where a pro-democracy uprising was recently crushed by rented Pakistani police and troops. Reports say 30,000 Pakistani troops may be stationed in Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.

Earlier this month, the Saudis and Egypt’s military junta announced they would build a bridge across the narrow Strait of Tiran (leading to the Red Sea) to Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. The clear purpose of a large bridge in this remote, desolate region is to facilitate the passage of Egyptian troops and armor into Saudi Arabia to protect the Saudis. Egypt now relies on Saudi cash to stay afloat.

But Saudi Arabia’s seemingly endless supply of money is now threatened by the precipitous drop in world oil prices. Riyadh just announced it will seek $10 billion in loans from abroad to offset a budget shortfall. This is unprecedented and leads many to wonder if the days of free-spending Saudis are over. Add rumors of a bitter power-struggle in the 6,000-member royal family and growing internal dissent and uber-reactionary Saudi Arabia may become the Mideast’s newest hotspot.

The Islamic State (IS) and Saudi Arabia prescribe near-identical punishments for a
host of crimes, according to documents circulated by the militant group.

IS published a list of crimes and their punishments on 16 December 2014 to


serve “as an explanation and as a warning” to those living in territory under their
control in large parts of Iraq and Syria.

The document lists hadd crimes, which are considered to be “against the rights of
God,” and includes fixed punishments for theft, adultery, slander and banditry.

Crimes deemed hadd and their punishments are derived from the Quran and the
hadith, the collected teachings and sayings of the Prophet Muhammad. However,
with the exception of Saudi Arabia, and IS-controlled areas, they are rarely applied.

This is a BBC doc from around 2001 , and shows the greater geo political
situation on the ground in the Sinai and middle east theatre . It shows
how Israel attacked the Egyptian airforce on the ground in a complete
surprise attack on its neighbours. I remember watching this at the time ,
but it did not have as much relevance to me then as it does now, and
how it ties into all these 'False flag' attacks and agendas.

It was obviously a pre meditated attack by Israeli forces against the Liberty,
jamming radio frequencies there was no doubt they knew they were attacking
an American vessel.

" WOW " Aprox 24 mins in they start discussing how bombers from USS America
were being armed with nuclear bombs to retaliate against Egypt , the presumed
attackers of the Liberty .( As planned by Israel to blame Egypt by using unmarked
planes). This begs the question who in Washington knew this ? This is when
McNamara recalled the planes , but would not authorise the sending of conventional
fighters. later President Johnson came on the phone to confirm the order not to
send help .They were not prepared to embarrass Israel , the narrator says.

Mcnamara comes on the doc and basically lies thru his teeth saying he did not
order planes not to take off , and did not order a cover up !!!

This is a good account so far and firmly suggests the 'false flag' was to get America
to attack Egypt , thus automatically siding with Israel and supporting them against
any possible Soviet intervention.


Aprox 44 mins...In 1997 two years before he died Capt Mc Gonagal of the Liberty
broke his silence that this was a US/Israel conspiracy, that if his ship had been
sunk with the loss of the entire crew, and blamed on Egypt it would draw the US
into the conflict. Then the narrator say they found evidence that this was part of
a mossad and CIA plan to invade Egypt and get rid of President Nassa .A plan
code named Cyanide , A key figure James Angleton Israel's closest ally in the CIA.
As part of Cyanide American CIA and military operatives were helping the Israeli
airforce in its attack on Egypt and supplied some surveillance and logistic support.

McNamara again said on camera" I do not want to discuss the Liberty " This
time it was obvious he was lie thru his teeth about the cover up !!


Actually this should have been the main post...LOL...The BBC did do many excellent
documentaries , as well as some duds. The hunt for Bin Ladin and the war on terror
was very good. Though most of the 9/11 conspiracies docs are rubbish .

Saudi court approves death sentence for activist

Saudi Arabia’s Court of Cassation endorsed Saturday a death sentence handed down
to an activist from the Shia community, four months after the execution of a respected
cleric by Riyadh sparked international outrage.

The court approved the sentence handed down to Yusof al-Mosheykhas, a citizen of the
Shia-dominated city of Awwamiyah in the eastern region of Qatif, Naba’ TV reported.

According to the report, Mosheykhas was arrested two years ago after he attended several
anti-government protests in his hometown. He was convicted of attempted terrorist act in
an initial trial and was incarcerated in January 2014.’

the Financial Times largely went unnoticed but Arab observers are calling
for explanations about the Saudi role in the Syria crisis.

Sheikh Hamad bin Jassim Al Thani suggested that the 2012 crisis in Syria,
which has claimed about 400,000 lives so far, was a political game and not
a revolution as claimed by the West and its allies.

Several previously classified pages of the 9/11 Commission Report have been
released Congress has released previously classified documents about whether the
Saudi government had a role in the 9/11 attacks. The pages show no officials links
between the Saudi government and the hijackers who killed nearly 3,000 people in
New York.However, the report found it was likely that the attackers had financial
help from people inside the kingdom.

An independent panel completed the 9/11 Commission Report in 2002.

But several pages - informally known as "the 28 Pages" - were withheld from the
public for 13 years, fuelling speculation about their contents.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed in the 9/11 attacks

For years, lawmakers and family members of the 9/11 victims lobbied for their
release, arguing the US government was shielding an important ally.

Fifteen of the 19 hijackers who flew planes into the World Trade Center and the
Pentagon were Saudi nationals.

The released pages were still lightly redacted by the CIA. The report's original
authors cautioned that some of the information contained in "the 28 pages" was
unvetted material complied by the FBI.

The Saudi government said it welcomed the release of the documents on Friday.

The release confirms "neither the Saudi government, nor senior Saudi officials, nor
any person acting on behalf of the Saudi government provided any support or
encouragement for these attacks,'' Abdullah Al-Saud, Saudi Arabia's ambassador to
the United States, said in a statement on Friday.

The long sought after pieces exposing the true players behind the funding of the
attack on the United States on September 11, 2001 are finally, albeit slowly, being
revealed. The Bush crime family is caught in the cross hairs by years of public

Salazar writes “While in the United States, some of the September 11 hijackers were
in contact with, and received support or assistance from, individuals who may be
connected to the Saudi Government,” the report reads. “There is information, primarily
from FBI sources, that at least two of those individuals were alleged by some to be
Saudi intelligence officers.”

The report goes on: “The Joint Inquiry’s review confirmed that the Intelligence Community
also has information, much of which has yet to be independently verified, indicating that
individuals associated with the Saudi Government in the United States may have other
ties to al-Qa-ida and other terrorist groups. The FBI and CIA have informed the Joint Inquiry
that, since the September 11 attacks, they are treating the Saudi issue seriously, but both
still have only a limited understanding of the Saudi Government’s ties to terrorist elements.”

Joint inquiry officials also commented that the CIA and FBI’s failure to “address the Saudi issue”
was “unacceptable.” Previously, several law enforcement agents including the FBI and police
came forward with statements that investigations were inhibited when it came to looking at
Saudi Arabia’s role.

“The FBI was thwarted from interviewing the Saudis we wanted to interview by the White House,”
said former FBI agent and investigator Mark Rossini, who added the White House “let them off the hook.”

And now the 28 pages have possibly led down a crooked path right to Hillary Clinton herself. The
Nixonesque Saudi backed Democratic Candidate for President of the United States. Rough numbers
show that Hillary’s campaign has raked in funding anywhere from 20-40% from the Saudi government.
Spurred on by her close association with the mysterious Huma Abedin.

the vote there was 348 to 77. You need a two-thirds vote in both bodies and they were
well above that threshold in both bodies here.

President Obama argued this decision to override could be dangerous.

OBAMA: So this is a dangerous precedent and its an example of why sometimes you have
to do what’s hard. And frankly, I wish Congress here had done what’s hard. I didn’t expect
it because if you’re perceived as voting against 9/11 families right before an election, not
surprisingly that’s a hard vote for people take. But it would have been the right thing to do.

This Democrat senator disagrees arguing they closed a loophole established by the courts.

RICHARD BLUMENTHAL: What we’ve done here is provide justice or at least the opportunity
for justice, a day in court to the victims of terrorism and we’ve closed a loophole that was
open by the courts, not by Congress in a decision made by the second circuit court of appeals
that said in effect that foreign state sponsors of terrorism can aid and abet killing Americans
in this country as long as they do it outside our borders. I think that kind of loophole should
be closed. I read the court decisions and the bill and I am satisfied it’s the right thing to do.

Saudi government allegedly funded a ‘dry run’ for 9/11

Fresh evidence submitted in a major 9/11 lawsuit moving forward against the Saudi Arabian government reveals its embassy in Washington may have funded a “dry run” for the hijackings carried out by two Saudi employees, further reinforcing the claim employees and agents of the kingdom directed and aided the 9/11 hijackers and plotters.
Two years before the airliner attacks, the Saudi Embassy paid for two Saudi nationals, living undercover in the US as students, to fly from Phoenix to Washington “in a dry run for the 9/11 attacks,” alleges the amended complaint filed on behalf of the families of some 1,400 victims who died in the terrorist attacks 16 years ago.
The court filing provides new details that paint “a pattern of both financial and operational support” for the 9/11 conspiracy from official Saudi sources, lawyers for the plaintiffs say. In fact, the Saudi government may have been involved in underwriting the attacks from the earliest stages — including testing cockpit security.
“We’ve long asserted that there were longstanding and close relationships between al Qaeda and the religious components of the Saudi government,” said Sean Carter, the lead attorney for the 9/11 plaintiffs. “This is further evidence of that.”
Lawyers representing Saudi Arabia last month filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit, which may finally be headed toward trial now that Congress has cleared diplomatic-immunity hurdles. A Manhattan federal judge has asked the 9/11 plaintiffs, represented by lead law firm Cozen O’Connor, to respond to the motion by November.
Citing FBI documents, the complaint alleges that the Saudi students — Mohammed al-Qudhaeein and Hamdan al-Shalawi — were in fact members of “the Kingdom’s network of agents in the US,” and participated in the terrorist conspiracy.
They had trained at al Qaeda camps in Afghanistan at the same time some of the hijackers were there. And while living in Arizona, they had regular contacts with a Saudi hijacker pilot and a senior al Qaeda leader from Saudi now incarcerated at Gitmo. At least one tried to re-enter the US a month before the attacks as a possible muscle hijacker but was denied admission because he appeared on a terrorist watch list.
Qudhaeein and Shalawi both worked for and received money from the Saudi government, with Qudhaeein employed at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs. Shalawi was also “a longtime employee of the Saudi government.” The pair were in “frequent contact” with Saudi officials while in the US, according to the filings.
During a November 1999 America West flight to Washington, Qudhaeein and Shalawi are reported to have tried multiple times to gain access to the cockpit of the plane in an attempt to test flight-deck security in advance of the hijackings.
“After they boarded the plane in Phoenix, they began asking the flight attendants technical questions about the flight that the flight attendants found suspicious,” according to a summary of the FBI case files.
“When the plane was in flight, al-Qudhaeein asked where the bathroom was; one of the flight attendants pointed him to the back of the plane,” it added. “Nevertheless, al-Qudhaeein went to the front of the plane and attempted on two occasions to enter the cockpit.”
The pilots were so spooked by the Saudi passengers and their aggressive behavior that they made an emergency landing in Ohio. On the ground there, police handcuffed them and took them into custody. Though the FBI later questioned them, it decided not to pursue prosecution.
But after the FBI discovered that a suspect in a counterterrorism investigation in Phoenix was driving Shalawi’s car, the bureau opened a counterterrorism case on Shalawi. Then, in November 2000, the FBI received reporting that Shalawi trained at terrorist camps in Afghanistan and had received explosives training to perform attacks on American targets. The bureau also suspected Qudhaeein was a Saudi intelligence agent, based on his frequent contact with Saudi officials.
More, investigators learned that the two Saudis traveled to Washington to attend a symposium hosted by the Saudi Embassy in collaboration with the Institute for Islamic and Arabic Sciences in America, which was chaired by the Saudi ambassador. Before being shut down for terrorist ties, IIASA employed the late al Qaeda cleric Anwar al-Awlaki as a lecturer. Awlaki ministered to some of the hijackers and helped them obtain housing and IDs.
The FBI also confirmed that Qudhaeein’s and Shalawi’s airline tickets for the pre-9/11 dry run were paid for by the Saudi Embassy.
“The dry run reveals more of the fingerprints of the Saudi government,” said Kristen Breitweiser, one of the New York plaintiffs, whose husband perished at the World Trade Center.
“These guys were Saudi government employees for years and were paid by the Saudi government,” she added. “In fact, the Saudi Embassy paid for their plane tickets for the dry run.”
After the Nov. 19, 1999, incident — which took place less than two months before the first hijackers entered the US — both Saudi men held posts as Saudi government employees at the Imam Muhammad Ibn Saudi Islamic University, the parent of IIASA — “a further indication of their longstanding ties to the Saudi government,” the 9/11 complaint states.
Carter said in an interview that the allegations that the Saudi Embassy sponsored a pre-9/11 dry run — along with charges of other Saudi involvement in the 9/11 plot, from California to Florida — are based on “nearly 5,000 pages of evidence submitted of record and incorporated by reference into the complaint.”
They include “every FBI report that we have been able to obtain,” though hundreds of thousands of pages of government documents related to Saudi terror funding remain secret.
Attempts to reach lawyers representing the Saudi government by phone and email were unsuccessful. However, in last month’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit, they argued that the plaintiffs cannot prove the kingdom or its employees directly supported the hijackers.

Survivors of the 9/11 attacks have written to Prime Minister Theresa May – urging her to make
public a British government report into the extent of Saudi Arabia’s funding of Islamist extremism
in the UK.The report into the significance of the financing of Islamic extremists in Britain by Saudi
Arabia and other nations was commissioned by Ms May’s predecessor, David Cameron, as part of
a deal to obtain political support for a parliamentary vote on UK airstrikes on Syria.

Last week, British Home Secretary Amber Rudd said the report was not being published “because
of the volume of personal information it contains and for national security reasons”. Green Party
co-leader Caroline Lucas suggested the refusal to make public the report was linked to a reluctance
to criticise the kingdom, with which Britain has long had close strategic and economic ties.

Florida Bulldog, an organization of investigative journalists, has been investigating
connections between Saudis living in the US and the hijackers who crashed the
planes into the Twin Towers and Pentagon in 2011. In total, 15 of the 19 hijackers
involved were Saudi Arabian.

Judge Cecilia Altonaga ruled the FBI could keep secret certain portions of a 60-page
document – a slide show called ‘Overview of the 9/11 investigation’ – the Herald
Tribune reports.Florida Bulldog sued the FBI in June 2016 for records from the 9/11
Review Commission. A redacted version of the 9/11 overview was released by the
FBI in February.’
