I believe that space of "sacred" neutrality is what's known as "Big Mind" in Mahayana Buddhism and Zen, and as "the Higher Self" or "the Higher Mind" in Vedanta and Yoga. It delights equally in absolutely all the experiences the superficial self undergoes -- all equally, whether they're pleasant or unpleasant, successful or tragic.

Some naysayers claim that living in the blissful state of Big Mind is some kind of escapism. On the contrary, the truth is it's living from a position where one can bear to face everything and to see everything from the point of view of a broader, more inclusive, and therefore more accurate picture.
