I recently built a new system and have a monitor that is having issues. This is the second monitor with the same problem. Im not sure if it the graphics card or the display itself. I called Asus support and they were not that helpful.

Every other boot-up or so the screen seems to be closer together in the middle. Say for example you are reading text on the screen there is a closer spacing of the letters in the middle of the screen. This invisible break runs vertical down the middle. If there is a graphics or any image you can see the break. If that happens I boot up again and the break in the screen is gone. I thought it might be the bios but was told by support its not the motherboard bios.

Im using a display port cable for the highest video definition. Does anyone know what this might be? Or how I can fix it? The display is an Asus swift pg279q gaming monitor. thanks...

Display port should be good to higher res than your monitor can handle. Uninstall then reinstall latest graphics cards driver from the vendors website. Driver reinstall for these is often an easy fix for graphic weirdness - especially if those were initially installed off disk.

If tat doesn't work, set all monitor resolutions to 1080p or lower and try an HDMI cable instead of display port. If problem is gone - this is at least a clue to further steps.

Try a lower refresh rate.

If the problem still persists, it might be a lemon graphics card ... I don't think the issue you describe is actually monitor related - considering this is the second with the same behaviour ...

Try all that if you haven't already, and report back.

the monitor is amazing 1440p 165 hz refresh rate. I hate to loose the resolution with hdmi. I checked for driver updates but none for the monitor. The graphics card could be the issue. Its gtx980ti by asus as well. A pricey one but could be the problem. I think checking with hdmi cable is a good idea though. Ill see if it helps thanks

Don't worry about the 1080p - that's just for the hdmi - to see if the problem goes away - not a final solution.

Not monitor drivers, graphics card drivers for the 980ti -- do you have the latest drivers from the NVidia website? http://www.nvidia.com/Download/Scan.aspx?lang=en-us

Also, lowering the refresh to see if there is differences, is just for troubleshooting, to see if there is a difference, not a final solution.

Do drivers first if you are unsure if they are latest.

Sorry this link might be better-- I initially posted one that would still work, but wanted to use software to find the driver for you.

The monitor sounds like it needs a full adjustment procedure for each resolution and refresh rate. It should retain the information for each, once each has been adjusted. Almost as if the thing is not pixel mapping a perfect set of numbers. (ie, 2560x1440 is not the matrix that is being put out by the video card, or maybe not being recognized by the monitor)

Any luck yet Mojo?

The gsync monitor came with cd, so re-installed and seems to be working. Rebooting hasn't changed the image. I'm not sure if it's solved. If the promblem shows up will purchase hdmi cable. Thanks for your help...

Good to hear!
Yeah I was thinking maybe it was a G-sync issue - reinstalling drivers is often a decent bet for initial hardware issues.

Let me know if it comes back and we can troubleshoot more.
