Euro-revision? Over 200,000 sign petition demanding recount for Eurovision 2016 Song Contest
Thousands have signed an online petition calling for the results of this year’s Eurovision Song Contest to be revised. The petition laments national juries’ votes interfering with the popular opinion, granting victory to Ukrainian entry Jamala.
The petition ‘Make Eurovision Song Contest revise the results of the song contest 2016’ was submitted by user Arthur Hovhannisyan, from the Armenian capital, Yerevan, two days ago and targets the European Broadcasting Union.
The author insists that the final outcome of the winning places went against the actual will of the contest’s viewers.
Hovhannisyan writes in his petition that he is speaking on behalf of “the fans who do not agree with the results from Eurovision song contest.” Although he realizes the difficulties of jury voting and televoting process as being “hard and emotional one,” he nevertheless stressed that too many people cannot agree that this year's official winner should have really been granted victory.
“We have no doubt on the justice and privacy of contest that's why we think that there's a need to revise the results,” Hovhannisyan concludes.

Since when has Australia (or Israel for that matter) been in Europe, never really understood that.

Right.. and I've always asked myself the same question regarding Israel.. The only conclusion that we can impose is that nowadays it is a competition full of geopolitical interests, not musical, artistic or cultural ones. That is also evident by the poor quality of the applied songs and performers..
Good ol' days of Eurovision :)

Wouldn't it be nice to see that kind of enthusiasm for something that would change our world for the better.
Given enough time, all social structures devised by humans will become corrupted to varying degrees.

Are you telling me that the Eurovision Song Contest is not a paragon of fairness and democracy that I thought it was?? that for politcal (and sometimes back-stabbing) reasons not always the best song wins??
OMG my world will never be the same!

I don't know Althena,
I'm starting to think how nice ignorance would be.
Am I more fulfilled, am I happier, am I leading a fuller existence knowing what I know?
This is the question that has occupied my mind recently.
Maybe if the thing that outraged me the most, moved me to take direct action, was the Eurovision Song Contest and the (rather late) conclusion that it ain't about the songs, maybe if that was the most outrageous event in my life, with all the myriad, troubling things for mankind that I could choose from to become outraged about........... Maybe that ain't such a bad space to occupy in one's own head.
I have to admit, I feel a wee pang of jealousy.
How does that saying go, about Bliss and Ignorance?
Regards.

all song/sport, etc. competitions are rigged from the beginning (all of our lives are rigged)- why do people continue to believe that everything out there is under the guise of fairness when the outcome of one against another(s) has already been determined before the duell has even begun?-
stay well all-
