The Zika virus was first discovered in the 1940s, though most people had never heard of it until this year. That's because for decades, Zika outbreaks were sporadic and tiny, and the disease seemed to do little harm.

That changed in 2015. A massive outbreak in Brazil which affected up to 1.3 million people there in 2015 alone has altered the scientific community's view of the mosquito-borne virus. Scientists are learning that Zika may actually be a lot more dangerous than anyone thought, potentially damaging the brains of fetuses and causing incurable and lifelong health and cognitive problems. In light of this evidence, the World Health Organization declared a public health emergency on February 1, 2016.

Meanwhile, the virus has been spreading throughout the Western Hemisphere at a rapid rate, carried by a type of mosquito that thrives alongside humans. More than 50 countries and territories have reported local transmission of the virus, and Zika is expected to reach nearly every corner of the Americas this year (save for Canada and Chile, which aren't home to the mosquito that carries the virus).

You'll be hearing a lot more about Zika in the coming weeks and months.

Facts :

On January 22, 2016, CDC activated its Incident Management System and, working through the Emergency Operations Center (EOC), centralized its response to the outbreaks of Zika occurring in the Americas and increased reports of birth defects and Guillain-Barré syndrome in areas affected by Zika. On February 1, 2016, the World Health Organization declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) because of clusters of microcephaly and other neurological disorders in some areas affected by Zika. On February 8, 2016, CDC elevated its response efforts to a Level 1 activation, the highest response level at the agency.

In my country, Canada’s first confirmed case of sexually transmitted Zika virus highlights how much remains unknown about the frequency with which the disease spreads and the length of time exposed individuals continue to pose risks, according to a Canadian infectious disease expert.

http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/national/canada-confirms-first-sexually-transmitted-zika-case/article29749332/

In addition : 2 days ago the US Department of Defense announced that it is providing $1.76 million in additional funding to military laboratories to expand Zika virus surveillance worldwide and assess the virus’ impact on deployed service members’ health and readiness.

The enhanced Zika virus surveillance will involve 10 projects in 18 countries and territories by four lab partners based in the United States and five located overseas.
The labs receiving more Zika virus funds are part of the GEIS integrated worldwide emerging infectious disease surveillance network that includes core Army or Navy medical research labs in Egypt, Georgia, Kenya, Peru, Thailand, Cambodia and Singapore, and Army, Navy and Air Force labs in the United States, working in more than 60 countries around the world.

Recently, the US Department of State (DOS) has issued a notice stating that it has determined that an international outbreak of the Zika virus is sustained, severe, and is spreading internationally, and that it is in the national interest to respond to the related Public Health Emergency of International Concern. Finally, U.S. Senate approves $1.1 billion compromise bill to combat Zika on May 17, 2016.

SARS 2.0!

Also, Oxitec should be outed to all ... An engineered mosquito epidemic (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/07/16/oxitec-mutant-mosquitoes_n_1676344.html) is a very real reality. The technology has existed for years, and is currently in use. Below excerpt from 2011.

Early in November, at the annual meeting of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) in Atlanta, researchers from the British company Oxitec disclosed results from the world's first genetically modified (GM) mosquito field trials aimed at controlling the carrier for dengue fever. After the presentation at the meeting, Science (330, 1030–1031, 2010) published a news story claiming the trials had “strained ties” with Oxitec's collaborator, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Anthony James, the lead investigator on the Gates team, was also quoted as saying he would “never release GM mosquitoes the way Oxitec has now done in Grand Cayman.” Although some concerns have been raised as to how information about the trial was disseminated, it seems that controversy over the environmental release of a GM organism has been overblown.

The origin of the SARS virus is not yet certain... And still haunts Canadian survivors, ironically Canada is the only country outside Asia to has SARS deaths. There is a link between the current global epidemic of Zika virus and genetically modified mosquitoes were released in Brazil in tests financed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation there is no doubts about that and that why I called them mutant mosquitoes in the title of this thread.

The video from Reuters in the link below is a must to see and show when the doubts about the mutant mosquitoes started :

It roughly appears to me that this "new" Zika virus is not the same as the one they discovered in 1940s - never has there been large breakouts of ill effects from Zika, ever, till now. ... It looks to me like an engineered mosquito designed to launch a new "STD" -- one that will have a side effect of reducing population growth ... it's just a coincidence though, I am sure. ;)

It is not the Zika virus, doctors linked monsanto pesticide as cause of birth deffects. Monsanto exposed.

As fear mongering about the Zika epidemic runs rampant, separate organizations of doctors from Brazil and Argentina are directly challenging the notion that the Brazilian Zika virus outbreak is at the root of the recent increase in microcephaly birth defect cases.

After the dramatic increase in congenital malformations, the Brazilian Ministry of Health moved quickly to link the phenomena to the Zika virus epidemic. Microcephaly is a congenital condition in which a baby's head develops abnormally small.

In spite of all the media hype surrounding the mosquito-borne Zika virus and microcephaly, there has yet to be a scientific link proven between the two.

In a recent report by the Physicians in the Crop-Sprayed Towns (PCST), the group revealed that the area in which most of the afflicted persons live had been sprayed with a larvicide known to cause birth defects.

The chemical, pyriproxyfen, was added to the state of Pernambuco's drinking-water reservoirs in 2014, by the Brazilian Ministry of Health, in an effort to stop the proliferation of the Zika-carrying Aedes aegypti mosquito.

The report by PCST revealed that the pesticide, sold under the commercial name SumiLarv (Pyriproxyfen, Nyguard, Nylar), is manufactured by Sumitomo Chemical, a Japanese subsidiary of Monsanto.
Pyriproxyfen is a growth inhibitor of mosquito larvae, which alters the development process from larva to pupa to adult, thus generating malformations in developing mosquitoes and killing or disabling them.

It acts as an insect juvenile hormone or juvenoid, and has the effect of inhibiting the development of adult insect characteristics (for example, wings and mature external genitalia) and reproductive development. It is an endocrine disruptor and is teratogenic (causes birth defects).

Malformations detected in thousands of children from pregnant women living in areas where the Brazilian state added pyriproxyfen to drinking water is not a coincidence, even though the Ministry of Health places a direct blame on Zika virus for this damage, while trying to ignore its responsibility and ruling out the hypothesis of direct and cumulative chemical damage caused by years of endocrine and immunological disruption of the affected population," according to the report by Physicians in the Crop-Sprayed Towns.
In addition, to the report by PCST, in January 2016, the Brazilian Association for Collective Health (ABRASCO) published an open letter to the people of Brazil, questioning the linear analysis carried out by Brazil's Ministry of Health, which linked the emergent congenital malformations to Zika.

The group took issue with the ignoring of other factors that could have a direct influence on the problem and worked to minimize the fact that the widespread epidemic in the Pacific and the current epidemic in Colombia, resulted in no cases of malformations, much less microcephaly.

According to the report by PCST:
Previous Zika epidemics did not cause birth defects in newborns, despite infecting 75% of the population in those countries. Also, in other countries such as Colombia there are no records of microcephaly; however, there are plenty of Zika cases.
While there has been no shortage of theories as to the origin of the virus, the World Health Organization (WHO) has been careful to not link microcephaly directly to Zika.
"Although a causal link between Zika infection in pregnancy and microcephaly has not, and I must emphasize, has not been established, the circumstantial evidence is suggestive and extremely worrisome," WHO General Director Margaret Chan announced last month.
The WHO has officially declared Zika a global health 'emergency' and officials are carefully monitoring the rapid spread of the virus.

Scientists are currently racing to develop a vaccine...

Hello Betoobig :) Larvicide (Pyriproxyfen) was suspended in Brasil. And what about the supposed connection to Monsanto? There’s no evidence for that either. The maker of Pyriproxyfen is the Tokyo-based Sumitomo Chemical Corp. Tech Times reported that Sumitomo is “associated with” Monsanto, and noted that the doctors’ group called Sumitomo a “subsidiary” of Monsanto.

Zika Hoax: five things that will happen next

by Jon Rappoport (https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/author/jonrappoport/) Feb2 (https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2016/02/02/zika-hoax-five-things-that-will-happen-next/), 2016

Microcephaly = babies born with small heads and brain impairment.

In previous articles (https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/category/zika/), I established that the Zika virus uproar is a hoax. There was no reason to assume (https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2016/01/31/zika-freaka-the-other-shoe-drops-lying-about-case-numbers/) the number of Brazilian cases of microcephaly was extraordinary. There is no reason to assume (https://jonrappoport.wordpress.com/2016/01/31/busted-25000-cases-of-microcephaly-in-the-us-per-year/) the Zika virus has anything to do with microcephaly.

My previous quote:

“Now we have a January 27 Associated Press story out of Rio, published in SFGate: ‘270 of 4,180 suspected microcephaly cases confirmed.’ That’s called a clue, in case you’re wondering. Of the previously touted 4,180 cases of microcephaly in Brazil, the actual number of confirmed cases so far is, well, only 270. Bang. But wait, there’s more. AP: ‘Brazilian officials said the babies with the defect [microcephaly] and their mothers are being tested to see if they had been infected. Six of the 270 confirmed microcephaly cases were found to have the [Zika] virus.’ Bang, bang, bang. Out of all the microcephaly cases re-examined in Brazil, only six have the Zika virus. That constitutes zero proof that Zika has anything to do with microcephaly.”
But of course, The Machine is rolling and it will move forward. Also, a number of independent investigators are behind the curve. They are still assuming there is proof of a Zika-microcephaly “epidemic.” If there is proof, it is nowhere to be found yet.

Here are five things that will happen next.

One: Health agencies and reporters will mention cases of microcephaly in other countries, and they will automatically connect them to the Zika virus, or they will suggest there could be a connection. This baseless claim is part of the operation to build up the story and spread fear. Microcephaly can be caused by any insult to the brain during fetal development.

Two: There will be more stories about the rush to develop a vaccine against Zika, the virus that hasn’t been proved to cause anything serious.

Three: Some independent researchers will continue to insist that Zika is actually a weaponized biowar virus. They will ignore the fact that, as yet, Zika hasn’t been shown to cause microcephaly. Or they will point to genetically engineered mosquitoes and the Tdap vaccine as the cause of the Zika epidemic—when there is no proof the epidemic exists. Yes, the vaccine and the mosquitoes are quite dangerous to health, but there is no reason to tout a Zika/microcephaly epidemic when proof isn’t there.

Four: The truth here is: absence of evidence. On the one hand, the CDC and the World Health Organization will grudgingly admit it would be useful to assemble more hard evidence connecting Zika to microcephaly. On the other hand, they will press forward with emergency warnings (https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2016/02/01/zika-virus-who-declares-global-public-health-emergency-given-rapid-spread-in-americas/) to pregnant mothers; travel advisories; and they will emphasize the need to come up with a vaccine. Then, they’ll forget all about the need for more evidence.

Five: Investigators and researchers will ignore the fact that there is a very real health crisis in Brazil, and it has existed for a long time. The rampant use of toxic pesticides, grinding poverty, contaminated water, lack of basic sanitation, overcrowding, the takeover of farm land by major corporations, prior toxic vaccine campaigns—these are all factors that cause massive illness, suffering, and death in Brazil.

Again, I emphasize: The release of genetically engineered mosquitoes in Brazil, based on no health studies, is a crime, to say the least. But there is no need to claim these insects are causing an epidemic of microcephaly—since there is no evidence of an epidemic. There is every reason to oppose this GE mosquito campaign.

For the past 30 years (http://www.amazon.com/AIDS-Inc-Scandal-Century-Paperback/dp/B010EWMCRW/), I’ve been analyzing and taking apart phony epidemics. There are two things you must do, among others. Demand proof that the touted cause is really the cause. And discover whether the number of ill people is being accurately reported.

So far, re microcephaly, there is no proof the touted cause is the cause. And the recent revision of evidence indicates there are far, far fewer cases of microcephaly in Brazil than initially trumpeted.

Here is a sixth thing that may happen now. Those Brazilian researchers who went back in and looked at their own evidence for a second time and found no proof of a microcephaly epidemic and no causal connection to the Zika virus? The World Health Organization and the CDC could move in and apply some heavy pressure and arming-twisting:

“Look, boys, you messed up big-time. We’ve got a raging epidemic here because we say so. And Zika is the cause because we say so. Now, you look again and come up with the answer we want. We’re the pros. We run the show. You’re nothing. If you want future careers, you’ll do the smart thing. Get it?”

And then at another level, the US State Department will exert pressure based on aid programs to Brazil. You want the money to keep flowing? —You want to reap the rewards you’re getting from Monsanto’s presence in Brazil? You want our continuing help with security for the Olympics? Get on the right side of this story. Get out in front of trouble. Play ball.

And then, if the Brazilians fold up and submit and obey, you’ll hear something like this from their now-apologetic researchers:

“Well, when we looked at those 3000-plus other possible cases of microcephaly for a second time, guess what? Wow. We found most of them are, in fact, microcephaly. And the Zika virus was present in all those cases. This really is an epidemic, and it is caused by Zika. This is a global pandemic. We fully support the World Health Organization. We must have a Zika vaccine as soon as possible. Don’t get pregnant. Do what you’re told.”

Go along, or tell the truth. Go along, or tell the truth.

New York Aerial Sprays Altosid and VectoBac Pesticides to Combat Zika

New York City
What might be of particular concern to the New York City’s residents is the ironic possibility that using these chemicals against mosquitoes to control the perceived threat of the Zika virus could actually have the effect of creating a serious local health crisis where there was previously none.
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene is spraying city neighborhoods against mosquitoes that may carry and spread the Zika virus,1 2 3 which officials at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) have concluded is the cause of the infant birth defect microcephaly.4 New York City public health officials are now using low-flying helicopters to release pellets of the pesticides Altosid and VectoBac over four of New York City’s five boroughs, including Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island, and The Bronx.1 3

Specific areas targeted for spraying are “marshland and other urban wetlands.” In Brooklyn, these include Marine Park and Fresh Creek Park. In Queens, it is Alley Pond Park, the now dormant Flushing Airport, Dubos Point Wildlife Sanctuary and Park, and Brookville Park. In Staten Island, areas include Goethals North, Corporate Park, Saw Mill Marsh, Chelsea, Fresh Kills, La Tourette, Port Mobile, Wolfes Pond Park, Blue Heron Park, South Beach, Old Town, Clove Lake Park, and Kissena Park. In The Bronx, it’s Pelham Bay Park.1 3

Altosid is a trade name for the insect growth regulator (IGR) Methoprene. According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Methoprene “interferes with an insect’s life cycle and prevents it from reaching maturity or reproducing.”5 It essentially attacks mosquitoes when they are in their larval stage of development in water, before they hatch and are able to fly. Other trade names for the larvicide are Apex, Diacon, Dianex, Extinguish, Fleatrol, Kabat, Ovitrol, Pharorid, and Precor.5

With regard to Altosid’s toxicity to humans, fact sheets made available by local governments state:

Risk to the general public from the use of Altosid is minimal. Avoiding exposure is always the safest course of action, particularly for populations that may be at higher risk such as pregnant women, children, the elderly and those with chronic illnesses.6 7
VectoBac is a trade name for the bacterial insecticide Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti). Other trade names include Aquabac, Teknar, and LarvX, but there are a total of 25 Bti products registered for use in the United States.8 According to the EPA:

Mosquito larvae eat the Bti product which is made up of the dormant spore form of the bacterium and an associated pure toxin. The toxin disrupts the gut in the mosquito by binding to receptor cells present in insects, but not in mammals.8
According to the National Pesticide Information Center (NPIC), “Bti is low in toxicity to people and other mammals.” With regard to birds and fish, Bti has been found to be “practically non-toxic and non-pathogenic.”9

Although both insect growth regulators and bacterial insecticides are thought to be relatively harmless to humans, they are still toxic to some degree. Note above, for example, the risk of Altosid to the public is described as minimal, and the toxicity of Bti is characterized as low.

What might be of particular concern to the New York City’s residents is the ironic possibility that using these chemicals against mosquitoes to control the perceived threat of the Zika virus could actually have the effect of creating a serious local health crisis where there was previously none.

While the CDC seems convinced that Zika is behind the microcephaly cases in Brazil that have received so much media exposure of late, other organizations such as Médicos de Pueblos Fumigados (Physicians in the Crop-Sprayed Villages) of Argentina do not believe the causal relationship between Zika and the Brazilian microcephaly cases is clear. The Vaccine Reaction published an article about this titled “Pyriproxyfen Suspected of Causing Microcephaly in Brazil” earlier this year.http://www.thevaccinereaction.org/2016/02/pyriproxyfen-suspected-of-causing-microcephaly-in-brazil/

Médicos de Pueblos Fumigados has argued that an insect growth regulator similar to Altosid may be responsible for the microcephaly cases. In a report published in February 2016, the group cited Pyriproxyfen as a possible cause.11 According to the report:

[I]n the area [of Brazil] where most sick persons live, a chemical larvicide producing malformations in mosquitoes has been applied for 18 months, and that […] poison (Pyriproxyfen) is applied by the State on drinking water used by the affected population.
Malformations detected in thousands of children from pregnant women living in areas where the Brazilian state added Pyriproxyfen to drinking water is not a coincidence…11
This plausible theory that human exposures to toxic pesticides can damage fetal brains should be sufficient reason to give every New Yorker pause. It should be a reason to give those operating the New York City Health Department pause. Only time will tell if, in fact, the current anti-Zika pesticide spraying campaign will produce the outbreak of microcephaly cases it is aimed at preventing.
