English not being my native language I wonder about the word "raisins" that I understand being dried grapes...

Then black currant is mentioned...are these two different things or do you call dried black currant also raisins? And in any case; for how long should they be dried?

So I have to eat one cup raisins, that were boiled in 3 cups of water, each morning?

That would be a lot of fructose, almost the same amount like 1 cup of sugar.

didn't think of that...so it is not recommented for diabetic people ,i guess

When I read raisins I think Sunmaid. I've been eating a lot of them recently, as they're a high boron food. Boron is good for the teeth, bones, and energy. They definitely make me feel more robust, and give me a boost.

I think wheatgrass, lemon water, fresh vegetables, Methylsulfurmethane, cilantro and carrots also help the liver.

Perhaps its something in the raisins. I personally use raisins soaked/boiled in gin for joint pain.
The 100 year old directions - take a cup of raisins (II use golden raisins from Trader Joe's)
put them in a small pot, cover with gin, bring to a boil and then turn off. leave until cool - the raisins will have soaked up all the gin. Eat 1 -2 soupspoons every morning.
They do not taste of alcohol, and I've also discovered that a good quality of gin such as Beefeaters is best.
Not a cure for arthiritis but it does work for achey joints

Off the top of my head ... I am thinking that dried currants would be far more "medicinal" than grapes. One thing they do all have in common though are very high levels of anthocyanins (types of flavonoids) - at least in dark grapes, and the currants as well. I have not seen any info though where these are directly attributed to improving liver health, although they do have other health benefits. Perhaps the mechanism of action is not from this.

Any idea on what the proposed mechanism of action is?

Dried grapes are raisins. Dried currents are dried currents.
Commercial white raisins are red grapes that have been chemically "bleached" and dried.
Dried white grapes without chemical treatment are brown.

What would lead a person to believe there liver was toxic anyway? What would lead you to believe that your liver was non-toxic after this raisin treatment?

My guess would be that most people's livers are toxic due to the extreme amount of toxins ingested daily. We're assaulted from all angles. The liver works hard under normal conditions. In todays poisoned environment the liver works at maximum and will soon fail, thus becoming toxic. It needs help! Most of us consume poor quality foods, therefore the liver seldom gets the compounds necessary to do it's work. Supplementation is critical.

I don't know about the raisin water. Raisins are high in iron but also high in sugar. Perhaps other minerals in the grapes? However grapes are heavily sprayed and unless you get non GMO raisins you are asking for more trouble. I can think of a hundred other ways to detox the liver safely.

From Dr. Michael Greger's awesome new book on nutrition, How Not To Die (http://nutritionfacts.org/book/):

A specific class of plant compounds called anthocyanins - the purple, red and blue pigments in such plants as berries, grapes, plums, red cabbage, and red onions - have been found to prevent fat accumulation in human liver cells in in vitro studies. A single confirmatory clinical (human) trial has been published in which a purple sweet potato concoction successfully dampened liver inflammation better than a placebo.

When it came to suppressing the growth of human liver cancer cells in a petri dish, cranberries beat the other most common fruits in the United States: apples, bananas, grapefruits, grapes, lemons, oranges, peaches, pears, pineapples, and strawberries. Other studies have found that cranberries are also effective in vitro against additional cancers, including those of the brain, breast, colon, lung, mouth, ovary, prostate, and stomach. Unfortunately, there have yet to be clinical studies of the effects of cranberries on cancer patients that confirm these findings.
Moreover, to the drug industry's chagrin, scientists have been unable to pin down the active ingredients involved in cranberries special effects. Extracts concentrating individual components fail to match the anticancer effects of the cranberry as a whole, which of course can't be patented. More proof that it's nearly always best to give preference to whole foods.

How do you do that with cranberries, though, since they are so tart? It's not easy at the supermarket. Ninety-five percent of cranberries are sold in the form of processed products, such as juices. in fact, to get the same amount of anthocyanins found in a single cup of fresh or frozen cranberries, you'd have to drink four liters of cranberry juice, eat 840 grams of dried cranberries, or make your way through twenty-six tins of cranberry sauce. The ruby-red phytonutrient found in cranberries is a powerful antioxidant, but the high-fructose corn syrup added to cranberry cocktail acts as a pro-oxidant, cancelling out some of the benefit.

Here's a simple recipe for a whole food version of a tasty cranberry beverage, what I call my Pink Juice:

1 handful of fresh or frozen cranberries

500 ml water

8 teaspoons erythritol (a naturally derived low-calorie sweetener)

Place all the ingredients in a blender and blend at high speed. Pour over ice and serve

At just twelve calories, this recipe has twenty-five times fewer calories and at least eight times more phytonutrients than typical cranberry juice drinks.

For an extra boost, blend in some fresh mint leaves. You'll get a weird-looking green foam on top, but not only will it taste good, you'll be happy to know that you're chugging down berries and dark leafy greens, two of the healthiest foods on the planet. Bottoms up!

I use coffee enemas to detox my liver. See Max Gerson's alternative cancer treatments, William Donald Kelley, and Nicholas Gonzalez / Linda Isaacs. This is a standard method in many alternative cancer clinics.

A large glass of celery juice is a most excellent remedy for digestive ailments and cleansing. Drink on an empty stomach and do not mix any other juice or food with it. Drink it quickly before it oxidizes. I learned this from the Medical Medium, Anthony William. A profoundly strong addition to your supplemental armory.

Organic celery is a must. Celery is up there with apples, strawberries, and spinach as some of the worst to harbor pesticides.
