View Full Version : The Toynbee Tiles
One of my co-workers, a fan of Stanley Kubrick, pointed this "street tile" out to me which is about 2 blocks from our office in downtown NYC - the east crossing of Warren on West Broadway:

It's on Google Maps; looks like it was fully intact when they did their street capture:

So I looked up the portion I could make out and it turns out there is quite a backstory to this tile. The phenomena seemed to have started in Philadelphia. Here's the wiki entry but you can find many more sites about these:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toynbee_tiles
And it gets more interesting, there was a documentary made. You can buy it on Amazon, or you can watch the full version here on Vimeo:

You may find this whole thing interesting if you have any interest in Arnold J. Toynbee, Stanley Kubrick or just a real life mystery...

On a side note, do you ever wonder if an artist would do something so random and unusual so as to capture the imagination of people without having a deeper meaning to it other then that?
Note - if you have Amazon Prime, there is a free version of the documentary you can watch there as well.
Here's what the tile I posted says:

RESURRECTED DEAD
PLANET JUPiTER
“A REAL RESURRECTION is EASY AND iS PROV-ED BY FiRST CAVEMAN WHO MADE FiRST OF GENUS TOOLS”

The last day was a mini-journey as I indulged an obsession with these tiles. A few thoughts to share...
In the documentary, when the internet was "born", one of the guys stakes out the library for the first day they have computers hooked up to the internet. He does a search for the tiles and finds nothing. After some period of time, he comes back to do the same search, and he gets some hits. Only years and years later do they finally "solve" everything. Compare that to present day. Yesterday I took a few of the words from the tile, popped it into google, and within minutes had links to all related sites. Discovered right away there was a dedicated website and documentary. Within a couple of hours the whole mystery was wrapped up. Think about how incredible that is.
I think the "Tiler" is no different than any of us that are alternative thinkers, whether you buy into his "resurrect the dead" theory or not. He bumped into the mainstream media, and came up with various ways to go around it. If there had been the internet as it is today, he probably would have used it as his vehicle of choice instead of the tiles. I have to wonder why he didn't embrace it at some point.
Out of all the guys, Justin Duerr stands out as having been the most obsessed. As crazy as he seems, and as much of an outsider as he is, he's so articulate and smart. I'll be checking in on him from time to time, here's his website: http://justinduerr.com/

Just watched the Vimeo movie and it is excellent. The mystery of the Toynbee Tiler unfolds beautifully, and it rightly includes info on the people who have researched this story and how it their lives are intertwined with the unfolding of the mystery.
The Toynbee Tiler is definitely a "man who knows something" and he seems to be on the same wave length as other whistleblowers and truth tellers who we discuss on Avalon. Presumably, he was the "Jame Morasco" when he called various Philadelphia talk shows (https://web.archive.org/web/20040405211334/http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascitystar/living/special_packages/starmagazine/6702715.htm) and discussed "the theory on bringing dead molecules back to life". Perhaps the concept of "DNA" was not as prevalent then and may not have entered his vocabulary then, but he may have been talking about is replicating the human genome, and, in the tradition of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, creating new life. This seems to be a message about Trans-humanism and Eugenics, which we here about all the time here on Avalon, for example:
Just a few other places where we hear similar ideas:
Bill Ryan's synopsis of the "Rulers of the World" interview (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2KDtqIP7kk), starting around minute 12, concerning how there is interest in the human genome.
The work of various Alien Abduction researchers, especially David Jacobs (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?90597-Interview-with-Dr-David-Jacobs-premier-abductions-researcher&p=1067472), concerning alien interest in the human genome and possible uses for it.
Freeman Fly's (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?90488-Ep.-448-FADE-to-BLACK-Jimmy-Church-w-Freeman-Fly-Worldwide-Conspiracy-LIVE&p=1066895&highlight=Freeman) work on the use of taking the DNA of mummified Egyptian Pharoah's and
bringing the to life and installing them in place of leadership.
One web cite stated that The Toynbee Tiler's uncle had a funeral home and buried some of the rich and powerful. Since he was involved in "mummification" (here "embalming"), one has to wonder if he was instructed to do this in the manner of preserve DNA, so that it can also be used for "resurrection", and if this is how he got inside information about this agenda.
As far as I'm concerned, there is still more to this mystery.
