Hi, I tried to download a software for this purpose and both Malwarebytes and AVG blocked it and called it a threat.

Does anyone know a safe software for recording a Skype video call?

It doesn't have to be free even though paying for something doesn't mean that it is automatically trustworthy. I was invited to a Skype conversation and the participants are suggesting we record it. I wish to do so.

Apologies I asked this here in General but I figured some folks at Avalon may know a safe software to do this. If Administration feels this thread should be moved, no problem with me...

Thanks
Sam

Camtasia should work. It costs, but you could download the trail and take it for a spin. We use it from time to time for screenrecordings, it can do anything you see on your computer into a recorded movie.

Hi Sam Hunter.
There are many software to do this..
Like Camtasia (very good software) but you have to buy it if you want all features and some freeware ( totally free to use).
I found this one (not tested) but its worth to evaluate.

Hi Sam.

You should have told us what you have tried :)

But try this: http://icecreamapps.com/

push the button 'Learn more' on the Screen Recorder.

100% free. no trials OBS.

Setup the source as your screen. You can minimize it to just have the skype window over the area where you see the video. Set it to capture audio from windows desktop. If you want to edit it at all i highly recommend changing the video format to MP4 instead of an FLV file.

If all this Software did not work for you the number Two in Screenrecording behind Camtasia is Fraps. This also costs in the Professional version but it also has a trailversion you can take for a spin.
