It's the consequences of the 7.8 Ecuador earthquake which took place on the 16th of April if I'm not mistaken. Certain liquids which get released during a quake, start traveling towards east (beneath the surface obviously) and create more tremors along the way, especially in places where the tectonic plates are known for that. At least this is the basis of Tsiapas Theory (http://www.tsiapas.gr/forumgr/viewtopic.php?f=26&t=113) (it's in Greek unfortunately), a Greek seismologist who I've been following the past few years and it's extremely accurate. According to the theory, after the Algeria quake, in some days Italy will blow up a bit (maybe the volcanoes there too) and then Greece (very dangerous period for Greece).

This may tie into the fracking article I posted in that other oil/fracking (?) thread. Neighbouring Morocco has also been suffering earthquakes close to the Algerian border. I don't have much time to look up that post now.
