probably he would have learned his sentences and just pulled them out of his head in that fashion...
I have been on telly before and tried to do the same thing, knowing that there would be various takes interupted by planes , traffic etc.
I read kept re-reading what I wanted to say between takes... maybe he has his words pinned up to read from or a teleprompter to read off...
