Theresa May has promised to put workers on the boards of major
firms and curb excess corporate pay, as she starts her campaign
to be Tory leader and PM.

The home secretary vowed to put the Conservative Party "at the
service" of working people.

Mrs May, who campaigned to stay in the EU, also said: "Brexit means
Brexit and we're going to make a success of it."

Party members will choose between Mrs May and energy minister
Andrea Leadsom in a nationwide leadership vote.

In her speech, Mrs May said of the referendum result: "Brexit means
Brexit and we're going to make a success of it," adding that there
would be "no attempt to rejoin [the EU] by the back door".

Some of you may not know who she is , but feel her name is familiar ?
well she did block the extradition of Gary McKinnon. Whether she is
interested in UFO's is a different question ? but she must have been
exposed to his motives and belief in the subject. It also suggests she
may not be pushed around in the Brexit discussions , though we will
find out soon enough , though she wanted to wait till 2017 to trigger

Politics everywhere is getting quite strange ! There are no longer any certainties, and people seem not to trust the main parties (possibly with good reason). I'd love to know the real reason behind Mrs Leadsom's change of mind.

Here in Oz it has taken 8 days to find out who won--- (we have complicated methods of election with expressed preferences electing representatives and in close seats they were still deciding deciding the 'winner' 8 days later - and proportional representation in the Upper House. ) The Upper House is still not decided! It is expected to take about 3 weeks more. Happy Days!

The oddest thing of all is that things jogged along nicely for the time there was no government! It was nice and peaceful without the arguing.

The main point to take away from this is that 'they' are re-politicking the entire issue as quickly as possible.

Anywhere, any direction, will do, for now, as long it puts distance between the raw referendum result and the political here-n-now game.

edit to add:

It's worthy to mention that what the referendum told them was that the country is split almost 50/50 about something that stirs up heated talk and actions. That's something that's right up May's street, I guess.

Campaigners Call for End to 'Failed Corporate Coup' TTIP After Brexit

By David on 14 July 2016 GMT

‘Campaign group Global Justice Now has told Sputnik that, since the result of the
British referendum on its EU membership, precipitating Brexit, the controversial
Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) talks should be halted.

The latest round of negotiations to create the biggest trade deal in the world
between the European Union and the United States began Monday (July 11) for the
first time since the UK signaled it would be leaving the EU, with Brexit top of the agenda.

“The TTIP negotiations were already on pretty shaky ground before the EU
referendum, and now the shockwaves of Brexit are threatening to derail the deal
entirely. With senior political figures from France and Italy signaling that the deal is
dead in the water, surely Celia Malmström [European Trade Commissioner] should
call time on this failed corporate coup.’

Ok CS, calm down. ;)

Here's a chunk of TV talk I just came across. I couldn't get the search function to work on the link so I don't know if it's been posted before.

Seems quite bang on to me:

Boris Johnson: How Britain's new foreign secretary has insulted the world

Boris isn't quite this affectionate with Trump: he has accused him of "stupefying ignorance"

In case you have just emerged from a desert island or a long sleep: the UK has a new
prime minister, Theresa May, who in turn has appointed a new foreign secretary.
The man who will be representing Britain's interests abroad is Boris Johnson. Yes, that
Boris Johnson, the tousle-haired, barrel-bellied engineer of the UK's exit from the EU.
It's an appointment that's been treated with some shock around the world - not least
because he has been less than diplomatic about other countries and their leaders before.
Some of his positions, often outlined in his newspaper columns, also risk clashing with
his own government's official stance.

Did Rupert Murdoch Choose Britain’s New Prime Minister?

By David on 15 July 2016 GMT

Did Rupert Murdoch Choose Britain’s New Prime Minister?

Robert Mackey
July 12 2016, 1:57 p.m.

‘When Prime Minister David Cameron announced on Monday that he would be moving
out of 10 Downing Street quite a bit sooner than planned, not in September, but on
Wednesday — leaving the house, the office, and the cat to his successor, Theresa May
— the abrupt end to his lame duck tenure seemed like a weight off his shoulders. And
indeed Cameron was overheard humming a jaunty tune as he made his own personal
Brexit, stage left.

But the backroom process through which the British Conservative Party had suddenly
chosen May as its new leader, and hence prime minister — cutting short a campaign
that was supposed to take two months and end with more than 120,000 members of
the party’s grassroots getting to vote either for her or her rival, Andrea Leadsom —
left many troubling questions unresolved.’

US official breaks out in a wide grin at the news that Boris is now Foreign Minister

qo_QHiFHrUc

Published on 14 Jul 2016

US State Department Official Mark Toner, seems to quickly conceal a huge grin which broke out
briefly when he was told that Boris Johnson is now the new Foreign Secretary. Boris, Oxford educated,
urbane, widely travelled and clearly enthusiastic fan and salesman of the British Brand is also seen as
gaffe prone, irreverent and more of a big picture guy than a detail oriented diplomat.

He is also a US citizen by birth in New York....
