Police in the German city of Munich say the perpetrators of a shooting
attack are still on the run, and they advise people to avoid public places.
There are reports of at least six people killed, but police have not confirmed
that figure. A big security operation is under way at the Olympia shopping
centre in the north-western Moosach district. Shop workers have been
unable to leave the building. There is no information about a possible motive
for the attack.

The police Facebook page quoted eyewitnesses as saying they had seen t

from what I have researched, and its fairly significant, most of the time no one has died at all....

Its been commented on by several reporters how quick the police responded to
the attack , granted it is a major city and they are armed and a state of high alert
is on going after recent attacks. But it does remind me of the drills in the UK
last year in a Manchester shopping Mall and in London that were both realistic.

shootings and had no known links to the Islamic State group, German police say.

The teenage gunman who killed nine people in Munich on Friday
had been planning his attack for a year, German authorities say.

David Ali Sonboly, 18, who had a Glock pistol and more than 300
bullets, killed himself after the attack.Bavarian officials said the
gunman, still not officially named, appeared to have bought the
illegal pistol used in the attack on the so called "dark net".

Vigils continue in the city to commemorate the victims.

Seven of the dead were teenagers - two Turks, two Germans,
a Hungarian, a Greek and a Kosovan.A further 35 people were
injured, but only four of them have bullet wounds.The state
government officials told a news conference that the victims of
the attack had not been specifically targeted and were not
classmates of the gunman.Also they did not include three youths
allegedly involved in bullying Sonboly when he was at school.

Funerals have taken place in Kabul for victims of Saturday's suicide bomb
attack claimed by so-called Islamic State (IS), which killed 80 people.

Munich shootings: Police arrest 16-year-old Afghan

Police in Munich say they have arrested a 16-year-old Afghan friend of David
Ali Sonboly, who killed nine people at a Munich shopping centre on Friday.

They say the teenager is under investigation for failing to report the attacker's
plans, and that he could have been an accomplice.

Sonboly, 18, had been planning his attack for a year, police said earlier.

They say he had a Glock pistol which he may have bought on the so-called dark net.

A statement on Munich police's Facebook page says: "There is a suspicion that
the 16-year-old is a possible tacit accomplice to the attack."

Armed police have sealed off the centre of Ansbach

An explosion at a bar in the southern German city of Ansbach, near Nuremberg,
has killed one person and injured at least 11 others, reports say.

There are conflicting reports about the cause, although the city's mayor is quoted
as saying it was an "explosive device".

Police have sealed off the area around Eugene's Wine Bar, the Nordbayern.de
news website reported.

Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Herrmann is on his way to the scene.

The interior ministry said that the explosion appeared to have been intentional,
contradicting initial reports that suggested it might have been a gas explosion.
Ansbach Mayor Carda Seidel told journalists that the explosion was caused by
an explosive device, Nordbayern.de said (in German).

The city's central square is packed with emergency vehicles and a town house
is being used as an operations centre, the report added.The incident comes
amid tension following other bloody events in Germany over the past week.
A shooting rampage in Munich on Friday left nine dead while an axe attack
on a train a week ago in Wuerzburg, Bavaria, injured several people.

Syrian who had lived in Germany for two years but was denied asylum
in the country a year ago, according to Bavaria's top security official.

He blew himself up outside the wine bar in Ansbach, near Nuremburg,
after being denied access to the nearby Ansbach Open music festival,

Hermann said it is unclear if the suspect intended to kill others or just
himself but said he had “tried to commit suicide” twice before and had
previously been in psychiatric care in the district hospital in Ansbach.

Of the 12 people injured, three were critically injured in the blast, police said.

I have to say one thing... It is quite sad that you start to get accustomed to these kind of attacks. That being said I always feel bad for those who get hurt and killed, but these days you know to expect these things. They don't occur every other month like before, now they occur weekly. I do have my suspicions about some darker agendas behind many of these events, but this whole situation with humanity is quite sad indeed. I have started looking into the mushrooming hype over "blockchain" technology, which first appeared in Bitcoin, and which appears to be evolving into a technology that can support peer-to-peer contracts, property transfers, and other such legally binding real world interactions, without dependence on a trusted third party (such as a bank, stock exchange, or government agency) to identify and authenticate the participants, to insure that the transaction is in accords with their mutual intent, and to record the transaction for prosperity.

The "Web" supports servers offering up information, and users posting changes to that information. It's fundamentally a client-server information sharing model, in which anyone with modest resources, internet access and sufficient liberty, can provide such a website, and in which anyone with so much as cell phone access can read and contribute to any such website that allows it.

The "blockchain" as it's called, will extend the sharing of information, to also support the negotiation and recording of contracts, agreements and property transfers, whether paying for a cup of coffee, or conducting a leveraged buyout of General Motors.

The "blockchain" is poorly named in my view. We don't call the entire Web "the website" - there will be many "blockchains", as there are many websites. Be that as it may, the "blockchain" technology is in its first phase of irrational exuberance, like the "Web" was in the dot-com era of the 1990's, prior to the NASDAQ (US tech stocks) crash between March 2000 and October 2002, during which the NASDAQ lost 78% of its value.

In my expectation, some sort of internet protocol, suitable for such peer-to-peer trusted negotiations and transfers of property, assets, and legally binding obligations, will rise like the Phoenix from the ashes of an upcoming "blockchain" technology crash.

Many major institutions of the present epoch will be "disintermediated" by this new technology, just as newspapers, encyclopedias, and broadcast (radio and TV) news anchors are being disintermediated by the Web.

First however humanity has to get through a very painful adolescence, without self destructing. Our "parents" who have managed our affairs thus far have been quite abusive, so we're not in the best of shape.

Japan Sagamihara knife attack: At least 15 dead, reports say

At least 15 people have died in a knife attack at a residential care centre
for the disabled in the Japanese city of Sagamihara, local media reported.

Another 45 people are reported to have been injured in the attack, which
happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning local time.

A suspect - a man in his 20s - has been arrested after handing himself in,
police said.

He reportedly went into a police station and said "I did it".

Sagamihara lies west of Tokyo, and is part of Kanagawa Prefecture.

There’s a certain “yawn…” moment looming about “daily shooter” phenomena provided, of course,
that you are not getting shot yourself. It stems from predictability. What independent media dub
“anomalies” does not seem so anomalous anymore, because anomalies themselves are apparently
inevitable, and therefore: predictable, even more so then the main line of events mediated by mass media.

We are talking, of course, about frequent unreliability of media images, ties of perpetrators to some
form of security and/or intelligence services, unbelievable nature of not so minute details of the story, etc.

Last Friday, all of Germany stood still as news arrived of another terrible
shooting. After news outlets reported that a young man shot several people
outside a shopping center in the city of Munich, many believed that the first
“Islamist” terrorist attack had taken place in the country. After it became
clear that the gunman, Ali David Sonboly, had Iranian roots, media outlets
from Berlin to New York City did not hesitate to link him with Islam. Man
news channels preferred to call Sonboly—who was born and raised in Germany
—a “German-Iranian,” instead of just “German.” Furthermore, many reports,
mostly based on rumors which circulated during the first hours after the
massacre, claimed that Sonboly shouted the supposedly characteristic
“Allahu Akbar” before he murdered his innocent victims.

While the Bavarian police tried to tamp down on the uncorroborated chatter
and baseless reports, right-wing politicians did their best to exploit the scenario,
inciting hatred and fear against Muslims, migrants and refugees.
