CONTEXT : Its often a neglected aspect of some of these major cases , the timing
and context of the current world events they appear , which may not fully be
appreciated by the community or the general public......

This is still one of the best documented UFO cases so far carried out on a joint US /
UK Airbase at the height of the cold war. The base illegally storing nuclear war
heads probably the largest stock of such weapons in western Europe at the time.
There were various flashpoints in Poland with the solidarity movement facing off
with the Soviet backed Polish government who were part of the Warsaw pact, this
was a decade before the Berlin wall came down and the fall of the Soviet Union and
their satellite states.

Also the tension with Iran was still going on after the fall of the Shah and the taking
of the US hostages in Tehran and the failed rescue mission by President Carter

Gary served in the RAF Police 1983-1989 before spending an almost 24 year career
in the British Transport Police (1989-2013). He also guarded British nuclear bomb
warhead airbases as part of his military career so has a unique view of this case.

In December 1980, Larry Warren was a member of the Air Force security police

away, which turned out to be a landed UFO. This was the third night of UFO activity
in the area and by far the most profound. When the men were debriefed the next

During one close encounter, Staff Sergeant Jim Penniston says he even touched a
small triangular craft describing it as "smooth to touch" with strangle symbols
similar to ancient Egyptian hieroglyphs before it zoomed away.Col Halt led a small
team of experts into the woods when the UFO returned two nights later and made a
20-minute tape recording as he described the object as like a 'red winking eye'.

He also filed a memo detailing the incident to the British Ministry of Defence which
was released under auspices of the Freedom of Information Act a few years later.
The most controversial aspect of the incident are reports the UFO fired beams of
light into the 'weapons storage area' - a term used by the military for nuclear
bunkers.Retired detective Gary claims Col Halt told him that RAF Bentwaters
had "more nuclear missiles in the weapons storage area (WSA) than anywhere else
in Europe".He says the high-ranking USAF official made the shocking admission as
they toured the base and Rendlesham Forest for a documentary, which was never
made.Col Halt is one of the highest ranking military witnesses in the world to have
talked about UFOs.

Gary, who guarded nukes while serving in the RAF Police, said: "As my wife Lynn
and I walked with Colonel Halt through Rendlesham Forest I clearly remember him
saying 'that there were more nuclear weapons in the WSA at Bentwaters than
anywhere else in the whole of Europe' and he laughed that the peace protesters
who were just up the road camped outside Greenham Common were oblivious as to
where they really were."

Backing up her husband, Lynn said: "I clearly remember Colonel Halt saying that
there were 'more nuclear weapons in the WSA at Bentwaters than anywhere else in
Europe'. It has always stayed with me because of the fact that the peace protesters
at Greenham Common had been duped."

However Col Halt told Mirror.co.uk​​​​​​​​: "My comment to Gary was, 'It appears the
beam was in or near the weapons storage area'.

"Keep in mind I was a mile or more away. I never made such a statement about
weapons to Gary. Those are his conclusions."

The UK and US governments have always had a policy of neither confirming nor
denying that weapons of mass destruction were stored at the base.If the USAF base
did indeed have nukes it could have contravened UK/US armament treaty
obligations of the day.In December 1980, the base was on high alert as Soviet
troops were massing on the border of Poland over Lech Walesa and the rise of the
solidarity movement and there was a US hostage crisis ongoing in the Middle East.

here. There were lights around the centre but not like navigation lights.

"It was more like portholes, as if you were seeing the lights from the inside coming out. It
hovered momentarily, reversed its course and went back out a high rate of speed."

made a sharp right angle turn at high speed before it left the area.He said: "It was just

The radar experts, who did not report the sighting to their superiors over fears it could ruin
their careers, are among more than 150 military witnesses who have reported UFO activity

Interesting article and may be worth a individual thread when more details emerge
but the article does mention Roswell though the MOD are still saying its lights and
basically as in the Roswell case that the intel officer Major Marcel and others on the
only atomic bomb base at the time and the deputy Base commander Col Holt and
many others on a nuclear bomb base in the UK are nuts. NOT GOOD ENOUGH !!

The Suffolk sightings resurfaced claims from those living in Roswell, New Mexico, in
1947 when an unexpected crash was alleged to have been the remains of a
spacecraft and alien bodies. But this was rejected by the U.S. military following a
close investigation into the wreckage.

The British Ministry of Defence has also dismissed the claims regarding Rendlesham.
It said there was no threat to national security and the UFOs were likely to be caused by a series of nocturnal lights.

‘A dossier of files kept secret by the UK government for almost 50 years has
finally been released for the first time.The cache of 15 files, which have been
published by the National Archives, contain details of UFO sightings seen all
over the country.They contain information about a number of high profile
incidents that are believed to be related to extra-terrestrials, including in
Rendlesham Forest in 1980, dubbed ‘Britain’s Roswell.’

Mysteriously, the files have not yet been digitised so enthusiasts must go to
London’s National Archives in Kew if they want to have access to them.
The papers were originally meant to be released in 2013 alongside thousands
of others which did see the light of day, but 18 specific documents were withheld.’

In this episode, our guest is Steve LaPlume and we are going to talk about his new book: "From Rendlesham to Redemption: A Story of Transformation", which chronicles the night of January 28, 1981, when a second UFO incident occurred exactly one month after the now famous Rendlesham/Bentwaters event.

Steven was a Security Specialist in the United States Air Force obtaining the rank of Airman First Class - E-3. After his formal military service was finished Steve worked as a professional soldier for various countries and entities.

Steve raced Super bike motorcycles for a number of years and worked as a project planner and consultant in the Petro-Chemical field. He eventually moved to and lived in Shanghai China for 8.5 years where he manufactured motorcycle apparel and parts as well as worked as a professional actor in numerous movies and tv series. He also works on occasion as a professional body guard and consulted for Shipley’s consulting firm. Steve also took up racing superbikes again, while in China, as well as instructing new racers.
