Yesterday, Zagreb (where I live) was hit by a storm like no other before... two people died as far as I've heard, with many injured. All this was preceded by extreme heat of around 40 degrees Celsius. The city is in total chaos and this is not a normal weather for this region.
It looked like the apocalypse!

We have a fire 🔥 almost a week now here in Rhodos, burning everything in its path. This Greek island is a big forest and they failed to control the fire 5 days now. The fire was far away from me and i had no reasons to worry about, but after all these days the fire is still burning the Island and now is 10kh away from me,they evacuated a lot of villages and everyone is just hoping for a miracle. Seems like the government cant do anything about it and they just waiting for the fire to burn everything to stop or head to the sea. Thats the reality here in Greece, if you dont protect your family nobody will. Stay safe everybody!!

Largest US Power Grid Declares Emergency Alert Amid Scorching Heat

A heat wave continues to blast the Midwest, Northeast, and South through the end of the work week, forcing the largest US grid operator to declare a level one emergency for Thursday as tens of millions of people crank up air conditioners to escape scorching temperatures as summer in the Northern Hemisphere peaks.

On Wednesday evening, PJM Interconnection LLC declared an Energy Emergency Alert Level 1 in 13 states that stretch from Illinois to New Jersey with over 65 million customers. PJM is concerned about maintaining adequate power reserves on Thursday as power demand is set to soar because of air conditioners. It expects demand to reach 153,286 megawatts as of 1700 ET and has about 186,000 megawatts of generating capacity.

https://assets.zerohedge.com/s3fs-public/styles/inline_image_mobile/public/inline-images/2023-02-25_08-48-49.png?itok=Xp_3Lixo

The power mix of the grid shows natural gas, coal, and nuclear are doing most of the heavy lifting of 0600 ET. Power prices across the grid appear normal.

Before corporate media blames "human-induced climate change" on power grid woes, we must note PJM's reliability has worsened because of federal and state decarbonization policies (https://www.zerohedge.com/commodities/americas-largest-power-grid-faces-worsening-reliability-risks).

This Zero Hedge article is suspicious and propagandic.

I live in the center of the purple (most affected) region. The temperature today at 4pm has reached only 91 F (33 C) with a nice breeze and some humidity (63%). Tomorrow looks to be similar in weather, then the temperature and humidity are forecasted to significantly drop for the next several days.

These numbers are actually typical for this region and so the energy consumption should not be unusual or unexpected. "Consumption soar" is relative.

If we have an energy grid issue over this slight rise in temperature/humidity, then there's a real problem, unrelated to weather.

Wow that is pretty big. I read the lengthier report; it ended with this sobering paragraph:

And today (update!) a third comparable study by Danish colleagues has been published, Ditlevsen & Ditlevsen 2023 (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-023-39810-w), which expects the tipping point already around 2050, with a 95% uncertainty range for the years 2025-2095.

So this could be much closer than we think. Not to sound alarmist but the effects of this collapse would change Europe in profound ways - particularly the northern half of the continent (eg. the UK), which relies on this circulation for a temperate, stable climate. Without it...well this film below projected the potential scenario:

https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/S/pv-target-images/8068ed99562fd74be29dae72513ca664226094bd40a8951f88ef90088c32e092._UY500_UX667_RI_TTW_.jpg

To add, while most of Europe has been baking this July the UK has been anything but. Here we've recorded 20 days of rain out of (nearly) 30 so far and temperatures barely hitting 20C at any point (70F). Most of the time it's been in the teens, and some nights have hit single digits. In July. Which is unusual to say at least after multiple Indian summers in a row here. Personally I've been loving it. Give me cool and rainy over scorching heat any day.

As a follow-on from the previous post...it's business as usual with climate alarmism. But hold your horses, it's not a global warming any more, no that's not dramatic enough, it's "global boiling" now!

Can you believe this BS??

Please do check out the comments below the video. Consider it research. I think it has some useful utility in gauging what the climate is really doing, and across the world, as seen from ground level through the eyes of normal people.

@travisfriedrich2924
“Be afraid! Be weak! Be depressed! Be self-hating! Be obedient!” That’s all they’re saying.

@franciscosandiego3026
All this global warming is a liberal problem. Here in the desert it's 115 + in the summer for 52 years of my life

@Jason-de9mq
This is one of the coolest July's I can remember of my 45 years of life. I live in Wisconsin. I tend to believe what I experience over what a politician or global warming alarmist says.

@minuteman4199
It's the same here in Ontario. I haven't needed air conditioning at all this summer, yet every day there are "extreme heat warnings" from our government weather agency.

@arbiter9180
Hottest July ever has really fallen on its face here in Denver. Barely has broken 90 this year.

@byronlemay2166
Last winter here in Denver was among the coldest straight thru from November to March that we've had in the 30 years I've lived here.

@mikevismyelement
I keep getting weather alerts for "near record heat" and when I look at it, it is 6-8 degrees off the record. Like yeah, it is hot in the south in July...

@bullshizzmccoy4034
In Illinois (East St. Louis), the hottest day on record was 117°F on July 14th, 1954. We have yet to crack 100°F this year.

@robtimuscron1126
Here in Commiefornia it's the same rhetoric. Except....in my region, June 2023 had the lowest June temps in 30 years. And, while we got hit with that "heat dome" a few weeks ago...for 2 days, July 2023 has had 16 days where the daily high was in fact the lowest ever record, and 10 days with overnight record low temperatures. Last night it was 58 degrees F, the first time it's been below 60 degrees in July in 100 years. Global boiling, my ass. Right now, today, at 1pm, it is currently 20 degrees F cooler than it was on this day last year

@mrcody333cam
It’s an unbearable 75 degrees today in San Diego CA . Clearly we’re doomed.

@masterphillips
I live in Phoenix. I can assure you it's been blistering hot for weeks because we haven't had our first monsoon storm yet. We call it June and July, every year.

@gregsmith7949
I live in Florida, you know, that state that should be underwater by now. We had a mild spring this year now we're experiencing a TYPICAL Florida summer. Highs in the low to mid 90s F.

@stormcrow7698
This has been one of the mildest summers in a long time in Alabama. I work in it.

@mpnasr
June 1990 - I survived the 122 degree summer. Global boiling every year in Phoenix.

@scottgarcia5036
This weather in AZ is nothing new. Hottest that I remember is 122

@bethg.5611
I was there in the seventies and I remember 118°

@Awakeandalive1
In the US in Maine it has been consistently unseasonably cold, so they are simultaneously issuing catastrophic heat declarations...while also warning people to dress & prepare for cold weather. The Weather Channel assures us that our town in the South East US will have record heat tomorrow...even though it predicts it will only be 87 F which is a good 10 degrees F cooler than the actual record... Before I had kids, I was an avid cyclist, hiker & kayaker, so I got in the habit of assiduously tracking weather patterns (enabling me to maximize my outdoorsmanship). I noticed that every year the "experts" declared it was the hottest year ever, but the records routinely said the hottest years were back in the 1970s or 1990s. My friends & neighbors refused to believe it -- they'd become so disconnected from nature that they ignored their own sensory information & memories and believed implicitly whatever the "experts" told them. I've since moved house, gotten married, had kids, but I kept on tracking the weather because my job now requires me to spend most of the day outside, and we raise livestock on our property at home so even my home time is mostly spent outdoors tending to animals. And again, people keep claiming it's the hottest year ever, that we're breaking records, etc. when the hottest year in this region was actually 2005...and the coldest was 2001!
Of fires being deliberately started

@lordred4116
My Daughter has just returned from Crete, apparently people have been starting fires in the wooded areas, and the local fire brigade is always depleted in summer, as fireman take better paying jobs in the tourist spots for the season.

@shrdn2960
I'm Sardinian, born and raised there. I can tell you we had 47 degrees years ago and we always had scorching hot summers during which the land gets so dry it cracks. But that NEVER caused wildfires. In fact, most of (if not all) the wildfires we had and have are the result of arson.

@mrbill4206
Where i live we have had the best summer i can remember. Sunny and 80 degrees with no big thunderstorms and occasional rain but instead we are showed bright red nuclear doom weather maps by tv weather stations . Arsonists are setting record numbers of fires and being caught but that news is hard to find . Instead as soon as the arson thing came up the media started talking about lightning starting all of them.

@vekuis
Same in Croatia, fires started by arsenist, yesterday..

Crazy fire from the US spread to Canada: Entire city is being evacuated right now

(As if Canada didn't have enough fires already!)

"In Canada, an entire city has been evacuated due to a threatening wildfire. Local authorities have ordered the evacuation of the city of Osoyoos in British Columbia. Residents of the suburbs of this community will also be evacuated. This decision was made by the local municipality due to the inability to stop the forest fire.
The fire spread to Canada from the US state of Washington. The wildfire is now raging about 4 km (2.5 miles) from Osoyoos and is threatening to spread to residences. On the Canadian side, it covered about 885 ha (2.186 acres). On the American side, the fire has spread to about 2,000 hectares (4,942 acres), according to the BC Wildfire Service.
Local emergency services have already been dispatched to the scene of the fire. Helicopters, aircraft and heavy equipment are also involved.
In the spring and summer of 2023, Canada was engulfed by the largest wildfires in years. Thick smog stretched for hundreds of kilometers and reached New York."

The torrential downpour transformed roads into rivers, sweeping away cars and disrupting daily life. Not the topic of this thread, but because of Europe's serious energy price/shortage problems, that'll lead to all kinds of difficult economic and social issues there. Readers and forum members in the UK/EU should be braced and prepared. :flower:

Biblical floods wipe out Beijing. Mandate of Heaven? Why are they covering this up?

9LbLXRtGoDg
The China Show hosts, Winston Sterzel and Matthew Tye discuss the unprecedented flooding in Northern China, which is a mostly semi-arid region and which has no records throughout its multi-millennial history of flooding like what they’re seeing now. It is literally the worst flooding in the documented history of China – in the capital city where the government is located – and many of their brand-new bridges are collapsing and you’re not going to be hearing too much about it.

The Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square were completely flooded, which is seen as very inauspicious for the current dynasty ruling the country, from a traditional point of view – and this is exactly why you’re not hearing about it, despite the fact that the press is constantly on the lookout to ascribe all weather events to “Climate Change”.

They show a bridge collapse in Beijing and how when the emergency crews showed up, their first concern was not to attempt to rescue anybody whose cars got swept into the raging water but instead, to put up blinds so that people on the next bridge would not be able to see the collapsed bridge beside them. They physically censored the bridge collapse!

Heavy rainfall in India’s Himachal Pradesh has caused huge landslides. At least 30 people have died, and the casualty count is increasing.

The strong monsoon has brought huge floods and landslides, destroying several buildings. In Shimla, a Shiva temple came down in the flood waters, killing nine, including three children.

According to local news, it’s feared that nearly 50 people might be buried under the debris. Rescue efforts are currently underway.

The entire world is currently burning and it’s not because of “climate change”
Well, isn't this just a delightful twist of fate? The entire world is having a little bonfire, and no, it's not the usual climate change culprit. Nope, this time it's a global marshmallow roast of a different flavor. Who needs polar ice when you can have a good old-fashioned non-climate-related blaze? Time to grab your sunscreen and marshmallows – the world's on fire for entirely different reasons!'

Footage of destruction in Taiwan! Winds of 205 km/h, Super Typhoon Haikui in Taitung

Typhoon Haikui moved across Taiwan on Sunday, unleashing torrential downpours, accelerating winds and plunging thousands of households into darkness after the first big storm to hit the island directly in four years made landfall.

More than 7,000 people were evacuated from high-risk areas, while hundreds of flights were cancelled and businesses closed in preparation for the storm.

Taiwan’s central weather bureau confirmed to Agence France-Presse that the typhoon made landfall at 3.40pm local time in coastal Taitung, a mountainous county in lesser-populated eastern Taiwan.

Triple Typhoons Batter Guangdong: Unprecedented Devastation, China Become a Vast Ocean Again!

"In a remarkable convergence of weather events, China faces an unprecedented challenge with three powerful typhoons threatening its coastal regions. As Typhoon Saola made a double landfall in Guangdong on September 2nd, narrowly avoiding Taiwan, the nation remains on edge as Typhoon 11 Haikui and Typhoon 12 Hongyan follow close behind.
China's National Meteorological Center reports extensive ramifications due to the triple typhoon threat. On September 2nd, torrential and extremely heavy rain battered western Guangdong and eastern Guangxi, causing flooding in multiple areas. Guangdong regions such as Yunfu, Maoming, Jiangmen, Yangjiang and Guangxi's region of Wuzhou witnessed extreme rainfall ranging from 250 to 360 millimeters. Coastal areas in central Guangdong and eastern Guangxi faced gusts ranging from level 8 to 10, with localized regions near Jiangmen experiencing gusts up to level 12.
The impact of the typhoons prompted authorities to initiate certain safety measures. Seven coastal cities, including Shenzhen, Zhuhai, Shanwei, Jieyang, Shantou, Huizhou, and Zhongshan, have activated a comprehensive "five-stop" approach: halting work, businesses, markets, transportation, and schooling. Residents have been advised to remain indoors, and vehicular movement has been significantly curtailed to minimize risks."

This is an English-language Ecuadorian article, but it's relevant for everyone. El Niño is creating havoc in weather systems all round the world.

Here in Ecuador, we have two seasons, wet and dry. 'Dry' = 'summer', lasting from June—December.
Summer this year started off gray, cloudy and wet, but now (as predicted) it's shifted to being clear, dry and sunny every day, leading to water shortage problems in some areas. It's gorgeous right now. But it's understood that the pendulum could swing back to the other extreme at any time, which is what the article is about.

https://cuencahighlife.com/agency-warns-el-nino-continues-to-strengthen-says-catastrophic-flooding-and-drought-are-possible

~~~
Ecuador Agency warns El Niño continues to strengthen, says catastrophic flooding and drought are imminent
The International Center for Research on the El Niño Phenomenon (CIIFEN (https://ciifen.org/)) says conditions continue to favor a strong El Niño event and urges Ecuador coastal communities to complete disaster preparations.
https://cuencahighlife.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/06/el-nino3.png
The 1997-1998 El Niño devastated large areas of the Manabi Province coast.
Earlier this week, the government announced the yellow alert had been upgraded to an orange alert, meaning that preparations should now be in place for the arrival of El Niño.
In its September 20 bulletin, Ciifen said there has been “significant strengthening of El Niño conditions” and further strengthening is expected. It added that flooding rains could arrive on the coast and coastal lowlands sooner than previously expected. “We are advising all interests in the danger zone to prepare their response to the developing circumstances,” it said.
The reason for the quickening development, Ciifen says, is rising ocean temperatures. “Temperatures are 2.8 degrees Celsius above normal and this corresponds to conditions that preceded the 1997-1998 and 1972-1973 El Niños, both of which brought catastrophic flooding to Ecuador and Peru,” Ciifen Director Yolanda González said.
González said that heavy rains could arrive in November and continue through February of 2024.
According to González, coastal areas up to 1,000 meters in elevation should expect flooding rains while areas from 1,000 meters to 1,500 meters could experience a mix of heavy rains and drought. In the sierra, from 1,500 meters elevation upward, residents can expect drought conditions that could affect farming and electric power generation.
Europe is in Danger! Campi Flegrei Supervolcano in Italy is About to Erupt
"🌋 Did you know that there is an active supervolcano in the middle of Europe? Right in its crater is located the picturesque Italian town of Pozzuoli with a population of 80,000 people.
The Campi Flegrei supervolcano, together with the adjacent islands, forms a huge volcanic complex. For 80 thousand years of its existence, there were only two super-eruptions: about 36,000 and about 12,000 years ago. And it seems that in the near future, the supervolcano is also ready to erupt!
📽️ In this video, watch more about:
🔹 What's happening to the volcano right now?
🔹 What is bradyseism and what are the dangers of this process?
🔹 What is the reason for the start of the Campi Flegrei activation?
🔹 What mechanism triggers the eruption of a supervolcano?
Campi Flegrei is the volcano of the cycle, and its explosion, like a detonator, will set off a chain of explosions of all other volcanoes. It will be a catastrophe not only for Italy but for the whole of humanity.
This looks more like some anti-Israel group using weather manipulation technology.
link (https://bnn.network/finance-nav/rains-of-biblical-proportions-tel-aviv-under-water/)
It was a day like no other in Tel Aviv, Israel. The sun, usually a faithful companion to the city’s ever-bustling streets, was nowhere to be seen. The skies were painted an ominous grey, and the air held a chill that seemed to seep into the bones of the city’s inhabitants. It was not just another winter day; it was a day when the heavens opened up, and water, in biblical proportions, fell upon the city, turning familiar streets into uncharted rivers.
An Unfolding Crisis
The torrential rainfall proved too much for the city’s infrastructure to handle. Floodwaters coursed through the streets, turning avenues into rivers and plazas into lakes. Cars, usually masters of the road, were reduced to helpless vessels, bobbing along the waterlogged streets. Videos circulating on social media painted a surreal picture, with the city’s landmarks barely recognizable under the deluge. The heart of Israel’s economy, Tel Aviv was brought to its knees, its pulse slowed to a worrying crawl.
"The recent catastrophic natural disasters in India has stunned the world.
Extremely heavy monsoon rains triggered massive flash flooding and landslides, causing tremendous destruction across large parts of the country.
This monster natural disasters washed away millions of homes, businesses, and vehicles.
Sadly, hundreds of lives were also lost in the devastating flash floods and mudslides.
Scientists say climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of many types of natural disasters.
As the planet warms, weather patterns are disrupted, leading to more extreme rainfall capable of causing devastating natural disasters like this one.
India's vulnerability to these natural disasters is increased by its climate, mountainous terrain in many regions, and large population living in flood-prone areas.
This terrible tragedy underscores the urgent need to improve natural disasters preparedness and response.
Climate change is expected to keep worsening natural disasters around the world.
All nations must make resilience to these natural disasters a top priority.
Improved early warning systems, flood control infrastructure, and public education can help mitigate loss of life and destruction when the next inevitable natural disasters strikes.
The world grieves with India as the country works to recover and rebuild from this monster natural disasters.
We can only hope global leaders take the growing threat of climate change-fueled natural disasters seriously.
Looks like mama earth is pissed off looking at the videos from Italy and china.my buddy last week had his boat anchored off the coast in Virginia and went in on his smaller boat to go pick up another couple. When he came back his boat was grounded on shore from 12 ft waves that kicked up out of no where. He was double anchored in an approved anchor area and had checked the weather prior to departing with an all calm forecast. It totaled his 45 ft catamaran.
Right now he said the weather is very hot like 45 (Celsius) which is not very common in that area. He also told me his entire trip was under heavy rain, they could not go to many places because it was completely flooded.
The thumbnail images on those kinds of sources focused on weather often are faked, though it doesn't always necessarily mean the videos themselves are faked as well.
But more caution is no doubt advisable.
🇹🇿 Tanzania flood, landslide death toll jumps to 47
The number of people killed by floods and landslides in northern Tanzania has jumped to 47, with another 85 people injured, following torrential rain, a senior government official said.
Severe flooding caused by a combination of the El Nino and Indian Ocean dipole weather phenomena has killed hundreds of people in Kenya and Somalia and forced hundreds of thousands from their homes since seasonal rains began in October.
Search and rescue operations were underway in the Manyara region as authorities fear some bodies might be trapped in the mud, Manyara region commissioner told.
Around 100 houses in the village of Katesh, Hanang district, were swallowed by a landslide, President Samia Suluhu Hassan said.
I live approximately 25Km inland from Cairns, and we’re already seeing increased winds and rainfall. The rainfall will be welcome, as our water storage is down to less than 20,000L (20% capacity) following a particularly bad dry season over the last six months. [We use water for irrigation as well as domestic use]. But high winds will no doubt cause damage to many homes, and will cut our town off from the roads and supply lines for some time. Everyone up here has been through this before; as a relative newcomer to the Tablelands this will be my first experience with a tropical cyclone.
"Worst-Case Scenario" Volcano Erupts in Iceland near Power Plant
A volcano in the southwestern region of Iceland erupted on Monday, sending geysers of hot lava as high as 330 feet. The eruption was located near the Svartsengi geothermal power plant near the town of Grindavík, which was evacuated last month over an increase in seismic activity, the NY Times (https://www.nytimes.com/2023/12/18/world/europe/iceland-volcano-eruption-earthquakes.html?smid=nytcore-ios-share&referringSource=articleShare) reports.
https://assets.zerohedge.com/s3fs-public/styles/inline_image_mobile/public/inline-images/1875_jpg.jpg?itok=N3L_BAcR
"We are looking at a worst-case scenario," said Icelanding volcanologist, Thorvaldur Thordarson, adding "The eruption appears big, and only about two kilometers from major infrastructure."
Over the past two months, thousands of earthquakes have been detected in Iceland, leading to the November evacuations as homes and roads were damaged by the events. The situation deteriorated so rapidly that authorities declared a state of emergency, evacuating Grindavík - home to more than 3,000 people who live near the volcano.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hvcP4kVVOnk
Recently, the Meteorological office warned of a "significant likelihood of a volcanic eruption in coming days."
In just the past two years, there have been three eruptions on the Reykjanes Peninsula, Iceland’s most populated corner and home to its capital. When Grindavik was ordered evacuated on Nov. 11, the authorities said in a statement that the country was “highly prepared for such events.” -NYT
"Iceland has one of the world’s most effective volcanic preparedness measures," reads the local website.
Authorities also raised the aviation alert to orange due to dangers posed by the volcano to passing aircraft flying in the North Atlantic in the event ash is spewed in the sky.
In 2010, Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano erupted after being dormant for nearly two centuries. While nobody died, the impact was significant as the resultant ash cloud grounded much of Europe's air travel for over a week.
Iceland has around 400,000 residents and 130 or so volcanoes. In fact, since the 19th century, there hasn't been a single decade without one erupting. According to the tourist website, eruptions are "entirely random."
Escape From Ventura: Watch As Panicked Californians Flee 'Mini Tsunami'
BY TYLER DURDEN
FRIDAY, DEC 29, 2023 - 03:15 PM
Multiple freak waves, or what many are calling a 'mini tsunami' event, hit several coastal towns in California Thursday and Friday, with one particular big wall of water having left eight people hospitalized.
"Overall, this is expected to be an exceptional high-surf and coastal flooding event that has not occurred in many years," the weather service in Los Angeles warned amid a number of local beach evacuation orders being issued to prevent onlookers and bystanders from getting swept away. But this is exactly what happened in Southern California's Ventura County, when a wave inundated an entire street at Pierpont Beach where some twenty people had been lingering, stunning footage of which has since gone viral...
"We put evacuation warnings into place around 8 a.m. this morning for this area and, as you can see, these waves are incredibly powerful," a statement by the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office indicated.
"They're washing logs up here. A lot of debris, a lot of driftwood. So we've been asking people to avoid the direct coastal area," the statement added, after in some cases waves in the Santa Cruz area were recorded at up to 28 to 33 feet high.
December 31, 2023 - Major X-Class Solar Flare
"Mere hours after emerging over the sun's eastern limb on Dec. 31st, big sunspot AR3536 erupted, producing a major X5-class solar flare. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the extreme ultraviolet flash: [image]
This is the strongest flare of Solar Cycle 25 (so far) and the most powerful eruption the sun has produced since the great storms of Sept. 2017.
Radiation from the flare has caused a deep shortwave radio blackout over the Pacific Ocean: blackout map. Ham radio operators may notice loss of signal at all frequencies below 30 MHz for more than 60 minutes after the flare's peak (2155 UT).
It's too soon to know for sure, but this explosion probably launched a coronal mass ejection (CME) into space. Because the blast site is located near the extreme eastern edge of the sun, the CME is unlikely to have a significant Earth-directed component, but stay tuned."
"Update: This explosion caused a solar tsunami. You can see the shock wave in this animation from NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory."
A large sunspot is emerging over the sun's eastern limb. NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded its entrance on Dec. 31st:
This is the same sunspot we have been monitoring via helioseismology and Mars rover sightings over the past week. Until today, it was on the farside of the sun. Normally a sunspot of this size would raise alarms about possible solar flares, however, a dearth of farside CMEs in the past week suggests it may be a quiet giant.
Hi Eva2, Interesting occurrence! Did the glow span over land away from the highway, or was it concentrated overhead? The reason I ask is that we have something similar on the East Coast here, but it is due to a 5 acre greenhouse operation growing tomatoes and they recently started using advanced technology for heating and growlights at night. This shows up as a huge purple glow over that area at night time, particularly reflecting off the clouds. They only use it in the winter months. I'm not saying that your phenomena is the same. It certainly looks it could possibly be man made? :sun:
I did not take this picture - it was sent to me so I'm not sure where the concentration was the heaviest or what area is covered. Perhaps it is due to a greenhouse operation or something similar. I thought it was something noxious from cloud seeding but it could well be a another type of technology. Whatever, it looks to me like a poisonous pink and I too think it is probably man made and it looks like there are objects (maybe debris) in the cloud.
I recall, a few weeks before my 19th birthday, waking up to the coldest temperatures I'd ever experienced. This was in an old stone cottage in the Highlands of Scotland around 300m above sea level. The glass of water beside my bed was frozen, on coming downstairs I discovered the water butt (with tap) inside the house was also frozen solid, it held around 25 litres and was more then 3/4's full. There was literally no liquid in it - the container was swollen, lucky it didn't split!
(I later learnt the temperature had dropped to -19deg C that night!)
Opening the front door a wall of snow greeted me, to the extent there was only about a foot (300mm) of skyline visible. Now it turned out most of that was drift but once cleared I was still more than knee deep in the snow outside. I made my way to the outside washhouse where my Grandfather had a steel drum and two old whiskey barrels as water containers from collected rain. Each one had 3" - 4" of ice at the top (75mm - 100mm). I spent more than half an hour breaking through this ice to get water to boil the kettle, wash my face and clean my teeth.
I then made my way to work. About a mile and a half through knee deep snow that took me close to two hours. At one point I was waist deep in the stuff, had to use a fenceline wire to help pull myself out. Usually it was a 15-20 minute brisk walk. I was one of only 8 people to make it to work that day out of over 40. My reward? A glass of over 100 proof whiskey - it was a distillery! This skeleton staff managed to keep the plant running that day and a shipment was due out the next day, everyone was pretty sure it wouldn't happen but we had to continue as though it might. In the big old warehouses there were huge fire doors between sections. These were frozen solid, it took the best part of what was left of the morning and half the afternoon to get into the section where the barrels were stored. Guess what! All the casks were frozen to the rails and needed crowbars to move.
Once all the barrels were at the front of the warehouse ready to ship it was already dark. Days work done! I now had to walk back home - no torch, no lantern. I have no idea what time I got in that night but I lit a fire out of habit and just opened a can of beans and some corned beef for supper. More snow that night. I didn't even bother to try going to work the next day. I got the house nice and warm and read one of my Grandfather's westerns.
The only reason we have all these reports in our faces is thanks to modern instant communication. It was always like this, and worse! I personally think, (Who else would I be speaking for?), the whole global warming/climate change is fearmongering. Yes the weather is changing, it ALWAYS has been, but it is more likely to enter a long cold spell than life ceasing to exist because it got too warm.
((Caveat: None of the above accounts for whatever the lunatics are spraying in the atmosphere - but it would be just like humans to inadverdently cause their own demise through ignorance and their utter faith in science)).
PS: I have zero explanation for magenta clouds. :)
More weather events in Tropical FNQ…
Just before Christmas, Cairns and the surrounding areas were devastated by torrential rains as a result of Tropical Cyclone Jasper. Entire roads were washed out, effectively isolating key regions, including Atherton and the surrounding Tablelands region. We (my partner and I) were comparatively lucky, since we’ve been building food-growing garden beds, installing independent power systems and infrastructure for our farm. So when the power went out, we were OK. When there was no food on the supermarket shelves, we were OK. Living on the Atherton Tablelands, we escaped a lot of the flooding. We did not, however, survive unscathed.
Our property borders on the banks of a permanent creek that flows all year round, about 10 meters below our property boundary and along a steep cliff face. During the Cyclone Jasper event, the embankment gave way, causing two structurally important retaining walls to subside into the gully below and which is now threatening the structural integrity of our work sheds and house. It is fixable (although not until the end of the wet season in April / May), but thanks to an innocuous small clause in the insurance policy, it is looking highly unlikely we will have complete insurance. We continue to wait for the ruling.
Tonight, I returned home, landing in Cairns (from Sydney) before they closed the airport. My partner remains in Sydney to sort out some somber family affairs, so my drive home to the Tablelands was solo and under heavy rain. The heavy rain is a result of another tropical cyclone (Kirrily) that made landfall near Townsville this evening. As I write this, the rain is once again torrential and unrelenting, and I can hear the creek roaring again alongside the house. At the same time, the gully on the other side of the house is also roaring with water in the darkness (I haven’t yet installed floodlights in that section, so I can’t see what’s happening), because the dam has overflowed and a huge body of water is rushing over the spillway. I will not be able to survey the impact until morning.
It’s now 12:39am AEST and I am the only one on the property tonight. I dare not go near either gully on my own to conduct a survey, and I doubt I’ll get much sleep tonight. All I can do is cross my fingers and pray. The roar of water on either side is scary. As a relative newcomer to this region, this is the first time I’ve ever witnessed events of this magnitude, and I’m reliably informed by my more ‘seasoned’ neighbours that this amount of rainfall is unprecedented in the last sixty years.
I wouldn’t go so far as to declare that any of this is abnormal. But it IS scary, because this is the second tropical cyclone in as many months, and we’re told there may be others developing over the wet season, presumably due to the changeover from ‘La Nina’ to ‘El Nino’. If the embankment on either side washes out further, I could have a serious problem on my hands. My partner doesn’t get back until Sunday, and being here alone is an experience I would not care to repeat. And if the roads get washed out again, I’m isolated.
Nature is a phenomenally powerful entity. I’ve learned to respect that in the time I’ve lived up here. The learning curve is steep, and with some fear in my heart but with set-teeth, I do not look back at living in a city. Nope, I can comfortably say that I’m where I need to be, but I can also comfortably say that I’m OK with the challenges, even though I’m sometimes scared out of my wits.
Wow TIgger. I was thinking of you over the past few days after hearing about this new cyclone forming. I send prayers for your safety and wellbeing and that your farm and home will hold up to all the weather you are experiencing. I do hope you get some rest soon and everything calms down and the insurance will help you repair and improve any damage from the storm :heart:
We are just getting over a spell of single digit temps and freezing rain here in the Ozarks,which hasn't been fun, but the good thing about it is that people are waking up and realizing it's not global warming that we have to be ready for, but a mini Ice Age. :smow:
This California rain storm is a 100-125 hour or 4-5 day event. People have been evacuated from neighborhoods due to flooding and landslides. It was a lot worse back in the late 1970's where the streets and drainage system in LA were completely flooded.
RAINIEST SPOTS
Downtown Los Angeles wasn’t the only spot that received colossal amounts of rain. About 12 miles (19 kilometers) to the northwest, the hills of Bel Air got more than a foot — 12.01 inches (30.5 cm) — between Sunday and late Tuesday morning.
Several other locations in Los Angeles County received about a foot of rain during the same three-day span, including Sepulveda Canyon, Topanga Canyon, Cogswell Dam and Woodland Hills.
WIND
A gust of 102 mph (164 kph) was recorded Sunday at Pablo Point, at an elevation of 932 feet (284 meters), in Marin County, just north of San Francisco.
While just missing the December 1995 record of 103 mph (166 kph) at Angel Island, “102 is very, very impressive,” said meteorologist Nicole Sarment at the National Weather Service’s Bay Area office.
MUDSLIDES
By Tuesday night, crews had responded to 475 mudslides across Los Angeles, according to the mayor’s office. The mudslides closed roads across the city and prompted ongoing evacuation orders in canyon neighborhoods with burn scars from recent wildfires.
Emergency crews also responded to 390 fallen trees.
WATER
All the rain brought one silver lining: Helping to boost the state’s often-strapped water supply. At least 6 billion gallons (22.7 billion liters) of storm water in Los Angeles alone were captured for groundwater and local supplies, the mayor’s office said. Just two years ago, nearly all of California was plagued by a devastating drought that strained resources and forced water cutbacks.
8.34 pounds per gallon of water
I got 807,666,897,024,000 pounds of water on the state. Before the end of the seaon it'll probably hit a quadrillion pounds. TEXAS WILDFIRE 2ND LARGEST ON RECORD EVER RECORDED:
'Two football fields per second': Meteorologist breaks down impact of Texas wildfires
An out-of-control wildfire is tearing through the Texas Panhandle, threatening homes, farms and businesses and forcing residents to evacuate. Meanwhile, several other wildfires are burning nearby. The flames jumped into bordering Oklahoma communities Tuesday night, prompting evacuation orders there, too.
The Smokehouse Creek Fire has scorched more than 500,000 acres of land since igniting Monday afternoon, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service. It's now the second-largest fire in Texas state history.
The extent of the damage is still being assessed as the sun rises, but a Hemphill County official said "homes have burned in almost every direction."
Parts of Texas' Hemphill and Roberts counties were under evacuation orders or shelter-in-place advisories Tuesday as the fire encroached on populated areas. That included the Hemphill County city of Canadian, whose residents about 100 miles northeast of Amarillo were advised to shelter where they were.
TEXAS AGRICULTURE CHIEF:
Texas farmers and ranchers are facing the "destruction" of their livelihoods, as a result of wildfires that continue to rage through the panhandle this week into today, the state's agriculture commissioner has said.
"These fires not only threaten lives and property but also have a significant impact on our agriculture industry," Sid Miller said in a statement posted on Facebook last night.
"We stand in solidarity with our farmers and ranchers facing loss and destruction. Our thoughts are with them during this challenging time, and we’re committed to supporting their recovery efforts every step of the way," he added.
NEWSROOM: AS THE LARGEST WILDFIRE IN TEXAS HISTORY BURNS, TEXAS A&M FOREST SERVICE ENCOURAGES CAUTION AS WILDFIRE POTENTIAL INCREASES OVER THE WEEKEND
February 29, 2024
As the largest wildfire in Texas history burns, Texas A&M Forest Service encourages caution as wildfire potential increases over the weekend
COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The largest wildfire in Texas history is actively burning today. The Smokehouse Creek Fire in Hutchinson County is burning a total of 1,075,000 acres across Texas and Oklahoma and is 3% contained.
Since Sunday, February 25, Texas A&M Forest Service has responded to 56 wildfires burning more than 1,256,328 acres.
There are three additional active wildfires in the Texas panhandle today: the Grape Vine Creek Fire in Gray County at 30,000 acres and 60% contained; the Windy Deuce Fire in Moore County at 142,000 acres and 30% contained; and the Magenta Fire in Oldham County at 2,500 acres and 65% contained.
The potential for wildfire activity will increase again for the Plains region Saturday and Sunday due to strong winds and dry fuels.
“Strong winds and warm temperatures have resulted in grasses drying across many portions of Texas,” said Wes Moorehead, Texas A&M Forest Service Fire Chief. “As firefighters continue to suppress active fires, we urge Texans to be cautious with any outdoor activity that may cause a spark.”
Areas with dry grass may support wildfire activity due to accidental ignitions from activities that cause a spark, including fireworks.
As Texans make plans to celebrate Texas Independence Day March 2, they should use extreme caution when using fireworks or any other outdoor activity.
Approximately 90 percent of wildfires are caused by humans and their activities, and holidays and celebrations can pose an increased risk of fire starts.
“Let’s celebrate Texas Independence Day with pride and responsibility,” said Karen Stafford, Texas A&M Forest Service Fire Prevention Coordinator. “This weekend, let’s honor our heritage by preventing fires. Do your part to prevent wildfires and be safe this holiday.”
The safest way to enjoy fireworks is to attend a public show hosted by professionals. If you plan to set off your own fireworks, please follow these safety tips:
• Before you celebrate, always check and comply with local government officials for any burn bans or other restrictions.
• Read and follow all warnings and instruction labels on fireworks.
• Use fireworks only under close adult supervision and in safe areas away from structures, dry grass and brush.
• Keep a hose, bucket of water and wet towels nearby in case of a malfunction or fire.
• Dispose of used fireworks in a bucket of water.
• Never ignite fireworks in a container, especially glass or metal.
To help prevent wildfires during windy and dry conditions:
• Avoid parking and idling in tall, dry grass. Catalytic converters can get hot enough to ignite the grass under a vehicle.
• Ensure chains and other metal parts aren’t dragging from your vehicle — they throw sparks.
• Avoid placing your grill near flammable vegetation or materials, never leave your grill unattended and ensure coals are completely extinguished when you are done.
Note: Burn bans and fireworks restrictions are determined by county government. Texas A&M Forest Service does not determine, set or lift these restrictions.
Weather engineering has been going on for years, but there has been little reported about their "results".
It must be that people only think of them as "rain makers". Even if that is true, why are they not making it rain where rain is needed.
I don't recall who quoted "who controls the weather will control the world" but they seemed to be correct.
I imagine that the security and control surrounding weather modification is almost as high as in the UFO world.
Dramatic videos captured the moment streets in the Bolivian capital city of La Paz were overcome with waves of water that surged over the wall of a reservoir.
The shocking footage showed cars circling an avenue in the La Florida neighborhood on Wednesday afternoon as the city was pounded by a rain storm when the water suddenly crept over the reservoir.
A worker who was walking toward the pedestrian bridge could be seen running away from the water surge, nearly crushing at least three vehicles and knocking the man to the ground.
Local outlets reported that the individual suffered minor injuries.
70 Peruvian Districts in Emergency Due to Intense Rains
On Wednesday, Peruvian President Dina Boluarte declared a "State of Emergency" in 70 districts across 16 departments to address the impact of the intense rainfall.
The measure will be in effect for 60 days and includes districts from the departments of Amazonas, Ancash, Apurimac, Arequipa, Ayacucho, Cajamarca, Cuzco, Huancavelica, Huánuco, Ica, Junin, Lima, Madre de Dios, Puno, Tacna, and Ucayali.
Reports from the National Emergency Operations Center (COEN) indicate that rainfall in these districts has caused river overflow, landslides, collapses, hailstorms, and avalanches.
These phenomena have caused damage to the life and health of the population, as well as to their homes, communication routes, irrigation infrastructure, drinking water network, public health, and education infrastructure.
"The magnitude of the reported damage requires the adoption of urgent measures" for "the implementation of immediate and necessary exceptional measures and actions, response, and rehabilitation as appropriate," indicated the National Institute of Civil Defense (INDECI).
Regional and local governments will implement the corresponding measures and actions with the INDECI technical coordination and the participation of various ministries.
The decree specified that planned actions will be financed from the institutional budget of the involved entities, without requiring additional resources from the public treasury.
The resolution was signed by the ministers of development and social inclusion, economy, education, energy and mines, interior, women and vulnerable populations, health, transportation and communications, and housing and sanitation.
Cold wave in Afghanistan kills over quarter-million heads of livestock
A cold wave in Afghanistan has killed a “devasting” number of over 280,000 heads of livestock since Feb. 25, a UN agency said on Thursday.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) said it examined satellite-derived climate data over the period to understand the impact of the cold weather in the war-torn nation.
The interim Taliban administration last month reported the deaths of 60 people due to freezing temperatures in more than three weeks until mid-March.
According to Janan Saiq, spokesman of the Natural Disaster Management Ministry, the victims lost their lives from cold weather due to heavy snowfall and rain.
As many as 34 others were also injured, while over 1,600 houses were destroyed during the same period, he said.
With a longer cold wave period this winter, the FAO said the country recorded the lowest temperature of minus 21C (minus 5.8F) on Feb. 25, with the northeastern Badakhshan province coldest place.
“The cold wave moved from one place to another … therefore, the number of impacted villages and the extent of the cold wave increased” in the Badakhshan, Bamyan, Daykundi, Ghor, Nuristan, Panjshir, Parwan and Samangan provinces, said the FAO.
Afghanistan has witnessed several floods, earthquakes, and droughts over the past few years, worsening the already poor state of the country’s infrastructure.
The FAO suggested targeted assistance to affected provinces as well as livestock protection measures amid the devastating impact of cold weather.
First Major Wildfire of the Season Rages on Crete, Greece
A major wildfire – the first of the summer season in Greece, rages on Saturday near Ierapetra, southern Crete.
Authorities have ordered the evacuation of several villages threatened by the flames aided by strong winds. Dozens of firefighters and fire-dousing helicopters are trying to control the spread of the wildfire.
Wildfires break earlier than expected as Greece records warm winter
Wildfires are already breaking out in Greece amid temperatures that reached 30 degrees Celsius in early April despite the fire season not being expected for another few weeks at least.
A 12th-century monastery near Athens played host to a firefighting drill on April 4th, wherein a wildfire simulation was created that trapped clergy and a group of people attending a baptism.
Volunteers and firefighters rapidly pulled the “victims” to safety through clouds of red smoke, as a drone whirring above sent live video of the rescue to a national coordination center.
“Due to climate, conditions have changed. Everything in nature is dry now and it’s very easy to catch fire. So we have to be ready to deal with it,” said Loukia Kefalogianni, the deputy regional government of the capital’s North Attica region.
Greece has experienced the warmest winter on record this year according to preliminary data from the Copernicus Climate Change Service (C3S) analyzed by the scientific team of meteo.gr.
Specifically, the 2023-2024 winter, lasting from December 2023 to February 2024, in Greece was marked by extended periods of high temperatures, significantly surpassing seasonal norms.
Meteo reports that the winter of 2023-2024 was recorded as the warmest in Greek history, surpassing the winter of 2015-2016. The average maximum temperature in Greece during the winter period has risen by 1.8°C from 1960 to 2024.
Greece orders 7 firefighting aircraft from Canada
To better deal with the heightened risk of wildfires, Greece is fast-tracking a 2.1 billion euros ($2.3 billion) scheme to upgrade its fleet of water tankers and produce an artificial intelligence-driven sensor network to detect smoke in the early stages of a fire.
However, delivery of the new equipment won’t begin until next year, which leaves planners in a position of having to find alternatives to drive down response times.
Greece was once again at the center of Europe’s fire season during the summer last year. The nation experienced the most devastating wildfire in European Union records.
Fires destroyed an estimated 1,750 square kilometers (675 square miles) last year. Deliveries to the country of seven new Canadian-made DHC-515 firefighting aircraft, part of a wider European Union order by six member states, are set to begin in 2027.
President Tokayev Lays Out Instructions to Address Aftermath of Massive Floods
By Assem Assaniyaz in Nation on 1 April 2024
ASTANA – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev convened a meeting of national headquarters on April 1 to discuss measures to address the aftermath of massive floods that affected at least seven regions of the country, reported the Akorda press service. Tokayev guaranteed financial assistance for all flood victims.
The national headquarters, led by Kazakh Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, was established on behalf of the President during an urgent meeting on March 30 due to the emergency situation caused by flooding in the country’s regions.
According to the latest update from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, 13,659 citizens have been evacuated from the emergency zones, including 5,250 children.
Affairs.
“Since the beginning of the flood season, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and local government bodies have pumped out over 4.6 million cubic meters of meltwater, laid more than 370,000 sandbags, and used 728,000 tons of inert material,” reads the ministry’s April 1 statement.
The government is carrying out restoration work on 40 washed-out sections of roads, bridges, and road surfaces. State bodies are maintaining communication with settlements left without transportation links, and local administrations are supplying reserves of food and medication.
Support measures for flood victims
According to Tokayev, as a result of negligence and a lack of professionalism of government structures, Kazakh citizens have suffered significant material losses, facing domestic inconveniences that have adversely affected their health and well-being. President Tokayev extended his apologies and expressed regret over the significant losses of personal property suffered by people in the affected regions.
The state will take measures to compensate for these losses. To our citizens, I want to say: do not worry; the state and entrepreneurs will compensate for all losses. But the financial and political losses are more than significant, and we must take them into account. Hence, there is a substantial amount of work ahead for the government. Expectations will be demanding,” said Tokayev.
He gave an instruction to provide all necessary assistance to the affected citizens. This requires mobilizing both government and local administration reserves, as well as resources from the Qazaqstan Halqyna Fund, a charitable foundation aimed at providing relief to the country’s most vulnerable groups of the population.
President Tokayev called upon all representatives of the business community to help the people, saying it is a “collective task for all of us.”
“In the western regions hit hard by severe floods, there are many large enterprises, including those affiliated with the Samruk Kazyna Sovereign Wealth Fund and companies involved in resource extraction. I am confident that they will provide necessary assistance to the people and actively participate in the restoration of damaged infrastructure,” he noted.
As of April 1, 8,458 people, 2,124 vehicles, 808 water pumping devices, and 65 watercraft are involved in the emergency rescue operations along with 14 aircraft from the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Defense, local executive bodies, and organizations.
The government’s actions to address the crisis and mitigate flood risks
President Tokayev instructed the government to prevent price hikes on essential services and food products in the affected regions and develop a coordination plan to implement measures to preserve floodwater for agricultural purposes. He also said that local authorities need to carry out activities to divert meltwater from populated areas into riverbeds or reservoirs.
The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has mobilized over 1,000 personnel and more than 280 units of equipment in flood-affected areas. The ministry has also established round-the-clock patrols at water management facilities.
“The situation with floods and wildfires repeats year after year. The forecast and analytical work of responsible agencies and specialized services, such as Kazvodkhoz and Kazhydromet, is poorly organized. Response measures are primarily taken reactively or with minimal forecasting. Therefore, it is imperative for us to have an effective mechanism for predicting crisis situations,” he said.
By the end of 2024, Tokayev tasked the profile ministries to develop an information system that will allow for the modeling of possible emergency situations and generate corresponding forecasts, recommendations, and action plans.
“The government and local executive bodies, particularly the governors of the regions, need to prepare for the summer period. Fires and other natural disasters are quite possible,” he said.
President Tokayev criticized the state concept for the development of the water resources management system until 2030 and instructed its provisions to be revised. In his opinion, the action plan is merely declarative and fails to address the issues of flood prevention and damage reduction comprehensively.
“Competent institutions are not working together, evading responsibility and shifting the workload onto each other. If the situation doesn’t change, responsible officials should be removed from their positions. The primary criterion is the effectiveness of public servants. There is a lack of clear and stable communication between government agencies and local administrations. The respective ministry should oversee the country’s readiness for natural disasters. This is its main task,” he said.
The crisis emphasized Kazakhstan’s shortage of technical specialists in water resources and irrigation. Tokayev urged a thorough examination of international practices concerning flood management.
“The floods this year have surpassed the scale of the floods in 2012 and 2017, which were considered the largest in the past 30 years. What does this signify? It indicates a complete absence of predictive work attributed to a shortage of specialists in the relevant field. The consequences and extent of the disaster, even considering the weather conditions, could have been minimized if local authorities had consistently executed all planned flood prevention measures annually,” said Tokayev.
While it is important to involve volunteers and people in the effort, the key responsibility for addressing the aftermath of the floods lies on state bodies, said Tokayev.
“The situation could deteriorate at any moment. Right now, the primary task is to prevent human casualties. It is important to learn from past mistakes and shortcomings,” he added.
UAE weather: Dubai diverts inbound flights due to ‘exceptional’ rainfall
Heavy thunderstorms and rain showers in the UAE have caused flight cancelations and delays across the country, airlines reported on Tuesday, with Dubai International Airport diverting inbound flights as storms intensified.
Torrential rain and thunderstorms have battered parts of the country, flooding houses, submerging roads, and causing weather warnings across the Emirates.
The adverse weather has also caused flight cancellations and delays across the UAE.
In a statement provided to Al Arabiya English, a Dubai Airports spokesperson said: “Dubai Airports can confirm that due to the continued exceptional weather event currently being experienced in the UAE, Dubai International (DXB) is temporarily diverting inbound flights due to arrive this evening on Tuesday, 16 April until the inclement situation im-proves. Departures will continue to operate.”
“The airport is working hard with its response teams and service partners to restore normal operations and minimize inconvenience to our customers. We urge guests to check directly with the airline to obtain the latest information on the status of their flight, allow significant extra travel time to the airport and use the Dubai metro where possible.”
Earlier in the day it said that due to the “intense storm,” operations were temporarily suspended Tuesday afternoon. At the time, it said a total of 21 outbound and 24 inbound flights had been cancelled, and three flights were diverted to other neighbouring airports.
“There is major flooding on access roads around Dubai leading to the airport and current weather forecasts indicate that the unsettled weather will continue to cause delays and disruption into the early hours of Wednesday (17th April) morning.”
“Response teams have been activated and we are working closely with airlines and other service partners to restore normal operations at the earliest and minimise inconvenience to our customers. We are actively collaborating with our service partners and airlines to minimise any inconvenience experienced by our valued guests.”
In a statement, Dubai’s budget airline flydubai also reported weather-related delays, saying: “The adverse weather conditions in the UAE on 16 April impacted our flight schedule at Dubai International (DXB).”
“We have canceled some flights as a result and are currently experiencing some delays. We are working hard to minimize any disruption to our passengers’ travel schedules and are coordinating with all parties at the airport,” the airline said early Tuesday.
“We will continue to monitor the weather conditions closely and we advise our passengers to allow extra time for their journey to the airport and to check the status of their flight on flydubai.com.”
Residents across the country woke to black skies and heavy downpours, with the wet spell expected to last until Wednesday morning.
A ‘second wave’ of wet weather was reported across the UAE on Tuesday evening, the UAE’s NCM has reported.
"📎 Large-scale Floods in the Russian Federation
The spring floods of 2024 in Russia turned into a real disaster. The consequences of the flood were felt in 39 regions of the country, but the situation was particularly dire in the Orenburg region. The breach of a dam, built to protect the city of Orsk from the overflow of the Ural River, led to the emergency evacuation of local residents. The floods resulted in a decrease in the quality of tap water and a shortage of drinking water.
📎 Sudden Flooding in Oman
From April 14, heavy rains with thunderstorms led to widespread flooding in many provinces of the Sultanate of Oman. Floods affected the provinces of Muscat, North Al Batinah, South Al Batinah, South Al Sharqiyah, North Al Sharqiyah, Al Dakhira, and Al Dhahirah. The floods caused significant material damage and led to disruptions in power supply and communication networks.
📎 Deadly Floods in Pakistan
On April 16, Pakistani authorities reported that at least 50 people had died in the country over the past few days due to intense unseasonal rains, lightning, and floods. Dozens more were injured. The most affected provinces were Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the northwest, Punjab in the east, and Balochistan in the southwest. Settlements and agricultural lands were submerged. Power and transport networks were disrupted, and schools were closed.
📎 Record Rains in the United Arab Emirates
On April 16, the United Arab Emirates experienced the heaviest rains in 75 years. The government issued a red alert, schools, banks, and offices were closed across the country. In the Al Ain area, a record amount of rainfall was recorded in 75 years: 10 inches of rain fell here within 24 hours, compared to the annual rainfall norm of 1.9 inches.
📎 Powerful Eruption of Mount Ruang in Indonesia
On April 16, the eruption of Mount Ruang began in the North Sulawesi province, Indonesia. According to the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation, there were more than 1000 earthquakes in the two days preceding the eruption. On Tuesday, the volcano spewed lava, and a column of smoke rose more than a mile into the sky. The eruption was accompanied by explosions and volcanic lightning.
📎 Weather Apocalypse in China
For the first time in China's history, there have been such a large number of weather anomalies simultaneously.
On April 16, the city of Fuzhou in Jiangxi province was hit by a convective storm with thunder, heavy rainfall, and gusty winds. On the same day, a tornado swept through Huaiyuan County, Shouzhou District, Shanxi Province. In the evening of April 16, due to severe convective weather, hail fell in Huangjian County, Guangxi Province, accompanied by thunderstorms and heavy rains.
❗ Currently, there are climatic events occurring cyclically every 12,000 years that could lead to a global catastrophe. To prevent a negative scenario, it is important for people to be aware of what is happening and to act together. Scientists and volunteers already understand the true causes of natural anomalies, what their consequences will be, and how we can prevent them. This information is available on the "Global Crisis. Deadly floods wreak havoc in Kenya’s capital
East Africa has been lashed by relentless downpours in recent weeks, as El Nino exacerbates the seasonal rainfall.
Storms and flash floods turned roads into gushing rivers and swamped homes with waist-high muddy water across the Kenyan capital, Nairobi, killing at least 10 people.
The East Africa region has been lashed by relentless downpours in recent weeks, as the El Nino weather pattern exacerbates the seasonal rainfall.
Across Nairobi, vehicles were stranded in the deluge and people waded through floodwaters in slum areas to reach safety.
According to the Nairobi county governor’s office, an estimated 60,000 people, mostly women and children, have been “severely affected” by the floods.
The Kenya Meteorological Department warned that “heavy to very heavy” rainfall was forecast in various parts of the country until May.
In one incident on Wednesday, police fired tear gas to disperse angry residents who had blocked a main highway with long queues of cars calling for government action over the floods.
Kenya Railways announced it was temporarily suspending commuter train services, while the roads authority said four roads in the capital had been partly closed.
Homes were engulfed in the sprawling Nairobi slum of Mathare, where residents took to rooftops to save their lives and belongings.
The Red Cross said the Athi River, the second longest in Kenya that runs south of Nairobi to the Indian Ocean, had burst its banks, blocking roads and leaving residents stranded.
In central Nairobi, where many government offices and the parliament are based, a main avenue was blocked by fallen trees.
Bangladesh reels under longest heat wave in 76 years
DHAKA, Bangladesh
Bangladesh experienced its longest heat wave in recorded history this April with forecasts showing no improvement for the rest of the month, according to meteorologists.
Md. Bazlur Rashid, a meteorologist at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, told Anadolu that heat waves swept across the entire country for 27 days straight until Saturday.
“According to the data available since 1948, this month (April) has already seen records of heat wave days in a single year,” he added.
This year, for the first time, nearly 75% of the country has experienced continuous heat waves.
The closest example of such extreme heat was recorded in 2014 when the country saw 25 days of heat wave, Rashid added.
The Met Office weather forecast said Saturday that a very severe heat wave was sweeping over mid-west, west, and central Bangladesh, while the rest of the country was seeing severe to mild heat waves.
“Climate change is among the major causes of the extreme weather,” said Rashid, adding that the Bangladeshi capital Dhaka has become a tough place to live in during summer, due to declining greenery and water bodies.
Meanwhile, a season-high temperature of 42.7C (108.9F) was recorded in Chuadanga on Friday.
A recent study by the Met Office showed that both the minimum and maximum temperatures in the country are increasing, with the maximum temperature increasing rapidly.
The extreme weather conditions have disrupted people’s lives and livelihoods, especially for low-income groups, in the South Asian nation of 170 million.
In the second week of April, the country was forced to shut schools and educational institutions for a week due to the scorching heat wave.
Tornado in southern China leaves 5 dead, 33 injured
Five people died and 33 others were injured Saturday as a strong tornado hit China’s southern province of Guangdong, local media reported.
A total of 141 factories were damaged in the Baiyun, according to state-run Xinhua News Agency.
Numerous firefighting and search and rescue teams were dispatched to the area for relief efforts.
The initial investigation conducted by the provincial meteorological bureau found that the tornado had a level-three intensity, two levels down from the highest level-five intensity, and it traveled a distance of about 1 kilometer (0.6 miles).
I wrote this here (https://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?108762-Turmoil-in-Ecuador&p=1610239&viewfull=1#post1610239) on 20 April, a couple weeks ago, on the Turmoil in Ecuador (https://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?108762-Turmoil-in-Ecuador) thread. There wasn't really any 'turmoil', just scheduled intermittent power cuts due to little rainfall in the rainy season. (The hydro-electric reservoirs were very low.)
~~~
The problem is El Niño transitioning to La Niña (the climatological intricacies of which I don't pretend to fully understand, as it's all very complicated and hard to model), and this is affecting ALL of South America at the moment with lack of rainfall.

The dry weather is great for mountain hiking, but this is meant to be the rainy season (January—June) and it's mostly been like summer (July—December).

So if it's not going to rain much when it's supposed to be raining, this really is an 'emergency'. Come July, things may get drier still, but no-one really knows for sure. And low reservoir levels mean the hydro-electric power stations can't work at full capacity. That's the problem.

So there are daily power cuts now, which started a week ago, but all at announced times — easy to plan for, and most of daily life is unaffected. (Gas stations, banks, healthcare services etc are all unaffected too, and many stores, including all the largest ones, have their own generators. And the myriads of small roadside market stalls selling fresh fruit and veg don't need electricity anyway.)
~~~
Then on Saturday, 3 days ago, Cuenca had the heaviest rain in 70 (seventy) years.
This really is climate change. (NOT global warming! But climate change, for sure.)
Some roads were blocked for a while by big landslides (I took this 40-second video this morning), but no-one was hurt, the farmers are happy — and the reservoirs are all full again, so there are no more power cuts. :)
Giant hail stones destroyed homes, property, crops, birds & livestock in India. Some of the roofs look like Swiss cheese.
watchers (https://watchers.news/2024/05/07/giant-hailstones-destroy-over-15-000-homes-in-manipur-india/)
The districts of Imphal West and Imphal East were the hardest hit, with 6 053 and 5 600 homes damaged, respectively. Additional damages were reported in Bishnupur, Thoubal, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Ukhrul, and other areas, totaling the destruction of over 15 000 homes.
The hailstorm also left many vehicles with cracked windows or severe damage due to the size of the hailstones and the strength of the winds.
In addition, at least six churches in the hilly districts suffered significant damage, including roofs being torn off by strong winds.
The second video is from the 2004 movie The Day After Tomorrow (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Day_After_Tomorrow) displaying an abnormal number of tornados in Los Angeles. Thousands evacuate as wildfire grows ‘dramatically’ in western Canada
Authorities say wind will push the Parker Lake Wildfire closer to the small community of Fort Nelson, British Columbia.
Thousands of people in Canada’s westernmost province of British Columbia (BC) have been evacuated from their homes as authorities warn that a enormous wildfire continues to grow.
In a video shared online late on Sunday, Cliff Chapman of the BC Wildfire Service said the Parker Lake Wildfire has exhibited “fast growth and high fire behaviour” since it began on Friday, west of the town of Fort Nelson.
A small community of about 3,000 residents, Fort Nelson is located 1,600km (995 miles) north of Vancouver in northeastern BC.
“Over the weekend, wildfire activity in the northeast of the province increased dramatically,” Chapman said in the video.
As of early Monday morning, the blaze had reached 5,280 hectares (13,500 acres) and was just 2.5km (1.5 miles) west of Fort Nelson, according to authorities.
It comes as Canada saw its most intense fire season on record in 2023, as hundreds of wildfires burned in provinces and territories across the country.
The massive blazes forced thousands from their homes, destroyed entire communities, and sent enormous plumes of smoke into the United States as well as Europe.
Experts say the climate crisis was largely responsible for the record wildfires as higher temperatures have extended the Canadian wildfire season and increased lightning, which is generally the cause of about half of all the blazes in the country.
A warmer atmosphere also dries out fire fuels, such as the vegetation on forest floors. These drier fuels then make it easier for fires to start and spread, and they lead to higher intensity fires that are more difficult to put out.
Back in northeastern BC, thousands of residents of Fort Nelson and nearby Fort Nelson First Nation have been ordered to evacuate.
Rob Fraser, mayor of the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality, said about 3,500 residents had left the area. But some have stayed, local media reported.
“We cannot stress the urgency of this situation enough,” Fort Nelson First Nation Chief Sharleen Gale said in a statement on Sunday, urging anyone remaining in their homes to leave.
“Your lives are of paramount importance, and it is imperative that you leave the community immediately for your own safety. Please take this warning seriously and evacuate without delay.”
That was echoed by Chapman at the BC Wildfire Service, who warned on Monday morning that sustained winds of at least 25km/h (15 miles/hour) were expected later in the day and could make the wildfire worse.
“Those winds are going to be here for the next 48 hours,” Chapman told reporters.
Campi Flegrei: Volcanic crater near Naples hit with strongest earthquake in decades
Story by Josh Salisbury
(Ben Davidson of SuspiciousObservers remarked recently about what a threat to the planet the super volcano Campi Flegrei could be, while much attention is being paid to Yellowstone which he says is no longer a threat.
I imagine he will have more to say about the recent earthquakes in Italy in the Campi Flegrei area.
A 4.4 magnitude quake isn't all that destructive, but if you are living near Mt. Vesuvius & Campi Flegrie, it could certainly be concerning... )
"The strongest earthquake to hit Italy’s Campi Flegrei supervolcano region in decades struck on Monday evening.
The 4.4 magnitude earthquake caused mild damage in the nearby town of Pozzuoli and as far away as the city of Naples, Italian authorities said.
The quake, which occurred at a depth of three kilometres, was part of an ongoing “seismic storm” which has seen more than a dozen events over 2.0 magnitude in recent days.
The 4.4 tremblor at 8.10pm local time came just an hour after a 3.5 earthquake an hour earlier, the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) said.
The agency recorded more than 1,000 earthquakes in the area in April 2024, but most had a magnitude of less than 1.0, meaning they were extremely mild.
The constellation of ancient volcanic craters sits across the bay of Naples from Pompeii, where thousands were incinerated by Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.
However, it is a much bigger volcano than Vesuvius and if it ever exploded at full force could kill hundreds of thousands. Some half a million people live in the immediate region around Campi Flegrei.
The last major eruption of the supervolcano was in 1538.
The Campi Flegrei caldera has a diameter of about 12-15 km (7.5-9.3 miles) and last erupted in 1538.
One of its biggest eruptions took place some 39,000 years ago and might have led to the extinction of Neanderthal man, researchers believe.
(Video at the link--Related video: Residents spend night in tents as earthquake hits Naples (Daily Mail)
The INGV has noted an increase of seismic activity since 2022, with Giuseppe De Natale, the former head of the Vesuvius observatory at INGV previously warning of the need for evacuation plans.
The Italian Civil Protection agency said it has been working to update evacuation plans in the event of a major disaster."
Yuma, Colorado experienced a major hailstorm that encased vehicles, destroyed the exterior of homes and turned fences into Swiss cheese. In the second video they look like bullets.
Severe storms on Monday night pelted northeast Colorado with damaging hail that shattered windows and covered the ground like snow in the plains community of Yuma.
Volunteer firefighter JJ Unger told FOX31 there was hail damage across the area after the severe storm. And with the town already under a flash flood warning — and facing the threat of tornadoes — it had begun to flood with the hail backing up drainage flows.
“There’s going to be a lot of cleaning up to do in this town,” Unger said.
Soooo - Been there, done that, and that lightening was exactly what I saw at 4AM Sunday morning. Woke me up with the intense strobing going on through my window, and when I looked out, I truly thought this may be the armageddon. But turned out to be a tornado, with high wind, hail, and the works. Luckily, our place had little damage, although there was much damage nearby, mostly caused by trees and limbs crashing and being tossed about. Power poles snapped and lines down everywhere.
It was a good test being without power along with everyone else. Certainly saw places where our preparedness lacked, and by the time power came back here not long ago, things were becoming more and more trying, and people becoming more and more testy. The heat and humidity were not pleasant, nor was the scrambling to preserve freezers and fridges. We were told we might be out until Wednesday, but guess we were lucky. Many others are still without power.
But that lightening... think that was what made the most lasting impression on me, even more so than the roaring sounds and the big hail and the wind. It was crazy insane!
Power has been out in parts of the South and Heartland US for 2 days now including Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, Missouri, Kentucky, Iowa, much damage from tornadoes, hail, wind, rain and flooding, and more coming.
Power just came on again where I am after being off for about 18 hours.
I haven't gone through my fridge or freezer yet, but I imagine some will have to be thrown out, as temps are high.
But that is the least of worries for many whose homes and even towns and lives in the flatlands were destroyed.
It's very hilly where I live, so we are spared tornadoes, but wind, hail and rain can still take their toll.
Oddly, when the first lightning and thunder erupted last night, the power went out immediately, almost as if on a signal.
There's been some enormous flooding in both Northern Italy and Switzerland, ongoing ever since a couple of weeks ago. I saw a number of videos in French, but this one from the UK's Sun isn't exaggerated or over-dramatized.
Anybody not in Hurricane Beryl’s path, if you need a wild-weather fix, here is a livestream. Started abt half an hour ago, and he just said landfall is expected in abt an hour from now (which works out to ~0300 Eastern Time, =~0700 Zulu/UTC, and ~0200 in Texas’ eastern side which is Central Time).
OP is driving, as is normal, not sure what his plan is. Some pretty horizontal rain, so far. I found his chan ~a month ago, he uploads a lot but I’ve not clicked many of his vids.
There's been almost no measurable rain in this part of Ecuador in 68 (sixty-eight) days.
The power grid, which is dependent on hydro, is holding up. But the farmers are suffering. There's no end in sight, though the rainy season should begin in January. (On the equator here we have two seasons, not four.)
The problem is El Niño transitioning to La Niña, a geophysical phenomenon in the Pacific that's currently affecting climate worldwide.
These are not wheat fields. This is all pasture for cows, and the grass is meant to be green. :flower:
This shallow lake in the mountains, quite a large one, is now completely dry.
https://avalonlibrary.net/Bill/dry_lake_1_sm.jpg
And here's a smaller one, which had no chance of survival. Mara, my dog, always used to swim here.
https://avalonlibrary.net/Bill/dry_lake_3_sm.jpg
A dried up river, though the large lake that feeds it is still there. But the level has dropped till it's way below the outflow of the river.
https://avalonlibrary.net/Bill/dry_river_bed_sm.jpg
Taken back in January, this is a rather dramatic video of a waterfall which a regular feature of our mountain hikes. That day it was far too dangerous to try to cross.
https://avalonlibrary.net/Bill/Waterfall_in_Flood_1_Jan_2024.mp4
https://avalonlibrary.net/Bill/Waterfall_in_Flood_1_Jan_2024.mp4
It's now reduced to a tiny trickle (with just enough water in the pool for Mara to cool down!). It's not dried up totally yet, though it may do soon.
https://avalonlibrary.net/Bill/dry_waterfall_sm.jpg
But I should close with a happy picture. :)
One or two members have written to ask if Mara was still fine, as I'd not shared any photos recently. Yes, she's in great shape, always happy to be in the mountains though she's 100% blind and can't see a thing. This is where we were just a few days ago... and the large lake behind her will never dry up.
Mara is looking so good and right at home swimming in the clear water. :dog::heart: I am glad there is water in the lake available for the wildlife to drink from, but I do hope gentle rains come soon for for the plants and farmers and to keep the hydro power on for everyone.
I am very sorry to see that :flower:. There is no balance anywhere..
Here in Europe, a completely different picture - until two weeks ago it was also dry and there was no rain for months. The air was 40°C, and the sea temperature was 30°C - It was like a soup!
Then a change came and it was drastic - the temperature dropped by 30°C (currently it has been 10 degrees for days), rain falls non-stop, floods in Poland, Austria the Czech Republic... several people lost their lives. In addition to people, swallows also suffered - they did not have time to migrate to the south, because this kind of weather is not at all normal for September, summer is still going on and the swallows should have been here by mid-October.
"This hurricane season is shaping up to be one of the most intense of recent years with many powerful storms that displayed rapid formation, fast intensification, and incredible amounts of damage due to heavy rain and floods. Here's a summary of the most significant storms on September:
Hurricane Francine rapidly intensified into a Category 2 hurricane with sustained winds of 100 mph (155 km/h), making landfall in southern Louisiana, torrential rains and severe flooding caused widespread damage, submerging homes and infrastructure, and resulting in $1.5 billion in damages. Fortunately, there were no fatalities.
Storm Boris reached wind speeds of 75 mph (120 km/h) and rainfall of up to 14 inches (360 mm) in some areas of Central and Eastern Europe, causing the Elbe and Danube rivers to overflow, submerging entire communities, collapsing bridges, damaging homes, and sweeping away cars. The floods caused at least 19 deaths and significant economic losses, making it one of the worst flooding events in the region in decades.
Hurricane John made landfall in southwestern Mexico as a powerful Category 3 hurricane, with sustained winds of 120 mph (195 km/h). Up to 20 inches of rain caused severe flooding and widespread devastation, submerging homes and infrastructure. The storm resulted in at least 22 deaths and affected approximately 730,000 families. The impact on infrastructure and tourism was significant, making it one of the most destructive hurricanes to hit the region in recent years, along with Hurricane Ottis, which hit the same area last year.
Typhoon Yagi became the most powerful and destructive storm to hit East and Southeast Asia in recent years. The storm reached winds of 260 km/h (160 mph), and torrential rain, floods, and high winds caused widespread devastation, resulting in more than 830 deaths, 2,270 injuries, and 131 missing. The impact of the storm was particularly severe in Vietnam and Myanmar, where it caused significant and widespread damage to infrastructure and farmland, including roads, telecommunications, and power networks.
Hurricane Helene made landfall near Horseshoe Beach, Florida with sustained winds of 120 mph (195 km/h), and bringing catastrophic torrential rainfall to the southeastern United States. The storm surge caused extensive coastal flooding, while the heavy rains triggered historic inland flooding, particularly in the southern Appalachians. At least 230 fatalities across Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia.
The devastation in North Carolina is unprecedented, with estimates of more than 1,000 deaths and hundreds of people still missing. The Rocky Broad River overflowed, causing significant debris and damage to towns such as Chimney Rock and Lake Lure. The state's infrastructure suffered immense damage, with hundreds of roads rendered inaccessible. The flooding was so severe that in some areas, water levels were reported to have reached the roofs of homes.
The economic losses were substantial, with billions of dollars in damages and long-term recovery efforts required. Many residents were left without power, clean water, or communication. Emergency services are still struggling to reach the affected areas, while the police and military are not allowing or limiting help from neighboring states and local counties.
And FEMA? Well, they're out of money to help the continuous waves of illegal aliens, while the Biden-Kamala administration offered the dashing amount of $750 per person in the most affected areas... and nice thoughts and prayers, as they need all the money they can get to fund their criminal partners in Ukraine and Israel.
How bad does it have to get for people to fully realize that the psychopaths in the US government, and well, most Western governments for that matter, don't give a damn about our collective well-being, and even our lives? There are plenty of obvious examples right now.
If most of us realized this and did something about it, things would change pretty quickly, but at least right now it seems that most of us still need a stronger shock to wake up and smell the coffee.
While the pathocracy creates more chaos out there, and most people are unable to respond fittingly to it, nature responds... and things are not looking pretty. But, well, lights are also starting to shine here and there, in NC we see people doing everything they can to help each other in hard times, no matter what their corrupt government says. Hopefully this will become a trend."
I was in Hun Hin earlier today and went to the beach for a walk and what I saw was a super high tide and lots and lots of dead fish among many other crustaceous, I am not sure why it happened but the water was dark, nobody was swimming and there was a warning in red written in Thai, probably something to not get in the water.
I just made a quick search but could not find much about it, however I found this article from 2017 which is exactly the same thing I saw today.
Some sections of the beach could not walk, was too bad, most small fishes, sea plants and lots of garbage, it started to smell bad, first sunny day it will rot away, beach isn't good for anything and lots of people on holiday was there in their swimsuits but nobody in the water.
basically walking in detritus.
A relatively minor update from Ecuador. ('Minor' because this is really nothing compared to the devastation in other parts of the world from hurricanes and extreme flooding. :flower:)
Like much of South America, Ecuador is in the grip of the longest drought in living memory, currently 129 days and counting. There have been one or two brief showers, but nothing that counters the continuously falling water levels in lakes, rivers and reservoirs.
I see the effect in the mountains when hiking with my dog Mara. Many of the small streams and tiny lakes, regular and welcome rest stops where Mara used to drink and swim when the weather was hot, are now bone-dust dry. The larger lakes are all still there and could never disappear, but the levels have fallen markedly.
It's hard on the all thirsty wildlife and plants, and for the farmers, whose cow pastures are all golden brown, looking like golden wheat fields rather than fresh green grass.
It's a big challenge for the power grid, which is heavily reliant on hydro. So there are daily power outages, all to a published schedule but sometimes up to 14 hours a day. That's an issue for many of the small businesses that don't have their own generators to power lights, refrigerators and cash machines, though simple roadside market stalls selling fruit and veg are all unaffected.
As I've remarked elsewhere, that challenges the internet system as well, an intermittent hassle I've now learned to live with. :). (Personally I'm all 100% fine here, with pure spring water that never dries up and my own little generator for charging batteries and other essentials.)
So everyone in the country, myself included, is counting the days to the usually very predictable start of the rainy season in the first week of January. If that fails to materialize, the country (and also Colombia, Peru, and the entire vast Amazon region of Brazil) will be facing a serious problem.
These images aren't my own, but they illustrate what's happening pretty well. :flower:
Do you think this could be because the earth poles are shifting, as in the position of north and south have changed already a bit? I remember a few years ago the news reported about some airport in Florida I think that had to have runway lines changed or repainted because the postion of north and east directions had changed or something like that. Would poles shifting affect weather maybe?
At least 4 dead after powerful atmospheric river event clobbers West Coast (https://www.foxweather.com/weather-news/four-weather-bomb-cyclone-electric-outage)
https://images.foxweather.com/static.foxweather.com/www.foxweather.com/content/uploads/2024/11/668/376/screenshot-2024-11-19-at-13.03.21.png?ve=1&tl=1
A low-pressure system embedded in the flow of the atmospheric river underwent bombogenesis during the workweek and became what is known as a bomb cyclone. The system produced rough waves, heavy rainfall and gusty winds. A National Weather Service observation site in Santa Rosa, California, reported 12.47" in over just three days, qualifying the period as a 1 out of 1,000-year flood event.
During the height of the event, nearly 1 million customers lost power across the Pacific Coast, with hurricane-force wind gusts pushing trees into power lines.
At least two people were killed in Northwest Washington due to falling trees, while flooding and rough seas claimed the lives of at least two others in California.
I do remember back in February 2013 seeing a similar phenomenon occur although not with this degree of density. And it was a cloudless sky (?).
This has been filmed by someone in New York state, and was a response to someone in France filming the exact same thing (https://x.com/BGatesIsaPyscho/status/1860813708923994502); this seems to follow heavy downpours. I also witnessed these 'particles' disappearing almost immediately then in 2013, and had a witness to that as well. What exactly are these? Some have suggested nanobots of some sort, but I do not know precisely what they are.
https://video.twimg.com/ext_tw_video/1860816913716109313/pu/vid/avc1/720x1280/QmcaGk8WyKGZU6IX.mp4?tag=12
Some comments on this, from viewers:
"Make a strong tea/tincture of tobacco, spray it on, see if they dissolve. Nicotine has been found to dissolve nanobots under a microscope."
"“I thought it was Mosquito larvae, but it’s not, it’s gathering all over the place.”
"I find the same in my dog's outside water bowl after rain. NZ. I bottled the stuff and it was still moving weeks later. Freaky."
The footage you posted and linked to creeps me out and frankly makes me absolutely furious.
Since at least the 1950s there are very long lists of secretive biological and chemical weapon tests carried out by the UK and USA on their own citizens. It's a virtual given that other countries were similarly using their unknowing citizens as guinea pigs too.
Regular listeners of Richie Allen's broadcasts will know that he has a friend who is security/head of security at Manchester university's graphene 'research' facility. Richie's friend basically says the security is off the scale in there and they don't really know what all the graphene is being used for. Manchester uni is one thing, Porton Down and other facilities are very likely another.
The obvious questions being are these nanotechnologies or whatever the hell they are injurious to human health? Grazing animals? Soils and the root systems of plants and trees? Freshwater and possibly saltwater fish? The water table? Birds? Insects? Key microorganisms? Essential chemical reactions in nature?
Since at least late May this year the chemtrailing in many countries was greatly increased. The skies over my head have been FUBAR at least 5/6 days per week. Something huge IS going on.
Several times I've noticed moderate/heavy amounts of some black unknown particulate matter on my car's paint in the morning. It's always heaviest on foggy mornings. The particulate matter wasn't wriggling around mind you, that stuff freaks me out.
This American skywatcher (Mike Decker?) is paying particular attention to planes going between France and the USA. He often notices black crap in the trails as well as the typical white/grey stuff.
Bill mentioned above about the drought in South American countries, it is well known in Brazil, the TPTB got plans to destroy the Amazon Rainforest, harvest all the natural resources and probably build large industrial complex in there (smart cities perhaps). I heard a while ago that 3 million hectares of land in the Amazon (Brazilian side only) was sold to the World Bank Group (Rothschild probably own this one too), the mass land sold is known to be rich in gold, diamond, niobium, carbon, fresh clean water, hard wood... but since I could not find any public register of the sales, it remains to be seen if true or not. If I am not wrong that happen right before the former Brazilian president Michel Temer left the presidency, signing a term allowing it to be sold.
If it is weather or not, does not matter much, because there is huge interest in the Amazon as whole (550 million hectares) from this international entities that has ties with families like the Rothschild. So whatever they say is just a front, just another deceiving on the public.
They own everything, the land we live, the house we live, the roads we drive, we are constantly paying taxes to live in their land. More than obvious.
After a record 147 days of drought, it rained heavily last night. (Yay!) The morning dawned dry but overcast, and we headed for the mountains anyway. We were 10 minutes past the high waterfall — which had been a tiny trickle for weeks, but today was an exciting but passable raging torrent — when the cloudy skies opened and we were hit by a violent hailstorm.
[ ... ]
For the next hour, with the hail now turning to heavy icy rain
[ ... ]That was our (very wet!) adventure in the mountains yesterday. But as I write this it's still raining. Here's a comparison photo, the first posted on this thread on 16 November:
Good to remember some past wild weather, back before it could be blamed on people. The good ol’ days of weather disasters, no guilt lol.
Ireland Weather: What to Expect From Storm Éowyn
Met Éireann warns of gale force winds and possible snow
http://www.irishtimes.com/resizer/v2/SCKXULQ24ZDFHAZPBXZL2QUL4A.JPG?auth=4807aa06a8034054a3428b95aa8f24e59b61b435942549b3ea56249d329b2bc6&smart=true&width=1024&height=668
Ireland and surrounding areas should brace themselves for storm force winds, heavy rain, sleet and snow, beginning on Thursday night when Storm Éowyn makes landfall.
Met Éireann has issued an advisory for strong to gale force winds and heavy rain with the possibility of snow in western parts.
The European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) is showing gusts of 175km/h forecast off the coast of Co Kerry on Friday at midday, with parts of inland Kerry, Cork and Waterford set to potentially experience winds of 130km/h at 9am on Friday morning. All parts of the country will have strong winds.
The storm will make landfall on Thursday evening and the winds will start to pick up. By the weekend the whole country is expected to feel its impact.
“There is no two ways about it. It is going to be extremely windy. There will be warnings issued,” said Met Éireann forecaster Mark Rowe.
“The strongest of the winds will be across the southern half of the country, turning to the south and west later in the evening. There will be heavy rain, but this will be primarily a wind event.”
Storm Éowyn would be the fifth named storm of the season, following on from Ashley, Bert, Conall and Darragh.
The origin of the latest name – pronounced Ay-oh-win – has sparked some degree of curiosity. It is perhaps most widely known as the name of a character in JRR Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings series.
Florida's Snowfall Record Smashed as Historic Storm Blasts Gulf Coast
A historic winter snowstorm has reached the Gulf Coast, smothering the region in Arctic air and dropping record-breaking amounts of snow on northern Florida
Florida has been hit by record-breaking snowfall as a historic winter storm sweeps through the Deep South and Gulf Coast.
Florida governor Ron DeSantis issued a state of emergency on Monday (Jan. 20) ahead of the massive snowstorm's arrival in the region. By Tuesday, there were widespread reports of 5 to 12 inches (13 to 31 centimeters) of snow around Pensacola, smashing the previous state record of 4 inches (10 cm), Fox Weather reported.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a warning on Wednesday (Jan. 22), noting there would be "dangerously cold temperatures" for large parts of the South and eastern U.S. The "potentially historic" storm is expected to bring sub-freezing temperatures that will persist throughout the week.
Much of the U.S. is experiencing deep chills as Arctic air sweeps across the eastern two-thirds of the country. The rare snowfall in Florida is part of what could be the biggest snow and ice storm in more than 100 years for some parts of the Gulf Coast, the weather website AccuWeather reported.
Parts of the country from northern Florida to North Carolina will continue to see heavy snow, sleet and freezing rain as the winter storm persists through the week, according to NWS.
An interesting set of notes via Clif High (https://x.com/clif_high/status/1886060737115942949) on an August 2024 remote viewing session by Dick Algire. Of course, not limited to Chicago as we had something very similar happen in the UK in December, and there were similar widespread reports across the USA:
Mount Sakurajima, in Japan, has erupted in nighttime.
Vid POV is likely from the city of Kagoshima, across a stretch of salt water. One comment where I found this tweet, has/adds some historical weight to the city and perhaps region.
One of my favorite places in Japan. Walk around the volcano for some great photos of the city across the bay, relax in the geothermal foot baths, and then take the ferry back to Kagoshima.
It's not everyone's cup of tea, but Kagoshima played a huge role in Japan's abrupt modernization in the 19th century, particularly the Meiji Restoration and the Satsuma Rebellion. Heihachiro Togo was born there as well. It's usually uncrowded, and the weather is fairly nice thanks to it sharing a similar latitude with San Diego and the Mediterranean.
...and yeah, there's a decent chance you'll get to see Sakurajima erupt while you're there.
Apologies I could not embed this video. It shows footage of people preparing for Cyclone Alfred to hit in the areas of northern NSW and Queensland (Australia).
People I know say it is like pre-Covid days with road blocks, fear, speculation, empty highways and shops closing days in advance.
At least 26 killed as monster storm spreads across the US (5:24)
(March 15, 2025) Severe storms are sweeping across the U.S., leaving devastation in their wake. At least 26 deaths have been reported across four states as powerful winds spawn tornadoes, fuel wildfires, and create dust storm conditions.
