This super catchy song by Vance Joy set all kinds of records on the radio. You may not remember it by title but I'm pretty sure you all have heard it. One day I was struck by the notion that the song had some deeper/occult meaning and thought that was silly until I watched the video then I was convinced the video was FULL of occult symbolism.

My analysis of the music VIDEO (not necessarily the song) is that it is depicting a person’s journey into the world of the occult. It begins with a person being afraid of it at first but then he embraces it, perhaps following the left handed path. He is seen as the ‘magician’ casting a spell or giving an oracle through the video’s images. Sound crazy? Well let’s examine the evidence. Because I have embedded dozens of frames from the video I have posted the analysis and frame by frame review here:

I thought I'd look for an interview and it starts pretty straight forward
and did not say anything about occult influences but it is interesting
what he did say and there maybe more to come out in another interview.

Aprox 3 mins in he says he wrote the first two lines in 2008, but thought
the song was going no where. Then four years later he wrote the melody
for the chorus. Then things came into my head like a streaming of
consciousness kind of lyrics and the song came together. ( paraphrasing)

So it seems it came to him from non -physical or somewhere in his
sub conscious. Who knows ?

Yeah, I've read other places (included a bit in my analysis) that he refers to it as "channeling the song".
