Academics and scientists alike are sitting at the apex of the cerebral universe. They are of the opinion that they are the smartest folks and or beings in existence.

What makes me crazy is when anyone says that something does not exist.
Just for a moment take that as a premise for an argument.

1. Person A claims that X does not exist.
2. Person A must know everything that exists.
3. Person A knows that X is not among all the things that exist.

Seams reasonable to state that most people (maybe even 100%) do not know everything that goes on just in their neighbor's house much less everywhere on earth and through all time.

It seems very very safe to ignore anyone who claims the non-existence or impossibility of anything.
Anyone doing so is effectively claiming to be God who by definition is supposed to know everything.

Having said all that, what Bill is saying about what NASA is doing seems consistent of NASA trickling in the existence of life beyond earth. All the timetables I have seen from NASA suggest that they wish this knowledge to be only available no earlier than 2038. I presume that in their thinking it will give people enough time to prepare.
