Despite the common belief that all I listen to is Power Metal, one of the genres of music that feeds me a nostalgic and powerful energy is Vocal Trance.
The evolutionary nature of "the last original genre of our time" is something I very much enjoy listening to. Mixed with something to sing along to, this type of music is nothing but a joy for me to partake in.
Always remember, as this song serenades us with:
come on and close your eyes
what i show you goes beyond what we see
you can travel with your mind
leave all your worries behind
come and flow into the music
spread your wings and fly
Egnk5KUPIaM
If you feel for this kind of music like I do, send over your favorites! I'd love to create a place to collectively share the best of the best.

I'm sure Bill will sigh ( at best ) and say, oh not another music thread. :)
Guilty as charged, but I would rather provide inspiration and meditation at this point. There are amazing things being created by people that can really help heal and induce a state of mind healthy enough for superb action. I merely call upon those who also like something to share other good vibrations (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rEhQWxhjHNA).
That or I am a disinformation agent trying to distract you? Whatever you want me to be. I intend it with the heart of Gaia. Music can heal and I have put a lot of study into it. Enjoy or disapprove, your feeling is the reality you create.

Welcome to the Touhou subpost. Alright, so as soon as Japan becomes involved, all genres become mixed. You have been warned.
For those of you that know what Touhou is, just move onto the songs linked below. Touhou was borne of the 90s and has a lot of its roots as a "bullet hell (https://bulk2.destructoid.com/ul/user/1/159784-228999-Touhoumadnessbykevynleojpg-620x.jpg)" arcade style game where you control a small child flying through the skies bringing peace or something like that. The franchise exploded thanks to its fans who continue to push the bar higher and higher. There are now dueling games, a few dozen anime, hundreds of audio remixers, thousands of art sites, and a whole canon of the strange adventures of a shrine maiden.
Are you ready? Lets go! Choose your mode:
easy mode (wait, is this pop music) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UnxpK_aqpd8)
normal mode (smooth sailing easy like a trance) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3UAkTlTPns)
hard mode (boss battle bullet hell insanity) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vK0oisQ-f20)
source material (someone actually playing the game; too hard for our reality) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=utGmwWVq-ck)
Feel free to branch out on this thread! I ain't gonna police you for trying to be under the umbrella term! Not after this post, especially
;)

.....Paul Oakenfold Trance Mix when he was at the height of his 'Goa' power.....
I'd beg to differ. Oakenfold's very brief foray into Goa was imo best exemplified by this release which he only compiled as a dj. He never actually wrote any Goa.
nb: click here (https://www.discogs.com/Paul-Oakenfold-Danny-Rampling-A-Voyage-Into-Trance-Dragonfly/release/238475) to see how much of a player Martin Freeland was in carving out that sound:

Akasha,
Agreed, Oakey took the credit for bringing the Goa sound back to the UK, but was far from an originator. Not a bad move. I remember his Goa Trance mix on Tong's Essential Mix on a December night in 1994.........
I've pretty much every tune you've posted on vinyl......... Awesome. I could weep.
The 90's. The last AUTHENTIC music-movement. I've made a lengthy post on here, somewhere, about Castle Morton and the move to bring the big parties inside and control them. I gotta tell you, and you'll know this, dj'ing to those crowds, with that energy, is the closest I've ever come to a 'spiritual' experience.
An often overlooked man, who we have a lot to thank for, is Charlie May (one half of Spooky and many others), the man that was behind Sasha's sound. He's still putting out some excellent stuff, well worth checking.
Great post's on this thread. Orbital, Platipus Records, Jam & Spoon (RIP Mark Spoon), .......... Martin Freeland, WoW.

We’re definitely on the same page - no doubt about it. Your comment about “dj’iing to those crowds with that energy….” I couldn’t agree more.
I’d say it was a spiritual experience. At points in the sets, it was as if my ego was fully dissolved (a monumental achievement lol) into the collective’s energy which had in turn taken control of my body, resulting in mixes, many of which were for the most part unrehearsed, sounding “heaven sent” and who knows, maybe they were. Granted I had a grip on djing to be able to switch off from the nuts and bolts aspect of it, but this was something else. A very profound and highly physical as well as (what I would describe as) a spiritual experience which brought me to the brink of tears on many occasion. That’s my idea of channelling - f''' all this Galactic Federation of Light B.S.
Drug-addled psycho-babble from one old dj to another? Whatever. Just sharing my experiences.
Re Charlie May, I loved Spooky well before getting Goa-ized in ’94 when an old friend took me to “Return to the Source” at the Fridge in Brixton.
Funny you mention Castle Morton (I must find your post) ‘cos a very close friend was running the Spiral Tribe rig when all that went down (a couple of years before my time to be honest).
You wouldn’t know him by any chance would you? He went on to be half of Universal Sound (https://www.discogs.com/artist/32361-Universal-Sound), a third of Cydonia (https://www.discogs.com/artist/917-Cydonia) and half of Semsis (https://www.discogs.com/artist/27084-Semsis).

@ Akasha.
I agree. I likened it (non-conciously dj'ing) to being a conduit. Some of my best sets and mixes were on the fly and unrehearsed........... When they happened I'd be buggered if I could remember the what and where of the mixing. Great days.
I don't think I met who you've mentioned, although I did know Digs and Whoosh and had them come to the club where I was resident. I loved the DiY crew and they were pretty tight with the Spiral guys.

For some reason, that one reminds me strongly of TC1991 - Berry.

Yes... we should.
Or... simply meet up at the Beatherder (music festival) in lancashire..
That is... beat-herder .... (beatherder.co.uk) ... It's the best ever!
There's always a very broad age range at that festival... but always happy party people.
The age range goes from 20's to 60s... (i'm not kidding) ... plenty of people older then me.. dancing and around and having a good time.
And lots of people, dancing around, cained or lar-lar'd, and reminiscing about the music of the early 90's.
So what's beatherder like ? See here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FM0YgNM9HRg
Those of you with a JD'ing history, might be able to land a spot on one of the several decks.
Beatherder 2016 has been and gone. It was in July.
But there's always beatherder 2017 to look forward to. :-)
Now if beatherder was held in late Sept or October, that would have been perfect timing.
be happy :)

Absolutely Lucidity. Those Italian guys have some production history behind them, that was one of my favourite periods. You could actually feel the tension rise and release when Berry was dropped......... All part of the FPi Project stable of dj's and producers.
Love the look of that festival, could be food for thought, am always up for a good party although a couple of shandy's is as hard as I hit it now.
This was a favourite FPi tune of mine as it had quite a sad feel about it........ in a minor key with an uplifting piano break.

I remember hearing the following track for the first time at one of the Best of British Friday nighters at Ministry on way too much acid and billy to be sensible. I can still remember the Box filled with crazies and smoke and the strobes on overtime during that epic breakdown, and then how it went off after. At the time, the sound system was, i think, the most powerful installed rig in the world @ 80K if I'm not mistaken.
.....according to Justin Berkmann, who founded the club 20 years ago, the risk of entering The Box (right) is real.
The sound system has a capacity of 156 decibels – somewhat louder than Concorde taking off. "I told the DJs: 'If you turn it up to 10, not only will you kill everyone in the room, you will also kill yourself'," says Berkmann, who compares the power of the system to that of a Formula 1 motor car. "There were a number of DJs who were terrified, and rightly, because you were playing with a gun basically – it was something that could really hurt people. There were a lot of DJs that were barely going over five because they were just terrified." These days, the club never uses more than 45 per cent of the system's power to maximise sound clarity.....(from here (http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/features/club-class-20-years-of-the-ministry-of-sound-2264034.html))

Note to Fanna: Sorry if I've gone off topic in terms of what you had in mind. It's just the more modern "trance" seems to have sold out in a way that the old stuff didn't. Listening to the track you offered in the OP, it sounds like electronic pop to me, with trancey sounds but not actually trance in terms of putting the listener in a trance, and actually comprising of the tried and tested, some would say default 4 chord song structure - humorously illustrated by Axis of Awesome below:
5pidokakU4I
That doesn't necessarily make it worse, It's just that we would go to trance nights to literally "lose it" and I don't think the producers of what I call modern cheesy trance know how or even want to write music which actually does that. It's like the difference between your 12 year old sister trying to hypnotize you vs. a professional hypnotist doing it. Do you know what I mean?

Sacred Cycles.... Now there's a gem. The etheric sample that runs through the beginning of the tune is Genesis's Fountain of Salmacis, always loved how Lazonby used it.

I spent years dancing with the same folks over and over again.
Sure we talked. Sure we shared a small portion of our day to day lives together.
But for those of us who really danced.
For those of us entered the trance and activated atrophied parts of our energy field that normal folks will never know.
There was a sharing.
A state of consciousness was achieved and shared, and this was in a way something you could compare with the very best sex, except we had no strings attached, no cords, no dependence on one another.
Except that we were all there when it happened.
I will always have a very special place in my heart for those people who have shared time with me and elevated my consciousness by sharing the dance floor with me.
You can not be a really good dancer without performing a little magic.
And that magic is activating areas in your energy field that have been left dormant for the greater portion of your life.

Sacred Cycles.... Now there's a gem. The etheric sample that runs through the beginning of the tune is Genesis's Fountain of Salmacis, always loved how Lazonby used it.....
I had no idea the epic sample in the Lazonby track was Genesis?!
Kudos to Orbit - electronica legend!
Dr Atomic track really takes me back! That bass drop on a decent rig - Oooooooooooh!
I was a hardcore techno dancer, spent about ten years doing it. No regrets. Some of my deepest meditation abilities come from dance and the meditation it provides.

Possibly the most killer morning (psy') tune of '99, dropped to much grinning at around 10am one Sunday morning in August in a field on The Downs between Brighton and the Dyke in front of approx' 500 people on possibly the most scorching day of that summer. Dust everywhere, hands and dreads flailing about, you get the picture........there was even a naked woman wandering about aimlessly playing a flute!!!
At 1am the police were blocking vehicles from parking in an adjoining field; at 10am they were back insisting everyone put their cars in the same field 'cos there was about a mile of cars blocking the road - the unquestionable wisdom of authority.

"Harmony is the key, my Sister and Brother"
Absolutely Lucidity. Those Italian guys have some production history behind them, that was one of my favourite periods. You could actually feel the tension rise and release when Berry was dropped......... All part of the FPi Project stable of dj's and producers.
Love the look of that festival, could be food for thought, am always up for a good party although a couple of shandy's is as hard as I hit it now.
This was a favourite FPi tune of mine as it had quite a sad feel about it........ in a minor key with an uplifting piano break.

When this tune came out, I still have the white-label copy with zero information on it, I thought it'd been beamed down from some future techno-crazy race of Aliens! It sounded like nothing that was around. I reckon in 500yrs time, it'll still sound like the future.
Regards.
I recall that many ravers of that time,
were very enthusiastic for what they called Italian House.
FPI project are old favourites of mine.
(TC1991, TC1992 & TC1993 were all side projects of FPI project .. so all Italian house)
I dont remember Mental Cube at all... Maybe i went to the wrong clubs.
But i do like it. I've added to my favourites ... Thanks for that.

C.J.Bolland – Mantra - R&S Records (1992)
Bolland indeed ("crazy" in Hungarian - spelt differently but phonetically practically the same)!
This YouTube uploader had the foresight to record it at -2 on the pitch slider (although there are much better recordings on YT at the normal tempo). I never heard it faster than that in all my time clubbing. I guess most djs (that I heard) agreed that he wrote it at too high a tempo.

At a guess, I'd say I have 40+ releases on Guerilla Records, for an 18 month period they were top-draw but the formula becomes quickly dated in the fast-changing production scene.

In the YT comments section for this tune, someone describes it as "epic sex music".......... Couldn't have said it better myself. I remember the first time I dropped this in the club, the crowd went from standing, wondering, unsure, frantic, to out-and-out euphoria and bewilderment. It was a bugger to mix out of, but well worth it. The manager came into the box and just put his arms around me. 12 and a half minutes of sheer genius. I call these "journey tunes".

A+ to No. 2 for the excellent tunage !
When i just starting out on my early 1990's
dancey-ravey music appreciation career...
I would sometimes get butterflies at the start of a

Some of these tracks in No 2's posts (above), I haven't heard in donkey's years.

I really love how many of the names of producers, groups and songs are really tapping into a level of consciousness back when this genre got going...very tribal...unity...You are here as you know it ;) . Dance and the drum beat of Earth Mother is what it is all tuning into.

Yup that track was spot on. I just stumbled across it. I used to rave a reasonable amount back in the olden days, and interestingly it is an integral part of my spiritual "awakening" and experiences. A rave, with the extremely load, all frequency "vibrational "Bass" music, the light show / lasers / projector imagery, the fog, the outfits / costumes / dress, the talented dancers / artists, all work together to overload your senses. The experience to the brain is similar to deprivation of the senses (i.e.e a sensory deprecation chamber) and often a spiritual experience is the result.
I had a Technohead album ... I was always more into more exotic subgenres (and still am), but I don't mind some good 'ol hard techno once in a while.

Oh don't think psytrance or electronic is my "taste" exclusively - I actually spend more time on the Heavy metal thread than I do here; the Classical and Blues threads are just as much my home as well ... I have no limits in my variable ranges of aural enjoyment :) As far as electronica go, I like many of the newer subgenres, hard glitch, neuro, electro-swing, a little a dubstep (most of it I don't like much though). Hard trance brings me back to my raving days tho :)
So I'll mix it up a little here a little neuro and glitch ... but still hard :)

Great selection of music. I do long distance cycling and I love to listen to both high energy and soothing trance. Helps to pass the miles. I enjoy Native American and particularly the following. It is set to 528 hertz. 528Hz tuned music encourages us to restore human consciousness to its full power and potential and to repair DNA. I'm not sure if it is fixing my DNA but anything that makes you happy and relaxed can't hurt.

Carl Cox anyone? I used to go to his parties back in the mid 90's and he never failed to deliver. In my daily life his sets are multi purpose (at the gym, in the car, relaxing, partying) Technically he's one of the very best and I'm glad to see he is still going strong in 2017. Here's one of my favorite set it's a duel between Carl and another very good Dj it gives them both an opportunity to show their mastery.

Yeah, Carl Cox was definitely there in the 1st hour as far as the Rave scene was concerned. Loved his set during the Millenium Rave on Sydney's Bondi Beach back in the day. Totally flipped my noodle when his mix of New Order's Blue Monday kicked in.
Ah, the nostalgia.
I wish Röyksopp would tour Australia one of these days.

There is already an electronic music thread -- it mostly contains trance variations (mostly hard stuff tho), but I have thrown up a few dubstep and glitch songs as well. Would you mind if we merged this with that thread to keep all electronic music together?
In the mean time, I'll add this:

Heres an older trance track of mine that I made. Hope it lifts up at least someones spirits and makes them go to a peaceful or inspirational frame of mind

I hate the throbbing back ground music to Youtube vids, but that's...not bad. Remnant of Disco?

I've been thinking about pulling out my setup and trying some stuff again ... I have Cubase 5.1, M-Audio midi controller (http://8e5aac4bc793d119543e-a784f0287de17aca81e7ecc053e60785.r69.cf2.rackcdn.com/830/images/Oxygen25-3qtr.jpg), and an older Tascam audio / midi interface (https://www.videoguys.com.au/ProdImages/24141/us122mk2.jpg).
So not a whole lot either, lol. I do have a few good VST instruments for Cubase though.
Your tune proves you don't need a complex setup to make a great song!

I'm starting to get into minimal techno (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minimal_techno) lately ... Boris Brejcha specifically - he is, at the moment, the best in this genre for my tastes. Boris is also his own DJ, which adds a little something special to his full sets - his DJ style obviously fits perfect with his music creation style. If I pull out my equipment and re-install Cubase, I think I'll give minimal techno a whirl.

Is this for me? Yeah I probably won't be doing that until maybe I have some new stuff that I'm confident in ... I do have a link or two somewhere on this forum to one or two of my tunes, but those would be buried deep away somewhere ... that said Im still feeling the tug to re-install cubase and try something new ... time will tell if I actually do it -- if anything good comes out of it, I'll post it. :)
