Though most of us have heard similar stories before--law of average says sooner later it will be true--that might be today or thousands of years away.
Dangerous to cry wolf and dangerous not to.

Nonsense. (of course) :)
Think about it: (please) if an asteroid was going to strike the planet in 3 days, why post anything about it? :) We'd all know soon enough.
Really think about it, again. What's the purpose of a silly thread like this? It's 100% disempowering... no useful information at all. And 99.99999999% likely to be false. (BPEarthwatch is one of the many hoax sites out there.)
Moved to the HOAXES section. Please don't do this again. :bearhug:

The anonymous informer changed the arrival date:
I’m still working on figuring out the new arrival date but it looks like it would be early October at the new rate. (source (http://littlepebble.org/2016/09/17/update-2-asteroid-to-hit-possibly-25-september-2016/))
http://hisz.rsoe.hu/alertmap/index2.php#neo
LD=lunar distance, 384,000 kilometers.
According to this link you provided, the nearest approaching object will be 2009 UG on September 30, some 7.3 LD away (almost 2 million miles).
So that there will be no impact or 'strike' in September nor in October. We're safe until November. I'm of the opinion that the anonymous source is delusional.

Bill, I think this is an insidious move to place it into the known hoaxes section. Awareness must begin in the alternative media before we can hope for the information to reach the main stream media and the masses as regards the third party candidates in the current US election cycle.

You mean you think it's real? :)
You're not being very logical about this. Do please think for a moment!
Either it's real (unlikely!!) or it's not.
If it's real, there's no point in the thread. (We're already doomed, by the end of the week. :) )
If it's not real, there's no point in the thread.
My point: this is a 100% valueless item to discuss. The ONLY two effects are:
It makes people anxious.
It's a distraction from genuinely important issues.
This kind of silly invented scare (which is what this is) is NOT what the forum is for. It's the alternative media at (almost!) its worst.

Giant Meteor 2016
Their most recent Facebook post dated September 18 is:
Apocalyptic asteroid with power of 3 billion nukes may be headed for Earth (http://www.aol.com/article/2016/09/16/apocalyptic-asteroid-with-power-of-3-billion-nukes-may-be-headed) (source (https://www.facebook.com/meteor2016/))
which might be the asteroid OP is asking about:
Anyone know more about this asteroid?
It seems to have been debunked:

Apocalyptic asteroid with power of 3 billion nukes misses Earth
nlzgXKT5bTE
NANJING, CHINA — Earlier this month, a Chinese telescope captured images of an asteroid headed towards earth.
The asteroid, labeled as 2009ES by the Minor Planet Center, is one of 1,640 “minor bodies,” celestial bodies smaller than dwarf planets that are potentially on a collision course with earth.
The asteroid was recently observed by the Purple Mountain Observatory in Nanjing. The observatory’s 1.2-meter Schmit telescope is the largest of its kind in Asia, according to the China Daily.
Luckily, the asteroid missed. 2009ES flew by within a range of 18.8 times of the distance between the earth and the moon, the the China Daily reported.
The asteroid missed, but it will pass by earth again four months from now as it returns to the outer solar system.
But should an asteroid of its size, around 10,000 meters, collide with earth, the impact would be the equivalent to that of three billion atomic bombs.

Thanks! :clapping:
Note that
It's already flown by.
The miss wasn't even a near one. 18.8 times the earth-moon distance isn't even close. That kind of thing happens pretty often.
Where did the 'in 3 days' bit ever come from?? SO easy for people to pick something up (either because they misunderstand it, are malevolent/mischievous, or sometimes are just not very bright), and then -- like the asteroid! -- the scary, false story wings its way around quite unstoppably, gaining momentum as it goes.

The Truth About the “September 2015 Asteroid Impact” (http://www.armaghplanet.com/blog/the-truth-about-the-september-2015-asteroid-impact.html)
Maybe you have seen one of the alarming videos or emails circulating around the internet claiming that the End is Nigh. The claim is that an enormous dinosaur-killer of an asteroid is going to smash into the Earth sometime between 15-28 September 2015. The scary predictions say that the asteroid will come down in the Atlantic Ocean near Puerto Rico, causing a “300ft tsunami” and a “Magnitude 12” earthquake [...]
(UPDATE: As nothing happened in September some people are now claiming that an asteroid will impact the Earth in December 2015. This new prediction is also false.)

Of course it's nonsense...the point I was trying to make was the fact that I wondered if it was a good thing or bad thing (seems most missed the point perhaps I should have highlighted that sentence. ) if it did happen...just pissed off Bill with all the evil that continues to go on... with all the fluffy messages we get from various sources...things are not changing are they? ... Hey ho one way or another I welcome a re set.
