‘The UN human rights office says the Saudi military is using cluster bombs against
residential areas in Yemen in violation of international law, blaming the Riyadh regime
for most of the civilian casualties in its impoverished southern neighbour. On Thursday,
UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad Zeid al-Hussein called for the
creation of an independent international body to investigate cases of human rights
violations in conflict-ridden Yemen.

“Civilians in Yemen have suffered unbearably over the years from the effects of a number
of simultaneous and overlapping armed conflicts,” Hussein said in a statement, adding that
“they continue to suffer…while those responsible for the violations and abuses against them
enjoy impunity.”’

a source in the delegation told Sputnik Saturday.

The UN-brokered talks to end the Yemeni conflict started in Kuwait on April 21.
The talks ended in early August, with the government and Houthi rebels failing
to come to an agreement. As the talks wrapped up, the Houthi delegation flew

Western Value... Making a Killing in Yemen

‘The slaughter in Yemen just keeps getting worse, with civilians at the bloody forefront.
Yet, shamefully – moreover tellingly – there is no uproar in the Western media. The silence
is in spite of the fact that Western governments are profiting massively from supporting
the Saudi military actions in its southern neighbor. Where is the presumed high-minded
Western journalism to investigate this horror?

In the latest atrocity, on Monday, more than 10 civilian patients and one staff at a hospital
were killed when Saudi warplanes bombed the facility in the northern province of Hajjah.
The hit was confirmed by French-based medical charity, Doctors Without Borders, which
runs the hospital. It was the fourth time over the past year that a DWB facility in Yemen
was targeted in air raids.’

Red Cross donates morgues in Yemen amid mounting civilian death toll

‘With the humanitarian situation in Yemen growing ever more gruesome
amid the bombing campaign by Saudi-led coalition, the Red Cross tells RT
it had to provide the country with morgues as it is unable to deal with the
influx of the dead and the wounded.

“In many cases you had several bodies stuffed on one shelf, in one morgue
unit, so the situation was not sustainable, the hospitals asked for our support,
and we decided to donate morgues, which is something that we rarely do,”
Rima Kamal, Yemen-based spokeswoman for the Red Cross told RT, noting
that it’s not in the usual Red Cross practice to deal with morgues, as their
field of work mostly focuses on providing food, water and healthcare.’

‘The United States could be implicated in war crimes for supporting Saudi Arabia’s

According to the documents obtained by Reuters, US government lawyers warned
Washington last year that it might be considered a “co-belligerent” in the Saudi war

ability to prevent the killing of civilians and the destruction of “critical infrastructure”

Nonetheless, the US government has continued to authorize weapons sales to Saudi

‘Photos and video have emerged online of what is claimed to be fragments of a
US-made bomb found at the scene of a deadly strike on a mourning hall in the
Yemeni capital Saana. Saudi Arabia had earlier denied responsibility for the attack.

One photo, which a prominent Saana lawyer posted on his Facebook page, shows
what is claimed to be a fragment of an Mk-82 precision bomb produced by Raytheon,
one of the main US defense contractors. The photo was allegedly taken at the scene
of the bombing, and has a serial number and words in English referring to the bomb
model written on it.

Another photo taken by an ITV News correspondent on the scene shows fragments
of what is the same type of bomb, according to a local munitions expert he consulted.’

‘The United States and Britain are fully aware of the civilian nature of Saudi Arabia’s
targets in Yemen and yet continue to provide the regime in Riyadh with weapons and
intelligence required to hit them, a new report has revealed.

According to a report published by The Intercept on Monday, London and Washington
“have indiscriminately and at times deliberately” led Saudi warplanes to strike civilian
targets in Yemen during the kingdom’s months-long military aggression against its
southern neighbor, which has killed more than 10,000 Yemenis since its onset in March 2015.

Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir acknowledged in January that British and American
military commanders were in the command room.’

‘The US military has carried out a series of “limited self-defence strikes” in Yemen,
the Pentagon has announced. The attack, authorized by President Obama, was
carried out in retaliation to recent attacks on the US naval destroyer, USS Mason.

According to the Pentagon’s initial assessments, three “radar sites” in the Houthi
rebel-controlled area of Yemen were destroyed in the attack.

The attack on coastal targets was carried out by Tomahawk cruise missiles launched
from the destroyer USS Nitze, NPR reported. According to US officials all targets were
“in remote areas, where there was little risk of civilian casualties or collateral damage.”’

It seems that "The War The World forgot" has been successfully re-buried anew... right? ... Cider?

One option is the Saudi alliance and their mercenaries have got bogged
down in the classic no win situation . The US & UK who both have close
ties to the Saudi royals and massive trade deals have tried to keep the
conflict off the mainstream news unlike Syria, but reports do get thru.

This may be a one off retaliatory strike ? or a staged event to open the
way for more direct support for Saudi ? I doubt they will take that rout
unless they have too. But with all these plans and agenda they can be
driven or altered by events.......

To be fair this is being broadcast in some Arab/muslim media.....

Saudi Arabia's war on Yemen continues to claim civilian lives in the impoverished
Arab state. At least four people have been killed in Saudi artillery shelling on a
residential neighborhood in the western city of Ta'izz. Meanwhile, more than 80
Saudi-backed mercenaries were killed in clashes with Yemeni forces in Dhubab
district of Ta’izz province. This came a day after casualties were reported in Yemeni
retaliatory rocket attacks against the hideouts of the mercenaries in Hazm, the
provincial capital of Jawf. More than 85-hundred Yemenis have lost their lives in the
year-long Saudi war.

Did the US just commit a False Flag in Yemen? (http://www.fort-russ.com/2016/10/did-us-just-commit-false-flag-in-yemen.html)

The US is a master at creating provocations that lead to war. Many of the Americans’ wars of conquest have begun with alleged attacks on their soldiers or civilians after which the army and navy of one of the most powerful states in the world invades another people’s territory.

On Thursday, October 13th, Reuters reported “another” Houthi attack on the USS Mason destroyer. Two anti-ship missiles were supposedly launched at the ship but missed, but the American ship was compelled to strike back and destroy a radar station on Yemeni territory.

Afterwards, the Pentagon published a rather interesting message: “Those who threaten our forces should know that U.S. commanders retain the right to defend their ships, and we will respond to this threat at the appropriate time and in the appropriate manner.”

There is much interesting here, but we’ll get to this later. First, let’s retrace the chain of events.

On October 1st, 2016, an American high-speed HSV-2 military transport, leased to the UAE for rapidly transporting troops between Yemeni ports, was attacked. The ship, which has a cruising speed of over 40 knots, was ideally useful and even indispensable for quickly transporting troops from one front to another.

Ltqv2QR-n5E
As we can see, the ship burned out completely after the attack and will most likely never return to surf the ocean again.

Then, on October 10th, 2016, the US stated that its Mason destroyer had been attacked by two missiles which, before reaching the ship, fell into the water. Two days later, the attack was supposedly repeated but with the same failed result.

The Houthis’ arsenal in Yemen includes “Nur” coastal anti-ship rocket complexes of Iranian production. Each of corresponding missiles has a firing range of 120 km and a payload of around 150 kg. The HSV-2 and Mason destroyer were attacked near the port of Mokha, which is only 50 km away from the shores of Eritrea. How could the rocket have not made it to its target, especially if 2 were launched, and then another 2 were launched two days later? If they had been launched with the help of electronic warfare guidance, i.e., those radar stations, then the US could have simply said the the attack failed or was deflected. But the question here is not about bragging. There were hundreds of sailors on the ship who could spill the beans about what really happened.

If you shoot at a passing destroyer with any close-range missile complex, even at night, then the missiles will, of course, fall into the water, and then the world can talk about the treachery of the Houthis. And the ship’s crew might even have seen what happened. In fact, the port of Mokha is situated close to the front line, and therefore the Houthi supporters of Hadi easily could have produced such a strike.

If the Americans really did bother about these spectacles, then they could have thought through and invented the story from beginning to end.

It also cannot be said that the American ship was attacked by mistake. Dozens of vessels go through the strait daily and not a single one has been hit by a mistaken strike. Much less has one been shot at more than once. Moreover, confusing a 10,000 ton ship at a distance of 20-30 km for a light Saudi Arabian or UAE warship is simply impossible.

Even taking into consideration the disagreements between the US and Saudi Arabia, the Americans are continuing to support the Saudis. Iran and Russia are the enemies of the United States, and it is unlikely that Washington will allow Russia to gain a foothold in the region. Any coastal missile system which can successfully attack an American military ship in the Bab El-Mandeb strait is therefore a threat to them, and needs to be removed.

Hence why they came up with this provocation. Most likely, the American destroyer simply patrolled the area for a few days and waited until the coastal radar station would work, and then struck. In order to cover up this act of aggression against a foreign country in the information space, they came up with the story of a failed attack which no one except themselves knows.

Judging by the Pentagon’s statement, they will continue to patrol the region and strike at radar systems which the US deems dangerous. In general, one can consider these actions by the US to be their reaction to a failed Houthi attack on their military ship rented to the UAE. But will this have further consequences? Definitely. The Houthis will have to stop attacking ships or their systems (especially radar stations) will be rapidly destroyed.

Will the Americans launch more strikes? There is too little information to analyze this. But the first and most important step towards this have already been taken. The pretext is the first strike. From now on, it’ll be easier. And after a year, everyone will forget about this.

Iran has deployed a fleet of warships to the Gulf of Aden, the republic's naval commander has confirmed. The deployment follows US cruise missile strikes on Yemeni positions thought to be under Houthi rebel control.

The Iranian Navy has sent the warships to international waters for a mission that includes entering the area off the southern coast of Yemen, Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari confirmed on Wednesday. The area is among the world’s busiest maritime trade routes.

“The fleet will provide security to sea ways for Iranian vessels and protect Iran’s interests on the high seas,” Sayyari told Press TV.

“The 34th Fleet is comprised of the Bushehr logistic vessel and Alborz destroyer, and will conduct a three-month mission.”

The commander said the fleet had departed from the southern port city of Bandar Abbas in Iran. He dismissed claims the fleet has been deployed to intervene in the conflict in Yemen.

Saudi Arabia, which has fought a long war with Yemen’s Houthi rebels, accuses Iran of supporting the group – a charge denied by Tehran.

The US military carried out “limited self-defense strikes” in Yemen on Thursday, in retaliation for recent attacks on an American naval destroyer, USS Mason, which has been operating north of the Bab Al-Mandab Strait.

According to the Pentagon’s initial assessments, three “radar sites” in the Houthi rebel-controlled area of Yemen were destroyed in the attack.

The attack on coastal targets was carried out by Tomahawk cruise missiles launched from the destroyer USS Nitze, NPR reported.

The Houthis have denied carrying out the attack, however. A military source reportedly told Saba news agency – a media outlet run by the group – that the assault did not come from areas under its control.

Despite its ancient roots as the crossroads of Africa, the Middle East and Asia, the modern
Republic of Yemen is a relatively new state. It was created after communist South Yemen
and traditional North Yemen merged in 1990, following years of strife. Tensions remain
between the north and the south, however. A southern separatist movement was defeated
in a short civil war in 1994, and tensions re-emerged in 2009 when government troops and
rebels, known as the Houthi, clashed in the north, killing hundreds and displacing more than
a quarter of a million people.A fresh wave of protests in 2011, inspired by the Arab Spring
uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt, forced then-President Ali Abdallah Saleh to resign.

Yemen has also become a base for militant groups, like Al-Qaeda and Islamic State, adding
to instability in the country. The country spiralled into civil war in 2014 and, despite peace
initiatives, fighting continues.

Yemen: The Anguish, Bloodshed and Forgotten Heroes in a Forgotten War

‘It should be personal to all of us. Yemen, regularly portrayed as the poorest nation in
the Arab world, is proving itself to be the richest in courage, resourcefulness and resilience…

…Yemen are a people under attack by an undeclared superpower coalition comprised of the
Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, US, UK, EU, UAE and Israel. Like in Syria, while the Yemeni people
are under attacks by power powers, they are simultaneously being collectively punished by
the illegal sanctions imposed by a corrupt United Nations body, on the pretext of legitimizing
an illegitimate fugitive ex-president, Saudi Arabia and Washington’s hand-picked puppet leader,
Mansour Hadi, who demanded that neighbouring Saudi Arabia to bomb his own people – even
after Hadi had resigned twice from an already over-extended presidential term, before fleeing
to his alma mater in Riyadh.’

‘Human Rights Watch has accused the Saudi-led coalition of war crimes following
an airstrike on a funeral in Yemen, which left at least 110 dead and over 600 wounded.
The watchdog has also lambasted the US and the UK for supplying weapons to the Saudis.

On October 8, at least two air-dropped munitions penetrated the roof of a hall containing
over 1,000 mourners, killing at least 110 people and wounding 610 during the funeral
ceremony of Ali al-Rawishan, the father of the Sana’a-based administration’s interior

“A Saudi Arabia-led coalition airstrike on a crowded funeral ceremony in Yemen’s capital,

Yemen conflict: Saudis blame funeral hall bombing on mistake
2 hours ago

At least 140 people were killed in the bombing

The Saudi-led coalition bombing Houthi rebels in Yemen has said it attacked a
funeral hall in the capital, Sanaa, based on "bad information".At least 140 people
were killed, most of them civilians, in the attack on 8 October - one of the single
worst death tolls in the two-year conflict. An inquiry blames "non-compliance with
coalition rules of engagement" and "the issuing of incorrect information".

The attack was heavily criticised internationally.

The 14-nation Saudi-led inquiry, carried out by the Joint Incidents Assessment
Team, said coalition aircraft were wrongly told that the funeral hall was full of
Houthi leaders. It said "a party affiliated to the Yemeni presidency of the general
chief of staff" was to blame.

Nothing concrete resulted but the US and Russia spoke of "ideas" emerging.

The London talks began with discussions about Yemen and a call for a

Somewhere around sixteen Saudi/Gulf Monarchy ships have been sunk by the Yemenis. The American one has Electronic Counter-Measures (ECM) to force most missile attacks to fail. I would think if the Yemenis actually initiated this, they would say so; furthermore, the radar towers were already defunct from Saudi strikes. The Iranian Navy may go about making things a little more complicated.

‘Two separate deadly Saudi airstrikes against civilian sites in Yemen’s northwestern provinces of
Amran and Sa’ada have broken the United Nations-brokered ceasefire in the war-ravaged Arabian
Peninsula state.Three people lost their lives on Thursday, when Saudi fighter jets struck a bridge
in the Harf Sufyan district of Amran province, located 53 kilometers northwest of the capital Sana’a,
Yemen’s Arabic-language al-Masirah television network reported.

Another three people were killed in the Baqim district of Sa’ada when Saudi warplanes struck a residential building.’

Just came across an interesting email from Wikileaks re the UAE, Erik Prince and mercenaries in the Middle East. I am not sure this is the best place for it but I couldn't find a more appropriate thread.

Secret Desert Force Set Up by Blackwater’s Founder Adam Ferguson/VII Network
Erik Prince, the founder of Blackwater, has a new project.

By MARK MAZZETTI and EMILY B. HAGER
Published: May 14, 2011

ABU DHABI, United Arab Emirates — ...

Sheik Mohamed bin Zayed al-Nahyan of Abu Dhabi hired Erik Prince to build a fighting force.

The army is based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, but will serve all the emirates.

...

Mr. Prince, who resettled here last year after his security business faced mounting legal problems in the United States, was hired by the crown prince of Abu Dhabi to put together an 800-member battalion of foreign troops for the U.A.E., according to former employees on the project, American officials and corporate documents obtained by The New York Times.

The force is intended to conduct special operations missions inside and outside the country, defend oil pipelines and skyscrapers from terrorist attacks and put down internal revolts, the documents show. Such troops could be deployed if the Emirates faced unrest in their crowded labor camps or were challenged by pro-democracy protests like those sweeping the Arab world this year.

The U.A.E.’s rulers, viewing their own military as inadequate, also hope that the troops could blunt the regional aggression of Iran, the country’s biggest foe, the former employees said. The training camp, located on a sprawling Emirati base called Zayed Military City, is hidden behind concrete walls laced with barbed wire.
...

In outsourcing critical parts of their defense to mercenaries — the soldiers of choice for medieval kings, Italian Renaissance dukes and African dictators — the Emiratis have begun a new era in the boom in wartime contracting that began after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. And by relying on a force largely created by Americans, they have introduced a volatile element in an already combustible region where the United States is widely viewed with suspicion.
...

//

Among many other interesting things from this article: I have seen it reported that the Saudi's are using Colombian mercenaries in the war in Yemen. Perhaps this is where that plan originated and the UAE, in "support" of its larger looming neighbour, handed over the troops for this?
Seems the use of Colombian mercenaries met with mixed/poor results in the initial stages as reported above - which does not bode well for either side fighting in the Yemen.

Some more on the conflict in Yemen:

From the Ron Paul Liberty Report:
Who's Starving Yemen's Children?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PKJYQy4h0U

The US-facilitated Saudi blockade is leading to severe food and water shortages in Yemen. When Iran tried to land a humanitarian cargo plane in Yemen this week, the Saudis blew up the runway so it could not land. What's behind this escalation? Where might it lead?

A comment from a Youtube viewer 2 weeks ago:

oh god. usa uk ships are enforcing the embargo that is starving yemen. saudi warplanes refuelled by USA flew to hudaydah port and smashed the cranes at the port. so unless aid ships have their own cranes, no aid can come into yemen. i Sanaa city, the Oxfam centre with a stock of aid was purposely targetted and bombed by Saudi war planes. now there is a deadly cholera outbreak in Taiz, Aden and other parts of Yemen.

The House of Saud is literally depopulating the middle east of Arabs, to the north through its support of ISIS and to the south through its own continuing assault on Yemen.

If they aren't really crypto-Jews (https://www.google.hu/search?q=house+of+saud+jewish&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&ei=3q4pWM7UCvSv8wfhk6DwCQ) playing their part in the Oded Yinon plan (http://www.globalresearch.ca/greater-israel-the-zionist-plan-for-the-middle-east/5324815), they're sure acting like it.

This attack on a funeral hall Oct 8 which killed hundreds was not the act of ISIS. This was the work of the people behind ISIS, Israel, US & UK. The Saudis are merely there to take the blame.

"Millions face starvation just so a dictator is returned to power."

The author is a young Yemeni housewife with a degree in English residing in central Sana'a. She is an example of the fact that Muslims are our allies in the resistance to the Zionist Occupational Government of the West. The Zionists are behind war, terrorism, ISIS and Islamophobia.

Sanaa -Twenty-two straight months of airstrikes, blockade and the silence of global complicity. This is life in ancient land of the Queen of Sheba, Yemen. There are no flights , no embassies, no commerce, no electricity, no wages and no sign of relief anytime soon. This, in a region submerged by wealth, luxury and decadence which supersedes logic and limits.

http://henrymakow.com/upload_images/mercedes.gif
(A diamond studded (4.8 million USD) Mercedes owned by one Saudi prince is only the 38th in his collection.)

The October 8th airstrike on a funeral hall gathering in Sana'a is a hallmark example of insanity of Saudis led warcrimes on Yemen.

xDEJrNXFAqQ

A hall packed with nearly 3,000 people being viciously struck not once but twice (double tap) by a high flying F-16 fighter jet. The result: hundreds killed and injured in one of the bloodiest and boldest attacks on civilian targets in modern day history. This was not the act of ISIS. This was the work of the people behind ISIS. This was the work of Israel, US and UK. The Saudis are merely there to take the blame. This is why, in June, they were protected (https://theintercept.com/2016/06/09/u-n-chief-admits-he-removed-saudi-arabia-from-child-killer-list-due-to-extortion/)when the UN declared the airstrike killings in Yemen as warcrimes on children.

The axis of evil bailed out their cronies and prolonged the killing and destruction of Yemen.

(Hell on earth. Burned corpse of funeral hall airstrike bombing victim)

Ex-president and Saudi/Western puppet, Hadi, still claims to be president and still is issuing executive orders out of a hotel in Riyadh. He resigned and fled in 2014, but his Zionist masters are godlike. They can rise the dead back to life.

A conspiracy to liquidate most of the paper currency in Yemen was followed by a 'presidential' order In September to move the central bank (http://www.reuters.com/article/us-yemen-cenbank-idUSKCN11O0WB?il=0) from the capital Sana'a to the currently occupied (by British agents UAE) port city of Aden.

This move was deemed catastrophically inhumane by all observers. Since most of Yemenis are dependent on some form of a government salary many are barely coping. Up until now, the central bank in Sana'a has only been able to pay a fraction of overdue salaries. The US/UK backed Saudi/UAE forces control the gas and oil fields as well as the ports, tariffs and boarder checkpoints. Most all federal revenue goes to the Saudi/Hadi camp while the vast population struggles to survive airstrikes, siege and now this economic warfare.

DOUBLE STANDARD
Syria has been destroyed by western backed terror groups just to oust one man. In Yemen it's the exact opposite. Millions face starvation just so a dictator is put back into power. It matters not the ambitions and desire of Millions who took to the streets to voice their approval of their current government and leadership. (https://youtube.com/watch?v=rvVcYINXSQo)

All that matters is the "international community" who still recognizes the traitorous fugitives and unlawful puppet ex-government whom are hiding scattered in Saudi Arabia, Turkey, UAE and Qatar.

The Saudis, though the prime aggressor, has had the least to gain from this disastrous war; if you can call it a war. Since the start of the onslaught in late March of 2015, Saudis have not only managed to nearly bankrupt their economy, but they have also exposed and isolated themselves not just from the Muslim world but from an already restless and impatient global list of nations such as Russia.

In October Saudi government decreased government employee salaries by 20%. (https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2016/sep/26/saudi-arabia-cuts-ministers-pay-by-20)

Economic experts forecasts complete bankruptcy and meltdown of government in less than four years. The kingdom has bitten off more than it can chew. They have financed conflicts all over the Middle East and Northern and central Africa to the tune of billions of dollars. In Yemen, the war has cost the Saudis a mind boggling 800 billion dollars. Low oil prices are not helping either.

Teetering on the brink of not just financial collapse, the Saudis are also on the verge of a civil war (https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/en/politics/2015/01/new-saudi-arabian-power-triangle.amp.html) for control of the throne.

Rumors and predictions has it that king Salman will vacate the throne by March 2017. If so, this would be the the very last days of this British-Wahabi kingdom.

WHAT ZIONIST-CONTROLLED WEST HAS DONE
Here's a sample look at what this Zionist/Western inspired onslaught looks like in numbers. It almost seems miraculous that Yemenis are still even standing up at this point. Amongst the Airstrike targets thus far has been:

5183 business establishments
254 factories
641 foodstuff warehouses
476 food trucks/deliveries
515 markets and shopping centers
294 gas and oil stations
216 gas taker trucks/deliveries
1376 farms/agricultural land
1553 government facilities
719 schools and learning institutions
675 mosques
263 hospitals and healthcare centers (including doctors without boarders)
202 tourist attractions (including UNICEF heritage sites, cities and structures)

http://henrymakow.com/upload_images/MOSQUE.jpg
9th century mosque destroyed saudi-led airstrike on Sanaa

Although nearly obliterated, thanks to the over 300,000 airstrikes and blockade, Yemen still stands to emerge as victor. Not only is the impoverished nation surviving a 20 mega-nation coalition and a silent global complicity but they also managed to light the spark that will rid the world of this short-lived demonic British colony state of 'Saudi Arabia'. Now it's time for its sister state, the Rothschild parasitic entity known as 'Israel' to follow.

----------

Author's Note: It appears Foreign Policy Magazine has other figures as to the true cost of Saudi-led war on Yemen: Try TWO TRILLION and 175 billion and 12 million Dollars! (https://www.al-monitor.com/pulse/en/originals/2015/12/saudi-yemen-security-salman-houthi-gulf.amp.html)

It's 6 billion a month. Multiply this by 22 months.

So the cost of destroying a country and it's poor infrastructure and killing and injuring tens of thousands is costing more than building an entire nation from scratch.

Absolute sign of human decline and end of times.

Here is my current understanding.

The provinces, Najran, Asir, Jizan, were historically a part of Yemen. Houthis are consistently obliterating the Saudi military in these zones, and in the long run the provinces are likely to defect to Yemen. I have not yet seen any reports of the Yemenis expressly targeting civilians at all--the only non-military targets have been some Aramco oil facilities.

A significant part of Saudi royalty (and some other Gulf monarchies) are fleeing their countries in anticipation of power shifts, or fear of assassination. Egypt has decidedly severed its ties from the Saudi machinations. Yet the Saudis (only country named after a family) have increased bonds with Israel (only country named for a long-dead historical kingdom).

The U. S. went quiet after this naval "thing" a couple months ago.

Saudi armies are down in Yemen to die, because they are inferior. If Yemenis advance much farther north, they will be able to target Riyadh and Mecca, which will probably give the Arabs a change of strategy. I honestly don't know of a fair payback for 22 months of F-16 bombing runs since the lives lost cannot be restored. Although the dismantling of the "House of Saud" is probably the consequence. It amazes me that there is some kind of "pipeline" to join Islamic State from France or Detroit, but nothing for the Houthis. As far as I can tell, this movement deserves everything.

Hrm, well, this first article is a bit "fuzzy", but more or less indicates that some of the militias who have been pointlessly defeated in Syria are going to pack up and head to Saudi Arabia (doesn't really say to regroup or attack):

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13951012000722

And perhaps this would be an opportune moment to change battlefields, as in the past week the Saudis are 0-78:

http://en.farsnews.com/newstext.aspx?nn=13951012001382

I...don't think I can come up with any historical precedent where an invader has lost that consistently, including in their own territory.

Here come some further embroilments.

It is perhaps less than coincidental that this situation is a close rerun of the early 1960s. Yemen had been under an Imam since the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire which contained it, there were a few power shifts after his death. Eventually Egypt had a hand in one side, the Saudis in the other. It was pretty much the first instance of the UK starting to rely on retired SAS and privately-contracted mercenaries as their main group, and they were able to use it as a pretext to sell the Saudis an air force. Nasser stepped on his dogs a little bit by reducing Syria to a vassal state, which wound up hampering the pan-Arab position.

At the moment, Turkey has dismissed interest in US air support for their maneuvers towards al Bab, as the US was mostly doing it with lip service:

https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/turkey-dumps-us-air-support-syria-requests-russian-assistance-instead/

While they may be relenting from the "Assad must go" camp:

https://www.almasdarnews.com/article/breaking-turkeys-deputy-prime-minister-hints-change-syria-policy/

Meanwhile, they are somewhat assisting Syria--by transporting al Qaeda elements to Yemen. A different kind of death sentence I suppose. They were flown to Aden, the old British stronghold, but it was no surprise, while the Saudis were getting thrashed again:

It's not clear to me that Egypt and Russia would want to aid the Yemeni govt.
I gather there's an allegation that the current govt in Yemen is a puppet regime,
supported, funded, armed by foreign powers (surprise, surprise... usual story)

My understanding is that the Yemeni govt is pro Saudi Arabia/Israel/USA.
The Houthi rebels are opposed to this govt... (for a multitude of reasons)
.. perhaps Egypt and Russia would have more kinship with the Rebels.

No, no actual Russian commitment to the planes that I know of. Just the request being made.

I believe the pro-Saudi president resigned, and then tried to come back into power. Parts of the army support him, and other parts are on the Houthi side. It's difficult to know much because they do have a media site, Al Masirah, but it is only in Arabic, and google translate butchers it quite severely.

This article states that Egypt has already provided some boats: https://www.alaraby.co.uk/english/news/2016/10/16/yemens-houthi-rebels-receiving-egyptian-military-hardware They aren't getting on with the Saudis very well--they had originally promised to help for a year until around this time, but cut it short and then got shafted by Aramco for some fuel.

Russia is also perhaps leaning towards taking some action in Libya.

Let's see how this works:

Saudi Arabia started physically attacking Yemen in 2015 in order to keep Hadi in power, versus the popular resistance movements. As it turns out, Hadi (https://www.presstv.ir/Detail/2022/04/07/679874/Ex-Yemeni-president-transfers-powers-to-new-leadership-council) has abdicated his power to a council and:

Saudi Arabia welcomed Hadi’s decision, urging the presidential council to start negotiations with Yemen’s popular Ansarullah resistance movement.

The kingdom also said it would arrange $3 billion of support to Yemen’s economy, $2 billion would come from Riyadh and the rest from the UAE, the official Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.

The war has stopped well shy of all of its goals, despite killing tens of thousands of Yemenis and turning entire Yemen into the scene of the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.

A two-month truce is being attempted under those terms. Let's tell ourselves the same story as every day all these years:

Saudis are about the worst military one can find.

Is this the cost to do business in China? I am not sure. But it is not mere words if the guy has relinquished the theoretical office. Maybe some royal person really ate an incoming projectile really fast. The Saudi brain is not considered capable of comment, so, we don't ask about the nothing they like us to know.
