For members of a certain age the original Jaws movie was a very scary cinema
experience. Though it should be said most sharks are harmless to humans and
some species are endangered and the sea is their domain......

I also noticed the other day there were at least a half dozen shark themed
sky - fy and other movies out this year which is a lot for one jounre...
I'l look them up in a bit.

Me too , luckily he was a dive master who dropped beneath
the cage where two other sharks were also attracted to the
bait and did not panic.That 10 secs wait must have seemed
forever for the other crew members.

Good job it was not a tourist in that cage......Wooooooooooooow !!

Even though World War II veteran Lyle Umenhoffer escaped one of the U.S. Navy's
worst bloodbaths — a real-life "Jaws" ­— he kept his sharks tale a secret for years.
In the summer of 1945, Umenhoffer — then a 22-year-old Navy seaman first class
— and his USS Indianapolis shipmates helped carry uranium-235 and other
components to Tinian Island in the Northern Marianas. The parts would go into
the manufacture of the atomic bomb used to kill 135,000 in Hiroshima on Aug. 6.

The cruise into the North Pacific was uneventful, but less than a week after the
USS Indianapolis steamed out of Tinian, trouble struck in the form of a Japanese submarine.
