Russia Today (RT) has announced that National Westminster Bank (NorWest) is closing all RT accounts with them, and that the entire Royal Bank of Scotland Group, of which NatWest is part, would refuse to service RT. The letter from NorWest to RT said that the decision was final and that it is “not prepared to enter into any discussion in relation to it.”

None of the other reports, by RT, India sources or Zerohedge, try such an anti-Russian slant.

UK: RT's UK bank accounts blocked by NatWest

Published on 17 Oct 2016
The UK bank accounts of the Russian television channel RT (formerly Russia Today)
have been blocked, editor-in-chief Margarita Simonyan reported on Monday.
NatWest, the bank that RT had an account with, sent a letter to the broadcaster
noting that the entire Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) group, which NatWest are a
part of, would refuse to serve the news channel. No reason has been given.

RT: NatWest to close Russian channel's UK bank accounts
22 minutes ago
NatWest bank has frozen the accounts of Russia's state-run broadcaster RT, its editor-in-chief says.
Margarita Simonyan tweeted: "They've closed our accounts in Britain. All our accounts. 'The decision
is not subject to review.' Praise be to freedom of speech!"
An MP from Russia's ruling party has said the country's Parliament will "demand an explanation" from the UK.
RT says the bank gave no explanation for its decision.
It said the entire Royal Bank of Scotland Group, of which NatWest is part, was refusing to service RT.
The broadcaster, previously known as Russia Today, says NatWest wrote to its London office saying:
"We have recently undertaken a review of your banking arrangements with us and reached the
conclusion that we will no longer provide these facilities."

Julian Assange apparently has had his internet cut. Not sure if it's related but it is mentioned in one of the videos linked above. He sent out 3 strange tweets that everyone is calling a "Dead Man Switch" which would release massive information if anything were to happen to Julian. Powers making moves to silence media and whistle blowers.... Something big is brewing. Could it be connected with recent Yemen bombings and escalating tension with Russia or perhaps an incoming financial collapse?

RT has received an outpouring of support after NatWest bank’s decision to close the accounts of its British office. Among the messages sent to RT was one from a NatWest client who has decided to take personal retaliation against the bank.
Here’s what the man wrote to RT:
“I have been a NatWest account holder in the UK since 2003, today I just emailed them the following text:
“According to today's news you arbitrarily intend to cancel the bank accounts of RT NEWS, as this is my preferred news source it is my intention to arbitrarily cancel my banking services with you and I sincerely hope that my account cancellation is joined by thousands of other like-minded account holders, I don't suppose you could recommend another banking service could you, perhaps one that sticks to banking and not politics?
“Sincerely, Tony West”
If you share these sentiments or are a NatWest client who has doubts about the bank’s policies following its decision against RT, send us your story at bankxit@rttv.ru.

disconnected from Europe for may reasons with a separate currency as not to affect a devaluation of the euro, the public being lied to on a daily basis through the news outlets .

Oddly, National West (NatWest) disagrees. In a statement from 9 hours ago, NatWest says it has taken no action w.r.t. Russia Today. From 'The Scotsman' (Scotland's national paper) ...
"Claims by Russian broadcaster RT that the Royal Bank of Scotland group’s NatWest arm has frozen its UK bank accounts have been denied by the bank.
RBS said that it had not closed any accounts belonging to RT, formerly known as Russia Today and claimed that a redacted letter from NatWest published on the broadcaster’s website, related to a different company.
It is believed the company involved is a supplier of the firm with no obvious financial links to RT.
RT earlier accused the bank of curbing “freedom of speech” and claimed that the alleged decision could be the beginning of new British sanctions against Russia.
RBS insisted that RT’s bank accounts “remain open”.

Yet despite the obvious evidence, people are still anti Russia. Russia isn't the aggressor. Iran isn't the aggressor, we are. That's the reality. People just cannot see it. It's so obvious. Look how many countries Iran has invaded, look how many countries Russia has invaded. Now look at the dozens of countries we've invaded. Saddam was hanged over WMD he didn't even have. Milosovic committed suicide in his cell during a kangaroo war crimes, and has been recently pardonned. We funded and armed mercinaries all over the middle east for the arab spring, now government weapons are all over the arab world in the hands of ISIS. WE are the problem. Not Russia."

Russia has angrily accused Britain of trampling on freedom of speech after

Russian MPs, the foreign ministry and human rights officials all condemned the
move, and said the UK government was guilty of violating press freedom and of

I am not a fan of RT.
They rather choose to give broadcast time to 'people obviously hating people/mobilizing uninformed masses on dangerous ground'.
The 'freedom of speech', 'their' freedom of speech is having that 'just broadcasted', not commented. No comments on 'thats actually wrong/false (on many levels)', no comments on 'there are counter rallies' (and not to mention, those then have actual facts, besides being not threatening for other people).
I don't want such 'broadcasts' appearing as 'journalism'. They actively are involved to paint a wrong picture. To highlight expressions I personally want to heave dealt with otherwise. The people they favor are covert right wing extremists, neonazis - who themselves attack journalists physically (which interestingly isn't broadcasted). And its from 'my turf' - where fascist dumbs stir not only 'trouble' but destroyed peoples homes, shops, cars. Attacked people violently and set a house on fire at night.
Its one thing to highlight their danger, but not commented broadcasting spitting hate (besides obvious lies and twisted topics) - is giving such people support.
Which is financed by Russia.
So unless people KNOW what else is going on - which RT doesn't show or even mention - easily has others believe 'thats the new normal, this is right'.
The few times (I counted 2 over the last 2 years) they showed something important and on time, later was used to paint a wrong picture again. Taken out of context. So comment would have been useful - because people also already drawn 'RT has it right'. Which isn't the case - how I see it.
So reading now, the letter wasn't directly to RT - its exactly what impression I already got. Stirring people up.
Besides: - there are other banks and since they are not 'UK' but Russia Today UK - they don't need that ONE bank. Not even IF it would be the only bank in the UK.
Also: - a bank has the right to quit a contract, as does the costumer. They didn't even froze the accounts (but have given time to take business elsewhere).
Claiming its restricting freedom of speech when its not even directed at RT directly, given notice AND being just a normal deal (the bank isn't supposed to stick with RT for a lifetime or longer) - its a slap in the face of 'freedom of speech'. (Besides then again personal experience they themselves rather to give time for speeches of KNOWN fascist idealizing individuals)
And since Russia bombs knowingly hospitals and civilians in Syria (proven, and statements debunked as lies) using even banned stuff - its about time someone is talking at least about sanctions.
And since it appears not even connected to RT, RUSSIA today directly - its not even a sanction (or it does not appear as such).
Another factor is Brexit - financial markets WILL shift due to EU law/market and UK's need to negotiate deals. So IF its against Russia, which is indicated its not, at least if the letter was to a not obviously to RT connected business (if THIS even is true, as in the connection brings RT down - which again is also strange btw) - one can speculate UK rather wants deals with EU and their markets than with Russia, Turkey, and/or Hungary (since Orban also is rather highlighted in RT broadcasts).
So IF RT will shut down more - I welcome that. As a point actually for actually freedom of speech as I UNDERSTAND it. Hate speech (which I witnessed personally being broadcasted one-dimensional over and over and leaving violent attacks out of being shown (especially it being JOURNALISTS being attacked - which I am mainly referring to) isn't freedom of speech. They just feel free to express their hate. And its also NOT reported or broadcasted by RT WHEN 'feeling free' isn't freedom of speech, when its against the law, when its prosecuted. Which happens at such rallies.
So RT actually gets paid to highlight hate speech. This isn't journalism for me.
Its wrong on so many levels.
And I wonder what business it actually is to be 'shattered' by a bank notice, strangely if its not even directly addressed at them.
Do they not know about other banks?
And besides this - do they expect I buy their crap? Would they have broadcasted the 'outrage' of a bank if they took their financials elsewhere? Risking the jobs of people working there?
I got my account cancelled, I also took my business elsewhere - as I please.
However its still something. Everybody, even 'mainstream' is drawn in. Bank involved (who actually likes banks, so who thinks twice how ridiculous they even appear regarding AS A BUSINESS), and a bit of Russia - who is treated 'wrongly' by banks.
Does mainstream DRAW attention Russia BOMBS hospitals, civilians since MONTHS, even breaking law regarding what is 'allowed to use when bombing' (wow) - and there now 'shall be some 'sanctions'....
Nah, Russia gets some sympathies - and nothing else happens......... What a twisted, sad world.

When the official narrative is so distorted in the MSM, creating myths about Russian aggression, omitting key facts about the wars, not challenging the corruption & cronyism in the UK, a dissenting voice is ESSENTIAL
Even if it was all wrong, it would be good-because everybody needs a critic from time to time. but in reality is is more balanced often than the BBC. Western news is more controlled than ever right now. That is actually the most frightening thing. People are being herded to disaster by the false narrative they buy into. BUT ITS BIASED - I hear you shout - SO WHAT. Use discernment to sort the facts from the bias. If we relied on Western MSM would be asking how tower 7 fell at free-fall?

I partly agree they certainly have their slant on stories but it certainly gives balance
to western media which is why I go to BBC and RT most days for news. I also look
at a wide range of news outlets from Fox to Press TV and many in between. Its a
bridge between some alternate web sites and mainstream propaganda, though it
does have its own bias's.
As for guests they have some very good contributors that do not get on the
mainstream like Patrick Henningsen 21 century wire ,Ray Mc Govern and many
more experts in their field , bloggers and researchers. They also have some
not so good. I certainly think they have helped open the minds of many in the
west that in the time of the Soviet Union and TASS would have had virtually no
air time and is why TPTB could keep the war meme going. They always need
a enemy or bogey man , fear to control and profit from the general population.
People are seeing through the war on terror and the elites looks like they want
another cold war to boost the mil ind complex's and keep the sacrificial bodies
coming.Which has got a bit off topic but all related imo....LOL

RT is based in the Millbank Tower by the River Thames in London
A British bank has denied reports it closed the UK accounts of RT, Russian state
TV's international channel.NatWest said a letter had been sent to one of RT's
suppliers, not RT itself, and no accounts had been frozen. The Russian embassy
in London has objected to what it called an "openly political decision".
But the UK Treasury said no new sanctions or obligations relating to Russia had
been imposed on British banks since February 2015.The UK joined other EU
states in imposing sanctions on Russia following its annexation of Crimea from
Ukraine in March 2014.On Monday, RT's editor-in-chief, Margarita Simonyan
tweeted that "all" the channel's accounts in Britain had been closed. The TV
station says the supplier is the local production company that, amongst other
things, handles RT staff salaries.

Its difficult to know without more clarification from Natt West whether this has any deeper/sinister
undertones or an admin or policy error ? It does tie into the current situation with other issues.
The Anglo Saxon democracies and others are finding the balance of 'freedoms' and 'authority'
more clouded over the past two decades especially after the defined rules of the cold war.
Which it seems the security apparatus in most countries are trying to justify reasons to exist
and carry out old to new policy agendas . Hence war on terror and other fear control mechanisms....

‘If we put up with this, what’s next?’ – author of petition against closure of RT’s UK bank accounts
By David on 19 October 2016 GMT

‘It’s important to stand up against NatWest’s decision to close RT’s UK bank accounts, said British
journalist Oliver Tickell, who launched a petition protesting the move, while asking “if we put up
with this, then what’s next?”
The journalist pointed out that RT has been “tremendously successful” in providing an alternative
take on events for its UK viewers, who “appreciate the diversity that it adds to otherwise frankly
rather uniformed output, in particular, on television.”
“It has carved out an important role for itself in covering stories that other channels don’t cover
and in covering a lot of stories that they do cover in rather different ways, with different emphasis,”
said Tickell, an author and campaigner who concentrates on health and environmental issues.’

The U.K. prides itself on its past commitment to free expression and press freedom, but as we
found out last year the targeted surveillance of journalists and calls by Britain’s prime minister,
then David Cameron, heavily supported by Home Secretary, now PM Theresa May, to ban secure
messaging indicated a clear shift toward a more much restrictive environment for the press.
Then of course we have the famed raid by GCHQ on the offices of The Guardian over the Edward
Snowden leaks in 2013. Just last year The Guardian published a piece about how the government

organisations.”

‘British spy agencies broke privacy rules by secretly and illegally collecting massive amounts of
UK citizens’ confidential personal information for more than 10 years, top judges have ruled.
Responding to a complaint brought by Privacy International, the Investigatory Powers Tribunal
(IPT) has ruled that the collection of bulk personal data – conducted by GCHQ, MI5 and MI6
between 1998 and 2015 – was unlawful.
It ruled that surveillance of individuals’ phone and web use had been taking place without adequate
safeguards or supervision for more than a decade.’
