Box full of odd illustrations of an event found by the trash bin! 'The Box of Crazy'

The Box of Crazy is getting a lot of Redditors hot and sweaty right now, and if you’re into treasure, aliens, maps and mystery, this has it all waiting for you.
“I was told that you’d like to see this Box of Crazy illustrations” is the title of Redditor TramStopDan’s (http://www.reddit.com/user/TramStopDan) original post.


It links to his imgur post of 102 images. Images of, well, all sorts of crazy, starting with several pages of suspiciously uniform text regarding a possible UFO sighting and the study of it by the “Arial Phenomenon Research Organization (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aerial_Phenomena_Research_Organization)” (note the typo in “Arial”), with particular reference to the STEALTH project.


From the looks of it, TramStopDan became a, imgur member purely in order to post them, as it’s his only album.


That might be your first clue there, conspiracy theorists.


TramStopDan claims a friend found a box containing the images by some trash cans near his house.


The earliest dates TramStopDan can see are from the early 30s and he’s pretty sure they belong to someone called Daniel Christiansen.

There a load of beautiful old maps, all of which contain a single pinhole. TramStopDan says that may be so they could be piled on top of each other for some kind of referencing task.

Redditor Sipues (http://www.reddit.com/user/Sipues) says he’s found Daniel Christiansen, who’s now dead. His take on it:

All great stuff, but is it a little too… neat? Here’s some of the pointers Redditors say highlight the possibility of a hoax:
“The font on the first pages is modern, and does not correspond with the rest of the documents. Given the new font on old or weathered to appear old paper, I’d assume this is a hoax or promotional item. Never enlist a graphic artist to create a “forged” document.”

– Christiasen is Nesa-it-sirhc backward. One Redditor claims they found a geocacher (http://www.geocaching.com/profile/?guid=7eb12379-5bea-4ae5-82d5-2fcc6c6cf249) who goes by that name who lives in North Carolina.
But initials_games (http://www.reddit.com/user/initials_games) summed it best:
That’s a lot of work to go to in order to promote your new movie, Paramount.
If that’s true, then hey, credit where it’s due.
Speaking of which, the post which made the front page of Reddit was a knock-off of 4chan’s knock-off of TramStopDan’s original post.

A box has been found containing detailed drawings of alien beings, an unidentified flying object, and transcripts exploring the link between alien encounters and ancient religions.
A user on the social media platform Imgur posted a series of photos (http://imgur.com/a/uCSg1) showing the contents of an old wooden box, roughly 29 inches by 38 inches, that his friend found in the garbage. The post had more than 250,000 views as of Monday morning, about 20 hours after the user uploaded it. It has not been independently verified.
The musty box contains clues, but also raises many questions—it’s a mystery.
It appears to have belonged to a man named Daniel J. Christainsen who lived in Florida but was a native of the Netherlands. He may have been a WWII veteran—the box contained a blank paper with the Veterans Administration Medical Center header. He may have been an engineer, or at least was technically inclined—the box contained technical drawings of roller bearing designs. His documents suggest he may have had an alien encounter, though the references to a direct experience are vague and open to interpretation.
He writes of “an apparition or the Tampa Bay Obscuration” on July 7, 1977.

He draws alien beings and describes them: “Every one had four faces and every one had four wings.”
One of the faces appears humanoid, while the other three appear animal-like—a cow-like creature and bird-like creature are among them. The humanoid figure has hoofs for feet.
Christiansen recalls biblical references he feels refer to alien encounters. It is unclear whether his drawings relate to his own experience or whether they depict historical accounts. He also references a sighting in Brazil in 1967 by an American tourist.
He writes in reference to the biblical account by Ezekiel: “The fire that had the colour of amber had to await the day when electric lights were available on earth before it would allow a literal interpretation; so would the eyes of the creatures and … the wheels need to await the day of electronics and television before a reasonable interpretation would be possible.
“It would in fact be necessary to await the many technological inventions before interpreting the 2,500 years old experience, which Ezekiel found expedient to call visions.”
The figures with the animal heads recall figures from ancient paintings and sculptures.

In Tibet and some other regions, deities were sometimes depicted with the head of a horse or other animal. Sometimes the animal head was the main head, but sometimes the deity would have multiple heads, one or more of which would be animal heads. The drawings also recall the Greek minotaur (man-bull figure referenced in Greek mythology) and similar figures.
