View Full Version : Our Friend Kerrie Lea is hanging on for dear life: please do help

Dear Friends and Fellow Avalonians,

I am writing in request of support for our friend and fellow Avalon member, Kerrielea (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/member.php?25054-kerrielea]kerrielea). She is a gifted healer with talents that are quite unique and powerful. More than this, I can't emphasize enough how truly loving and giving she is; how she shares her extraordinary abilities freely with others. Kerrie is modest to a fault, but believe me, she has helped many people in big ways, life-changing ways. I am the fortunate recipient of her good works, and my life hasn't been the same since, in the most profound ways. She did this without expectation of payment of any kind, for a greater good. It's my honor to step out now and help her however I can.

Back in 2010, Kerrie was in a serious accident where 75% of her right arm was separated from the joint. After six surgeries to repair and reconnect her arm, she found her body was rejecting the metal implanted. She has intense and constant pain. Her sleep is minimal. She hasn't been able to work or live a normal life since the accident.

And now her liver is shutting down from the rejection of the metal. This is a gravely serious condition. The metal is toxic to her body, and has been poisoning her for six years. She has less than six months to live if something isn't done soon.

Until recently, we didn't know what that 'something' might be. In the past, Kerrie has done extensive research and followed leads, with eventual dead-ends and no hope. But now she has found someone outside the U.S. who will operate to remove the metal from her shoulder and insert a bio-inert carbon fiber implant. Insurance will not pay for this, and no surgeon in the U.S. does carbon fiber shoulder implants.

What she needs is money to travel to the doctor in Israel who (we fervently hope) will save her. And money for the operation. The doctor said, 'Just get here.”

Kerrie estimates she will need $10,000 to $20,000.

Here are Kerrie's words:
----------------------
“In advance, I deeply thank you for your unconditional love and support. If you would be willing to send any amount, it will make a difference. I intend to pay this forward as soon as I regain my health to be of service to others like myself who are in need where current insurance is not helpful. Thank you also for sharing this message with others who may be willing to contribute.”
With Love and Deep Gratitude,
Kerrie
----------------------

It's easy to contribute - Kerrie prefers PayPal. just go to www.PayPal.com and click Send Money - add the email address: iamgrateful2u2@gmail.com

Or you can donate through gofundme.com by clicking https://www.gofundme.com/kerrielea
(there are 3 older donors there from a previous campaign which I wasn't able to delete, just FYI)

Or you are welcome to send a check directly to Kerrie. Please PM me and I'll give you her address.

Kerrie would love to send a snail mail thank you note if you send her your address.

Our heartfelt gratitude for any support you can give to this beautiful soul, a bright light in the world.

Marianne and the Mod Team

P.S. -- Many thanks to RunningDeer (Paula) for providing a thermometer of our fund raising progress, in the next post below.

Have you guys also put this up on change.org and places like that to try and get as much support as possible?

I'm sure there are many people like myself that are very poor, but just remember guys, even 1 or 2 dollars makes a difference collectively if you wish to help. :)

Hello Marianne,
I will gladly donate, but I am afraid it won't be very much. I second what 7alon wrote, that there are many avenues online for raising funds, and he has listed some. Doing a quick google search I found 'giveforward' and 'gofundme'. I am sure I speak for everyone on Avalon, when I wish you and Kerrie the best of luck. Please keep us posted.

Thank you Billy! Even small amounts are warmly welcomed, and we are grateful.
I will check out giveforward. We did look at gofundme, which takes nearly 8% of the money raised, plus a small fee per donation. We wanted to try with PayPal first to see how it goes.
We are going to track donations using a 'thermometer' image so everyone can visualize it.

Thanks 7alon -- we'll look into change.org.

I just looked at it myself, I think I got mixed up, that is a petition site XD. But there are sites that support causes such as fundraising for any issue you can think of. I'll ask my friend and see if they can remember the name.

There was a small $3.20 fee with paypal and a place to send along a message to Kerrielea. It may have been too early for the 'thermometer' or perhaps another link is needed in the OP?

The thermometer isn't connected to PayPal -- we will make an image and change it daily. Since PayPal doesn't serve the same campaign function as the crowdfunding sites, it doesn't have a way to track it, so it's a do-it-yourself image. Hoping I've explained it well enough.

Thank you Paula!

This generous response is so heartening -- thanks to everyone, for donations and well wishes!
It means a lot to see the community response here.

I'll be checking in on this thread of Love as often as I can.

Many thanks.

I have an idea also. People can donate their excess frequent flyer miles to a named person. The person's identifying information would have to be provided. The airlines
to which those miles belong would have to be involved in the flight or the miles must be capable of transfer to another airline. All three sets of information would have to be known to donor and donee I believe. If you can think of a way to set this up, the trip both ways might be secured.

Amor, a wonderful idea! We had thought briefly of that but hadn't put it out to the community yet. And I'm not sure of how it would work, since I've never flown enough to collect FF miles.

Is anyone in the Avalon community familiar with this and could assist us to understand how we can make it work for Kerrie? If we could secure miles for a flight from the U.S. west coast to Tel Aviv, Israel, then the money collected could all go to medical expenses and living expenses for the 8 weeks Kerrie will need to stay there.

Truth be told, the expenses will likely top $20,000. So every bit counts!

Hello, All:

I’d to add my own heartfelt thanks to everyone who’s piled in to help so very swiftly. Paula (RunningDeer) is designing an appeal ‘thermometer’ to show how we’re doing, and Kerrie shared with me some of the personal messages she’s already received from folks, some of whom she doesn’t even know.

I had to explain to her who some of them were, and I was impressed and moved myself. Wow, we have a truly wonderful bunch of people here. As they say: you know who you are. :star:

Here’s a bunch of peripheral information, some of which may be interesting.

Kerrie lives in Oregon, and in her youth used to be a hippy chick (yes, her photo (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/customavatars/avatar25054_1.gif) looks like that), but she also spent quite a few years driving a transcontinental 18-wheeler. (Read that again!) She’s a combination of being as perceptive and sensitive as an angel, and as tough (if need be) as any truck driver. :)

As Marianne intimated in her opening post, Kerrie has remarkable gifts. If she was in good shape, she could probably do what Carol Clarke (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?32136-Carol-Clarke-the-most-consistently-accurate-psychic-I-have-come-across) does, as a profession, and maybe do it even way better. She has the ability of being able to look right into someone's head and see things that even they themselves may not know. She finds this very simple, something she’s always been able to do, from childhood.

So, she does a lot of healing work. She was ‘Laura’, showcased (briefly!) in this Project Avalon newsletter (http://projectavalon.net/Project_Avalon_Newsletter_6_12_May_2015.pdf). At that time, she was unable to continue that role, as she got hit very hard, quite quickly, as a backlash: this happens to people doing good things. (As many of you know, bad things can happen to good people: and very bad things can happen to very good people.)

She came to Ecuador a few months ago, for a dual purpose: she could get excellent alternative health treatment here, at very low cost, and we also spent time doing some planetary healing work together, something we’ve continued over the internet, several times a week, since she returned home in August.

She and I found ourselves staggered at some of what seemed to be taking place. I've only ever worked with one person of this level of ability before, and it’s quite something to behold. The world is changing, timelines are shifting, and people are becoming more and more aware. There are thousands of people doing this, of course — maybe tens of thousands! — but Kerrie is one of the very, very best.

Her entire commitment is about making sure the human race ends up in a good place. (And, this will happen.) She doesn’t talk or write much. She just quietly does stuff that really works. No-one knows, and she is paid nothing, by anyone, for anything.

When she was in Ecuador, I was with her when she visited holistic practitioner Patrick Coady (http://southamericanhealth.com), a most able and gifted man. He reads blood reports like he’s reading someone's whole life. He’s usually positive, cheerful and upbeat, but on this occasion he was grave: he explained to Kerrie that all her systems were failing, and that she might not have that much longer — just months — to hold out. Kerrie already knew, but it was a grim, real-world confirmation.

The problem is the nickel in her shoulder prosthesis, which is a ‘heavy metal’. She’s one of the tiny minority who is highly toxically allergic to it. Her insurance (of course) will do nothing. She is being poisoned to death, each day, ever since her dreadful accident several years back.

The solution is a replacement, carbon fiber shoulder joint… which is bio-inert. So she set out to find one… and came up against a brick wall. No-one made them, even the US specialists in carbon fiber prosthetics. And no-one could suggest, or find, a way through.

Kerrie was despondent, but never gave up. As ‘luck’ would have it, she then stumbled across the one person on Planet Earth who can do the job, with the right materials… a world-class orthopedic surgeon in Israel. “Just get yourself here,” he told her.

I agonized about how to help, because Kerrie didn’t have a penny to her name. And I barely do, either. I still have an irrational inhibition about asking for any kind of help, even on behalf of someone else. (I must work on this! :bigsmile: ) But after talking in depth to a couple of close friends, I put this to the mods team, and they all swung into action. OMG, do it now, they mandated.

Marianne jumped to lead the way, as she had herself been the beneficiary of the most remarkable, magical, complex piece of healing — at ‘Laura’s hands — that I've ever witnessed. I was right there, with Kerrie/Laura, when that was happening, but Kerrie went so rapid-fire fast with it all that afterwards I had to ask her to please write down everything that she’d done, so that I could read it all slowly. :) It really is like that, sometimes.

One of the reasons I felt I had to consult the mods team is that we need to be careful, for obvious reasons, about seeming to showcase and appeal on behalf of certain members who urgently need help. I know of several other Avalon members who quite badly need a hand, one or two of them seriously so… but none of them, as best I know, is up against a ticking clock that may suddenly stop very soon. That really does focus the mind.

It may well be that there are other things we can do to support other members, in time. This does NOT have to be a unique, special instance. Kerrie would be the very first to agree. But it is a kind of pilot project, as it were, though we did do something similar for member Bright Garlick, a couple years ago.

My thanks again to everyone. We already, after less than a day, have nearly half of Kerrie’s plane fare to Israel, which would be, touch wood, in mid-January. Others have asked if there are other ways they could help… the flight, we think, will be on United, so if anyone has a bunch of unwanted United Air Miles, that could be a really valuable way to contribute. Just PM Kerrie at her Avalon username, kerrielea (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/member.php?25054-kerrielea). If anyone's reading this who is not a member (and they surely are), just get in touch via the contact form (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/sendmessage.php), or e-mail myself, bill@projectavalon.net.

One of the mods wrote to the rest of us, an hour or so ago:

I have to say this. I love my team SO much.
And that says it all. We’re all stronger together here, and even though we may be physically separated, none of us are really alone as long as we can stay in close communication.

There but for the Grace of God go we all, as they say, and if we can help Kerrie through this, we may all find ourselves paid back, or paid forward, in unexpected and magical ways that will all unfold naturally and wonderfully in ways we cannot understand, explain, or predict.

Hi, I was wondering if you had tried infra red saunas. Obviously not as a final solution, but they are considered one of the safest and most effective means to detox. They used with hundreds of people who were directly affected by the toxins released during 9/11 to great success. I have MS and my husband made me a DIY one for about $100. Since using it regularly I am finally getting some sensation back in my left hand.

Sending love and trusting that you will get the assistance you need <3

Small donation sent via paypal.

About infra-red saunas, they are great at removing toxins like heavy metals. However, that should be done after the invading metal is removed from your body, otherwise the sauna will pull metal straight from the apparatus inside your body instead of from the vital organs where the metal has accumulated, like your liver. There are other things you can do to remove toxins from your body but removing the invading object must be done first. After that is done, we can resume the discussion on what to do next.

May your surgery go as well as could possibly be expected and best wishes for complete healing.

Much love,

Dennis is correct. The title of this thread should read "Our Friend Kerrie Lea Is Healthy" or "... Is Living"

Well, she's living! :star: But she's very far from 'healthy'. I talk, or text, with Kerrie nearly every day. She's totally stoic and uncomplaining, but tells me, as a plain matter of fact, that she's in constant pain, cannot sleep, it's getting worse every day, and she knows that she's not got that long. That's the reality.

Our challenge is to turn that round, and that's happening right now. (Wow, indeed.) We can change the title easily -- it was a necessary and accurate headline, not Kerrie's call -- and although it's not my call, either, we can easily change it quite soon to something that shows and validates all the wonderful responses :heart:, and the very fast progress in how all this will be handled.

Please check out this thread: Our Friend Kerrie Lea Is Dying (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?94871-Our-Friend-Kerrie-Lea-Is-Dying&p=1118869&viewfull=1#post1118869)
..........Thanks ♡

I'm back in Barbados, and just skyped my husband the details of Kerrielea's case. He is in Costa Rica and is seeing his surgeon on Monday afternoon. This Dr. Castro is a brilliant orthopedic surgeon and traumatologist, and implanted my husband's wrist with two pieces of titanium.
He will mention Kerrielea's case to him, to assess her chances. Costa Rica is a lot nearer to Oregon than Israel and has some great doctors.Today, I believe Kerrie will be checking on whether there's any possibility she could get this done in Costa Rica. That'd be a godsend. (Thank you, Ulli!)

The problem is getting hold of a carbon fiber shoulder, and they're almost as rare as hen's teeth. But if one can somehow be located and imported there, yes, Costa Rica would be a way better solution for a whole host of reasons.

Is this what Kerrie needs? "Use of Carbon-Fiber-Reinforced Composite Implants in Orthopedic Surgery" http://www.healio.com/orthopedics/journals/ortho/2014-12-37-12/%7B1398a9c1-57fe-427e-b758-1c9a14e0acbc%7D/use-of-carbon-fiber-reinforced-composite-implants-in-orthopedic-surgery

Maybe one of the authors of this article would know how to get hold of an implant? I´ll look into it a little more after the weekend.

Kerrie, may I please change the name of the thread? How about, "Our Friend Kerrie Lea Is Living"

Get your passport ready.

:~)

I did not choose this headline. It was a request by others to get peoples attention. And it appears to be working.

My comment is serious (about flipping the projected outcome to positive), yet I know that my suggestion is also ineffective in terms of moving people to make donations to actually help the positive outcome happen. So no, we really shouldn't change the thread title, and I am sure that the loving and compassionate people that are reading this thread understand that my post was about declaring our intent to help you stay alive. :heart:

There's a fascinating story reported in Michael Talbot's classic and inspiring book The Holographic Universe (https://www.scribd.com/document/123105358/The-Holographic-Universe). (Or at least, I could have sworn it was there: I've just spent half an hour hunting for it, but so far haven't located it. Is this The Mandela Effect? :bigsmile: )

I'll summarize this anyway, in my own words. A group of researchers wanted to investigate the truth of accounts of miraculous healings at Lourdes.

They discovered that extraordinary healings did occur... but, in many cases, the healings were received by those praying for a healing for someone else.

Journal of the History of Medicine and Allied Sciences - The Lourdes Medical Cures Revisited (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3854941/)

“The individual who is cured is not the one
who prays for himself but the one who prays for others,..."

RunningDeer thinking out loud (highlighted on chart): Interesting to note is the difference between males and females from Table 1: “Analysis of Patients Allegedly Cured in Lourdes, 1909–14”. In general, receptivity vs. logical processes.

http://avalonlibrary.net/paula/General/male-female.jpg

CONCLUSIONS - snippet

The least that can be stated is that exposures to Lourdes and its representations (Lourdes water, mental images, replicas of the grotto, etc.), in a context of prayer, have induced exceptional, usually instantaneous, symptomatic, and at best physical, cures of widely different diseases. Although what follows is regarded by some as a hackneyed concept, any and all scholars of Lourdes have come to agree with one of two equally acceptable—but seemingly conflicting and irreconcilable—points of view on the core issue: are the Lourdes cures a matter of divine intervention or not? Faith is set against science.

For lay people who take a leap of faith and are ready to believe “what is most contrary to custom and experience,”54 Lourdes is a privileged place of divine action through the Virgin Mary's intercession, and a prominent healing space in a growing pattern of the cult of Mary. The Lourdes cures have now shrunk to a trickle and the Lourdes mystique may have lost some of its momentum. It has been suggested that today's pilgrims as a whole have little in common with nineteenth-century believers who, after a long and feverish wait, “incubation and contagion” (Charcot), were moved with enthusiasm, reverence, and powerful emotions. Years have passed and the sanctuary's followers are not quite the same, but the Lourdes appeal endures. Numerous astounding cures have been attended by hundreds of honorable physicians and thousands of witnesses. These are facts that cannot be ignored. Prayer is the fulcrum of the Lourdes cure, the essential condition for a miracle to occur. “The individual who is cured is not the one who prays for himself but the one who prays for others, a strong form of asceticism and self abnegation … the believer surrenders himself to God and asks for his grace.”55 “Do I believe in miracles?” Jacalyn Duffin, physician and medical historian, asks, “after years of hesitating, now I answer comfortably, ‘Yes, I do.’ It is a historian's belief and it challenges my medical identity.”56...

Other interesting snippets from article (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3854941/):

“The mediated miracles unfolded in the same way as the Lourdes cures: frequent exacerbation of symptoms just before the cure, extraordinary speed of recovery, hunger, and perception of well-being.”

“We also suspect that declaration of miracles by the Catholic Church froze the situation and discouraged further observation and follow-up of the miraculés."

RunningDeer thinking out loud - It’s not in the best interest of the church for folks to discover they are their own caretakers and healers. It’s not magic nor science. It’s who we are but altered to prevent normal heath/healing. Once we learn this and change it up deep within our core, bones, muscles, cellular levels...it’s game over for the controllers.

paragraph continues: "We owe to Mangiapan the only retrospective study of the 1947–76 Lourdes cures.45 For want of an extended follow-up, we looked for survival times. Thirteen patients out of twenty-five (Tables 3 and 4) died nineteen to fifty-seven years after the cure and without relapse of the disease. For nine subjects living in 2008, the time elapsed since the cure was ten to fifty-four years. Considering the lengthy observation periods, it may be claimed that four cases of tuberculosis were actually cured. This series provides three examples of multiple sclerosis with remissions of at least forty-year duration, synonymous with cure; the speed with which the cures occurred is impressive and without known equivalent.46 Two of the most recent cases (No. 23, 25) are related to osteosarcoma and this diagnosis seems beyond dispute. The first of these two cases (MIC, No. 23) epitomizes a Lourdes cure."

A general update: thanks to this wonderful response from the community, Kerrie now has a really great head start on the funds needed. The exact amount isn't known yet, as there are still a lot of variables, and a good surgeon needs to see her in front of him to make all the clinical assessments.

In 24 hours or so, Kerrie may know a lot more about whether she can get this done in Costa Rica rather than Israel. If so, that'd be far better — for a host of reasons, including being cheaper.

is that what she needs 15,000$??? It would help if we knew the real target (maybe she does not know yet, this I understand). It would be a motivator (hopefully not the contrary). 5k gives the plane ticket for Israel and some days in an hospital room. How much is the surgery? Is there ways she can live at places that are less expensive than probably most private hospitals in Israel or Costa Rica?

Limor, how is it organised in Israel? I remember that a simple ear\throat\nose kid surgery was 2k 15 years ago in Istanbul, without any hospital stay and without any special equipment or artificial body part and the doctor doing it for free (a friend of ours) and without the plane ticket. It can get pretty expensive pretty fast. Anyone has any idea of the real target?

I got good news on my own financial side, I will be able to give in a couple of weeks.

I tend to prefer discretion in these matters, but if that is a hindrance to creating a dynamic to get this thing done, then I will own up to being a part of the effort so far, and encourage anyone to do what they can.

Here in France, but hardly anywhere else, ‘non-assistance to a person in danger’ is a criminal offence (https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-assistance_%C3%A0_personne_en_danger). If you know of a danger to someone and can act to help without danger to self or others, then you are required by law to do so, even if it is only calling for help. I don’t know if fund-raising would count anyway, I’m just saying how seriously this kind of life-threatening situation can be viewed with respect to bystanders.

To clarify, the amount is $15,000-$20,000 (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?94871-Our-Friend-Kerrie-Lea-Is-Dying&p=1118869&viewfull=1#post1118869). It was a bit of a challenge with the graphic to represent the whole picture and still show movement.

I wonder what $2,000 ear\throat\nose from fifteen years ago would look like today? Two years ago, I was notified that my health insurance would triple the next quarter. It was a little under $300 (correction $292) a month and a challenge to pay, and jumped to a little over $900 a month. For almost fifty years, I’ve helped the health industry get rich. I cancelled my policy that day, and went without health insurance for six months until medicare kicked in. Even that I only signed up for the free part. (Free because I paid in all these years.)

.
My own sincere thanks to everyone who's been so very generous, also in your very kind thoughts and well-wishes. (And thanks to Paula/RunningDeer) for managing the $$ updates! Actually, not a simple job at all.)

Here's an interim summary update about the progress Kerrie has been making arranging the essential surgery. It's only interim, because it's all still in progress, but the Christmas break has kind of got in the way — as it does. But here's the situation:

The original plan (and apparent only option) was for her to go to Israel.

Then Ulli stepped up (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?p=1119119#post1119119) :heart: , and recommended a surgeon in Costa Rica (Dr Castro) that her doctor husband Luis knows well. Kerrie was able to speak with Dr Castro personally, a few days ago, and was impressed with his understanding and willingness to help. The ball is now in his court about what prosthetic materials he can access to use, and Kerrie's waiting to hear back. :thumbsup:

Meanwhile, the Israeli unit that Kerrie originally found is allied with The Reading Shoulder Unit (http://www.readingshoulderunit.com), in Reading, England. The head of the unit, Professor Levy (http://www.readingshoulderunit.com/the-unit/consultant-surgeons), is Israeli. There's every early indication that they will also be able to help — and for many obvious reasons, the UK is a far easier place to have all this done than Israel.

Very early days yet, of course, but it may well be that any local Avalonians who live nearby may be able to offer a little much-needed logistic help. (Meeting her at the airport, local knowledge, etc etc)

The last bit of encouraging news is that Kerrie has a good friend whose husband is in the airline industry, and it seems as if she can get free flights ('buddy passes') to Costa Rica or London (Reading is a stone's throw, 25 miles, from London's Heathrow Airport). But not to Israel. That alone is worth a significant number of $$, and it may not matter now if there's no free flight to Israel itself.

Kerrie's hoping to learn a great deal more about her options soon after Christmas, and then she'll be able to make the best-informed decision about her optimum chance: costs will definitely have something to do with it, of course.

Please keep the donations coming in, if you possibly can.

We're not there yet (at all) — though Kerrie is very hugely encouraged, and we're close to being able to change the title of the thread to something a lot more positive.

After conferring with Kerrie, we've decided to change the title to something more positive, but which still speaks to Kerrie's dire need here and now.

Our Friend Kerrie Lea is hanging on for dear life: please do help

Once again, so many thanks for your generous sharing, of energy, good will, money, and other resources. It's appreciated more than you know!

My apologies for being absent from the thread ... the day-to-day of family circumstasnces has consumed all my time and energy. Special thanks to Paula/RunningDeer (dear) for keeping track of the total and Meeradas just now for bumping it!

East Sun, that's an encouraging article on Natural News!

At UAB I worked with a forward-thinking doctor involved in research. One day about twelve years ago, he sat down in my office and began telling me that within twenty years (our lifetimes) we would have amazing medical breakthroughs that would change the practice of healthcare. This would include cures then on the horizon, new technology, cell/immunotherapy for cancer, and gene-editing work with multiple applications. These advancements truly are fantastic, and several are coming available soon.

If Kerrie had more time, she might avail herself of these. My prayers are for more time, and more resources for her now.

This is a bump for the thread. I'm offering this little reminder to Avalonians who perhaps planned to help once the holiday rush was over, or may not have seen this thread yet.

Thank you with all my heart.

Hello, Everyone: here's a further update, which is appended to the one quoted above. That one was dated Christmas Eve. After the Holiday Period, Kerrie now has a little more information, with more, we anticipate, coming in very soon.

She's still waiting to hear back from Dr Castro in Costa Rica, but the encouraging news is the interim reply from Professor Levy, at the The Reading Shoulder Unit (http://www.readingshoulderunit.com) near London, England. He indicated that a nickel-free titanium prosthesis was available, which could be specially manufactured, and he would inquire about the cost.

That's a significant piece of information — maybe a life-saver, literally — as Kerrie's nickel allergy (it is super-toxic for her) has been the core of the entire problem.

She had last summer contacted a surgeon in Mexico who told her that even the titanium implants he knew of had trace nickel in them: when he saw Kerrie's blood test report he declined to do the operation, telling her he would just be harming her further. (There's an ethical surgeon for you.) So, nickel-free titanium makes every bit of critical difference.

It's looking now that the only unknown now may be the cost. Kerrie is too sick to travel right now, or to tolerate any surgery of any kind, so under guidance from exceptionally gifted naturopath Patrick Coady (http://southamericanhealth.com) in Ecuador, is bolstering herself up to be able to deal with the impact on her body of what needs to be done. In the meantime, even though she is in very considerable pain and discomfort 24/7 (and I'm not being dramatic here: this is just what's happening), she is continuing to help and support others daily.

I'll say that again. Kerrie's whole mission is to help make the world a better place. (And she's doing that, too. None of this is stopping her.)

She hopes to hear more from Professor Levy very soon. Then, we should have a clear $$ target for the entire project — and maybe also the timing, which will be another very key step forward.

Dear Kerrie Lea,

I wish I'd win the lottery so i could give whatever money you need right now!

I wish I had more money so I could make a substantial donation!

Alas, my wishes are not reflecting my current reality!

What I could manage at this point in time was to make another small donation which was done a few minutes ago.

May you have all you need to make this journey towards your healing very soon.

Hang in there! Stay strong! We're all rooting for you!

How is Kerrie doing? Any decision taken yet? Can she fly?

We do have a few, and it's more good news: Kerrie is now corresponding with Professor Levy (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?94871-Our-Friend-Kerrie-Lea-is-hanging-on-for-dear-life-please-do-help&p=1126834&viewfull=1#post1126834)'s personal secretary, at the Shoulder Unit (http://www.readingshoulderunit.com) in Reading, England. It seems the cost of the operation itself is significantly lower than she'd thought it would be.

She's now waiting to hear about the cost of the specially-made nickel-free prosthesis itself, and the various other hospital costs (which will not be inconsiderable). Then, she'll know precisely how much it will all amount to. Related to that, of course, is when she can book the procedure and get it all done.

Regarding whether 'she can fly' (thanks for asking!) — yes, she can physically get on a plane. But the important issue is whether her body is strong enough to tolerate a major operation. (If it's not, the surgeon would never take the risk of the stress of the operation killing the patient.) So, she's doing a rigorous home-based detox program right now to prepare herself for that, and so far that's working well.

:thumbsup:

Hello, Dear Friends — here's another update on Kerrie's behalf. Everything's looking very promising.

:sun: :flower: :sun:

Summary:

Kerrie's in good ongoing communication now with the specialist Shoulder Unit in Reading, England.
Known costs all seem reasonable and do-able.
A nickel-free prosthesis is available and can be specially manufactured to the exact measurements. (This is the critical driver for the entire thing, that at first seemed to be impossible anywhere in the world.)
Some other costs are still to be established, notably convalescent accommodation and (importantly) good physio. But that can certainly be found and solved.
Timing now looks like it could be that Kerrie will fly to the UK in as soon as a few weeks. She needs to get there first for the scans to be done, and for the exact specs for the special prosthesis to be known. The operation might be a couple of weeks after that.
It seems she can get a 'buddy pass' from an airline-connected friend, to enable her to fly to the UK free of cost.
She would certainly need some on-the-ground logical help (someone to meet her at Heathrow airport, help with luggage, be a bit of a taxi for her (maybe several times) and possibly assist with local knowledge). One or two of you have most kindly already been in touch, and this is very greatly appreciated by her. Kerrie will be in touch privately about this. If anyone else living locally to Reading might be able to assist, please do PM her (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/member.php?25054-kerrielea).

My own comment:

The response here has been wonderful, and almost overwhelming. It does credit to every one of you. This live-saving procedure would not be possible without you. It's all now within reach. It's not known yet exactly how much more is needed, but only maybe a little more, relatively speaking.

The analogy is like someone in the open ocean, on their own, at their very limit, unable to swim for much longer — and then they see the rescue helicopter in the distance. And it really seems to be coming their way.

Well, Folks, we now have the one major update we've been waiting for.

Kerrie has a firm appointment with Professor Levy (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?94871-Our-Friend-Kerrie-Lea-is-hanging-on-for-dear-life-please-do-help&p=1126834&viewfull=1#post1126834), at the specialist Shoulder Unit (http://www.readingshoulderunit.com) in Reading, England, on 1 March. That's 15 days from now.

So, wow, this is really happening. :star:

The function of that appointment is to complete all the real-time scans needed to know exactly what the current damage is in there — which is considerable — and order the nickel-free prosthesis exactly to specification.

Kerrie then has to wait till that's delivered (maybe another week or two), and then he'll operate immediately. She'll be in the hospital for something like 5 days, and after that she'll move out into a residential convalescent facility and have daily physio until she's okay to return home, maybe some 6 weeks after that.

She has to pay all the hospital fees as soon as she arrives. In GB Pounds sterling, that's 3,000 for the operation, and 3,300 for all the other hospital costs. The prosthesis is an unknown at the moment, but may be 1,000—1,500.

So that means, all told, including local accommodation when she's waiting for the operation, the USD amount will come in at around $9,900. (She's been gifted with a free 'buddy pass' flight to get from Oregon to London, so the travel is handled.)

After she leaves the hospital, there's a whole major second stage of the rehab process:

Residential care (because she'll be strapped up tight and will be unable to do a thing), and then
When that's easier, back to local accommodation.
And she'll need physio every day during that time, and also some logistical support... some ferrying will be needed (if she's on her own in local accommodation, both before and after), also for shopping, etc etc.

That second stage is hard to gauge, and can be paid a little later — rather than right up front, which is required by the hospital. All that aftercare could be as much as another $4,500.

Then — she'll be on her way home. :Party:

~~~
I also want to do a little more eulogizing, if I may. (Kerrie will never do this on her own behalf!) She's been working recently with a small number of Avalon members, free of charge, and has helped to release some quite longstanding conditions. One, a short while back, reported that her thrombosis had disappeared, much to the astonishment of her doctor. :) Two others immediately reported significant changes in major situations, directly correlated to the sessions.
Kerrie even did a brief session with myself when I crashed into something that poleaxed me for a day, and she lifted it all off in maybe 5 mins flat. And all this time, she and I have been doing some quite large-scale planetary healing work (she's the primary nose-wiggler, not me) that leaves us sometimes seeing the results in the news the following day — not a joke.
It's sometimes hard to talk about this stuff without sounding ridiculous (or worse!), and although this is kind of off-topic on this thread I just wanted to give an idea, again, of the caliber of selfless being we're supporting here. When she's supporting others, her own situation is just nowhere in her mind. Considering she's in constant pain, night and day, with all systems gradually failing, it's really something that I can't imagine very easily, and certainly never want to experience for myself.
GoFundMe (https://www.gofundme.com/kerrielea) will send out an update in the next 24 hours, and now we do need a final money bomb thing (I think that what it's called in the US! :) ) to make up the rest of what's needed.
Up till now, we were guessing, at both the amount and the timescale — but now we know, and knowing exactly where one stands is ALWAYS a very good thing.
.
Well, Folks, we now have the one major update we've been waiting for.
Kerrie has a firm appointment with Professor Levy (http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?94871-Our-Friend-Kerrie-Lea-is-hanging-on-for-dear-life-please-do-help&p=1126834&viewfull=1#post1126834), at the specialist Shoulder Unit (http://www.readingshoulderunit.com) in Reading, England, on 1 March. That's 15 days from now.
So, wow, this is really happening. :star:
The function of that appointment is to complete all the real-time scans needed to know exactly what the current damage is in there — which is considerable — and order the nickel-free prosthesis exactly to specification.
Kerrie then has to wait till that's delivered (maybe another week or two), and then he'll operate immediately. She'll be in the hospital for something like 5 days, and after that she'll move out into a residential convalescent facility and have daily physio until she's okay to return home, maybe some 6 weeks after that.
She has to pay all the hospital fees as soon as she arrives. In GB Pounds sterling, that's 3,000 for the operation, and 3,300 for all the other hospital costs. The prosthesis is an unknown at the moment, but may be 1,000—1,500.
So that means, all told, including local accommodation when she's waiting for the operation, the USD amount will come in at around $9,900. (She's been gifted with a free 'buddy pass' flight to get from Oregon to London, so the travel is handled.)
After she leaves the hospital, there's a whole major second stage of the rehab process:
Residential care (because she'll be strapped up tight and will be unable to do a thing), and then
When that's easier, back to local accommodation.
And she'll need physio every day during that time, and also some logistical support... some ferrying will be needed (if she's on her own in local accommodation, both before and after), also for shopping, etc etc.
That second stage is hard to gauge, and can be paid a little later — rather than right up front, which is required by the hospital. All that aftercare could be as much as another $4,500.
Then — she'll be on her way home. :Party:
~~~

I also want to do a little more eulogizing, if I may. (Kerrie will never do this on her own behalf!) She's been working recently with a small number of Avalon members, free of charge, and has helped to release some quite longstanding conditions. One, a short while back, reported that her thrombosis had disappeared, much to the astonishment of her doctor. :) Two others immediately reported significant changes in major situations, directly correlated to the sessions.

This is just a short, but very important update.

The manufacturer of the custom prosthesis has informed my surgeon that they need three months for production of this new product. As such, I will be moving my travel dates to London. At this time, I am looking at the end of April to the beginning of May for travel. :facepalm:

I am deeply grateful to all of you for the hope, love, prayers, offers of assistance once I arrive in country and monetary support. :Angel: :heart: :star:

I want all of you to know how grateful and thankful I am for support that you have given me.

This year has presented quite a few roadblocks and challenges. Each of which have been overcome. The health challenges have been overcome with the support from each of you.

As you all know I was planning on having surgery in England earlier this year. The medical staff of the hospital I was working with informed me that it was unlikely I would survive the surgery. This was due to the blood results from my liver & kidneys. After some planning issues that prevented my from returning to my care providers in Ecuador, I decided to stay home and work with my doctor (a naturopath). I am happy to report that my treatments are working. I am taking about 20 different supplements per day and my most recent blood results show improvement. I am not quite ready for surgery yet, but I’m getting there.

I also decided to consult a surgeon in the Eugene, OR area that specializes in nerve damage in the shoulder. If he can provide me a nickle-free prosthesis I will be staying here for the surgery. That will save several thousand dollars in flight, room & board and other costs.

I am horrible at writing these updates. If you have any specific questions PM me. It may take me a day or so to get back with you, but I definitely will.

Peace & Love,

Kerrie

P.S. I do know this is not Wednesday - at least not in the universe I live in, lol. It’s just my insanely busy schedule and my lack of energy. Which is getting better all the time.

Hi All,

So long it has been... .

I’ve thought of writing a hundred updates and they never get written. Finally, I’m getting this one ‘down on paper’.

So, here is all the news you’ve been missing, in a very short form.

After being poked and prodded, more accurately, after blood tests, numerous X-rays, an ultrasound and a CAT scan, my new surgeon here in Eugene, Oregon has determined that my rotator cuff may have too much damage to accept a graf, my pectoral muscle is separating from my collar, the acromion bone is half the width that it should be (it is disintegrating) as is my humerus, and it looks like I have an infection in my shoulder joint. He will be getting a sample which will be cultured over three weeks. He also wants to see what the surface of the prosthesis looks like (how much of it has eroded). So, I am having surgery on 27 July.

This will be the first of two or three before the end of the year.

I’ve also been working with my Naturopath this past five months and I am healthy enough for the surgery. It has been a bit grueling at times, but, I am on the other side of it now.

Thank you all for the support! I have not been able to work and I would not have been able to pay for the treatments without all of you. I face physical therapy for which I do not have enough money to pay for at this time. But we will come to that later.

Please ask me any questions that you may have.

Peace & Love,

Kerrie

Since you haven't been able to work you should qualify for physical therapy through the government sponsored insurance. I know several people that aren't able to work that are receiving insurance, free of charge, including no copayments. One of them is receiving physical therapy as I speak and doesn't have to spend a cent on it, he is even provided free transportation as he is unable to drive a car. I helped him apply and he was on the insurance in less than 15 minutes of a phone conversation, I couldn't believe how easy it was to apply.

I am so sorry for your long suffering. Please make sure they are very diligent in managing the infection. You stated you are taking lots of supplements. I believe that the most important thing you can do to build up your body is to eat foods in their natural state, and lots of it being raw. It's taken me years to really, really understand but food is the best medicine. Summer is the best time to buy local veggies from roadside stands that are usually quite inexpensive.

Kerrie - thinking of you and sending you loving healing energy today and always. You are so important to our beautiful and challenging work here and I'm grateful for the progress you're making in healing. :happythumbsup:
=======
Thanks peterpam for posting your suggestion - I hope that might be workable for her! It would be super if it was!
=======
BTW - I had asked Kerrie privately for more info and she sent me this, and when I asked if it was OK to share, she said yes. She's been quite busy prepping for this surgery - i.e. doing lots of cooking so she has good nutrition during her recovery period. And making sure she has what she needs in her home, so she can be independent as she recovers. She really doesn't have a strong support system locally, and I wish at times I were back in the USA close to her (I'm in Ecuador), so I could pop down to her home and be there when she needs someone to simply be there. I have been so inspired by her attitude and approach to healing herself - there have been times in my life that I needed to shore up and didn't come even close to what she is able to do, in spite of physical limitations and what has to be an emotional drain. So kudos to her and thanks Kerrie for the great example. I sent her a check a while back, and will send more as I'm able.

Here's what she also shared with me: I am on Obamacare for now. I was just approved for it a few months ago. It pays for some of my treatments. It does not cover all of the physical therapy (only 8 visits) and I'll use that up in the first two weeks after this surgery. The same is true for the next two surgeries later this year. It does not cover any of my naturopathic treatments or even my GP as they are not part of the only plan available to me here. As a matter of fact, the surgeon that I am seeing accepted me on a special treatment plan because he does not accept this insurance as a normal course of action.

At this point, I've used all of my donations paying for treatments to heal my body so that I am eligible for surgery. As you may recall, I was refused twice due to my previous physical condition. I see my Naturopath today for presurgery tests and to determine which supplements I can stay on and which I need to stop taking prior to surgery / anesthesia.

As for disability, as I am still legally married I am not eligible for it. When my divorce is final (later this year). I could apply, but it could take up to two years for me to be approved. And by then I will not need it.

Peace & Love, K

DebJoy, Thank you for taking the time to explain. I would like to clarify that filing for disability is not contingent on marital status. Kerrie certainly is disabled.She would receive much better coverage if she were on disability. Her situation is the kind of thing that disability was created for. I am more than sure she has paid into it while working, why not take advantage when she needs it? It is important that she take advantage of programs that she qualifies for. Very, very few people can afford to pay out of pocket for medical treatment in the USA. The system is not set up for it. There is a expedited form of disability related to dire need. Here are the requirements:

Dire Need

If a claimant does not have the resources to get food, medicine, or shelter, the SSA will treat the claim as a critical case.
Types of Dire Need Cases

These types of claims are called “dire need” cases, and you should advise the SSA if you are in need of one of the following.

Food. Tell the SSA immediately if you are without food or cannot afford to get food.

Medical care. Tell the SSA immediately if you do not have access to the medicine or medical care you need. This can be because you don’t have the insurance, money, or other resources to get proper care.

Shelter. Tell the SSA if your home lacks utilities (because of inability to pay the bills), you are homeless, you are facing eviction or foreclosure, or you have reached the limit on how long you can stay in a homeless shelter.

You do not need to provide the SSA with specific evidence that supports your allegation of “dire need.” However, if the SSA discovers evidence that contradicts your claim, it may require that you provide further proof of your situation.
Evidence That Helps Prove a Dire Need Case

The SSA will not immediately label the file of every claimant who alleges financial hardship as a “dire need” case because it would prevent the SSA from being able to help the most serious cases. Therefore, if you request that your claim be treated as a “dire need” case, you should provide the SSA with as much evidence as possible to support your statements. The following are some examples of evidence that may be helpful in a “dire need” case:

notification of immediate eviction from your landlord
notification from your lender that foreclosure is imminent (not just threatened)
a letter from your homeless shelter that states you are no longer eligible for services
a letter from your utility company that states water, electric, or gas services have been discontinued because of overdue bills
evidence that you have lost insurance coverage
pharmacy records that indicate prescription medication costs
copies of medical bills, and
copies of estimated costs for any medical treatment you need.

Be sure to let the SSA when you apply if you are without any of these basic needs. If your situation worsens after you applied for disability, you can go to your local field office to notify the SSA of your situation. If your circumstances improve, the SSA may remove the “dire need” designation on your disability claim.

Hi Aii!

I am just waking up, in a fair amount of pain, and typing one handed, so I'll keep this short.

Thanks for writing and posting the update Deb. I really appreciate it. Maybe she can post a better update about the surgery here later.

Pam, I applied for disability (for the fourth time) six weeks ago. I was denied because too many people scam the system. As long as I am legally married I am not eligable for it.

For now, I am home and resting. Grateful for all your healing energy.

I talked briefly with Kerrie yesterday. This is one determined lady! She's dealing with a lot of pain during the recovery, but I'm amazed and so grateful for how she is so consciously and on purpose with making sure she stays on the healing path. The doctor confirmed that her shoulder damage is more severe than he'd expected, and the biceps muscle is detached too. So it will take another surgery. They are waiting for biopsies and cultures to come back. Answers will be coming in the next 3 weeks or so. So even though she seems to be doing well and in great spirits, I sure get how challenging this is, and how she's stepped up to be very positive and sending that positive energy to her body. Since of course, she is not her body, but the guardian of it. So welcoming all the good and loving thoughts and support. More later as she shares with me how the progress is coming along. I'll be her typing fingers... :clapping:

I wanted to post an update for Kerrie. I talked with her today, and by the way, tomorrow 8/26 is her birthday so this update is a nice birthday present for her. :cheer2:

Finally the results are coming back. :happythumbsup: She is very grateful that there is not an infection, (which had to be cultured for over 3 weeks to find out) so her marching orders are to do 2 more months of physical therapy to strengthen her shoulder area, then the doctor will determine next steps which is probably going to be scheduling another surgery to do a partial shoulder replacement or a cap on the shoulder (a "hemi") versus a complete shoulder replacement which she doesn't want.

So it's looking like things are moving forward well although she is still dealing with the financial burden for all this, as well as the ongoing healing process that takes lot of determination and patience. Simply adjusting medications (which are essential for pain control and being able to sleep well) can be a challenge.

What a wonderful Avalon group here - she expressed so much appreciation and gratitude for all of you who have been continuing to cheer her on and support her in her recovery! Thanks team! :grouphug:

Kerry- Bless your heart. I can only imagine your pain.
Have you tried CBD oil for pain? Are you on pain meds?
I do not know if eating cilantro salads will help enough with the metal poisoning or when the poisoning will stop but I ate these salads ( and yearned for them awhile) when chemtrail spraying was heavy during the early part of 2000's.
I am wondering why the medical system uses metal - like they do in dental work these days. I imagine there are non toxic and very workable materials in this day and age. I just have not heard of any being used.
We all care for you and appreciate your strength. Love.
