Maybe I am indirectly giving an income to someone by sharing this, and also help out the YouTuber.
Here is a video that demonstrates what you make on YouTube from ads, my take on this video is that it appears genuine and that if you have great content to share YouTube can be a source of at least extra income and at best actually make you rich. It has an upside potential beyond a "standard" day job.
Please note that you pay income tax on the returns.

That was why I shared this, hopefully it is the truth. (but it appears to be)
Overall, if you are good at valuing and creating content and then get a good exposure, you are going to make quite a good amount of money. (can be fun too)
If you for instance are able to prove something that many think is very false as truly something very true, that changes the perception of many, then you are basically making lots of money on truth. There is a lot of false stuff out there so that is a great business opportunity... The point I want to make is that you can earn a lot of money while you also go through and drive awakening, these are not mutually exclusive.
Doing this well includes many dimensions, but most important is the content, that will quickly advertise itself.
BUT: The fact that so many try to make money out of YouTube also means there is a flood of content out there that is posted more for the money it is going to bring, rather than the value, like content that nobody really needs. So be focused when you consume content on YouTube, you don't want to feed yourself with crap and there is tons of it out there... Stay focused. Just don't forget there is great content out there too, but you are driving the YouTube consumer car. :muscle:

Very recently google and youtube has been demonetizing an extremely large amount of vides coming from the alternative media..
seems appropriate to state since this site and others of a similar ilk would be considered not appropriate at this time.

In most cases creating good content and having advertising for money is accepted but not for all fields such as paranormal research. We've all heard of clickbait and if you place the idea in a skeptics mind that the reason you are making content is for money it will cause issues down the road. Despite my low economic situation it was one of the primary reasons not to collect ad revenue. The other reason is the ads take away from watching the video.

Wow! I've never seen an example of what someone gets for their web based content. It puts even more of a perspective on why click bait seems more prevalent these days to me. If you have ever been on Yahoo's web site, there is a lot of click bait there. I've started to see other web sites adopt Yahoos business/ web page model. Yahoo will have a 'news' article that peaks some interest and when you click on the article it has very little actual news in it on top of it reading like an average 15 year old wrote the story. I can get more actual news from one post on one thread on Avalon then say 5-10 articles on Yahoo.
I am mystified with myself that I even go back there from time to time except for two reasons: 1) old habits die hard, 2) it's like watching a train wreck in so much as I am fascinated Yahoo is even still happening.

Thats SUPER rare and takes exceptional skill / work (and maybe a bit of luck).
I've put a couple hundred hours into my channel and gotten zero out of it, you have to really be dedicated and build your audience to make any sort of money,, but the audiences ARE out there, if your willing to produce content for free for a year or two.. you can find them.

Personally had to share without a thought of getting monetary in return. Hardly anyone would have believed the eyewitness testimony. And, not that I wanted everyone to accept the testimony on face value it was a way of validating something that was in my mind special. So did get something back... which in ways was worth more than money.

Not much of a business then, is it ;)
Mine is ancillary to my business, I see it as another "advertisement" outlet.. if just 10 people saw my video and decided to go on one of our tours or support our rescue its worth it,,, but a side revenue off videos would be a nice boost as well... I'm just not dedicated enough.

The ex boyfriend of my daughter, a geek, was studying and staying home and was getting harassed by his dad to get a part time job in order to pay for some of his expenses.
At one point, the dad got very angry and threatened him - "if you do not get some money in, you are moving out". His son did apparently nothing. So when the dad got at him again, a few months later, the son showed him how much he had done on youtube. He was making more money than his working dad. So the dad never said anything again and let him be behind his computer. I would not stop bugging him to show me how you can make money - one of the great way is humour, but I am not good at it.

YouTube factors in things like number of subscribers, comments, likes and dislikes, number of hits over time, their advertisers.
SocialBlade.com (http://SocialBlade.com) is a useful tool to check up on your favorite YouTube channel. It records information such as money made per video, estimated monthly and yearly earnings, stats, rank, number of subscribers, views, etc. Some YouTubers have other channels, for example, type Alex Jones (http://socialblade.com/youtube/search/alex%20jones) into their search engine.
Stats from SocialBlade.com (http://SocialBlade.com):
David Icke (http://socialblade.com/youtube/user/davidicke)
most viewed = $616 - $4.6K
highest rated = $1 - $4
most relevant = $48 - $388
latest video = $10 - $77
Alex Jones (http://socialblade.com/youtube/user/thealexjoneschannel)
most viewed = $5.8K - $46.1K
highest rated = $3 - $24
most relevant = $162 - $1.3K
latest video = $5 - $37
Project Camelot i.e., jagbodhi (http://socialblade.com/youtube/user/jagbodhi)
most viewed = $1.1K - $9.1K
highest rated = $14 - $116
most relevant = $74 - $594
latest video = $5 - $43
PewDiePie view rank #1 in games (http://socialblade.com/youtube/user/pewdiepie)

I know a few people who make a living from YouTube videos. Some make a modest living, while others, one in particular, makes a lot of money! These people are mostly performers.
This person I know who makes a lot of money is an actor/comedian. He makes so much money that he has quit working in film and TV where he used to make a modest living. He creates a short comedy (not very funny, in my opinion) sketch anywhere between 2 and 5 minutes, uploads it, and boom! He uploads as many as he creates and they all make money for him. He has been so successful that he has had to hire an assistant just to keep track of which video is making what! He uses facebook to let his friends know that he has just uploaded another video and that brings viewers. How he gets the additional viewers I do not know. He has never disclosed exactly how much money he makes but I do know he clears over $100,000.00 per year and he is his own boss.
If you have anything to say that might be of interest to anyone, you can potentially make a living on YouTube. I have been considering doing this for the past few years as I have a lot of stories to tell. All i need is the courage to begin!
If you have more courage than I have, then good luck! You never know...

Could it be that the ones that make the rEaL cash-o-la on YouTube are either well connected to YT or conform to an agenda that YT is part of?
