I suggest you Google gout and see what the symptoms and treatment might be. Most sites recommend you see a doctor.

About once a year I get a spider bite on one of my feet. The first day is just slight pain but then it swells up really big and is excruciatingly painful. Before I started going to a doctor this could last a couple of weeks before it went away. So I started going to a doctor eventually and they insisted it was gout. I said NO, it's a spider bite. Finally they started giving me prednisone. What a relief! Prednisone brings down even the worst swelling within a day or two and the pain goes away by the next day.

I have actually seen a spider or a bee on a couple of occasions when I've been bit. It seems that I am very allergic to their bites. Even a year ago when I got my most recent spider bite I went to a doctor and had to go through the whole explanation again and insist that it was not gout! So even if a doctor tells you it is gout, it might not be. Maybe you are allergic to some kind of bug or spider that has bitten you. But I would recommend prednisone for any severe swelling with lots of pain. Of course taking prednisone on a regular basis is not great, but I only take it when I get bit and have the severe reaction. Good luck with getting rid of the pain soon! :)

ps: prednisolone does NOT work as well as prednisone, at least for me. I tried it once and it did not work quickly or well.

In the case it is gout ...

"Morin (found in mulberry, figs)

Animal studies have revealed that morin effectively inhibits the uptake of urate and to lower uric acid levels in rats. In-vitro studies have also demonstrated an anti-atherosclerosis potential on the part of morin.

Grape Seed Extract and Resveratrol

Resveratrol has been shown in-vitro to be capable of directly inhibiting xanthine oxidase activity. Polyphenols found in grape seed extract, have been shown, in-vitro, to cause a reduction in xanthine oxidase (XO) and xanthine-induced intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) accumulation. Researchers at the University of Hong Kong have identified ROS as being an important contributing factor in gouty arthritis. In animal models of gout (chickens), grape seed extracts have been shown to be highly effective at reducing serum uric acid levels."

---------------------

"Gout

Gout, also referred to as metabolic arthritis or acute inflammatory monoarthritis, is caused by an abnormal build-up of uric acid in the blood – uric acid being a metabolic by-product of purine metabolism. Purines are natural substances found in many foods, and particularly in high protein foods like organ meats and fish like mackerel and sardines. Excessive blood levels of uric acid then lead to acute inflammation of the joints. ’Classic Gout’ usually targets the joints of the big toe and other joints within the legs and feet and can affect people of all ages. However, another type of gout – called ‘Atypical Gout’ – can affect any joint in either the arms or legs and is observed predominantly in the elderly. Both types of gout are characterized by excruciating pain and swelling. In many typical cases of gout, patients are overweight, predisposed to Type II diabetes and hypertension, and are at a higher risk of cardiovascular disease. Gout is disproportionately found in societies whose diets include large amounts of protein, fat and alcohol. Since a fundamental facet of gout is the metabolism of protein, the areas of kidney, bladder and urinary tract health are primary targets for treatment.

Natural Treatment Options

Mulberry

Mulberry has been used for centuries in Chinese medicine to help reduce the symptoms of gout. Recent research has shown that the key to mulberry’s anti-gout actions may be a unique phytochemical called Morin. Morin is a naturally-occurring flavone found in the twigs of White Mulberry. The precise mechanism of action for morin appears to be two-fold and effectively synergistic. Firstly, it acts on the kidneys to inhibit uric acid reabsorption and thus promote the excretion of uric acid from the body. Secondly, it inhibits the enzyme xanthine oxidase, which is responsible for breakdown of purines into uric acid.

Polyphenols: Grape Seed Extract and Resveratrol

Polyphenols can also play a role in the prevention of kidney stones and help support the urinary system. Resveratrol, an exceptionally potent compound of this class, may inhibit xanthine oxidase activity, while grape seed extract may reduce xanthine oxidase and acts as an antioxidant since oxidative stress is proposed to be involved in gout."

Black Cherry also contains high levels of the some of the same polyphenols.

If it is red and warm to the touch it probably is cellulitis and that require a visit to the Doctor and antibiotic.

In my case, my (doctor diagnosed) Gout is red and warm to the touch, as is the red wine that probably caused it...

Could be cellulitis. Go see a doctor...fast. If it is in your heel area, might be plantar's fasciitis -- not an emergency. Still -- have it checked out! Gout is usually in the toe area.

Don't mess around with sudden apparent infections of unknown cause -- and please keep is updated.

I would think using a poulstice made of pascalite clay/powder and clean water would help for bug bites. Apply, let dry. re-moisten or reapply another round if, needed. You will feel it "pulling" the poison out. Let us know, please how you are doing.

Lots of good advice here as usual. IIRC gout is a build up of crystals, maybe uric acid. Chancapiedra and MethylSulfurMethane can remove crystal buildup. Cayenne may work too, as it can clear blockages fast.

Turmeric may help, and I guess footbaths could work.

A google search for "cured my gout" will bring up successful testimonials.

The Six Doctors technique could work... it's on this board somewhere.

I'm I stupid because I don't tell my parents about this? :( Yes! But I've never told them anything if I have symptoms, only until when it gets worse and they have to take me to doctor.
I did searched my symptoms on GG and read your replies and I'm totally confused because they seem are gout, but the stap infection symptoms are also like mine... (here I have read about gout symptoms http://www.webmd.com/arthritis/ss/slideshow-gout and staph infection ones https://authorityremedies.com/home-remedies-for-staph-infection/ )
But my swelling is not at the joint, it right on the center of my foot.. @@

I was reading the an article about tin foil a night before a gal came into work in excruciating pain with gout. I told her about the article so she tried it. It worked. She was telling everyone. I am the tinfoil hat lady. 😊

The tinfoil treatment sounds great! Definitely worth a try. I tend to experiment with many things way before I consider going to a doctor. My husband and I have taken turmeric every day for many years and as long as it's good quality turmeric it should help most people, unless you have a lot of weird allergies. I also keep an epipen handy in case one of my allergic reactions is too severe. Sometimes I have trouble breathing when I get a bee or wasp sting so epinephrine can come in handy.

Usually gout appears in older people so I think you're a bit young, Jull, to be experiencing gout already....but it could happen. As far as the swelling being in the middle of your foot, that is where a lot of my swelling is also, but it can get all the way up my leg to my knee if I don't get prednisone for a week or more. I hope your doctor figures out what it is and you get some quick relief! :)

Sure; here's my recipe, mostly built with the help of folks on PA - i've seen a significant reduction in arthritis, two nodules on my (guitarist) fingers have disappeared and it really helps with gout:

˝ teaspoon of ginger powder
˝ teaspoon cinnamon powder
pinch of ground black pepper
˝ teaspoon turmeric powder
1 teaspoon coconut oil
1 cup of milk
3 teaspoon honey, or to your own taste

Blend all ingredients together except the honey.
Then heat milk mixture in saucepan with the honey.
Pour into pre-heated cups.

Hope it helps...

If you have cellulitis, you need to see a doc and get on antibiotics-- pronto. It is considered an emergency as it can kill you.

DANGER: Any insect bite where you absolutely do not know the insect or even if you have the dead insect in hand is potentially deadly, because LYME DISEASE is transmitted by ALL KINDS OF INSECTS, NOT JUST THE REPORTED DEER TICK. This disease infects, goes under cover in the body (it is a speirokeet (?) which hides in the body then silently infects everywhere, mimicking many other diseases. First, go to your emergency medical center and they will give you a very powerful ANTIBIOTIC. Take all of it. For those who did not do this, in "Miracles from the Vault" by Jenny Thompson from Health Science Institute, Maryland, page 396, a writeup is offered AS WELL AS A CURE IN PILL FORM FROM A PLANT OF PERU: SAMENTO Obtainable from VITAMIN RESEARCH PRODUCTS, Tel: (800) 877-2447, www.vrp.com. One bottle of Samento costs $44.95.

Lyme Disease does not always show the bull's eye red spot around the bite. It seldom does and people are not alerted to take action, suffering years of consequences.

I was recently bitten, while sleeping, in the middle of my back and discovered a huge swelling which was red. Off to the Emergency Center I went and received the strongest Antibiotic I have ever taken. It did it's work.

Regarding GOUT, simply adding too much seasoning to your food can cause gout and skin rashes. Use no seasoning and/or greatly reduced seasoning and flush your kidneys with much water. Also, eating things high in Uric Acid will produce GOUT. Avoid softdrinks which pull calcium out of all the right places and puts it in all the wrong places.

SAVE ABOVE INFORMATION RE SAMENTO FROM PERU FOR THOSE WHO MAY NEED IT.

If it is in the centre of the foot, ie the ball of the foot, it might be a Morton's Neuroma. This is extremely painful and can be difficult to walk on. The pain is a burning sensation.

Dr. Berg suggests finding the exact same spot on the opposite foot and massaging it. The massage could hurt a little or a lot if massage is too vigorous. Massage until pain is reduced.

A Morton's Neuroma is the result of a damaged nerve. I have one on my left foot and I know that the massage works.
