I did some searching for the film you mentioned.
I can find no 1978 film called 'Sasquatch' listed on IMDB. (www.imdb.com)
Do you perhaps mean "Sasquatch : The Legend of Bigfoot (1976)" ?
Or... is it another film ?

I have a magnet cover for it on my fridge door as we speak (it came with the dvd I purchased many years ago). Funny, I can still remember seeing the TV advertisement for this movie when it was released in the 70's when I was a child, as I've long been fascinated by bigfoot/yeti/sasquatch. Anyways, in this movie they tell the Roosevelt story, and it's been retold several times thereafter.
