Why I moved here in 1979. We are on the Olympic Peninsula across the straits in the Salish Sea in Washington state.

Taken yesterday by local photographer Jay R. Cline.

From the natural hook on north side of harbor. Looking south into the Olympic National Park.

A wonderful book set in beautiful Washington state is 'the boys in the boat' about the university of washington rowing team that won gold in hitler's 1936 olympics. The mountains are incredible too.

Very nice, yes indeedy. I lived in Sequim from 1972 to 1975 and it was such a great place to live. I actually built a small cabin out in Blyn up on the Chicken coop road and that was a real great time in my life after the Vietnam experience. When I got married I moved back up to Arlington on the east side of the Sound and spent another 8 years there. Wow living in Port Angeles today has to be wonderful. I remember going to the Steam Baths when they were there. Someone told me that they got taken down. Have a very nice life there and do enjoy the Olympics.

Yes indeed...it is beautiful here. I moved here in 1979 from California and haven't looked back.

Lost N Found.....I know right where Chicken Coop road is. I have a friend who is a tribal carver that lives up there on Craig road. The Jamestown Sklallam tribe is in Blyn. They have a beautiful tribal center and a wonderful casino. You probably wouldn't recognize Sequim today....retirees and big box stores. The natural Olympic hot springs are still there up Boulder creek off the Elwha river. They are still in their natural state. There was a place in Agnew that had steam baths and deprivation tanks, but they closed up in the 80's. Sequim valley is saturated with houses and causing a problem with water from the Dungeness River. Oh Well...progress it seems.

Take care and be well...

Washington State is truly a beautiful place. I've worked in the woods in your neighborhood, live in S. Cascades near Mt Rainier. Nice photo looking south. I'm glad the Elwha is heading back to its original state. Cheers, crazy times ahead helps us get in touch with our mother earth.

In 2007 a friend flew me out to be with her in Bellingham & took me on a "tour" & out to Skagit Valley. The tall trees & the coastline are simply amazing!! :clapping:
The San Juan Islands as well! Even got to see Mt. Baker(I believe) on a clear day...this picture remains in my mind to this day! Wonderful for you, Jackson, that you live in such a beautiful environment!! :flower:

Wow!! I am your neighbor. I probably live 15-20 miles from you in Sequim. I have to admit, we live in one of the most beautiful places on earth and I am grateful for it.

Nice pic of the Olympics - thanks for the reminder of their beauty. I logged in today expecting deep discussions on esoteric topics and was delightfully surprised to find your thread. IBM moved me from Los Angeles to Seattle in '98 and I lived in the Emerald City until May of '16. One of my favorite things to do was kayaking Lake Washington or various spots along Puget Sound, along with hiking in the Olympics or the Cascades and taking the long walk out the Dungeness Spit to the lighthouse. My wife and I even considered moving from Issaquah to Sequim but wanderlust inspired us to fly away to Ecuador. There are so many places in the world to have one's adventure -- whether that be the Olympics or the Andes! I'm happy to hear you found your spot of joy on this paradise called Earth. All the best to you.

Hey Barnythez, Cortez is only 6 hours from me maybe less if I get into warp speed up across the northern part of Arizona and it is very beautiful up there. I was born in Grand Junction so Colorado is my home state. I see that you more than likely enjoy the earth up there.

Okay, here is a place that one of you Olympic inhabitants can identify. Mind you this was taken around 1973. You can tell me what it looks like now. I lived at the head of this for awhile. Rented an old two story Victorian for 15 dollars a month. Could walk to the beach and remember listening to the waves breaking on the beach at night. Such sweet times when life was so much more relaxed.
