ElfeMya and me went to the Kyffhäuser Monument in Germany on a secret Mission that is not to be disclosed at this very Moment ;););)
But being at this Monument that was build 1890 on the Ruins of an old Castle we discovered what looks like 7 Alienheads in stone above the sculpture of the mythical King Barbarossa.

Fascinating photos. I am especially fascinated by King B. Look closely at his posture. His left hand and how it is glutching and clawing as if to be taking something with great feeling. His right hand is on his sword. War etc. the array of the alien looking heads around him and the background give me a sense of a portal. They are becoming him and he becoming them. To and fro in spacetime.
That, or maybe I should not have had that last glass of wine.

With all the searching we do,it's rare to find new pictures like these of old things..
Great find and thank you!you can see their "fingers" under the heads.
Kinda like gargoyle-ish....

They don't look like fingers to me, more like decorative grooves, and the "aliens" look more like snake heads to me, especially considering the other full body snake sculptures.
Interesting though!

Don't you find it a bit odd that the actual heads on the actual snake carvings look nothing at all like the "alien" heads? If they were all "snakes" I would expect that the heads would look similar ... They look different enough to reflect they were likely intended to depict different things. The "alien" heads look reptilian ... a bit like this Summerian statue ...

Could be. I guess the best way to find out would be to research that king more, and whoever created the sculptures.

It is a monument built over the ruins of a medieval castle: More info here from wikipedia:
After the death of William I (Wilhelm I.), first German Emperor in 1888, numerous memorials were erected in his honour all over the German Empire. The Kyffhäuser Monument was initially proposed by the 19th century Deutscher Kriegerbund (German War Veterans Federation), which under the name Kyffhäuserbund (Kyffhäuser Federation) took over its maintenance after 1900. Architect Bruno Schmitz drew up plans referring to the tradition of massive monuments like the Bavarian Walhalla memorial, the Hermannsdenkmal in the Teutoburg Forest, or the Niederwalddenkmal near Rüdesheim.
The monument was built atop the ruins of the medieval Imperial castle of Kyffhausen, a German Baron. Stylistically, it recalls the castles and fortresses of the Hohenstaufen era in Germany in the 12th and 13th centuries. In the beginning period of Wilhelminism, it was intended to suggest that the Prussia-dominated German Empire founded in 1871 was the legitimate successor to the medieval Holy Roman Empire. It also signifies the national theme of decline and rebirth.
Depiction of Frederick Barbarossa
The monument features a 6.5-metre-tall (21 ft) sandstone figure of the Hohenstaufen emperor Frederick Barbarossa ("The Red-Bearded") by Nikolaus Geiger (1849–1897). Referring to the king in the mountain legend of Barbarossa, which held that the emperor was sleeping under the Kyffhäuser Mountain and someday would rise again when Germany needed his leadership, the sculpture appears to just have awakened. Above him stands an 11-metre-tall (36 ft) copper equestrian statue of Emperor William I, designed by sculptor Emil Hundrieser (1846–1911) in a Neo-baroque style. This composition expresses the monument's theme: That William I brought to fruition the unification of the German nation that had been so long desired since Barbarossa's time.
Towering over the monument is a 57-metre (187 ft) tower topped by a huge imperial crown. A 247-step stairway leads to the top of the tower, offering a panoramic view over the Kyffhäuser range to the Harz mountains in the north and down to the Thuringian Forest in the south. An adjacent building features exhibits depicting medieval Kyffhausen Castle and the Barbarossa legend.
Here is info on Barbarossa himself (a bit crudely written):
Amazing, heart-warming stories about the triumph of the human sprit through the medium of homemade artillery are cool and all, but every once in a while you need to sit down and sink your teeth into a straight-up, no-bull**** medieval ass-annihilator who responded to dissenters with a crushing mace-wound to the balls, clawed together an empire by punching people in half with a steel-plated gauntlet, and enjoyed drinking lager amid giant steaming piles of broke-to-**** corpses. Frederick Barbarossa is one of those men.
Barbarossa was one of the most stone-cold ****-wreckers of the 12th century, which is saying something because (as you all know) the 12th century was a pretty prime time in history for stone-cold ****-wreckers. He was born in the year 1122 to a family that claimed lineage to fellow-badass Charlemagne, and was intent on upholding the legacy of endless beatings and military ball-crushings initiated by their prestigious forefather. Fredericks' father was the Duke of Swabia, which is a weird name for a Duchy, and his mother was the daughter of a guy named Henry the Black, who I know very little about, though he doesn't sound like a super-friendly, totally-easy-going kind of person. Freddy grew up learning all the hardcore **** German royalty taught their kids in the Dark Ages, a curriculum that mostly featured people getting beat about the head and legs with inflexible wooden rods or tearing wild beasts apart with their hands or teeth. In order to further assert his manliness over the less-testosterone-y denizens of the Fatherland, Frederick one day decided to grow one of the most righteous beards ever recorded. This face-rug was so epic that it actually became part of his name – Barbarossa is just the Italian way of saying "Red Beard", which would be a totally sweet name for a Caribbean pirate or a plunder-seeking Viking warlord. Turns out it fit Frederick just fine in his role as the future iron-fisted totalitarian ruler of Central Europe. Despite already having a reputation for toughness, he made a name for himself in a live-fire exercise at the age of 25, when he traveled to the Holy Land and fought in the Second Crusade in a place of honor alongside the German king. The Second Crusade ended up being basically a huge cluster**** of misery that resulted in what can perhaps be most eloquently described as OMG EPIC FAIL LOL, but in his role as a relatively-non-influential battlefield commander Barbarossa cleaved so many warriors to pieces and performed so well that nobody really blamed him for Christianity's poor showing in the campaign.

The alien heads look like Grays without their outer lens. The serpents imply a connection to reptilians.

I looked carefully at what he was clutching in his hands. It looks like crosses. About the heads, one on the far left looks human. The others look as though they are either greys or cat faces OR is it I am missing my lost cat.

This is an incredible monument/site.
Snakes, Lions, Griffins, Aztec's, Flying Human heads with snakes etc
I would love to explore it.
Those cave and thrown images, incredible.
Now some of the carvings and a few other areas look newer/younger, mainly the Aztec styled columns, repairs?
Any really old detail images of this monument, even if black and white?
The carving of king Barbarossa it's self doesn't quite look right, mainly his shoulders and his seating area. looks a bit like it's been added to fill an opening/entrance? Probably totally wrong with that, just a feeling and observation.
But maybe that seated statue of the King came from an older/other part of these ruins?

It´s all been build around 1890. The Collums are under the Arches, thats why they are still so prestine. Not much damage from the weather on them, they have a Kind of Archroof over them. The whole Area was a big Castle before, some ruins are still there. See the first Pictures in the thread. I will soon post some strange Artefacts that where found in these ruins ;).

Totally agree about the spot, Sunny side up. We went there on the middle of the afternoon , wind was blowing the snow everywhere, it gave the whole place an even stronger mystical aspect.
The statue of Barbarossa is at the bottom of the monument on the outside and not directly accessible however Usn and I both felt that the way he was shown was not crying power rather something else. There is an access inside the monument from the back, with stairs leading up the tower. The view is impressive and allows one to capture all the surrounding hills and ruins.
I found the museum located next to the visitors coffee at the back and I could not enter the room. Uzn later told me about the bones...
Also what about the length of the teeth of the man head ? Vampire style !!!
