One of the first Things Donald Trump did this Monday was to sign a decree that makes sure the USA is exiting the TPP (Trans Pacific Partnership). ;)
Thats really good News. We Europeans will not be forced to eat Monsanto Poison.

Hopefully this will set the tone for all the agreements to be killed.

Like the one EU signed with Canada some time ago. (forgot its name)

Trump cancelled TPP (Trans-Pacific Partnership), not TTIP (Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership). The TPP doesn't regulate European trade. The EU and national governments already gave Monsanto permission to sell a great variety of products in Europe. Consumers are never forced to buy any groceries they don't want to buy.

Monsanto has some products they may sell in the EU;
Following the European Commission’s approval Monsanto’s GMO soybeans are now authorized to be used both to feed animals and in human food, but not for planting in the EU. The authorization is now valid for 10 years but the EU warned that “any products produced from these GMOs will be subject to the EU’s strict labeling and traceability rules.” Many EU countries use an opt-out clausule and do not use any GMO crops.

CETA is the free trade agreement between EU and Canada and still has to be signed.

TTIP is far from being agreed upon and will probably never get approval from EU memberstates.

Trump executive order pulls out of TPP trade deal

From the section US & Canada

President Donald Trump has fulfilled a campaign pledge by signing an executive
order to withdraw from the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP).The trade deal, a
linchpin of ex-President Barack Obama's Asia policy, was signed by 12 nations.
"Great thing for the American worker what we just did," said Mr Trump as he
dumped the pact with a stroke of a pen.He also cut funding for international groups
that provide abortions, and froze hiring of some federal workers.

I don't expect necessarily everything from this president to be good, but for an early shot the first few days in office, that's pretty impressive.

Bad news for us Canadians. If I am not mistaken, we did sign the agreement. Which means that the Chinese will dump all their crap that was planned for the US on us, Canadian (mostly their very toxic food)

"Thats really good News. We Europeans will not be forced to eat Monsanto Poison."

There were no European countries involved with the TPP. It was for Pacific rim countries.

What you are referring, too, I think, is the TTIP, which IS a trade deal that involves the US and Europe, and is still pending. So don't breathe easily just yet.

Canada, on the other hand, HAS signed a trade agreement (last fall) with the EU, called CETA.

Fortunately for we Canadians, you are mistaken  - Trudeau is still only considering the deal.

Consumers are never forced to buy any groceries they don't want to buy.

Thank God for that, but if you saw how bad it's gotten in the US you'd think twice about your philosophy on that one.

They should at least inform the public that they're feeding us genetically modified frankenfoods, but they're averse to even doing that much. There was a brief legal victory here because of the state of Vermont requiring labeling, but then the federal congress squashed that during Hussein Obama's lame-duck session. Now you don't even know what you're eating again.

Hard to pick what to buy when they don't even tell you what it is.

And even when they tell you on the labeling, you can't trust that half the time either.

The whole system is a mess and hopefully we will start cleaning ALL of it up now.

Just look out for products carrying manganese, which causes aggression, violence, linked to crime such as assault, robbery, and serial killings. Dick Gregory said it's in chemtrails.

Just look out for products carrying manganese, which causes aggression, violence, linked to crime such as assault, robbery, and serial killings. Dick Gregory said it's in chemtrails.

It depends on dose, as with most things that one might eat.

Manganese is an essential mineral. The recommended dose is 1 to 2 mg per day, depending on age, gender, weight and such, less for small children. Consuming just a few times that can develop toxicity symptoms over time. Breathing manganese dust is more dangerous, as it goes to the brain before the body has much chance to filter it.

Copper, zinc, iron, selenium and manganese are all essential heavy metals, of which you need some, but not too much.

With the US pulling out TTP will fall apart, don't worry ;)

That's a hard one to wrap your head around for some, especially since we grew up in the black and white world of "banning every thing "bad" completely" and "bad" was an arbitrary label.

Not to go off topic. I have to completely agree with PAUL on the Manganese necessity.. Without it energy utilization is incomplete. Without it one will be having a hard time staying strong.. or efficiently utilizing food.

It also acts as a co-enzyme to assist metabolic activity in the human body. Apart from these, there are other health benefits of manganese including the formation of connective tissues, absorption of calcium, proper functioning of the thyroid gland and sex hormones, regulation of blood sugar level, and metabolism of fats and carbohydrates.

Two days ago I realized that by living on Dr. Berg's diet, I can mostly get by on organic spinach, kale, chard, and eggs with some sprouts that I grow in my kitchen. Add a bit of organic butter, coconut oil, and flax oil to the mix, and I am never hungry. A lot of this I can produce in my garden. And with chickens now being allowed in many town gardens, if one can control their feed intake, maybe even grow organic corn for their scratch, it might be close to possible to cut many ties with grocery stores. Even if one has to purchase the above list of items, it should be fairly easy to avoid products from China and Monsanto. Plus, it is very healthy.

Speaking of chickens (and pigs) -- I am vegetarian so this doesn't really affect me; they are being shipped to China to be processed for food consumption. It is my understanding that nothing needs to be mentioned on labels suggesting that the meat was prepared in China if the animal is a product of Canada or U.S.A.

you CAN feed chickens corn, but they much prefer bugs etc..

I have about 40 chickens, never fed them a day in their lives; I have a lot less bugs around the house though :)

NAFTA's Being Renegotiated -- But In Whose Interests?
Newsletter from Citizens Trade Campaign

People Over Profits
President Trump reiterated his intention to renegotiate the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) this week, and already, big corporations are calling it an opportunity to further rewrite the rules in their own narrow interests — padding their pockets to the detriment of working families, the environment and public health just like in the initial NAFTA negotiation.

President Trump’s test on trade was never simply withdrawing from an already-defunct TPP and opening NAFTA for renegotiation; it’s whether he puts working families, healthy communities and the environment ahead of corporate profits in trade policymaking.

If corporate elites are allowed to dictate how NAFTA is renegotiated, the agreement could actually become even more damaging for working people and the environment in the three countries. Here are a few examples:

Absent high labor and environmental standards, new rules about the sourcing of parts in products could result in the further offshoring of jobs and lowering of wages throughout North America.
Consumers’ access to affordable generic medications could be further restricted if pharmaceutical firms are able to insert the outrageous protections they achieved in the TPP into a new North American deal, which is their publicly stated intent.
Wall Street banks, insurance companies and hedge funds could be further deregulated and food safety inspections could be further limited if the relevant NAFTA chapters are expended.
And communities’ ability to tackle the challenge of climate change could be further handcuffed by certain energy sector rules.
TAKE ACTION: Demand that the interests of working people — not corporate elites — dictate the future of U.S. trade policy. Tell the President and Congress we need trade policies that put human needs over corporate greed.
http://org.salsalabs.com/o/1034/p/dia/action3/common/public/?action_KEY=20941

Before he even took office, our coalition wrote to President Trump demanding real transparency in NAFTA's renegotiation, so as to prevent the rigged, corporate-dominated process that created NAFTA in the first place from delivering yet another rigged, corporate-dominated pact.

We also clarified what changes in a NAFTA replacement agreement would be essential in order to create good-paying jobs, eliminate threats to our communities and otherwise benefit the majority in the U.S., Mexico and Canada.

We know that the trade debate isn’t about the United States versus the rest of the world, but rather multinational corporations versus the rest of us. We will continue to fight for trade policies that respect workers’ rights across the globe, commit to climate justice and otherwise promote human needs over corporate greed.

Please let the President and Congress know you’re following this issue closely and that you won’t be distracted by false solutions, half-measures or scapegoating. Please write them now.

Many thanks,

PS — Thank you again for all your work to defeat the TPP corporate power grab. Ever since TPP negotiations concluded in 2015, Congress never had the votes needed to approve it due to the loud and united opposition of millions of people. The same broad public demand will be needed to transform our trade policy today.
