Hello Everyone:
It's interesting how friends are kicked to the side. If it wasn't for the mexican people there would be no fresh fruit, vegetables and other labor jobs filled in the usa. We have the same problem in Canada. Our former immigration minister who is gone like the doodoo bird messed immigration up. He messed up the foreign workers program and caused Canada to no have enough people to take the cheaper paying jobs. The former immigration minister was jason kenney.

A former Mexican congressman and founding member of the Mexico based think tank; the Mexican Council on Foreign Relations, is warning Canada that while Trump may look on Canada favourably now, it won't last.

"It's just a matter of time before this administration turns its eyes towards Canada. [Trump] will find some excuse to turn on Canada," Agustin Barrios Gomez said Wednesday in an interview on CBC News Network's Power & Politics.

Barrios Gomez made his comments the same day President Donald Trump moved on his campaign promise to build a wall along the U.S., Mexico border. Trump signed executive orders to jump-start construction of a border wall and block federal grants to immigrant-protecting "sanctuary cities."

Sanctuary cities are jurisdictions in the U.S. that refuse to use municipal funds to enforce federal immigration laws, essentially allowing illegal immigrants to remain there even though they are not supposed to be in the country.

"As a Mexican, I think this is a horrible symbol of ignorance," Barrios Gomez told host Rosemary Barton, adding that it was "zero likely" that Mexico would pay for the wall or that it would factor into NAFTA renegotiations.

Time for Trudeau to 'take principled stand'

When it comes to those talks on reworking NAFTA, Barrios Gomez said Canada should not cut Mexico loose to strike its own trade deal, but rather both nations must present a united front to the Trump administration.

"I don't think appeasement is the way to go [for Canada]," he said, calling it "the Neville Chamberlain approach" in reference to the British prime minister's appeasement policy towards Hitler's Germany.

"I think it would be a grave mistake if Canada did not act on principle, because when you sacrifice your principles for short-term gain, you end up losing both," said Barrios Gomez.

"Now is the time for Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to take a principled stand," he added. "I do not think he needs to be confrontational, but he needs to be very clear about what Canadian values are, and how they align with Mexican values.

"This is a threat to peace and prosperity in North America, just so we understand."

Don't meet Trump, Peña Nieto urged

Mexico's president Enrique Peña Nieto is currently still scheduled to meet with Trump next week in Washington. Some media reports have suggested that visit may be cancelled by Peña Nieto now that Trump has made his wall announcement.

Barrios Gomez said his group has been one of the voices calling for the Mexican president to cancel the meeting.

"We've been saying to President Peña Nieto that under these circumstances, Mexico cannot negotiate under threat," he said.

"Our relationship [with the United States] has been based on the idea that we're friends and allies, so if we're no longer going to be friends, we can no longer be allies."

Personally I won't buy anything from Mexico. Just me.

An example why:

http://www.scidev.net/global/gm/news/mexico-confirms-gm-maize-contamination.html

I don't like Genetically Modified Foods (GMO's) -

The Mexican government has confirmed earlier reports that transgenic maize is growing within the country’s borders and has apparently contaminated wild varieties, despite a national ban on the cultivation of genetically modified (GM) crops.

A government-commissioned study has shown that as many as 95 per cent of maize fields in the Mexican states of Oaxaca and Pueblo contain evidence of GM ‘contamination’— the highest level yet recorded.

The announcement — made yesterday (18 April) at the biodiversity convention meeting at the Hague, the Netherlands — is the latest twist in a heated scientific and political row over whether or not GM maize is contaminating wild strains in Mexico, the genetic home of maize.

Fecal contamination of foods - http://www.foodsafetynews.com/2015/07/citing-fecal-contamination-fda-issues-import-alert-for-some-mexican-cilantro/ (recent contamination)

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued an Import Alert on Tuesday about cilantro from the state of Puebla, Mexico, due to concerns about fecal contamination which investigators reportedly found in fields and in cleaning and processing facilities in that area.

The alert affects cilantro being imported to the United States between April 1-Aug. 31, 2015, with the agency’s action linked to annually recurring outbreaks of cyclosporiasis.

According to FDA, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and state public health officials have identified annually recurring outbreaks (in 2012, 2013, and 2014) of cyclosporiasis in the U.S. associated with fresh cilantro from the state of Puebla.

CDC has reported that, as of last August, 304 people were sickened in the 2014 outbreak. About 210 people in Texas have reportedly been sickened so far this year. In 2013, a cyclosporiasis outbreak linked to imported salad mix and fresh cilantro sickened 631 people in 25 states.

I won't buy from China either - http://www.care2.com/greenliving/contaminated-produce-you-should-avoid-this-season.html

The California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR) recently completed its annual analysis of the pesticide residue found on a wide variety of fruits and vegetables sold in that state. Most of the food it tested had pesticide residue levels that were legal or below what is recommended by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

However, 12 foods had illegal amounts of pesticide residue. In other words, the amount of pesticide residue remaining on the produce exceeded EPA’s standards for health and safety. The contaminated foods are being produced in China, Mexico... Here they are by country:

MEXICO

Cactus pads (nopales) and cactus fruit
Limes
Papaya
Summer squash
Tomatillo
Chili peppers
Tomatoes
Chayote

CHINA
Ginger

I personally haven't seen any issue with produce from Canada - if anything Canada is an excellent partner with the US, and I would assume Trump would increase trade. (I think that the Keystone XL apparently is going over well in Canada's Alberta region. We'll see on that one..)

No question a lot of US veggies are imported from Mexico. I just won't buy it, I don't trust the farming methods, harvesting and risk of contamination. The GMO issue worries me that stuff getting into Tacos for instance... Or maybe Chipotle ended up with contaminated tomatoes or Cilantro.. leading to a massive issue of food borne illnesses... I won't risk it.. That's just me..

What are the odds this happens?

less than 1%

What are the odds that a "piece" written above and quoted in the OP is known by the very writer and "source" as propaganda - written all and only to put fear into the hearts and minds of those who are informationally challenged?

more than 99%

I did not know that Canadian values desired their country to be an overt one party state* where 50% of the citizenry are stuck in an economic condition below the poverty line all and only so an elite joined by and protected by corrupt officials in government, law enforcement and the military can continue their reality as one of the worlds top three "narco-states. (http://www.thegooddrugsguide.com/blog/0754/7-countries-where-drug-lords-lord-it-over/)"

This is the primary fundamental reality that is Mexico today.

I did not know that Canada aligned with those same values.
