Government proposals will devastate World Heritage Site

help make them do a respectful non damaging job or just leave the Stonehenge site alone!

They are rushing through a plan to dig a 2.9km tunnel under Stonehenge, the site is over 5km across?

It will break the site.

In my view, this could just be a scam/excuse for them to dig deep under Stonehenge, for their own reasons?

From an email sent to me:

Dear Friends,

Thanks to each supporter of our petition against the 2.9km tunnel across Stonehenge World Heritage Site which is nudging 25,000 signatures. What is more, our influence is spreading. That’s the good news.

You might have heard the bad news: our worst fears have come to pass and the Government is consulting on a short tunnel, massive portals and new approach roads across the ancient WHS landscape. Worse still, is that this is the only option on offer. The consultation, now under way, is being pushed through with indecent haste, closing on 5 March.

Please would you write and object to Highways England's consultation team? We have prepared a response that you can edit in your own words or language here.

Could you also help us by spreading the word and distribute our campaign leaflets? You can order leaflets by emailing stand.up.for.stonehenge@gmail.com with your address. You can also reply to this message.

This is not the last you will hear from us, but working together we are well equipped to stop Government from bulldozing its way across our country’s unique heritage.

With best wishes,

The Stonehenge Alliance campaigners
