James Ehrlich, founder of ReGen Villages, commissioned Danish architectural firm EFFEKT to envision a future where self-sustaining communities could grow their own food and produce their own energy. ReGen Villages are planned off-grid communities that address issues ranging from climate change to food security through sustainable design. They plan to start building these utopian communities this summer.

Excellent concepts, thoroughly implemented.
With a lifetime experience in the construction game,
my one reservation would revolve around the apparent
frailty of most elements.
This with consideration of the multitude senarios where
predicted 'earth changes' (even relatively mild),
would render these dwellings to scrap.
Not that I am a prepper to the nth degree -
I just have solid 'built to last' construction methods ingrained.
As to cost - these dwellings would not come cheap.
Where I am, there are forward thinking communties with similar goals.
I have coined a term for most with this mindset - yippies (yuppie hippies)
The 'tree changers' who move out from the city with ability to continue the
lucrative career from afar via conectivity.
Heaps of coin to throw at these designer concepts.
Fair play to them - just a far cry from the dump in Bangladesh:)
