Its composition was found to be composed of 77% oxygen [...] this artifact is always found in soil layers dating to at least 12000 BC. (http://solarey.net/sky-blue-stone-of-sierra-leone-africa)

The only place there was a piece known to exist publicly was at Erich Von Daniken’s museum, the Mystery Park, in Interlaken, Switzerland. Jared Collins contacted the Museum with a letter of request in an attempt to buy a very small cutaway piece from one of their 2 large stones. The museum gave no reply (http://www.mysterious-skystone.com/?p=4)

One particular posting from an Italian laboratory showed 2 graphs purporting the composition of the elemental composition of Sky Stone (http://www.the-open-mind.com/the-sky-stone)

I was reading something earlier about scientific evidence for an impact event around 12,000 BC. Maybe of that nature.

It reminds me of Lapis Lazuli.

Very interesting. Silicon carbide is another material not found naturally here on Earth, but was first discovered on a meteorite. It was then synthesized and is now widely used as an abrasive, commonly known as carborundum.

:clapping:

Yeah! First proven reverse-engineered extraterrestrial technology!

Beautiful stone! I'm sure it's an optical illusion ... but I see a face in it.

An interesting artefact with a very beautiful colour. It says in the article actually that further testing found the oxygen content to be a lower than first thought: "The plasma spectrometry analysis reduced the oxygen level to 50/100 or 55/100 at most, which apparently is normal in any rock."

As for the colour: "Finally, researchers were able to detect an organic compound that was unknown to science. The Sky Stone does in fact have a non-mineral element in its composition but it does not reveal much since it is unknown."

This is makes it pretty unique, and a mystery for sure, and one warranting further investigation.

What annoys me the most with stories like this is that the names of the "scientists" and "researchers" are never disclosed nor the name of the research facility. With stories like this I tend to regard them as modern fairytales.

I found most of that info in the OP links and a little research on my own (2 minutes of googling).

Angelo Pitoni is a geologist with the UN's FAO (Food and Agriculture Organization) and is an "expert" in lapis lazuli - likely deemed by other geologists as not authentic because of his institute of employment. He is also a writer and and explorer.

From wikipedia:
https://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=it&u=https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angelo_Pitoni&prev=search

Angelo Pythons was a geologist for the FAO , an amateur botanist and agronomist, discoverer of mines emeralds , expert lapis lazuli . Before being geologist Pythons was gold medal of the resistance.

He was a friend of Don Saltini Zeno , the founder of Nomadelfia , decorated with the Silver Star American , secret agent to 20 years, explorer and adventurer in the Amazon jungles to 23.

Among his discoveries are the Sky Stone, the Nomoli and the Lady of Mali. The Lady of Mali is located in West Africa in Guinea on a high spur of rock 1,500 meters overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. The figure was considered by scholars to the effect of wind erosion, but Pythons hypothesized be a sculpture made from 20,000 to 35,000 years ago. The Lady is a woman with hat and looking down. 150 meters high, if it were made today would represent a colossal work. The natives tell the legend of a woman who was turned into stone for killing her husband.

Another discovery of the mineral is attributed to artist and geologist Anna Grayson (BSc in geology) at University of St Andrews, as mentioned in the OP:

There's not a whole lot on these two strictly as "geologists". But with the way the internet works these days additional research isn't hard to come by.
