Whenever there are books on shelves or stacked up behind the speaker, as in this video, I find myself reading or trying to read the titles. I then sometimes make judgments about whether I think the speaker knows anything about and believes what he or she is saying based upon the books they have apparently read. Especially with speakers with whom I have less familiarity. One problem with this is that the books can be props to lend credibility to the speaker on the subject at hand when in fact the speaker has not read the books and may not believe in the subject. I am not saying that this former Canadian politician is insincere, just making an observation.

I personally think Paul Hellyer speaks the truth or at the very least, his truth. He was in politics for a lengthy period of time and held key positions that would allow for some interesting observations and insights.

What is said is more than believable to me and was two years ago. I truly believed at that time we had a couple months yet here we are.

Paul Hellyer was a familiar name around our house as a kid. He pushed for a bilingual military -- obviously a good idea in Canada. The other thing he did, which I didn't understand the significance of, as a child was unite the Canadian Army, Air Force and Navy, under the umbrella, 'armed forces.' He understood, obviously that without unity there can be a breakdown in communications and unnecessary competition.

He was impressed with Corso's book, 'The Day after Roswell,' because he understood the institutional structure of the military and clandestine agencies AND human nature. Corso's book described an American military that had technology they didn't want the CIA to get a look at, as they figured the CIA was very compromised. So, they kept the alien tech under their purview, parcelling it out to the defence industry, thinking it would be safer to handle it this way.

This made sense to him and is, to my way of thinking, the most credible part of Corso's story. I look forward to watching the link. Thanks. He has an amazing mind for a ninety three year old!!

Maybe i will go back and give it all a listen but I had to turn it off. While he gets the broad strokes, he got too many fine details wrong to warrant much more investment on my part. Please alert if there is something actually new worth watching this and wading through the distortions.

For example, PNAC was not part of the pentagon but rather a private think tank which happened to be made of up people who had and would be in the pentagon. Feith, Pearl, Wolfowitz, Cheney, Rumsfeld. So he was really wrong on that account.

Yes, this is quibbling about details, but details matter and can shoot your credibility when they pile up. At that point, I couldnt really take much of what he was saying seriously as I was questioning his ability to give me precision.
