Hi all-

I've started to develop some rather thick varicose veins on my right leg in the last 2 yrs. (thank God they're painless but nevertheless there)- has anyone on this forum had the same problem/found alternative cures to anything other than surgery?-

the only thing I ever come up with is smearing this/that salve on your leg (variants of the marigold flower?)- it hasn't worked (gosh!)-

anyone have any other ideas/clues/info?- if so please inform- would be greatly appreciated-

be well all!-

Larry

My mom has varicose veins and the only natural remedy which has helped her is the application of a paste made with rose water and comfrey root powder. If you can't find comfrey already powdered, putting it in the blender works well. Make a paste thick enough so that it won't run and put it on gauze. Apply it to affected area preferably twice a day for 30 minutes or once a day for one hour. It's a bit of an inconvenience if you're very busy but it has helped her. Also, increasing vitamin C intake.

I do believe there is a laser treatment as well.

"I do believe there is a laser treatment as well"-

I'm more than aware of this-

it't what I'm trying to avoid because it demands a full anesthetic; a former co-worker of mine had varicose veins removed (laser treatment) and it took the doctors a long time to wake her up from the anesthetic after the operation- she almost died due to the anasthetic-

I had the same problem on my left leg, it being genetically my mother's weaker body constitution. Being a Naturopath by training, I realized that a lack of collagen synthesis was at the heart of the matter -- just as most heart artery problems originate from the same limitation. The solution was to eat about a dozen red grapes, cherries, or other fresh berries daily for their natural source of Vitamin C.... which is NOT the ascorbic acid Vitamin C you can buy in stores. It takes a good three months or more to see results, but positive results are inevitable. The varicosity will not completely disappear for years, but will gradually diminish to being no longer noticeable. Download my free book, The Pathway To Health from my website <www.kitcain.com> and do a search in the book for the words "Vitamin C" to fully understand the carefully sequestered secret of true vitamin C. My understanding is that most heart disease is also related to a lifelong lack of true vitamin C. I refer to it as "sub-clinical scurvy".

Much appreciation, Kit. To save steps, here are a couple of links. The Pathway to Health (http://www.kitcain.com/FreeDownloads/ThePathwayToHealth.pdf) & Kit Cain's main page (http://www.kitcain.com/MainPage.html).

Hi Larry and the group. I do have varicose veins in the leg which I inherited from mother. What I have noticed which helps a lot is a 632-635 nanometer diode laser pointer, less than 5 milliwatts output power administered a couple times a day, plus an application of magnesium chloride spray.

I've also tried magnesium bicarbonate spray (there is a thread about that in alternative medicine), but for topical application I have found the magnesium chloride is better (I think Paul mentions using magnesium chloride spray for topical pain reduction). In the application of magnesium chloride or magnesium bicarbonate (original non-diluted form as shown on the various forum post recipes ), I have noticed pain reduction and reduction in swelling (irritation) in the veins.

It's the best solution I have found without surgery. Hardly any cost what-so-ever, the laser diode pen is like <30$ US with a 5 milliwatt output. The magnesium chloride and / or magnesium bicarbonate is less than 50 cents a month for the concentrate.

Quitch grass plus turmeric plus lemon works wonder for many people I have known who has problem with veins, includes arthritis and HBP. save my life once maybe two.

boil or juice quitch grass and turmeric and add lemon. I normally sweeten it with natural sugar.

Arrowroot for symptom relief. Collinsonia root for reduction in the vessels and increase health of same. Horse Chestnut is great. Horse Chestnut, Butcher's Broom, and Rutin healed my hemorrhoids when nothing else worked for many years. They are gone and have not come back. Hemorrhoids are nothing but vessel issues, as are varicose veins.

anesthetic for laser work?

uhh... I've never gotten anesthetic for my tatoos, or lazer hair removal... it doesn't "require" anesthetic; just ask for a local.. lidocaine should suffice.

Laser pointer (http://www.roithner-laser.com/laser_pointers_635.html)

This is just a very low powered version of what "laser treatment" is at the doc's office... you could easily do this with out any drugs at all, it's not THAT painful.

Hi Larry - the first source is me, since I have researched using pointed <5milliwatt (less than) output laser pen light, which has an analgesic effect. We have threads on PA discussing Magnesium salts for pain relief. Magnesium chloride appears to be the best sprayed on the area needing pain relief. I've personally seen skin lesions reduced and skin heal fast with the magnesium bicarbonate salt.

Doing an internet search for keywords: using diode lasers for varicose veins
brings up numerous articles for laser removal, laser treatment, reports and studies

635 nanometer lasers have been used in a "light" form of auricular medicine, and for triggering acupuncture points: use these keywords for search -> using 635 nm laser for acupuncture stimulation

If you enter these keywords adding in "varicose veins", that brings up articles specifically about that wavelength diode laser pen:
using 635 nm laser for acupuncture stimulation "varicose veins"

Hope that helps.

I like specifically the 635 nm laser and mine is adjustable point, so I can focus it to the smallest "spot" possible based on the diode array geometry.

PS - I've also liked Conk's suggestion of Horse Chestnut and Butcher's Broom - http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?98271-varicose-veins-are-there-any-alternatives-to-surgery&p=1159666&viewfull=1#post1159666 I have noticed that it is important to give the body a rest after a week of using that combination, as for me it is hard on the rest of the body (don't know why, especially the intestinal tract). And then I would restart every other day.

Doing an internet search on the <5 milliwatt laser pen for 635 nanometers red wavelength, this appears - https://www.laserglow.com/GLI# list price 29$

My personal version has an adjustable focus optic that minimized the spot size.
