I remember when I first stumbled upon the "That Poppy" Project last year. Amazing how many views some of her videos are now enjoying since that time (some of them in the millions). Those YouTube vignettes are really interesting, and perhaps serve as an art installation that mirrors the unintended cultural consequences of contemporary pop culture and social media. You may also enjoy the work of Poppy's collaborator, Titanic Sinclair. The general ideas underpinning Poppy's vids are clearly discernible in his videos as well.

Prior to his "That Poppy" project, Titanic Sinclair worked with Mars Argo, again creating similarly themed videos.

If you don't have either, your actual understanding is deep, profound, perceptive and accurate... even if you don't actually know it at the level of your waking state, 5% conscious mind. Kudos

I always enjoy Nick Nocturnes take on internet curiosities and oddities. There are a whole bunch of interesting ARG (alternate reality games) and webseries that he investigates, analyses and critiques, with the "That Poppy" project being one of them.

His treatment of the NOC+10 (Naval Operating Concept 2010) mystery is probably one of my favourites, as it's steeped in very sophisticated encryptions and codes that take you on an engrossing code-cracking adventure.

Here's the original NOC+10 video.

I wish Onyxknight and Omnisense had a little webseries out there. :cheer2:

Just having watched a couple of poppy's vids on this thread, it sounds like complete deadpan. Sarcasm is laced throughout. Kind of funny. Kind of mockery of modern internet norms. I dont want to watch much more, but its a bit of a laugh.

Yeah, the whole thing is definitely pitched at a youth demographic which may relate to the presented concepts in a wholly unique way (hence the increasing number of views seen over time). It is, however, interesting to observe that such cultural artefacts are beginning to emerge in the first place...that the technology-driven social media platforms and their associated nuances (which inform this youth culture context) are being critiqued in such novel ways.
