Olympic great Michael Phelps races a 'great white shark' on Sunday as part of .
The shark was in-fact a computer simulation rather than a actual great white
but its swim speed was calculated using data collected from the real thing.
Phelps finished the 100m course in 38 seconds, two second slower than the 'shark'

i'm a diver and I had shark encouters. I never ever had any problems with them.
It's all exagerated. There are more deaths related to Bull sharks, then to the great white.

The shark just looked curious to me.

From the diver's perspective it maybe seemed like he nearly got eaten but I didn't perceive that intent from the footage.

I've encountered sharks at such close range off Key West and on the great barrier reef but never had the feeling they were looking at me as their next meal.

Sharks have been massacred unfairly as a result of the Jaws films. Such a shame!!!

My brother won't go past ankle deep water here on the East Coast. Most winters his family vacations in Hawaii. A couple of years ago, his fears were reinforced when shark footage was reported on the local news where they stayed.

I live on the Space Coast, which is Central Florida's east coast. Just north of us is Volusia County (Daytona Beach area). I believe that area is known as shark bite capital of the world. Besides the sharks, there are all sorts of non-toxic and toxic jelly fish. So, I usually just stay on the sand.:bigsmile:

The attacks on the southeast coast are nearly all related to Bullsharks. You can't trust a bull Shark they nearly all the time will go for you. these are the only one who also swimm up sweet water. they breed in sweetwater and they have been found 2000 miles from the ocean in a river.
