I was looking at reports and articles about Glaucoma because Bill Ryan's dog, Mara is suffering from that condition at the moment. See this post where Bill explains about Mara's condition.
I came across information about DMSO after reading RunningDeer's post here on the Unexplained Dizziness thread that Bill began fairly recently.
I have now found an interesting video by Yummy Doctor: DMSO for Eyes: Glaucoma, Cataracts, Strain, Vision, Retinitis and the Organ Responsible for Eye Care HERE. It contains some very helpful information on eye health and what may be helpful to improve and prevent many issues people and animals have with their eyes.

I have just started reading the book of Amanda Volmer on DMSO weirdly enough. She does explain that animals can be very sensitive to it. She makes it very clear that it needs to be very diluted in the eye. If anyone wants specific info I can pull it from the book. I keep a bottle of high quality DMSO in a glass container. The stuff is powerful and I would be very cautious and do my research before using it, particularly cataracts. She does state it can treat conditions in the eye of animals but it's extremely dilute.
I have diluted mine and I use it for inflammation and it can be amazing but some have sensitivities to it.

Some people can be allergic to DMSO so check it out before any use.For example take it in small quantities and see what happens and be careful if there is any negative reactions. But thank you very much for the information I was looking for info about this stuff

That's funny, because I remember my dad making hand lotion with DMSO in it. He took the juice of a poppy and made hand lotion out of it. Once he had those little jars full of cream, he gave one to my wife's mother. She had arthritis in her hands.. after she applied the cream, she no longer had it, and never had it since. I don't know... but that's hella weird to me! ...
Edit: That's because my grandfather had severe arthritis in his hands and in his old age before he died, he had crumpled up hands, couldn't use them. My dad figured out a way to fight that so he wouldnt get it before he died. He never had arthritis in his hands -

We used to make DMSO at the supplement company I worked for - well not make it but put it into capsules for oral consumption. It was one of those more fringe supplements the company no longer produces. The main application we sold it for was heavy metal chelation, but it also chelates drugs and other toxins. It has a variety of uses.

DMSO for hair loss, you say eh? I recently took some AHCC (a specific mushroom extract complex) that was left over from when I bought it for my dad when he was battling cancer - at the time he was taking it, his hair started to regrow. I had about 20 capsules leftover (the stuff is crazy expensive), and I just finished the last one. There was definitely a regrowth of lost hair, but it came in light and soft. I will have to wait and see if it continues to grow or if its just going to fall out, now that I stopped taking it. I can't afford to buy more right now, unfortunately, as I have food and shelter to worry about first. The regrowth was noticeable within about a week after starting it as I could feel stubble on my head. Thickened my facial hair up too.
Edit: Looking at may avatar pic, I have to say it definitely grew back a reasonable amount of hair. I was taking 500mg / day.
I might have to check out DMSO as well. Thanks for the tip Mike!

I made up my own DMSO eye drops with distilled water. I apply two drops of the solution per eye once or twice a day. It does sting as Amandha Vollmer points out. It's been about two months. I've worn glasses for distance since 1970's. It's hard to say if things have changed significantly. I did drive without my glasses a couple of time last week around town.
I drink a small glass of distilled water and 1/2t DMSO on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.

That's remarkable! 1 week? I've never heard of that stuff but now I may have to try it. Thanks for the heads up. I have the DMSO but haven't started yet. Not sure which I'll try first. Hmmm..
Anyway, we'll have to compare notes moving forward:) It's funny because I've tried a million hair remedies and they've all failed. And I vowed to stop wasting time and money and anything else....and here I am again, ready to do just that lol

The really important thing to remember is that if you apply it you really need to make sure that the area you are applying it to is clean and doesn't have any chemicals (that can be from things like lotions or other topical medications or pollution) on the area you are applying it to as it will promote absorption of it. So really clean the area before using it.
Also, I am a bit concerned some of it being sold in plastic containers as I wonder if it doesn't pull some of what is in the plastic of the jar through the skin as it is a excellent carrier to promote absorption of other things. Maybe they have some sort of plastic that doesn't do that but I would purchase in a glass container. I think as we come to realize that we need to really take responsibility for our own health and many here have already been doing that, Paula comes to mind :sun: it is good to have a bottle of it in your medical kit.!!
Anu, your father is a wise man. The DMSO for the inflammation and the poppy for pain. Very interesting. I have mixed it with an organic coconut oil which is another hugely beneficial tool for health but that would be going off topic so I won't go into that here.

I have decided to ask a friend to buy the DMSO in the USA (it's either not available or from unreliable sources here in India) who can bring it when he gets here in January. I hope it will help control the cataract that is slowly developing in one eye (I also have a high dioptre, short sight) and perhaps dissolve it over time. Does Vollmer's book recommend a concentration (20% or 40%) and dosage for cataract control? Thanks

This is the information on “Eye Health”. It includes an account of a woman in her sixties with glaucoma. She used 20% DMSO with Vitamin C: pages 68 & pages 69-70.

Dear Friends — anyone who may know more about DMSO than I do, which may be a lot of people!
I asked the vet about DMSO for Mara's critical new eye problem. He's a truly good man, and he looked it up it on the net — but probably in Spanish. He said that from what he could see, it was NOT recommended for dogs' eye issues.
But he asked me to please send him anything I knew of that seemed to counter that. For anyone reading this who knows where to look, could you possibly check out dogs+DMSO+glaucoma?
I'll do some digging myself, of course, but maybe some readers are way ahead of me with all this before I even start.

Homeopathy For Glaucoma In Dogs
There are many homeopathic remedies that can also help with your dog’s glaucoma.
Aconitum Napellus 30c – Give during the early stages to help relieve any distress.
Apis Mellificum 6c – Give this remedy to reduce the swelling.
Colocynthis 6c – Give this remedy to relieve any pain.
Phosphorus 200c – Give this remedy if the eyes are cloudy, vision seems blurry and eyes are tired.
Belladonna 200c – Give this remedy if there’s a sudden increase in dimness of vision, eyes appear red or if there’s pain in the eyes and head. Nausea and vomiting may also be present.
How To Give Remedies To Dogs With Glaucoma
Put 3 pellets in a small, clean glass dropper bottle with spring or filtered water (don’t touch the pellets). Shake it well or slap it against the palm of your hand 15-20 times.
Use a dropper to place some of the remedy on your dog’s gums. Try not to let the dropper touch his mouth. If it does, sterilize it before putting it back in the bottle so you don’t contaminate your liquid.
Homeopathy doesn’t work by bodyweight – the actual amount isn’t important. As long as some of the remedy gets into your dog’s mouth, he’s good. Prepared homeopathic remedies will keep on your counter or in your cabinet for two or three days.

I noticed there were no glaucoma remedies on earth clinic for dogs so thought I would post my experience with my dog. She had an eye removed last year due to glaucoma and is currently having issues with the second eye. She is on the usual medications... Xalatan, Cosopt and Predneferin. However she still has pressure spikes every now and then that cause her to go temporarily blind. When this happens I give her oral glycerin. This was suggested by the eye specialist she is seeing. He said that in emergencies when the pressure spikes and the eye goes really cloudy to give her 10mls of oral glycerin.
Glycerin is amazing. Within about an hour or so, she has her sight back. My dog is an English Cocker Spaniel. I measure out 10mls and just pour it into a bowl. She licks it up as it has a sweet taste.
The second remedy I use is Vitamin C. There are a lot of studies online about vitamin c and glaucoma. For dogs you need to give them the Ester C form of vitamin c as the other types can be a bit harsh on their stomach. I give my dog 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet at night. Each tablet is 625mg. At her last visit to the vet her pressure was so low, the vet had trouble measuring it. I think the vitamin c has something to do with that.

Yeah, it’s so potent that we humans require different degrees of dilution on different areas of our body even for just dermal application, but the staggering efficacy is definitely worth thorough consideration.
Could you please tell us the degree of dilution Amanda is talking about for eyes? Does she detail any case studies for animals? Could you also post the details on her explanation about their sensitivity? Is the sensitivity about burning if it isn’t diluted enough or is there more to it?

That's remarkable! 1 week? I've never heard of that stuff but now I may have to try it. Thanks for the heads up. I have the DMSO but haven't started yet. Not sure which I'll try first. Hmmm..
Anyway, we'll have to compare notes moving forward:) It's funny because I've tried a million hair remedies and they've all failed. And I vowed to stop wasting time and money and anything else....and here I am again, ready to do just that lol
Yeah, that does sound like amazing stuff. You could use both. Remember to check out what other things are supposed to be good for hair growth, rose hip oil IIRC (not sure), apply that and then follow it with the DMSO, just make sure whatever you use before the DMSO doesn’t contain anything artificial. The combination of both the mushroom extract pills and the DMSO might help with the fineness of the new hair growth (possibly like growing it from scratch again, like babies’ hair) and you could also try regular cutting for a while until it thickens.
The reviews I read about the application for hair growth used it in combination with other oils but they weren’t detailed so I don’t know how quickly you get results but apply it twice daily anyway.
If it turns out you’re not happy with the results of the DMSO (I have no personal experience, just know DMSO is legit) then don’t throw the DMSO out, it has other applications that I can personally confirm. I’ve had amazing results for arthritis and wound healing.
My son crushed his finger at the gym, the end of it was pretty mangled, we cleaned it up and applied the DMSO when he got home and the wound was healed in five days, about two weeks later his finger is completely normal again, no scarring, he just has a black nail to grow out now.
I don’t know how this works or if it’s even true but I’ve read that it restores the injury according to the original DNA code, I don’t know if there’s any research behind that but it honestly appears that way. It most definitely stops damage in its tracks if applied shortly after the injury, I’ve had miraculous results up to 24 hours after, no scarring, but it heals far more rapidly if applied at any time while healing.
High priority to know how to prepare for handling when applying, make sure you know that, I can send you photocopies of that from Humble’s book if you don’t have that information. Also for checking for allergic reaction.
