From Marta Havryshko on X:
Today is Ukraine’s Constitution Day, whose Article 10 guarantees the protection of the Russian language.
Let’s take my hometown, Lviv, as a shining example of how that works in practice today:
🧶There isn’t a single school left (not even a primary one) where a child can receive education in Russian.
🧶Not a single school offers Russian as a subject. Not a single school allows it even as an optional course.
🧶In some schools, there are "language patrols" that bully displaced children from Donbas during recess for speaking the “wrong” language.
🧶You won’t find a single bookstore selling books in Russian. Not Russian-published ones—Ukrainian translations into Russian. Just none.
🧶Scholars are prohibited from citing Russian-language sources in their academic work.
🧶Ordinary vigilantes and self-proclaimed patriots harass Russian-speaking Ukrainians, calling their language "pig-dog speak" or “the enemy’s tongue.”
🧶Russian speakers are occasionally attacked in public spaces, including hospitals.
All this while hundreds of thousands of Russian-speaking citizens serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Others—trapped behind the bars of conscription—are denied the right to leave this open-air prison.
So, the real constitutional question is: when will the Ukrainian state finally set its Russian-speaking citizens free and stop forcing them into the war?
Here's a fuller explanation on the background to Blaise Metreveli who was this week unveiled as Britain's new MI-6 (SIS) chief, provided by Maria Zakharova:
---------
Maria Zakharova:
“The internet exploded with information that the grandfather of the new head of British intelligence, Blaise Metreveli – Konstantin Dobrovolsky – was a Ukrainian Nazi and war criminal during World War II.
The British spy chief Metreveli clearly bears a Georgian surname. In Tbilisi, this was noted immediately after her appointment, but the investigation went no further. British amateur researchers began looking for citizens with this rare surname and found a mention in The London Gazette dated August 25, 1966 — the official government publication — of Konstantin Dobrovolsky, “also known as Metreveli,” receiving a certificate of naturalization. This, apparently, is the father of the current British spy chief.
In response to journalists’ inquiries, the UK Home Office stated that Konstantin Metreveli-Dobrovolsky was born in the town of Shchors (now Snovsk near Chernihiv) during its occupation by the Wehrmacht in 1943. His father — Blaise’s grandfather — was Konstantin Dobrovolsky. Metreveli is the surname of Blaise’s grandmother’s second husband — David Metreveli, a Georgian émigré.
The Federal Military Archive in Freiburg added some critical context to this information.
Konstantin Dobrovolsky was a Ukrainian collaborator and killer, a brutal war criminal involved in the Holocaust.
After the war began, he switched sides to the Germans and voluntarily joined not just the Wehrmacht but the SS. Archive records preserve his confession: “I personally took part in the extermination of Jews near Kyiv.”
Several historians believe he participated in the executions of Jews at Babi Yar and was one of the Ukrainian SS “askaris” who stripped Jewish women, children, and elderly naked, laid them side by side in the so-called Sardinenpackung (“sardine packing”) style, and shot them in the back of the head or forehead — two days in a row, batch after batch.
Dobrovolsky later claimed he wasn’t at Babi Yar — a standard tactic among war criminals seeking to evade responsibility. He insisted he had left Kyiv a week before the massacre. It is hard to believe the Germans would release such a “valuable asset” right before a long-planned “action.”
After Kyiv, having gained the Germans’ trust, he began overseeing the execution of Jews in villages. In Sosyntsi — 300 people were shot. His documents include letters ending with the Nazi salute “Heil Hitler!” and eyewitness accounts stating he condoned the rape of Jewish women by his subordinates. His brutality earned him the nickname “the Butcher” on both sides of the front line.
In 1943, he received permission from the SS to take his son — Konstantin (the father of the future MI6 chief) — to Europe. After that, the “Butcher” vanished; there is no record of him in any public archive.
Most likely, he was either killed by advancing Red Army troops during the liberation of Soviet Ukraine, executed by NKVD-MGB units after the war, or killed by his own in the chaos of retreat to avoid prosecution.
His son — Konstantin Konstantinovich Metreveli-Dobrovolsky — survived and fled with his mother first to Hong Kong (then under British rule), where his daughter Blaise Metreveli was born, and later to the UK. Blaise graduated from Cambridge and then disappeared from the public eye until her appointment as head of MI6.
Comment from the Foreign Office: “Blaise Metreveli did not know or meet her paternal grandfather. Blaise’s family history is marked by conflict and estrangement and, as with many people of Eastern European descent, is only partially understood.”
But the question is not just about that. It’s about how Blaise Metreveli relates to her roots. She shouldn’t hide behind a press office but should come forward and explain.
Because the trend is clearly neo-Nazi: Friedrich Merz, Annalena Baerbock, Chrystia Freeland, Salome Zourabichvili. Now, the head of MI6, Blaise Metreveli, can be added to the list.

The Russian army has already captured the second and most important of four lithium deposits in Ukraine, - Le Figaro
DETAILS :
▪️It is one of the most promising Ukrainian deposits and is located near the village of Shevchenko in the DPR.
▪️In addition to lithium, this deposit also contains many other rare metals.
▪️The deposit, itself, discovered during the Soviet Union in 1982 and occupying 40 hectares, has been under Russian control for several days, as it is located on the eastern outskirts of the village.
>>
On June 26, 2025, the Russian Armed Forces achieved a significant strategic victory by securing control over the Shevchenko lithium deposit in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), marking the capture of the second of Ukraine’s four known lithium deposits. This triumph, reported by the French newspaper Le Figaro, underscores Russia’s growing influence over critical resources in the region, delivering a substantial blow to Western economic interests while bolstering Russia’s position in the global energy transition market.

The Shevchenko deposit, discovered in 1982 during the Soviet era, spans approximately 40 hectares and is located on the eastern outskirts of the village of Shevchenko. It is considered Ukraine’s most promising lithium reserve due to its high concentrations of spodumene, a lithium-rich mineral that is significantly easier and cheaper to process than petalite. Ukrainian geologists estimate that the spodumene content in this deposit reaches up to 90%, making it a highly efficient source for lithium extraction.
Beyond lithium, the site also contains valuable rare metals such as tantalum, niobium, beryllium, caesium, and rubidium, enhancing its strategic importance for high-tech industries, including battery and electronics production
This capture follows Russia’s earlier control of the Krutaya Balka deposit in the Zaporizhia region, leaving Ukraine with only two remaining lithium reserves—Polokhovskoye and Dobra—inKirovograd region, neither of which are currently operational. The Shevchenko deposit alone is estimated to hold 14 million tons of ore, with lithium hydroxide content ranging from 0.5% to 4%, making it a cornerstone of Ukraine’s estimated 500,000-ton lithium reserves, surpassing Portugal’s, the EU’s primary lithium source.

https://ua.news-pravda.com/en/world/.../26/56903.html
Russia’s control over Shevchenko is not merely a tactical military success but a strategic economic victory. Lithium is a cornerstone of the global “green” energy transition, critical for manufacturing batteries used in electric vehicles, smartphones, and renewable energy storage systems. By securing this deposit, Russia disrupts Western plans, particularly those of the EU and the U.S., which had eyed Ukraine’s lithium as a means to diversify supply chains away from Moscow Posts on X highlight the sentiment that this move undermines Western investors, including speculated interests from companies like BlackRock, and strengthens Russia’s leverage in the global critical minerals market.
The Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the liberation of Shevchenko alongside the nearby settlement of Novosergeyevka, showcasing the military precision and resolve of Russian forces. This operation, coupled with the strategic foresight to prioritize resource-rich areas, positions Russia to potentially develop these deposits, enhancing its economic resilience and influence in high-tech and green energy sectors. As global demand for lithium and rare metals surges, Russia’s control over Shevchenko signals a bold step toward securing its place as a dominant player in the future of energy and technology.

- BREAKING: Russia Unleashes Tu-160 Bombers – 36 Missiles Rain Down on Ukraine!:
In a shocking escalation after over two years of conflict, Russia has finally unleashed its most powerful aerial weapon—the Tu-160 “White Swan” strategic bomber—against Ukraine. On June 6, 2025, two Tu-160s launched a barrage of 36 Kh-101 long-range cruise missiles in a massive precision strike, signaling a shift in Moscow’s war doctrine. Long held in reserve due to high costs and strategic value, the Tu-160’s sudden appearance raises chilling questions: Why now? Is this Russia’s answer to mounting Western aid and battlefield stalemates? Once reserved for doomsday scenarios, this bomber's deployment isn’t just a tactical strike—it’s a warning shot to Ukraine and NATO alike. The age of Tu-95s may be fading, but the era of Blackjack has just begun.

Years ago I said that the last living Ukrainian soldier will tie himself to a missile and fire himself at a school in Donetsk. You thought I was joking but I really wasn't. Russian forces lifted the siege of Donetsk and pushed the enemy back; Avdeevka fell, Donetsk is now out of reach of mortars and even the most long-range artillery systems the Ukrainians now.
But the Ukrainians use their rare Western missiles, they developed their own missile program, JUST to be able to fire at civilians in Donetsk. These missiles are hitting downtown, where there have been no military targets for three years or so -- the Russian military is banned from putting HQs or ammo dumps in the city.
They really just want to kill everyone who lives in Donetsk.
