Russia shares plans for Zaporozhye nuclear power plant restart
Russian specialists are working to restart reactors No. 5 and 6 of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, a senior official at Russia’s state nuclear energy giant said on Friday.
The process may require “about a week,” Renat Karchaa, an advisor to the head of Rosenergoatom, told TASS news agency.
The preparations have been confirmed by city authorities in Energodar, where the site is located. The plant is “in working order and can generate power” after it is turned back on, local administration chief Aleksandr Volga said in an interview on Russian television on Friday.
He explained that the city intends to use the plant as a source of thermal power during the heating season, and is rerouting the plumbing accordingly. A gas-fired power plant in Energodar is out of operation after being hit by Ukrainian artillery, regional officials earlier said.
Vladimir Rogov, a senior Zaporozhye Region official, told the media there are problems that need to be fixed before the nuclear site can be operated again. He explained that most of the power lines connecting it to the grid were previously damaged and will have to be repaired.
Only one transmission line currently remains intact, but it passes across the Dnepr River to Kiev-controlled territory, he explained, adding that the connection was currently being used to power the station itself.

Kiev wants to make new Russian city ‘unlivable’ – top official
On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a change of ownership of the largest nuclear plant in Europe to reflect the new status of Zaporozhye Region as one of the four provinces newly incorporated into Russia.
A new organization operating under Rosenergoatom has taken over the facility, with the staff offered new employment in the same positions.
Kiev, which considers the region to be its own territory, has sent instructions to the plant's workers to ignore the change of ownership and take orders from the Ukrainian operator, Energoatom.
The perilous situation was discussed this week by Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, and Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky. The UN’s nuclear watchdog does not recognize Russia’s claim on the Zaporozhye plant.
“The plant’s courageous staff deserve our sincere gratitude and respect for continuing to fulfill their vital tasks in unimaginably difficult conditions, with their workplace located in the middle of a war zone,” Grossi said. “There is a need for urgent action to make their jobs and lives easier, not the opposite”.
Aleksandr Volga reported that out of 11,000 employees that the nuclear site normally requires to operate, some 7,800 have remained in their positions. He confirmed that the IAEA was scheduled to rotate its inspectors on Friday, with two people currently stationed leaving and four new specialists arriving in Energodar. The Russian official said he expected the newcomers to help with the safe restart of the reactors.

Energodar has been under Russian control since March, but Ukrainian forces are within artillery striking distance. Moscow has repeatedly accused Kiev of endangering the Zaporozhye facility with its attacks on the city, while Ukraine has claimed Russian forces were responsible for the shellings.
The IAEA fact-finding mission, which arrived in Energodar in early September, corroborated reports of damage to the station, but declined to assign blame.

Putin transfers Europe’s largest nuclear plant to Russian control
President Vladimir Putin has issued an order placing the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, Europe's largest, under Russian management. A presidential decree on the fate of the facility was published on Wednesday.
The plant will be operated by a subsidiary of Russia’s state-owned nuclear power giant Rosatom. For now, it will continue to function under Ukrainian-issued licenses until Russian equivalents are obtained, according to the document.
The move comes as Moscow finalizes the accession of four formerly Ukrainian regions – Zaporozhye, Kherson, as well as Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics – to Russia. The territories overwhelmingly backed a proposal to join Russia in referendums last month. The votes were firmly rejected by Kiev and its Western backers, who denounced them as “sham” votes.
In recent weeks, Zaporozhye nuclear power plant has been subjected to repeated missile, artillery and drone attacks, attributed by the Russian military to Ukrainian forces, as well as targeted by saboteurs in apparent attempts to seize the facility from Russian forces. Kiev, along with multiple Western officials, however, has been blaming Moscow for shelling the nuclear facility it controls.
Putin ‘surprised’ by referendum results READ MORE: Putin ‘surprised’ by referendum results
The Zaporozhye plant was seized by the Russian military early in the ongoing conflict. Until now, however, it has remained under Ukrainian management.
Russia sent troops into Ukraine on February 24, citing Kiev’s failure to implement the Minsk agreements, designed to give the regions of Donetsk and Lugansk special status within the Ukrainian state. The protocols, brokered by Germany and France, were first signed in 2014. Former Ukrainian president Pyotr Poroshenko has since admitted that Kiev’s main goal was to use the ceasefire to buy time and “create powerful armed forces.”
In February 2022, the Kremlin recognized the Donbass republics as independent states and demanded that Ukraine officially declare itself a neutral country that will never join any Western military bloc. Kiev insists the Russian offensive was completely unprovoked.

Drone explodes at Russian military airport – local officials
An explosion occurred at a military airbase in Kaluga region located southwest of the Russian capital when an unidentified drone hit the ground, local authorities said on Friday, adding that there have been no casualties or major damage.
According to Kaluga’s Governor Vladislav Shapsha, a blast occurred at military airport ‘Shaikovka,’ with an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), which “presumably flew from [this] side of the border,” hitting the ground in the area.
“There are no casualties. The airfield infrastructure and equipment didn’t sustain any damage,” the official said, adding that there is no threat to the airport’s current operations while investigators are already looking into the incident.
Shaikovka is located about 600 kilometers from the Russia-Ukraine border and 300 kilometers southwest of Moscow. Moreover, according to media reports, the facility is home to a regiment of Russian strategic supersonic bombers.

While Shapsha did not comment on who might be behind the intrusion, news outlet Mash described the incident at the base as a “diversion.” It claimed that the UAV with a grenade was launched Friday morning not far from the airbase.
“[The drone] did not enter Russia from the territory of Ukraine. Its purpose was to destroy the airport’s runway,” it wrote, adding that the flight strip had been damaged but that it has already been repaired.
Since the onset of Russia’s military campaign in late February, Ukraine has repeatedly used drones for military purposes. In late September, in one of the most notorious examples, a Ukrainian explosive-laden UAV attacked Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, though no damage was caused to its reactor.
Starlink trouble reported in Ukraine
Ukrainian soldiers say Elon Musk’s satellites stopped working during some battles with Russians
Outages of the Starlink communications system have led to a “catastrophic” loss of communication between Ukrainian troops as they battled Russian forces, the Financial Times (FT) reported on Friday.
The news triggered concerns that Elon Musk may have done something to the service in response to Ukrainian denunciations of his peace plan, but the SpaceX magnate called the newspaper's article “bad reporting.”
Musk gave Ukraine thousands of Starlink terminals back in March, helping Kiev’s military to “operate drones, receive vital intelligence updates and communicate with each other in areas where there are no other secure networks,” as the FT described it.
In recent weeks, as Ukrainian forces moved into territory previously controlled by Russian forces, the systems stopped working on multiple occasions. One senior Ukrainian official told the FT this led to a “catastrophic” loss of communication, including during “pitched battles.” Failures were “widespread” and “prompted panicked calls from soldiers to helplines,” said another official.
Roman Sinitsin, who runs a nonprofit that directs Starlinks to the Ukrainian military, said the problem may have been due to Musk’s SpaceX having a block on the signal in Russian-held areas.
“It is absolutely clear to me that this is being done by representatives of Starlink to prevent the usage of their technology by Russian occupation forces,” Sinitsin told the FT, urging SpaceX to coordinate more closely with the Ukrainian military.

A concise 20 minute interview by Judge Napolitano with Scott Ritter. (Ritter is a regular guest of his, and Napolitan's interviews are always concise. :) )
What interested me here was Ritter's observation and informed opinion about the presence of US Special Forces as boots on the ground in Ukraine, barely any secret now. "Hundreds of Americans rotating in and out of Ukraine", he states. He explains they'd be in civilian clothes, not uniformed (as the mercenaries are, which is a different thing).
He also states, and many other analysts agree, that NATO's goal here is not to save Ukraine, or to win back territory (including even Crimea), but to sacrifice Ukraine using it as a means to try to bleed Russia dry.

Lavrov explains why Russia sees Ukraine as a threat
President Zelensky did ask NATO for a preemptive nuclear strike, despite claims to the contrary, the Russian foreign minister said
A call by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky for NATO members to deploy nuclear weapons against Russia is a reminder of why Moscow launched military action against his country, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has said.
“Yesterday, Zelensky called on his Western masters to deliver a preemptive nuclear strike on Russia,” Moscow’s top diplomat stated during a media conference on Wednesday.
In doing so, the Ukrainian leader “showed to the entire world the latest proof of the threats that come from the Kiev regime.” Lavrov said Russia’s special military operation had been launched to neutralize those threats.
He dismissed as “laughable” an attempt to downplay Zelensky’s words made by his press secretary, Sergey Nikoforov.
“We all remember how [Zelensky] declared in January Ukraine’s intention to acquire nuclear weapons. Apparently, this idea has long been stuck in his mind,” the Russian minister said.
On Thursday, Zelensky told the Australian Lowy Institute that NATO must carry out preemptive strikes against Russia so that it “knows what to expect” if it uses its nuclear arsenal. He claimed that such action would “eliminate the possibility of Russia using nuclear weapons,” before recalling how he urged other nations to preemptively punish Russia before it launched its military action against his country.
“I once again appeal to the international community, as it was before February 24: Preemptive strikes so that [the Russians] know what will happen to them if they use it, and not the other way around,” he said.
His spokesman then claimed that people interpreting Zelensky’s words as a call for a preemptive nuclear strike were wrong, and that Ukraine would never use such rhetoric.

*elinsky says NATO should use nuclear weapons on Russia first, as a deterrent to their using nuclear weapons. At the same time he is nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize
Ah, the Nobel Peace Prize, the ultimate honour conferred on individuals who further the cause of peace for humanity, calls for nuclear pre-emptive strikes on Moscow clearly demonstrates just how much Zelensky loves the cause of peace. Just like a previous peace prize winner, Obama who so tirelessly worked toward peace in the world, Zelensky deserves the European society's highest acclaim for his efforts that will result in a peace that you will enjoy, or else! The term 'Phyric Victory' has never been more aptly applied in the case of NATO & the USA deep state's objectives for Ukraine.
Forgive my heavy handed irony, but really, the 'Peace Prize' for Zelensky? They really do think that the people of the world are stupid - what a blatantly hypocritical gesture eh?
Mike,
what a strong sobering comment about the glaring hypocrisy we all live under. How can the world tolerate this, and yet it seems to do so .
well done sir

Either Waggaman is one of the CIA's many disinfo hacks. Or a dickhead. Neither is mutually exclusive
Within Waggaman's own source, Russian servicemen who abandon their post during mobilization/combat get 10 years
However, Waggaman turns that upside-down. Going AWOL in combat "means attempting to avoid mandatory vaccination" in his head
Then there's his make-believe hump about Russian troops getting jabbed by force
If you read this guy, you'd think Russia was lining blindfolded prisoners along a wall and shooting them with Sputnik V
Attachment 49715
US, Germany, New Zealand, Canada carry out the same kinda vaccination program as Russia. ie., If you don't get the injection, you get the rejection! Basically, no job. Dismissal from service
Oh yeah, AstraZeneca & Sputnik V; some fatal differences
* AstraZeneca is an adenovirus vax vector-based with chimpanzee DNA
* Sputnik V is an adenovirus vax vector-based with human DNA
But I'm sure Waggaman & AstraZeneca would say there's no monkey business going on
But it's in Waggaman's nasty pseudonym--Edward Slavsquat--where we see a real indication of what he really thinks of the Slavic-Russian world
But but but he's married to a Russian?! So damn what? Slave trader Zephaniah Kingsley married black women, had black concubines- but still enslaved and enriched himself off Afro/Caribbeans. Zelensky is Jewish & Ukrainian, and yet he armed neo-Nazi psychopaths to mass-kill Russo-Ukrainians, for four years and counting
,
So take Waggaman's words with a nanoscopic grain of swamp salt
Well, the crimean bridge just exploded.
duh
this 1984 Orwell Quote springs to mind...
“War is peace.
Freedom is slavery.
Ignorance is strength.”
I wonder if the promise of a Nobel Peace Prize was one of the carrots dangled before Zelensky when Boris Johnson, then the British PM, was deployed to stop him agreeing to Peace Talks with Russia early into the Special Military Operation..?
That and some thinly veiled threats I expect ... as much as Zelensky is the perfect WEF and Deep State puppet endlessly parading around in his khaki green teashirt... it has to be a bit of a job to keep him going and keep him on task as times goes on...

Quote:
General of the Russian Aerospace Forces, Sergey Surovikin, was put in charge of Russia’s “Special Military Operation” in Ukraine
Surovikin’s nickname within the Russian Armed Forces is Cannibal. He’s known as a tough MF@R, a hardliner
He’s currently in charge of southern group of the Russian Army & led several offensives which saw Ukrainian troops encircled and destroyed in LPR
He’s also largely accredited as the sole reason why the Syrian government was able to regain its territory from ISIS
He does not believe in retreats & does not favour surgical approach to strikes. In Syria, we noticed that his approach was rather “go big or go home” — huge aerial bombardments were his thing
He’s also rumoured to be next in-line to eventually retire Gerasimov as the Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces
(Now confirmed)
For readers who don't have Telegram, here he is: :)

My comment referring to Surovikin being General of the Russian Aerospace Forces: it might be very possible that the Russian Air Force, which is extremely powerful but so far barely utilized, will now start to play a much more prominent and decisive role.

Moscow points to Kiev’s ‘terrorist nature’ after bridge explosion
Ukraine’s reaction to the explosion that damaged the Crimean Bridge speaks to the “terrorist nature” of its leadership, Russia’s Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has said. The bridge was closed for traffic after a truck blew up early on Saturday.
“The reaction of the Kiev regime to the destruction of civilian infrastructure testifies to its terrorist nature,” Zakharova wrote on Telegram several hours after the blast.
Ukrainian officials have stopped short of claiming responsibility for the explosion, but an aide to President Vladimir Zelensky, Mikhail Podoliak, warned on Twitter earlier that what happened at the bridge, called the Kerch Bridge, was “just the beginning.”
Ukraine’s Defense Ministry also tweeted that “the guided missile cruiser Moskva and the Kerch Bridge – two notorious symbols of Russian power in Ukrainian Crimea – have gone down. What’s next in line, russkies [Russians]?”
Russia’s Black Sea flagship Moskva sank off the coast of Odessa in April. According to Moscow, a fire broke out on board, causing the detonation of ammunition. However, Kiev claimed to have struck the cruiser.

Crimean Bridge explosion 'just the beginning,’ Ukraine warns
Various Ukrainian officials have promised to attack the Kerch Bridge, which connects the Russian peninsula of Crimea to the country’s Krasnodar Region, on several occasions since the conflict between Moscow and Kiev broke out in late February.
The blast on Europe’s longest bridge occurred at around 6am local time, leading to a partial collapse of the road on the part of the bridge used by vehicles. A blaze also broke out on the parallel rail section, where seven fuel tanks caught fire.
Russia’s National Anti-Terrorism Committee said that a truck blew up as it was traveling along the 19-km-long structure. CCTV videos from the scene also showed a vehicle exploding.
The fire has already been extinguished, and the damage caused by the blast is being assessed. The Crimean authorities said that ferry service would be provided while the bridge is being repaired.

- Zelensky Calls For Nuclear First Strikes Against Russia:
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky dramatically upped the rhetorical ante this week by calling for NATO to launch pre-emptive nuclear strikes against Russia, in order to prevent the Russians from launching their own nuclear strikes. The statement was so insanely and unnecessarily provocative that the t-shirt clad leader immediately walked it back, his lackeys claiming that Zelensky had only been talking about increasing sanctions on Russia. So what if that makes absolutely no sense? Jimmy and America’s Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss Zelensky’s out-of-pocket suggestion that would likely bring about World War III and global nuclear armageddon.

Zaporozhye Nuclear Plant Shelling Just Cost Kiev 20% of Its Traditional Sources of Electricity
After falling into the Russian military’s hands in March, the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has been subjected to months of shelling attacks by Ukrainian forces. Late last month, the last of the plant’s six reactors was disconnected from the grid to minimize risks caused by incessant bombardment.
Ukraine’s national energy grid has lost access to about a fifth of its traditional sources of electricity supplies, with Zaporozhye regional government member Vladimir Rogov announcing Saturday that Ukrainian shelling had damaged the final high-voltage transmission line linking the NPP to the grid.
“Last night, the last high-voltage power transmission line connecting the plant to the power system of Ukraine was damaged and disconnected as a result of shelling by Ukrainian forces,” Rogov said.
The plant has switched to operation using diesel generators, he added.
International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi announced later in the day Saturday that he would visit Russia and Ukraine “to agree on a nuclear safety and security protection zone around the plant,” and dubbed the shelling which struck the plant’s sole source of external power a “tremendously irresponsible” action. As per established IAEA policy, Grossi did not name the culprits behind the shelling attacks.
Also on Saturday, the Russian military reported that the city of Energodar and the ZNPP were shelled twice by the Ukrainian military using Grad multiple launch rocket systems, with a total of 15 rockets fired from the Ukrainian-controlled settlement of Marganets in Dnepropetrovsk region.
Saturday morning’s shelling attacks came just two days after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky warned that Kiev may soon be forced to stop selling electricity supplies to Europe.
“We won’t have enough to heat our homes. And that time is approaching,” Zelensky said, speaking to Australian officials on Thursday. “We talk all the time about the risks of blackouts. It could be days, weeks,” he added.
The ZNPP and its six VVER-1000/320 reactors, ordinarily generating up to 38,000 Gigawatt hours (GWh) of electrical power, once accounted for about 20 percent of Ukraine’s electricity needs, and some 45 percent of the electricity generated by the nation’s nuclear power plants.
The Russian-administered portion of Zaporozhye region became part of the Russian Federation late last month following a status referendum held between September 23-27 in which 93 percent of residents voted in favor of joining Russia.
Friday’s self-inflicted snipping the ZNPP’s final link to Ukraine’s grid threatens to undermine Zelensky’s ambitious energy swap plans. Throughout the spring and summer, he proposed trading electricity generated by nuclear power for natural gas, and sought to woo foreign investors by selling Ukraine as an untapped energy source that could help Europe address its shortages.
As recently as last month, Zelensky boasted that Ukraine could become a hub for “green energy” in Europe by increasing electricity exports to EU countries. “For this [to take place], it is important that the ZNPP returns to a safe mode of operation and remains connected to the Ukrainian energy grid,” he said. “Even now, with all the difficulties, we can export such a volume of electricity that corresponds to at least 8 percent of the consumption of entire Italy,” he said.
“Our country has a huge natural potential for developing opportunities in green energy and in production of green hydrogen. This is a potential of tens, and possibly hundreds of green gigawatts of electric power and millions of tons of green hydrogen,” Zelensky added.
At the same time, Zelensky warned Ukrainians to brace for the “most difficult” winter in the country’s history, announcing a halt in gas and coal exports, and advising the public to stock up on warm clothes and blankets to prepare for the cold season.
Kiev’s European sponsors are themselves bracing for unprecedented energy shortages sparked by the shortsighted decision to cut themselves off from Russian oil, gas, electricity and coal supplies, and cemented by the unprecedented sabotage attacks against the Nord Stream pipelines.
Last week, European gas infrastructure operator association GIE warned that gas offtake from the region’s underground storage sites had recently begun to exceed supplies being put into storage. Separately, the International Energy Agency indicated that storage would drop to 5 percent of capacity by February if Russian supplies remained cut off and deliveries of LNG were not significantly expanded.
With Europe facing energy shortages of its own and unlikely to share, and Kiev slashing its own access to Russian-sourced energy, it’s unclear how Ukraine will make up for the shortfalls this winter. Even before the escalation of the security crisis this February, successive pro-Western governments’ IMF-authored reforms had driven many Ukrainians into energy poverty, with millions resorting to wood and peat-burning stoves.
RE the Crimea Bridge explosion;
The guy driving the truck was known for doing "dodgy" transport stuff, probably cash in hand but nothing properly criminal, if the explosion did in fact come from the truck & wasn't a missile or planted explosive device then he was tricked into transporting what he believed was fertiliser, but was in fact a huge amount of explosives.
Fertilisers have been used as part of explosives to deadly effect by the IRA for years, they are the oxygenating part, it also needs a fuel, even just diesel & a detonator.
Explosions are basically fires that burn extremely fast, an RAF armourer once explained to me.
