In a blow to the hopes of the families of the remaining hostages held by Hamas in Gaza, Netanyahu said the hostages would only be released by continued military pressure on Hamas. His televised address came after Israel said on Tuesday that it had informed the families of 31 of the remaining 136 hostages that their relatives were dead.
Families on both sides continue to suffer daily.

How do the peacemakers, the rationalists, the empathists of the civilised world stop these global atrocities? I sit at home, being told by my family ‘give up, there’s nothing your one voice can do’ but this goes against the grain of humanity. We try to awaken folks, but it seems futile. I DO NOT AGREE with what our so-called ‘representatives’ are forcing upon free people. This world is becoming rotten to the core - will be glad to go, but my family…..???

I do think the UN will eventually pull its weight on all this (the BRICS nations are working 24/7 behind the scenes, for sure), but the frustrating thing, of course, is that the wheels turn very slowly compared to the rate at which innocents are being killed.

Israeli crimes at Ibn Sina hospital may amount to war crimes: UN panel
A panel of UN experts on Friday deemed that the murder of three Palestinian men at a hospital in the occupied West Bank could amount to war crimes.
The incident panelists referred to occurred on January 29 at the Ibn Sina Hospital in Jenin. The assailants disguised themselves as civilians and carried out a raid on the hospital's third floor. They then murdered the three Palestinians using silenced weapons and fled the scene.
"Under international humanitarian law, killing a defenseless injured patient who is being treated in a hospital amounts to a war crime," the UN experts said in a statement. They specifically referenced Basel Al-Ghazzawi, a patient receiving treatment for injuries inflicted by an Israeli airstrike.
"By disguising themselves as seemingly harmless, protected medical personnel and civilians, the Israeli forces also prima facie committed the war crime of perfidy, which is prohibited in all circumstances," they added.

CCTV footage from the hospital showed a group of 10 individuals, some dressed in civilian attire and others in medical uniforms, with three individuals wearing headscarves and women's clothing. They were seen walking through the hospital's corridors while carrying assault rifles.
Shortly after the crime was carried out, the Jenin division of Al-Qassam Brigades announced in a statement that a group of its Resistance fighters were martyred in "a cowardly assassination operation" carried out by an Israeli special force that infiltrated the Ibn Sina Hospital.
International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) spokeswoman Fatima Sator said that the matter will be raised in discussions with the relevant authorities.
"The ICRC notes with concern the Israeli security forces operation in a hospital in Jenin. Under international humanitarian law, hospitals and medical patients should be respected and protected at all times. The ICRC will address this as part of its confidential dialogue with the concerned authorities," the spokeswoman said.

Egypt tells Biden "Israel" blocking aid into Gaza
The Egyptian presidency has responded to comments made by the US President Joe Biden on Friday. Egypt has affirmed continued cooperation between both countries regarding reaching a ceasefire in Gaza and ensuring humanitarian pauses in the war.
Egypt reaffirmed its ongoing commitment to "Middle Eastern peace, security, and stability," as well as its role in delivering humanitarian assistance to Gaza.
The statement emphasized Egypt's rapid and unconditional opening of the Rafah crossing, notwithstanding the hurdles caused by Israeli occupation bombardment. Egypt's tireless efforts to organize assistance distribution and exert pressure on key parties were highlighted, stressing Egypt's humanitarian relief leadership.
Furthermore, Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to establishing a cease-fire in Gaza, protecting people, and spearheading humanitarian assistance. It underscored the futility of attempts to remove Palestinians and pushed for a two-state solution for long-term peace.
Egypt stressed that it had also “facilitated and coordinated the visits of international and UN officials to the crossing to inspect from the ground the tremendous efforts made by the Egyptian authorities in this regard," concluding the statement detailing that any effort to displace the Palestinian people will fail and reiterated Egypt stands firm in its belief for a two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders.
The Egyptian statement came in response to the US President's statements in which he said that Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi initially did not want to open the crossing to allow the entry of humanitarian aid. Biden claimed he convinced Sisi to open the crossing, as well as spoke to Netanyahu to open the crossing from the Israeli side.
Israeli occupation aircraft launched raids on Rafah, south of Gaza, this morning martyring eight Palestinians, at least three of whom are children, and injuring others.
As a result of the IOF bombing houses and residential apartments in Rafah, demolishing them with Palestinians still inside, five members of the Al-Sayyid family and three others of the Al-Nahhal family were martyred.
In the town al-Zawayda, IOF raided a kindergarten-turned-shelter, murdering at least four and injuring others, according to medical sources, with the injured being taken to Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
US State Department deputy spokesperson Vedant Patel on Thursday said that the US will not be supportive of "Israel's" planned offensive in Rafah city in Gaza, noting that such a development would prove disastrous as it lacks "serious credible planning".
This comes as the Israeli military is currently preparing to invade the city of Rafah in Gaza's far south, where more than one million Palestinians have sought refuge. After failing to agree on concessions proposed by Hamas for a ceasefire, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed to continue the war until the unrealistic goal of eliminating the resistance is reached.

Resistance fighters confront invading Israeli soldiers in Gaza
The Palestinian resistance on Friday continued to engage in fierce confrontations with Israeli occupation forces on multiple fronts in the Gaza Strip and launching rockets at Israeli settlements as the Israeli aggression on the blockaded strip persists for the 126th day.
The al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement (PIJ), announced that its fighters fiercely confronted Israeli occupation soldiers and vehicles using machine guns and anti-tank rockets in areas resisting the invasion west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza.
The al-Quds Brigades said they attacked Israeli military vehicles and assembly points in the eastern part of central Gaza with a barrage of rockets.
Meanwhile, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, the military wing of the Fatah movement, announced that its fighters sniped an Israeli soldier east of al-Maghazi camp in central Gaza.
The Mujahideen Brigades, the military wing of the Mujahideen Movement, revealed that they shelled the Israeli forces' gatherings in southeast Gaza with a number of short-range rockets.
An Al Mayadeen correspondent reported intense clashes between the resistance and the occupation in the neighborhoods of al-Rimal and Sheikh Ajleen in Gaza City.
Various factions of the Palestinian resistance continue to resist the Israeli forces advancing from various directions in the Gaza Strip, where fierce clashes are taking place, especially west of Gaza City.
IOF injuries skyrocketing
Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported Thursday that the IOF has treated about 13,000 injured troops since October 7.
As a portion of the injured were discharged after receiving treatments, 2,830 troops remain in hospitals in ongoing treatment, the newspaper reported.
The real number of wounded soldiers is in reality much higher than what the occupation media reports, as the IOF censors the latter and the occupation continuously attempts to hide the extent of its losses.
This comes in parallel with the Palestinian Resistance's continued engagement in fierce clashes with the IOF on more than one axis in the Gaza Strip, resulting in material and human losses for the occupation.
The Martyr Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of the Hamas movement, announced yesterday that they sniped an Israeli officer near the university area in the center of Gaza, publishing a video clip showcasing this operation.
Al-Qassam freedom fighters also targeted an Israeli “Merkava” tank and a “D9” occupation military bulldozer with Al-Yassin 105 charges in the vicinity of Patient Friends Charity Hospital, west of Gaza while also targeting a “Merkava 4” tank with a tandem shell, west of the Al-Sabra neighborhood in Gaza City.
In addition, they targeted occupation forces invading the Al-Katiba area, west of Gaza City, with mortar shells.
In a joint operation, the freedom fighters of the Al-Quds Brigades, the military wing of the Islamic Jihad Movement in Palestine, and those of Al-Qassam Brigades, targeted a special Israeli force consisting of 10 Israeli troops hiding in a house west of the city of Khan Younis, using two anti-personnel shells and machine guns, resulting in the killing and wounding of Israeli troops.

Netanyahu rejects UN pleas and says Israeli forces will enter Rafah
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said on Friday that the country's military would expand its Gaza offensive into Rafah, despite the United Nations warning it would be catastrophic for the more than one million Palestinians who have sought shelter there.
Netanyahu's office said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, that Israel could not achieve its goal of eliminating Hamas "by leaving four Hamas battalions in Rafah", and that the premier had told the military to draw up "a combined plan for evacuating the population and destroying the battalions".
Since Israel's military expanded its assault into southern Palestinian cities such as Khan Younis, more than half of Gaza's population, some 1.4 million Palestinians - have fled to Rafah, according to the main United Nations agency that aids Palestinian refugees in Gaza, known as Unrwa.
Philippe Lazzarini, the head of Unrwa, told reporters on Friday that there was "growing anxiety and growing panic" in the city, with Palestinians having "absolutely no idea where to go after Rafah".
"Any large-scale military operation among this population can only lead to an additional layer of endless tragedy that’s unfolding," Lazzarini said.
The US, the main military and financial backer of Israel and its war on Gaza, has cautioned Israel against launching a large-scale offensive into Rafah, a previously declared "safe zone".
US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby told reporters on Thursday that the White House "would not support" such an operation.
"Any major military operation in Rafah at this time, under these circumstances, with more than a million - probably more like a million and a half Palestinians who are seeking refuge [there] - without due consideration for their safety would be a disaster," Kirby said.
His comments came as US President Joe Biden issued his bluntest criticism of Israel's actions in Gaza since the start of the war, describing its offensive in the enclave as "over the top".
"There are a lot of innocent people who are starving, a lot of innocent people who are in trouble and dying, and it’s got to stop," Biden told reporters at the White House.
'Humanitarian nightmare'
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who is on his fifth trip to the Middle East since the 7 October attacks on southern Israel, urged Israel on Wednesday to do more to protect civilian lives.
"Israel has the responsibility, has the obligation, to do everything possible to ensure that civilians are protected and that they get the assistance they need in the course of this conflict," Blinken said during his visit to Israel.
He made stops this week in Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Egypt to support negotiations for a cease-fire that could free the remaining hostages held in Gaza and allow for more humanitarian aid to reach Palestinians.
Netanyahu insisted earlier this week that Israeli forces going to Rafah would be "providing the civilian population safe passage to safe zones".
However, given the scale of devastation elsewhere in Gaza, and the huge numbers of people trapped in the enclave, aid organisations say that such pledges will be nigh-on impossible to fulfil.
"Expanded air and ground operations into Rafah will unleash a humanitarian nightmare in Gaza surpassing even the horror of the past four months," the aid organisation Mercy Corps said in a statement on Friday.
"If people are forced to flee north from Rafah, they can only return to devastated areas that are littered with dangerous explosive devices and are virtually uninhabitable – no services, no supplies, no sufficient aid response, and very little remaining infrastructure to sustain life. The journey – as it was when many fled south – will likely be incredibly dangerous.
"What we need now is a sustained ceasefire, end to the siege and access for the massive scale-up of aid – not a new onslaught in a town of a million people."
Israel launched its offensive on Gaza after Palestinian fighters launched a multi-pronged assault on southern Israel which killed around 1,200 people and saw over 200 taken as captives back to Gaza.
According to Mohammed Deif, the leader of Hamas's military wing, the operation was launched in response to an increase in settler attacks in the occupied West Bank and repeated incursions at Al-Aqsa Mosque, the third holiest site in Islam.
Since the 7 October attacks, Israel's assault on Gaza has killed more than 27,500 people and displaced around 1.7 million people multiple times. Nearly 70 percent of Gaza's 439,000 homes and about half of its buildings have been damaged or destroyed by Israeli air strikes and shelling.

Keeping Gaza online: What happens when lines of communication are cut off during war?
In the midst of the ongoing Israeli bombardment of Gaza, the region faces not only physical devastation but also a severe communication blackout, leaving Palestinians, journalists and rescue agencies in a dire situation. The deliberate targeting of phone lines, internet connections and media offices by Israeli forces has created unprecedented challenges not only for those in Gaza, but also for those abroad trying to reach their family in the enclave.

#SouthAfrica's Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor accused Israeli intelligence of trying to intimidate her following the International Court of Justice's recent ruling on potential genocidal actions by "Israel" against Palestinians in #Gaza.
Speaking after President Cyril #Ramaphosa's State of the Nation address, Pandor expressed concern for her family's safety due to threats received on social media.
"I felt that [it would] be better if we had extra security. But what I’m more concerned about is my family, because in some of the social media messages my children are mentioned and so on, but this is par for the course. The Israeli agents, the intelligence services, [this] is how they behave, and they seek to intimidate you, so we must not be intimidated. There is a cause that is under way," Pandor told reporters.
"We can’t stand back now. We must be with them [the people of #Palestine]. And I think one of the things we must not allow is a failure of courage. It’s extremely important that we continue with this. We talked to the South African people; they understand why it is we have taken up this moral course," she said.

The Sinn Fein vice president called for a ceasefire in #Gaza, warning that the Strip has been reduced to “the graveyard for children, let it not be the graveyard for international law”.
The journalist asked her, "a long time ago, the IRA was seen as a terrorist organisation that the #British government and everybody else could not ever talk to. And yet we know what followed from that. Do you think that Ha-ma-s, although regarded as a terrorist organisation by many people around the world, are going to be eventually a partner for peace, have to be a partner for peace?"
She replied: ‘Yes, I think you only have to look to our own example, to know that how important dialogue is, and it is the only way you're going to ever bring an end to conflict. If the British government didn't talk to republicans or republicans didn't talk to the British government in the past, in Ireland, we would not be in the scenario that we are in today enjoying a peaceful and far more equal society.

Same as everything else. You realize you are in a Totalitarian Democracy:
Totalitarian democracy is a term popularized by Israeli historian Jacob Leib Talmon to refer to a system of government in which lawfully elected representatives maintain a nation state whose citizens, while granted the right to vote, have little or no participation in the decision-making process of the government.
meaning your sacred "right to vote" is not just a smokescreen, but, a joke played on you by Fascists.
Anyone standing around talking about "fixing" these governments is wasting their time, exactly what they want you to do.
The way to stop a government is to remove it.
Last time I checked, I come from a heritage of resisting the English government since the 1200s, and even though I am not even on its soil, it still affects me immensely. Particularly, this strategy of Zion.
This is a lot of work to have not come up with a better answer.
That is correct the "deaf ears" make things that I would consider normal like reason and empathy to be killed. At a certain level, that is just a fight. I think we are in a state-ist collective of those who disagree with each other so strongly that it would just be a fight if we actually talked about those things.
I have no remorse, if anyone in my family told me something I don't like, I'll tell them something they don't want to hear. Most people are terrified of me. I've never hurt anyone. What does this mean? They are paranoid, over-sensitive, and easily manipulated. That's why me and Zionists don't talk about "it". That way I can pretend I don't know who they are.
Re: Israel vs Palestine/Lebanon/Iran/Yemen/Syria: a New Middle East War
Senator Bernie Sanders' strong speech about the catastrophe in Gaza. To paraphrase Sanders: 'Netanyahu refusing to stop the attacks against Gaza is all about his trying to salvage his political situation.' Sanders emphatically admonishes his colleagues to NOT vote for any more aid to Israel.
LIVE: No More Money For Netanyahu
https://youtube.com/watch?v=h4e1bLFOd-8
However, Sanders has repeated the same old trope that 'This war was started by Hamas on October 7'. It's no coincidence that all western leaders (including Canada) have repeated this lie non-stop, which has enabled Israel to claim they must continue to fight until the complete elimination of Hamas. (The extent to which zionists have infiltrated and controlled the political arenas of western countries is disgusting, and frightening.
We all know here that they can't eliminate Hamas unless they also eliminate most of the Gazan civilian population.
So, let's all redress this lie by telling the truth wherever we can, to politicians and on forums. The truth being that this war started in 1948, when zionist terrorists displaced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians, and killed thousands of them, followed by on-going attacks and land thefts to this day. Zionists have also kidnapped many Palestinians and held them in prison for YEARS without charges, even women and children, often abusing and torturing them. On October 7 Hamas' goal was to capture Israelis to exchange them for these Palestinian hostages. Compared to the decades-long Zionist terrorism, Hamas' demands seem quite reasonable:
Complete ceasefire, exchange ALL hostages from BOTH sides, and Israel must stop its occupation of Palestinian lands and retreats back to the 1967 borders.

Report: Egypt warns Israel Rafah offensive may lead to suspension of peace treaty - Times of Israel, Feb 10 2024Egypt and Saudi Arabia have added their voices to a rising tide of criticism of a planned Israeli ground offensive in the Gaza Strip’s southern city of Rafah, after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu indicated that such a campaign was forthcoming. Netanyahu announced Friday that he had ordered the Israeli military to present the cabinet with a plan to both evacuate the city’s civilian population — augmented by over one million refugees from the strip’s north and center — and destroy Hamas’s remaining battalions in the area.
...
The Wall Street Journal reported Friday that Egyptian officials warned the decades-long peace treaty between Egypt and Israel could be suspended if Israel Defense Forces’ troops enter Rafah, or if any of Rafah’s refugees are forced southward into the Sinai Peninsula.
In addition, Saudi Arabia — which has already conditioned normalization with Israel on an end to hostilities and steps toward the establishment of a Palestinian state — issued a statement Saturday warning of “the extremely dangerous repercussions of storming and targeting the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip,” given the city being “the last refuge for hundreds of thousands of people.”
Reuters reported that in an effort to forestall a massive influx of refugees, Egypt has over the past two weeks stationed some 40 tanks near its border with Gaza, after having reinforced the border wall since the beginning of hostilities, both structurally and with surveillance equipment.
On Friday, Israel’s Channel 12 also reported that IDF Chief of Staff Herzi Halevi was opposed to Netanyahu’s plan for a swift Rafah campaign, saying that although the military is technically capable of such an operation, it would be unwise to undertake it without coordination with the Egyptians and plans for the city’s massive refugee population.
Plans are made to react to an onslaught on Rafah:

Smells like he got elected in Argentina with a lot of zionist 'help'. Once again the public was duped. What Millei is suggesting with a 'third temple' would start an all-out war involving muslim countries, and surely he knows that. The zionists really want WW3 as one tool to expand their land grabbing and weaken their opponent. Another clue about Millei's real agenda is that he said previously that he wants to keep the US dollar for trade in Argentina. The BRICS are coming in fast, and that's a major threat to these zionist shills, i.e. a reduced economic power results in reduced political power.
