When you are obsessed, you keep going in the face of mountains of evidence to the contrary.
What it means on a non-global scale for those of us in different areas, I have no idea. The same old Amish idea sounds pretty tempting, although they might not like me to use that word. I certainly don't believe in the long term success of batteries and robots and so on.

First of all, what they call Gog and Magog is incorrect:
