Re: Exorcism - personal experiences?
Heh, that's my problem...I've believed something is there, I got confirmation from an outside source I trust, I even got to talk to other people that believe they KNOW what it is, haves old faith and know that god is unconditional love, no matter what else you attach to it...
So the friend I trust doesn't believe she can remove it (them), the people I know I have dealt these things (their way) successfully thinks I (we) can do it, and you are so right it is all about each of our own perceptions...and I can only get so much of an understanding of hers.
It's up to her now. I lead the horse to water. Now pray she makes a good decision. I'll be by her side, still figuring out my own stuff...living and learning as long as she doesn't give up.
Distractions are so tough...keeping her "focused on the water", so to speak, is my toughest challenge.
I wish I had the confidence or faith or whatever to just impose my will, as these things impose on mine...but whether it be fear of myself screwing or the love of trusting her with that responsibility, or most likely my fear from lack knowledge and experience, quite honestly....whatever the case, I've taken a step back, no more pushing for awhile.
Thanks so much for all of your respinses

Re: Exorcism - personal experiences?
Not a direct personal experience, but pretty close. :)
As many may know, I used to run week-long residential personal development and leadership training courses for teenagers on programs, young managers, and (sometimes) senior executives. There were usually about 20 people on each course, and I always had a small team of co-facilitators to assist me.
On one program, there was a young man, maybe in his mid-to-late 20s, who was bitter, negative, cynical, and not at all a good team player. He came across as quite a 'dark', unpleasant person, and few of his colleagues seemed to like or trust him.
The way we worked was very informal, and we'd often talk late into the night in small groups dealing with whatever seemed to be pertinent or helpful. One night in the middle of the week, this young man stayed up late on his own to talk with a couple of my co-facilitators, both excellent listeners and skilled personal life coaches in their own right.
The next morning, I heard what had happened. Very late indeed, round about 4 am, this man had been sharing about some of the things in his life that had greatly upset and distressed him, including actions and decisions of his own that had significantly hurt others. My two co-facilitators were asking him gently but repeatedly:"Do you think you can forgive yourself?"
They told me that the following thing had happened. A black thing emerged from his head, flew around the room, and then escaped through the open window.
At that point it seemed he was completely and instantly transformed. All three present in the room were shocked and astonished, but as everyone was pretty tired and breakfast was in just a few hours' time, they all went to bed.
That next morning, this young man was totally different: happy, smiling, bright, friendly, kind, and helpful. It was a 180º personality change. Everyone could see it, and it was as plain as day. We all talked openly together about what had happened. There were some tears. And as best I know, the change was stable and also permanent.

On one program, there was a young man,
Bill, is this the same individual you talked about here? It always stuck with me -- a wonderful, profoundly moving story. The transformation he underwent, with your help, and which may even count as a kind of exorcism, is really something to hold onto. On reading the above, I went in search of that post.
If any of you haven't read that story, then I heartily urge you to do so.

No, not at all: this was a different person. :flower:

Thanks for the bump! Yes, that is a profound experience I will never ever forget.
Re: Exorcism - personal experiences?
To be honest, there are quite probably a thousand other important, useful, powerful, inspiring and quite wonderful threads dotted throughout the forum that could, perhaps should, be bumped from obscurity and revived. Especially now in these dark days when hope feels at a premium, or at the very least under siege.
Re: Exorcism - personal experiences?
I agree Mark, some make light of hope and hopium. For me it is to open a space for good to enter and leave the darkness behind and create anew:heart::shooting star:
