Re: Israel vs Palestine/Lebanon/Iran/Yemen/Syria: a New Middle East War
Today's reports on HZB and IRI are particularly devastating.
You get a Burkan, a strike on the "Leviathan", and this reaction off the wire:
Hezbollah’s suicide drones has broken the battle balance as the Israeli army fails to cope with this challenge: Zionist media
Not sure I would say it is "just" drones significant here, but, the result is the press believes the momentum to be on Hezbollah's side. Looking at the details of the reports, I would have to say yes, they slowed down some advances.
The gloves of "not embarrassing the Iraqi government" seem to have come off.
While we are at it, we might as well turn another page:
Quote:
The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) launched a targeted attack last night on two Israeli vessels, MSC GINA and MSC DEGO, in the Gulf of Aden. Accompanied by direct hits, the joint naval and missile forces action showcased Yemen’s military prowess in the region.
Not stopping there, the YAF’s Missile Force continued their streak by also hitting the MSC VITTORIA in the Indian Ocean and later in the Arabian Sea. The strikes were a strong message of solidarity with the Palestinian Resistance against the backdrop of US-UK aggression on Yemen.
Speaking on behalf of the YAF, Brigadier General Yahya Saree stated that these operations were just the beginning of a new phase of escalations. The focus now shifts to ships carrying supplies to Israeli ports from the Mediterranean Sea.
“Targeting ships heading towards occupied Palestinian ports is a direct response to any potential military aggression by ‘Israel’,” Saree emphasized. The YAF warned all violating ships to beware of immediate action and strict sanctions if ‘Israel’ invades Rafah.
Also:
Quote:
Sayyed Houthi underlined that the Yemeni operations in support of Gaza will continue and witness a further escalation, adding that the Yemeni Armed Forces are are also thinking about the fifth and sixth stages of escalation.
So. Ah. New supply base, Cyprus = additional Yemeni targets. So that will turn out to be another tremendous waste of money. Israel is too small to squirm. They are shot through.
It might be on a small scale, right now, but Hezbollah could easily take an interest in anti-ship cruise missiles. Their armory is tuned for short-range stuff to support infantry incursions. Yemen and IRI are compelled to use long-range, different field of expertise. As soon as any of it works, then, they figure out how to crank it.
As for Egypt, one should say if a treaty has been violated. Doesn't mean they will respond. Doesn't mean that putting Rafah under Zio-American occupation is going to happen either. What a cheap strategy. I suppose the attempt goes on until the Likud thing gets sorted.
Rafah is good enough timing that Biden's support--"not for months" as he really did say--can be diminished. Then, of course, we will find that some Senators and others are not just Israeli, but Likud. This platform will no longer be tolerated by anyone outside of it.
Re: Israel vs Palestine/Lebanon/Iran/Yemen/Syria: a New Middle East War
Why use white phosphorus on civilians? This violates all laws. Clearly Israelis would do that specifically to terrorize Palestinians, to drive them out into the sea.
It's high time to label Israel according to its behaviour: a terrorist entity. They've terrorized Palestinians since 1948.

Burned alive: Biden’s chemical weapons rain on Gaza’s children as Israelis hit Rafah with white phosphorus
The UN Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, warned on Wednesday that a full-scale assault on Rafah would be “a strategic mistake, a political calamity, and a humanitarian nightmare.”
Israel continued to bombard Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah on 8 May, as over one million Palestinians there face an immediate threat after Israeli forces captured the city’s border crossing with Egypt the previous day.
“Overnight and into the early hours of the morning, the Israeli military continued to pound parts of eastern Rafah city,” Al Jazeera reported, adding that health facilities in Rafah are unable to accommodate large numbers of casualties.
Israel also targeted Rafah with white phosphorus munitions, which are illegal to use on civilians and civilian infrastructure and are considered a war crime under international law.
The Israeli army has repeatedly used white phosphorus on civilians in Gaza and Lebanon since the start of the war. Rights groups have called for an urgent investigation after several Palestinian corpses were found vaporized in Gaza, suggesting Israel’s possible use of illegal thermobaric weapons to target civilians.
The Kerem Shalom border crossing was reopened on Wednesday after being shuttered when four Israeli soldiers were killed in a Qassam Brigades rocket attack on a nearby military site days earlier. The Rafah crossing – a key lifeline for Palestinians – remains shut following the army’s seizure of the area.
The UN has warned that Israel’s ongoing operation at the Rafah crossing threatens to seriously hinder humanitarian aid efforts.
Hamas’ military wing, the Qassam Brigades, said on Wednesday that its fighters engaged in fierce clashes with Israeli troops penetrating eastern Rafah.
Several Palestinians were killed and injured, including children, in the heavily intensified Israeli bombardment on Rafah on 7 May. Israel has been bombing the besieged city for weeks.
A four-month-old baby, a six-year-old, and an eight-year-old were killed by an Israeli bombing on the Qishta family home in Rafah on Tuesday afternoon. One man was also killed in an airstrike near the Rafah border crossing.
Israel announced Tuesday morning that it seized Gaza’s side of the Rafah border crossing. Video footage on social media showed Israeli tanks at the Rafah crossing. The army had begun moving towards the crossing on Monday evening.
The launch of the operation at the crossing was accompanied by heavy Israeli bombardment of Rafah.
Rafah is desperately overcrowded with over one million besieged Palestinians, most of whom were displaced from other places of the strip throughout the war. Israel claims the city is Hamas’ final stronghold and its key to victory in the war, and has been planning to invade the city for months.

Has Biden really 'paused' the shipment of weapons to Israel, or is this a lie to placate public outrage? While Israel is still genociding Gazans with all these USA weapons, it is utter hypocrisy to talk about a "temporary pause".

Israel’s war on Gaza live: Patients, staff forced out of Rafah hospitals
Patients and staff are being forced out of hospitals across Rafah as Israel’s attacks on the city intensify.
Tens of thousands Palestinians have fled Rafah and thousands more are attempting to leave as the Israeli assault ramps up.
The Israeli army takeover of the Rafah border crossing has shut down the entry of aid into Gaza for the past three days, “completely crippling humanitarian operations” as famine spreads, the UN says.
At least 34,904 people have been killed and 78,514 wounded in Israeli attacks on Gaza since October 7. The death toll in Israel from Hamas’s October 7 attacks stands at 1,139 with dozens of people still held captive.

It may simply be that the US is now critically short of artillery shells. So rather than saying "Sorry, we just don't have any more shells to send you", they spun it into a PR piece.

Israeli war cabinet approves 'expansion' of Rafah operation
The Israeli war cabinet on 9 May approved the “expansion of the area of operation” of the Israeli army in the Palestinian city of Rafah, according to three unnamed sources who spoke with Axios.
Two of the sources said the expansion – described as “measured” – would not cross US President Joe Biden’s recently imposed “red line,” while the third told Axios the move “could be seen as crossing the line.”
The war cabinet, led by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, and opposition leader Benny Gantz, also instructed “Israeli negotiations to continue efforts to reach a captive deal.”
Ultranationalist officials Itamar Ben Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich voted against this decision but were reportedly outnumbered.
Biden drew the ire of Israeli authorities earlier this week when he announced that his government would not support or provide weapons for an expanded Israeli assault on Rafah.
“If we have to stand alone, we will stand alone. If we need to, we will fight with our fingernails. But we have much more than fingernails,” Netanyahu said on Thursday.
Nevertheless, the Israeli premier left the door open for a reconciliation with his main ally: “We often had our agreements, but we've had our disagreements. We've been able to overcome them.”
The Israeli military markedly intensified its operations in Rafah over the past week, carpet bombing several areas in the critically overcrowded city and killing displaced Palestinians by the dozens.
Over 100,000 people have already fled the southern city.
Tel Aviv also violently took control of the Rafah border crossing in response to Hamas accepting a ceasefire deal that could have brought an end to the war.
As of Friday, lines of trucks carrying humanitarian aid remained stuck outside the besieged enclave as the Israeli army has blocked the entry of all humanitarian assistance for over two million Palestinians on the verge of starvation.
“The closure of the border crossing is not good for all these trucks because these are fridges, which means machine failure doesn’t give a warning. If the [fridge] stops working, then all of the food inside will be ruined,” trucker Ahmed al-Bayoumi told Reuters.
UN aid agencies warned on Friday that the dwindling food and fuel stocks could force aid operations to grind to a halt within days in Gaza.
As Tel Aviv continues to perpetuate the measures fueling a dire humanitarian crisis inside Gaza, Washington is expected to deliver a report that “absolves” Israel of responsibility for any war crimes.

UNGA overwhelmingly votes to grant Palestine full membership
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) passed a resolution awarding Palestine full-membership status, within the agency itself, on Friday.
Although the vote is considered to be symbolic, it is a necessary step for the full recognition of Palestine as a member state in all UN agencies. Such a decision would need to be passed through the UN Security Council (UNSC).
The draft resolution was originally introduced by the United Arab Emirates, following a UNSC vote on April 18 that blocked a similar proposal.
"The State of Palestine is qualified for membership in the United Nations in accordance with article 4 of the Charter and should therefore be admitted," the draft read.
It also called on the Security Council to "reconsider the matter favorably."
On Friday, the proposal garnered the support of 143 member states, while 25 abstained and another nine voted against the text. However, the proposal successfully passed the two-thirds yes-vote requirement.
In detail, the decision will allow Palestine to submit proposals and amendments directly to the UNGA, without having to go through another member state, as it had previously done. It is worth noting that the text explicitly rules out letting Palestine sit on the UNSC and vote in the GA, two of the most important rights that a member of the United Nations can have.
"When you build a building, you build it one brick at a time. If some think it's symbolic, for us it's important as we are moving forward towards our natural and legal right to be a full member of the UN," Palestinian ambassador Riyad Mansour told reporters a day before the vote was scheduled to take place.
US continues to hurdle Palestinian statehood
The United States was among the few countries to vote against the resolution for the expansion of Palestine's rights at the UNGA.
US mission to the United Nations spokesperson Nate Evans revealed the US' plan ahead of the vote on Friday.
In a statement, Evans said President Joe Biden's perspective on achieving peace in the region was through establishing the so-called two-state solution, the assurance of "Israel's" security, and "equality" between Palestinians and Israeli settlers in terms of freedom and dignity.
Commenting on the resolution, Evans stated "It remains the United States' view that unilateral measures at the United Nations and on the ground will not advance this goal. The General Assembly resolution being debated today is no exception and so the United States will be voting 'no' and encourages other member states to do the same."
The US further revealed that it would also vote, once again, against Palestine's full membership bid at the United Nations.
Abbas: Palestine will continue to work on a UNSC approval
The head of the Palestinian Authority (PA), Mahmoud Abbas, said that the passing of the proposal shows that the world supports Palestine and rejects its occupation.
"This overwhelming vote in favor of Palestine confirms that the world stands with the freedom and rights of the Palestinian people and rejects the occupation," Abbas stated.
"In light of this vote, the State of Palestine will continue its endeavor to obtain full membership in the United Nations via a decision of the Security Council," he added.
On the other hand, the Israeli Ambassador to the UN, Gildan Erdan, shredded a copy of the UN charter with a small machine that he brought with him to the podium of the UNGA.
Erdan expressed his opposition to voting on promoting the rights of the Palestinian state.

Re: Israel vs Palestine/Lebanon/Iran/Yemen/Syria: a New Middle East War
Argentina is not surprising when the president Javier Milei converted to Judaism and openly expressed his support for Israel.
Hungary is surprising at first glance but looking back at prior UN voting for Palestinian issues, they voted No or Abstained before as well and I think so has Czeck Republic.
