Re: Israel vs Palestine/Lebanon/Iran/Yemen/Syria: a New Middle East War
I continue to find a change of tone in the wires today:
Dozens of missiles were fired at Kiryat Shmona and “Iron Dome” failed to intercept most of them: Al-Manar reporter
Israeli Channel 14: Hezbollah missile fire dramatically damaged buildings and infrastructure in Kiryat Shmona
We usually don't get much on the result of the paramilitaries. I'm content with a brief blurb of what someone says they found in Israeli newspapers or tv. Spares me the trouble of dealing with it.
There may come a time when today's "dramatic" is "not considered newsworthy", but, this brief glance is at what must be multiple payloads of at least 100 pounds TNT equivalent, and a blast fragmentation radius of at least a hundred meters. Five or more of those in any small area is dramatic enough.
It sounds like we are at a goo-goo level of thumbsucking delight when someone is able to make their case against Palestinian statehood.
It feels like we are in an existential struggle with something that lacks a mind. I don't know what that would be. I would just like it to go rest quietly in Wyoming or wherever its natural habitat might be--not the same as mine obviously.

🇺🇲 BREAKING: US Puts Brakes on Arms to Israel Amid Gaza Concerns
In a Senate hearing, Pentagon Chief Lloyd Austin, affiliated with Raytheon, confirms temporary cessation of arms shipments to Israel. Israeli military corroborates the delay.
Israel Defense Forces' Chief Military Representative, Daniel Hageri, addresses the issue as being resolved privately. The Biden administration postpones a significant bomb shipment, citing apprehensions about potential use in Rafah.
The US State Department plans to submit a report to Congress, scrutinizing Israeli Defense Forces' utilization of American weaponry in Gaza.

As someone who is very pro Israel, I actually support this move. Rafahs too densely packed for bombs. The IDF should at least delay until more civilians have made the crossing. I believe its 300,000 are planned for in an evacuation, so Israel should stick to ground ops for now.
